Tried & True Salon, Piercing & Tattoo

I visited this shop with my daughter who wanted a piercing, but the person there told us that they required court documents to show proof of guardianship for minors. I mentioned being able to show photo ID proof for the both of us, but she persisted. To preface, my daughter is very white looking, while I am Asian. I also look younger and my daughter looks older, so I can see why you would question it. But why not just say what you think or ask for clarification rather than lying? I still tried to be reasonable, but she was very clearly not going to budge about turning us away.So I immediately called another shop in town to confirm whether or not they need proof of guardianship, and they said that as long as we have photo ID with the same last name it’s fine. Don’t assume things about your customers and ask for clarification. If it’s an age thing, ask for proof. And if this was a prejudice thing, try to do better. If a mother and daughter walked in that were the same race, I wonder if they would have asked for photo ID instead.

The first time I came there was because I got my nose pierced in Barcelona, and the guy did a bad job. So I decided to come to this place, which is pretty far, considering I live in St Louis instead of Cape Girardeau ( my fiance lives here). Anyway, I came here and got my piercing from I believe her name is Heather. She was extremely great and I didnt feel a thing. Three months later, I came back down to see if she could pierce a second ring in my nose and replace the first with another nose ring, and she did free of charge. Its safe to say that my daughter will be down that way to get her nose ring as well. I recommend all piercings to be done by her she knows what she is doing.

I got my nostril pierced today, originally with a hoop but I didn’t like it so I came back and had it switched to a stud. Shawnie seemed very rude to me, claimed the piercing was uneven because of swelling, and told me to check it myself even though I clearly can’t see the inside of my nose. That should be the piercer’s job. She also took the hoop that had been in my nose and verbalized she would reuse it on the next client. I’m concerned that I have someone’s discarded stud in my nose now, and the risk of infection seems much greater. I also noticed there was no hand-washing involved. On top of all this, there were two other women in the small piercing area, neither of which talked much but both of which looked very judgmental, especially when I walked back in to get it changed to a stud.Overall, it felt very unsanitary and the service was not what I would expect of a piercer. If I’m going to get a hole in my face, I want it done right.

Greeted promptly. Staff was enthusiastic and friendly. Lauren did a great job explaining everything to my daughter, even reminding her she didn’t have to go through with it. Will recommend 10/10.

Took my daughter here for her nose piercing and everyone there was so welcoming and friendly. the lady that pierced her nose was very thorough with explaining the aftercare and was patient with my daughter when she started asking questions. 10 out of 10 I definitely recommend

Id like to share a great experience we had yesterday and recommend Tried & True Salon, Piercing & Tattoo.My 6yo chose to get her ears pierced. Two piercers were used so her ears could be pierced at the same time.Both Heather and Morgan were great with my kiddo. They explained what they were going to do, offered her a squishmallow, and talked to her in a way that acknowledged her fears + feelings.As a result, my daughter sat bravely while they pierced her ears. She was thrilled.I think the thing I like the most is the back of the earring is a screw-on ball. I remember having my ears pierced at the mall and the pointed end being very uncomfortable.Only thing: call ahead to make sure there are two people on staff to pierce your kiddos!11/10, highly recommended

I had my belly button pierced over two months ago and am still having a hellacious recovery so is my bestie who got her nose done at the same time as me. The wrong piercing was put in my belly button it’s not even a belly button ring nor did I receive correct after care information. I live an hour away I went to a shop closer to me after being told by multiple people and found out everything was incorrect. Not even putting in the right ring calls for a review.

Always a great time at tried an true full of great artists an laughs. Been there for 3 tats now I am extremely happy with them!

I absolutely love this place! I got a tattoo from Corey and he even touched up another of my tattoos for free. He designed my tattoo perfectly and completely understood what I was describing. I just got a nose piercing from Morgan today and I absolutely love it! She’s so sweet and takes you step by step on how everything is going to go. I definitely recommend coming here for your tattoo and piercing needs!

Morgan pierced my doubles and my septum and did an AMAZING job. I have pretty sensitive skin but these healed great. Morgan was super friendly which helped me feel less nervous and she was so precise and quick that I barely felt anything during the piercing process. Wholeheartedly recommend this place.

I went to get dermals on my dimples yesterday and the piercer Morgan was AMAZING she made me feel very comfortable and talked me through the whole process. I loved the experience so much I just came back today and got my nostril and septum done! I will be coming back here from now on! Ive been to many different places for my piercings and this was the best experience Ive had

I’ve gotten 9 of my 11 piercings from Morgan at Tried & True and she is truly amazing at what she does. She values safety over anything and makes sure to stay up to practice with the safest, most reliable piercing techniques. She always answers my millions of questions patiently and offers great advice for managing a new piercing and the pain that accompanies it. Morgan is the best! Some of the piercings I gotten from her include my industrial bar, septum ring, three cartilage piercings, and two daiths. I’ve had a couple of piercings reject (not her fault whatsoever, just a natural thing that can happen) and she’s been able to coach me through it and re-pierce what rejected after it healed. 10/10 recommend!

The desk guy was very sweet, however my tongue was so crooked I took it out after the swelling went away. The bar felt almost too short and she didn’t mark my tongue. Honestly overall it wasn’t for me. And looked terrible.

Morgan did excellent with my piercing and I plan to come back if i want a tatoo or piercing. Clean relaxed environment better then I have seen anywhere locally.Just had 2 more Piercings by Morgan October 2021 and Morgan never ceases to amaze me in her professionalism and know how. If anyone can give a quick low pain piercing it is her. Morgan youre my girl.... Love you and my hubby does too!

I got a piercing done in St. Louis at a place where the staff was really rude. I didnt want to go back there. I was unable to get the nose ring changed out myself. Shawnee (sp?) at Tried and True helped me find out what kind of configuration was used, helped me remove it and replaced it with a really cute hoop. She only charged me for the hoop. The front desk offers free sodas to people in the waiting area. The staff is super kind. I also had a question about a tattoo redo for my husband and the tattoo artist stopped what he was doing to talk with me about it. Ive always heard good things about this place. I can confirm I will be back and I highly recommend them!😊

Went here to get my daughters ears pierced for her tenth birthday, plus I got mine repierced. Morgan and Heather were both extremely patient with my daughter while she tried to get over her fear of the pain, since she really wanted the piercing! They made her comfortable and helped reassure her, plus they werent upset when it seemed like she might not do it, thus wastinf their time.Also, Morgan was quick and effortless with my own ears. My old holes were uneven and oddly placed, so she put the new ones in a better position. I think theyre just perfect. Definitely planning to return for any and all future percings, plus potential tattoo work!

Best tattoo shop around. Actually, to call it a tattoo shop is an understatement. Tattoos, piercings, salon, and skate shop! I buy all my skate gear here (Corey makes some sick custom decks also), Heather shapes my noggin, and they have several tattoo artists with varying styles for whatever youre looking for. Also some of the most experienced piercers in town. Very clean and professional enviironment. Also, super friendly customer experience here. There is really no one else even on this level in the Cape area. 10/10 experience here every time.

The girls always get me in when I wait until the last minute to get my hair cut (keep in mind, I’m a guy, and my hair doesn’t take as long to do - so make an appointment).On the salon side, it’s always neat and clean. It’s not as awkward as some places I’ve been while getting my hair cut. All the hair color work I’ve seen them do looks good and I’d definitely check out their social media to see it yourself.While I haven’t personally gotten a tattoo or piercing there, they have quite a few talented artists onboard! I’d definitely consider them for my next tattoo or piercing and check out their pages as well

I have mixed feelings about this place, although they did a good job on the tattoo I got, me and the artist had agreed on a price and a certain tattoo, although when it get close to the shop closing he decided that he didn’t have time to finish and I’d have to pay him for a whole nother session although I had already paid him $230 for just a simple black and white vine tattoo.

This place is amazing. Everyone is very friendly and kind, and theyre so professional. Their work is phenomenal. I just went there to get my piercings changed to plastics for an upcoming surgery, and I had a wonderful time when I was there and they didnt even charge me! Seriously the BEST place in town for anything with tattoos, piercings, or hair.

This is a great one way stop for getting pierced with your choice of body jewelry and assistance with one or any piercing your interested in. I have my lobes pierced from Tried & True and have also had them assist me through each gauge up [Fitting with taper than putting in whatever I am wanting]. Both the ladies Heather and Morgan have been very helpful in helping me pierce knowledgeably. Alone the shop is clean and the equipment is sterile, shoot its next door to burritoville so theres another plus. The art work looks great inside, the tattoo and haircut side look very clean, and to top it off they dont make you feel awkward. Which is a plus in my book when it comes to T&P shops. Great going guys!

My wife and I got our wedding ring tattoos. It was our first time and Corey Bedwell did an excellent job explaining the expected pain levels (minimal) and how to care for the tattoos. If I can ever decide on something else I want permanently inscribed in my skin, I will be back.
