I cannot say enough about my amazing tattoo and the experience I had at Fox and Crown! I had a very specific and detailed idea for my tattoo after the passing of my sweet boxer (His spots on his ear). Matthew listened and paid attention to every detail and was able to capture so much is this piece!!!The atmosphere of the studio is also so comfortable, professional and stylish! I am working on my next project with Matthew already! Cannot speak highly enough about his work and his service!!!!

I can’t say enough good things about Fox + Crown tattoo. Matthew did a phenomenal job at creating a beautiful, unique portrait of my sweet dog that passed away. I was so scared to trust someone with this, but Matthew brought my sweet boy to life in a tattoo and I’m so grateful to have this to remember him. The email correspondence and scheduling process was so easy and Kirsten is very friendly and communicative. The studio was really pretty, private and comfortable. They have made every effort to provide the most accommodating experience for their clients and sitting for 8.5 hours went by really fast. Definitely going back for any tattoos I get in the future!

Never had a better experience with tattoos. Snacks and drinks one on one and everything is super clean. Great conversation about any topic makes a full session fly buy. Well worth my time and money and have dedicated half of my skin. One of the best black and gray artist ever and in my area just needs the hype!

If you’re looking for a realism or black and gray tattoo do yourself a favor and see Matthew. I cannot say enough good things about my experience. I had an idea for a dark arts skull morph tattoo and a sunflower that was a tribute. Matt completely knocked it out the park. I booked three sessions to complete my whole upper arm and the experience was top notch. The Fox and crown studio is absolutely beautiful and impeccably clean. Matt took an idea that I had and came up with a killer design that when actually tattooed looks exactly like the mock up. Sat for three long session that were a breeze between his light hand and distractions with good conversation and movies. Every-time I show off the piece I get compliments about his work. Really couldn’t be happier and am already planning my next piece with Matt.

Matt is truly one of the greatest in the industry. From start to finish you should judge a leader in the field on certain things. Composition, Shading, cleanliness, creativity, placement, and line control. He is a perfectionist when it comes to all these categories.Creativity/ideas of what you are wanting- when you bring him an idea he just won’t put it on paper and begin. He does his research and makes sure everything makes sense and is perfect. I have taken ideas to him where if it was anyone else I would have ended up with somthing I would have regretted. He went and did the research to make sure the history and ideas all matched up. An extra step to show he cares about each client and piece of work he puts on you.Placement- being a perfectionist and a leader in the industry he understands the body and its natural curves. He always knows just where to put each idea and just when you think it’s good he moves it just the slightest so it’s perfect.Shading/lines/ composition - his work speaks for itself. He is one of the artists that takes his time and makes sure he is proud of everything that walks out his door.I am truly thankful to have come across his work and become a client. I do think if you’re looking for an artist you are doing your body a disservice if you don’t contact him and start the journey!! Matthew is an incredibly talented artist and if you’re looking for the highest quality tattoo possible, this is the place to go.One look at Matthew’s portfolio will show that his speciality is black and gray realistic pet portraits, however you’ll see that all of his pieces, regardless of subject matter, are treated with the same immaculate attention to detail and precision with placement.Our initial consultation by email was seamless. I wanted a portrait of my chihuahua and submitted several reference photos. Matthew picked the one that would work best and took the time to explain why, and what size would best show the detail of the piece.The shop itself is unlike any tattoo shop I’ve ever been in. The lounge holds a carefully curated collection of art and taxidermy. The tattoo room itself is so comfortable and inviting - it even has dual televisions, so you can watch movies during your session (the artist is a fan of Wes Anderson, but ask for your favorite!).Not only is it beautiful space but it’s also immaculate. The cleanliness is of the highest level. For me that’s of great importance when needles are involved.Matthew has a gentle hand with tattooing and is sensitive to checking in with you during the session, so don’t be afraid to let him know if you need a break.I couldn’t be happier with the outcome, and I get compliments on it constantly.
