This place is great! I had made an appointment with Keith Pickens. It was my first time getting a tattoo, so I had no idea what to expect, but he was very understanding and talked me through pretty much everything. He free handed and flower vine on my abdomen and it’s perfect! It’s exactly what I pictured in my head. I plan on going back as soon as I can to get the other side done!

Devin went above and beyond for me. I am so thankful I was referred to him. He exceeded my expectations. I am pretty much covered in tattoos, and I will say the tattoo he did for me is by far one of my absolute favorites. In fact it is my favorite! In my opinion he IS the best artist I have found here in Virginia. Nobody has even come close in comparison. Devin is definitely top-notch, and if you should choose to use him you will not be disappointed. The time, detail, and the effort he put in to my tattoo was very much appreciated. He is also a super awesome guy, and is very easy to talk with, and get along with. He has earned a client for life.

My overall experience was excellent. Keith and Maranda did such a great job of making me feel comfortable, that I felt right at home. Keith was friendly, but ensured his work was executed in a professional and respectful manner. He did such an exceptional job on my first tattoo that I stayed and got a second one. Keith did an above exceptional job. He spends time making sure the tattoo you want comes out exactly the way you want it before placing the stencil on. He also double checks every detail to make sure everything is going smoothly. It was absolutely wonderful to have him do my pieces. Super personable, easy going, and a down to Earth type of guy. Highly recommend Keith and will definitely be coming back to Primal in the future.

I’ll start off by saying that this is the best tattoo shop in the entire area. Period. Keith was amazing, and he is the reason I was brave enough to finally conquer my fear and get my first tattoo! Not only was Keith extremely personable and friendly, but he stayed late to do me and my other two friends tattoos (which turned out BEAUTIFULLY). We laughed together and talked about life and I truly felt like we had known each other for years. THAT’S the type of experience you should have! You want to feel comfortable but also know you can trust your artist with a piece of art that will be on your body forever and Keith exceeded my expectations beyond measure. I’ve already told all of my family and friends about this place and I will only come back here for all future tattoos! Not to mention the shop was extremely clean and professional and they accepted three walk in appointments. I would rate this place a 10 if I could. There are seriously no words to describe the awesome experience I had! Thank you!

Keith is a great artist and tattooer. He takes his time getting the piece exactly how you want it, and gives great advice! The shop is clean and sterile. Appointments are easy to make and they arent booked months out! Great pricing too! Ive had 3 appointments already!

My wife and I both went in and got tattoos and couldnt be more pleased. We were able to get quick appointments. Keith did our tattoos and we couldnt be more pleased with them and he takes the time to get you what you want. Everyone should definitely have him do your work.

Very nice, clean atmosphere. Ive been getting ink done by Keith for nearly 3 years and when I found out he moved, I had to follow. I drive all the way from Williamsburg. His work is amazing and prices are reasonable. He is always willing to work with you and can tweek things to make them turn out better. Never a bad experience with him. I will continue to get my ink done with Keith as long as I need new art. Job well done.

I’ve always been afraid of needles and I’m somewhat of a perfectionist, so I’ve been a little leery of getting a tattoo. A had a friend at work who was getting a coverup and was impressed with it. After a traumatic event I found something I wanted as a reminder of my individuality and strength. I let them know about my fears and and my propensity for perfectionism and the artist stayed my fears. I ended up with a beautiful piece of art that I look at everyday with joy and pride. Every time I see it I’m reminded of my power to overcome. It was honestly one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and primal tattoo made it possible. Thank you guys!P.S. Such a great experience prompted me to get another larger piece on my leg. Again a beautiful piece of art. Very thankful to have found such wonderful meticulous artists.

Keith did my tattoo. It was a drawing that Ms. Lzzy Hale from Halestorm drew for me. Keith did an amazing job and Ms. Hale said it is amazing. Cant get any better than that. Such a relaxed atmosphere. I felt totally comfortable. Thanks for the awesome job.
