My friend and I both had tattoos done today by Lyle. It was her first and my fifth and Lyle made the whole experience painless and enjoyable. He listened to our ideas and drew up tattoos that were just what we were looking for! Great job Lyle.. thanks!

Had a memorial tattoo done by Lyle. He did an amazing job, I love it! I had come in with a few different things I wanted to put all together (and a really bad drawing of it all together 😂) but Lyle came up with something much better and I loved it so we went with his creation instead. Thanks so much Lyle, you did an awesome job honoring my friends memory!!

Took my daughter for an industrial piercing, done by Mona. We were assisted as soon as we came in and we were a bit early. Everyone seemed cool. Mona educated us and made my daughter feel comfortable. Prices are reasonable. Booking was easy. We will definitely be visiting her again.

Got my septum done by Jake. He completely missed my sweet spot and went through cartilage (which is way more painful) & pierced it crooked. When I first looked at it I mentioned it being crooked instead of admitting he made a mistake and apologizing, he blamed it on me having a deviated septum, which I do not. (I went to a different piercer to get it removed and they confirmed I don’t have a deviation and that it was a careless mistake) I asked for a partial refund of some sort since the piercing was done incorrectly and instead he offered to redo it or do another piercing for free. I get everyone has their bad days and makes mistakes but why would I go back to have him pierce it incorrectly again? I have nothing against him, however I am disappointed and wished the situation was handled differently.Went to Scarab Body Arts and got it redone correctly for a lot cheaper than I was charged here!! Highly recommend going there instead - they really care about their customers!

Got tattooed by Jeremy today on my ribs which apparently are one of the bad places but he did his thing and I sat through the whole session in one go great place will come again

I have had all 4 of my Tattoos done here absolutely love all of the staff very clean, everyone is always friendly I’ve been tattooed by Lyle and Jeramy, and pierced by Mona, couldn’t ask for a better team and staff very happy every time I leave the shop can’t wait to come back to get more work done

This week was my first time at Black Sea Tattoo and by far was the best piercing experience in 20 years of getting pierced and tattooed in studios between Syracuse and Albany.The shop is very clean, staff are all professional. Not too noisy. Open layout but still feels private at each station. There’s no “sketchy” vibe. Prices are more than fair! Jake explained every tool and step, was kind and super fast. Plus he was patient with my companion who was very nervous. I’m not great with needles personally, and it was no sweat.Parking is street parking. Cash and cards accepted. Takes appointments and walk-ins.

Amazing, comfortable place. Nice decor and good vibes! My piercer, Jake was amazing. I was having issues with my dimple piercings (which were done by an inexperienced person in Nyc). My cheeks were completely swelled to the point that the bar was sinking into my piercing. I was so nervous that we wouldn’t be able to change it and have to just take it out completely, but Jake did his absolute best to accommodate my needs/wants and I appreciate him so much! He talked me through the entire process and make sure I knew every step that he was doing. He made sure to check on me throughout changing my jewelry, making sure I wasn’t in too much pain. He was as gentle as possible and made the overall experience so much more comfortable. Definitely will be coming back here for future piercings. The environment is great and pricing is reasonable. Thank you guys!!

As a mom who went for my daughter’s first piercing, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Black River’s employees were SO LOVELY. The first person greeted us outside and every person thereafter was pleasant, helpful and honest. It is a very clean and soothing place to hang out. My daughter and I were very happy with our experience. I also learned about so many new body parts on which you can be pierced! Who knew?! 😊

Hali is a fantastic piercer and person! She was so sweet and did such a wonderful job walking me through everything. She answered my questions thoroughly and she was very clever in distracting me so I didn’t feel any pain. She took great care of me and made my experience so enjoyable and comforting. Will definitely recommend her to all and the shop is very nice and full of wonderful artists.

I like to half joke I have arms by Lyle - if youre considering a tattoo of any sort, I cant recommend him enough. His talent is astonishing and he has a great presence which makes a phenomenal experience.

Re-pierced ear today. The two holes in right ear had closed. For my birthday (today) I finally got to it. No appointment. Service immediately. Jacob did an excellent job. Explained everything I needed to know about piercing and jewelry I needed to buy. Hygienic, professional, and kind. Their shop is clean and spacious. Thanks Jacob!!

Referred by Mona while I was giving blood and would not have found this without meeting her. Got my nose pierced with a hoop and had a great experience. Just got four piercings done by a lovely goth Goddess, and she was not only friendly and extremely personable - she took her work seriously and made sure everything was properly lined up and was totally open to criticism. She was an excellent coach through the pain and gave you totally clear instructions. Would ABSOLUTELY recommend.

Mick was amazing. I had had bad experiences with my tattoo artists in the past but she was friendly and did her best to make me feel comfortable. My husband and I live a couple hours away but we will make the drive next time we need anything done.

Piercer that was there was very knowledgeable and really helpful. I had a piercing from 6 months ago (from a different place, not here) that was giving me trouble, and I wanted someone to look at it to help me determine if I should give it more time to heal or if it was time to just let it close up. The woman I spoke with was really nice, and while they didnt have jewelry in the exact gauge I needed to replace my existing jewelry, she redirected me to a place that did and gave me some info on how to take care of my piercing a little better so it finishes healing.

Got my son a nose piercing and a lip piercing for myself. There was 3 others in front of us when we arrived so we ended up waiting about half hour before actually seeing the piercer. But waiting area was very clean and comfortable. Piercer was very professional and helpful. Prices were reasonable

I am a 58 year old woman who was having a 2nd ear piercing done and was a little nervous about having it done in a tatoo shop, but Hali greeted me very kindly and took me right in without any wait, explained everything to me perfectly, and put me completely at ease. She showed me a gentle kindless I have not seen from anyone in years. Not only that, my piercing hurt for a few minutes and then it stopped and hasn’t hurt at ALL since - even while sleeping because she used a flat back designed especially for side sleepers which I’d never heard of!!! That was certainly NOT the case for my prior piercings at the mall - LOL. Black and white experiences for sure!Hali was extremely professional, kind, courteous, respectful and gentle. The equipment was sterile, my ear lobes were cleaned before and after the piercing and honestly it was an awesome experience for me! I’m so happy I worked through my fears and did this. I had a hair appointment right afterwards and I raved about her work to everyone in the hair salon, which she so richly deserves.She is amazing and I highly recommend this place and her specifically !Thank you SO much!!

Ive only gone in once to get my nose pierced and it was a great experience. Very nice people, friendly and clean environment. Very professional as well, woman who assisted me was very nice and honest. Will definitely be returning!

Manager or whoever was in charge was very rude. Refused service when we showed proper ID. The person at the counter was very nice but the person in charge was very rude.In response the person had a birth certificate and a valid hospital ID. New York State issued birth certificate. The person in question is 29 years old. The person in charge was very confrontational. I was merely stating our case when he walked towards me and wanted to make it personal. I will discourage anyone I know from going to this shop. Very unprofessional.

The BEST in CNY. Stefan is patient (for a Bulgarian lol) and will only do work that will look good for years. Some places will do any work the customer asks for. He wont lie to you and tell you what you want to hear just to make a buck. If your concept is bad idea, hell tell you why as well as make suggestions to make it work. If you dont have the patience to wait 6 months for a spot with the boss, he has several talented artists working under his direction. If youre in the market, you cant go wrong with Black Sea tattoo.

Went to go get a piercing here & piercer Mona would not pierce how me, as the customer wanted my OWN ear pierced. Had a piercing from a different shop from years ago & wanted a matching one above it. I told her exactly what I wanted & after being very opinionated, piercer states that she was not going to pierce it how me, the customer, getting MY ear piercered, wanted it. After stating I didn’t want it her way, she continued to argue stating she had sooo many years of experience & wouldn’t pierce it the way I wanted. Left the shop & after leaving could see Mona consult with her coworkers about the altercation. Very unprofessional. Would NOT recommended if you want a piercing how YOU want your own body peireced.

The staff here are phenomenal. Not only are they super talented at what they do they are extremely knowledgeable, and helpful, and very very friendly. If you are looking for a badass tattoo, or bomb piercing, this is where you should go!

Just incredibly frustrated and disappointed with my experience. Worked with the artist, but just not happy with the design, and got the distinct impression that he really couldnt care less. I walked away from my deposit rather than get this poor design on my body. What the hell. I really expected much, much more based on the glowing reviews.

I love this place for many reasons one being everyones friendly they also make you feel very comfortable and answer any questions... they have couches to sit in while you wait... I love the artwork fits all around the shop... I definitely recommend going here...$60 starting rate for tattoos $25 starting rate for piercings...

So I got both of my nostrils pierced here back in January and they have been fine... but I went and changed my jewelry myself today and when I finally got my new jewelry in, the holes are not even...my right nostril piercing is lower than the left... didn’t notice until now because I put the same hoop jewelry in each today.. so now my right side is droopy looking.. not sure what I should do.. but not very happy since it’s been this long and they are healed now.

Stefan is hands down the greatest tattoo artist locally, and he would also rank regionally/nationally. Dude is gifted, honest, hard-working, humble.

I recently lost Dee my wife of 45years and wanted to do something in memory of her.Black Sea and Jeremy were recommended to me.Never had a tattoo before so didnt know what to expect.I Knew what I wanted and Jeremy produced a tattoo that ecceded my expectations.I Liked the atmosphere of the place,lot of kidding around and yet they all were very professional when it came time to work.Based on my experience Ill recommend them to anyone who asks.
