Luke was fantastic! Super knowledgeable, answered all my questions, and made me feel completely at ease. He made my nose piercing as quick and painless as possible. Also incredibly friendly. I highly recommend Luke, and I’ll definitely be seeing him again in the near future!

Went in with my friend. Have been wanting the Septum piercing for a very long time now. Spoke to Luke Shehee about getting it done. A few minutes later I had a 10 gauge piece of metal hanging from my nose! The place is very clean, very professional. So far Luke has done my nipples and my Septum. Who knows what come next! Definitely recommend the Helm for your piercing and tattoo needs!

Not only are they extremely clean but the vibe of this place is amazing! The owners are so down to earth I had no idea they were the owning spouses until we left. I love literally everything about this place. Four of us got piercings and we were in-and-out in an hour. Numbing cream is available and works amazing! They support military!

I took my daughter in for a piercing (2nd holes in ears) yesterday and had a wonderful experience. We were there with my daughters friend who was getting her nose pierced. Luke was FANTASTIC with them! He listened to concerns and answered all of our questions and kept us all laughing. He was informative and we all felt so comfortable and the girls were very pleased with their piercings. Luke gets a 10/10 from us!

I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a tattoo or a piercing. I cant imagine going anywhere else.First of all--Rachael was absolutely AMAZING. Vibes were immaculate. She was so intricate, caring, and knowledgable as we went through my tattoo. I gave her a rough idea of what I wanted and she was able to turn it into an amazing piece I couldnt even begin to imagine on my own. She got the concept and ran with it and made sure to be very meaningful and intentional every step of the way.It was my first tattoo and she made sure I took breaks when I needed them and made sure I was comfortable the whole time.The establishment was super clean, and everyone was extremely friendly. As soon as you walk in, youre part of the Helm family. They have an ATM on site if you dont have cash on you, so that was nice as well!I have to say...I was in the chair for a long time, and I never felt like I was uncomfortable with the environment or the people around me. Everyone was doing their own thing and occasionally stopped by to see how awesome Rachael was doing. Props to her. Did I mention she did great on my piece?Not to mention the price. She put her heart and soul into this piece and it felt like no matter what I paid her it would never be enough. She priced very very nicely for such an amazing piece. I will mostly assuredly be coming back.

This place is hands down the best. The thing I like the most about it is that it’s clean and brightly lit. Everything from the restrooms to each artist’s station to the front desk- there is no clutter, the decor is simple with open concept, and it just looks and smells clean. The shop is quiet besides music and Dave’s laugh at times; no loud buzzing from guns. Mayes is my personal artist, and he will forever be the only person that puts ink to my body. There are so many talented artists there though! If there is a wait to be inked, it is WORTH it. You will not disappointed.

Booked a tattoo here based on reviews and suggestions and Helm didnt disappoint! Payton did an amazing job and I cant wait to go back again for a larger thigh dragon piece done in realism. The shop is clean and inviting not dark and dingy like some.

10/10 will recommend to anyone. My daughter got her ears pierced for her 6th birthday . They were super awesome with her and she was totally calm and didnt budge any! Luke is absolutely awesome 💯

Luke is AMAZING like all the other reviews say. I was so nervous to go from Claires to a tattoo place for my other lobe piercings and cartilage but man, oh man, do I see the light now! He is so knowledgeable and had all kinds of clean, surgical gloves, cleaning supplies, little boxes for the earrings etc. And he talked me through the entire process making me laugh etc.I actually had my friend video tape the process, and I have watched it a thousand times because once I felt the quick burn of the initial needle going through I felt nothing else he was so smooth.Basically, go to The Helm Tattoo and see Luke.

Was given a referral by Aja (associate in Claires at Walmart) to see Luke for my daughters nostril piercing! Luke was fabulous! He was personable, awesome attitude, laid back & very funny keeping my daughter very calm before the piercing! He was very thorough in explaining everything we needed to know. He was amazing with my special needs friend who wanted to have her ears repierced and I observed him with two young girls whose mother had brought them in to get their ears pierced. They were having so much fun while getting their ears pierced and came out delighted. The shop has a very comfortable atmosphere that was totally unexpected. Very happy with our visit. My husband and I went in for a consultation and left being on two different artists books for the rest of the year. Its a FLASH TATTOO look how good it is! He did it in literally 10 min, it turned out so beautiful, so perfect, & its a huge tattoo for the price of $31?!! INSANITY. They knocked this year out the park. They know what theyre doing here, it was a very professional and smooth process. I had a friend get her flash done by Josh and shes so happy with hers as well. I got my tattoo done by the owner Mayes and I believe his wife Maria is the one who designed it! It was my favorite on the flash sheet the second I saw it you guys are amazing💛

Luke was great! I came up from Columbus to have a weekend with my best friend and we decided on spur of the moment piercings. Luke was extremely friendly and just fun to be around. I also appreciate his honesty when asked for an opinion on a certain piercing being done. He advised the piercing I came for probably wouldnt look the way I wanted because of my features, and explained why. I decided on another piercing and will definitely make the 4 hour drive for anything else i decide to get done! 10/10 would definitely recommend.The shop itself was also extremely clean.

Visited The Helm today for the first time during the Friday the 13th special and my daughter and I got poked by Luke! He is hands down amazing! Very detailed when explaining the piercing and the warnings that come with it and what to and not to do. Very laid back environment! Will definitely be going back!

I decided to get my septum pierced again after a really bad experience almost 10 years ago at another shop where they pierced through the cartilage in my septum. I had had my ears pierced here at The Helm during a special and knew I was in good hands. Luke is very knowledgeable funny and very comforting. He really knows what he’s doing and i honestly won’t go anywhere else for piercings. The shop is open and spotless and everyone else is so friendly.

Wonderful! They were able to get me in super quickly for a small tattoo. The staff was wonderful. The shop was extremely clean and Sabina was so great. Loved everything about the experience and can’t wait to come back.

Let me just tell you, if you are going through a little mid-life crisis thing, go get a helix piercing (ear cartilage) from Luke and a tattoo from Rachel! Neither one of these hurt me....seriously! I feel pretty stinkin cool, too!The Helm is super clean and has a great vibe to the place. Both of these guys wore gloves and were very conscious about keeping everything sterile. My piercing has healed, I guess. (It never felt like a wound at all!) NO blood! Luke used a light to shine through my ear to avoid any vessels. Luke is a total pro!Rachel was super patient and worked with me and my son until we were positive on the design. I dont even know how many sketches the poor thing made. I honestly can say, the tattoo was painless! It is just above my wrist on the under side of my arm. I felt tingling, but not pain. I highly recommend her!SF, age 53

I was down visiting in Georgia from Maine because my mother in law was in her final stages of pancreatic cancer. I wanted to get a tattoo while I was down here. I was looking and looking for a parlor and found the helm. Saw they had good reviews so I set up a time to go in and meet the artist and let them know what I wanted. The man at the door was super friendly. Welcomed me in, led me to the booth. My artist Payton (the owner) was super pleasant and helpful. When it came time for my tattoo I went in late and brought my son. They offered him a donut, a drink and even put a kids movie on the TV and he felt so at home he fell asleep while I was getting my tat done. I highly recommend Payton and everyone at the helm and if I come down again I will definetly be stopping by for more ink.

I cant say enough about this place!! Weve been there twice in the past 10 days and are going back for a third time this weekend! Competitive prices, a great group of guys, the place is always super clean, they have perfect sanitization procedures, professional and quick to respond to your questions and the whole experience is just awesome! My friend and I came in after a terrible experience at another tattoo shop close by. Nickie has been nothing short of amazing the whole time. She did a few piercings for me and scheduled our appointment for matching tattoos. They are all so nice, hospitable and friendly. I dont think Ill go anywhere else from now on. I live in dalton, my friend lives in Lafayette. Its definitely worth the drive for the level of professionalism and care they give.

He done my anti eyebrow piercing and done a great job. The staff was very nice and respectful and they are very clean.and sanitized. Its actually one of the cleanest tattoo shops I have been in in years and the price was great and fair . I would highly recommend them . He done a great job .

I visited The Helm for a couple of piercings and was made to feel welcome upon arrival. My piercer Hannah is amazing!! If I can help it, I won’t let anyone else pierce me. She’s professional yet laid back and she knows her stuff. She’s done four piercings thus far and I plan to go back to her for more. The studio is clean and you can tell it’s a pretty laid back environment. I recommend you visit Hannah at The Helm for all your piercing desires.

Got my nose pierced today by Luke. I’ve got a thing with needles and after I let him know that and he made me very comfortable, talked to me, answered questions, joked around and helped me not panic. I had my nose pierced by Luke at the helm. He was extremely knowledgeable, clean and sanitary. I accidentally knocked it out in my sleep and Luke had me come by and have it fixed. He even replaced my rod for free. I will definitely recommend him!

Yesterday, I went to the Helm for a jewelry change, which was done by Luke. I’ve been to several different shops and piercers, but Luke definitely has been my favorite out of all of them. He was very funny and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. If anyone wants a piercing, you must see Luke at The Helm!

My visit was brief. Just a consultation. I was impresses with the shop. Its modern,clean and still has that old school vibe that I love.I met with Payton. Just luck of the draw. I put a lot of stock in destiny so I wasnt surprised that we vibed. He was polite and treated me like an old friend. I showed him my concept and explained its significance. He immediately suggested a totally different idea that was much better than mine. I booked an appointment without hesitation. I was actually pleased that he was booked up until July. Someone isnt that in demand for no reason.

Folks, I cannot say enough about this place !!! I’ve had 2 tats done & my wife has had 3 ! Maria has been doing our work & she is AMAZING ! The place is spotless & they sterilize ALL their equipment after each use past the point of OCD. They are a great group of artists & highly recommend them

Cannot remember the name of the guy that did my piercing but he did a great job! He did well at explaining everything he was doing. I walked in with no appointment & he took me straight back. The price of a nose piercing is super reasonable also. 10/10 recommend :)

Luke didnt bs me when i asked for a particular piercing and just did it. He took the time to let me know that what i wanted wouldnt have worked well and that my ear isnt shaped well for it. I appreciated his honesty!

I got my labret pierced by the young chick who is in charge of the piercing part of the shop, and it looks great from the outside but crooked as hell or offset from the center on the inner part of my lip, which in turn created a nightmare situation where the back of the stud was digging into one side instead of being center and creating a massive amount of swelling. Do not recommend getting anything other than your ear pierced. however the guy that owns the shop is really cool and I went back in and he did the best he could and said he would have a talk with her. Hopefully he does or finds a piercing expert. I am not knocking any of their tattoos because he does a fantastic job tattooing Ive seen his work and its amazing.

Best tattoo + peircing studio around the wait times on getting some ink ran are a little long but that just speaks to the quality they bring to the table. Some truly beautiful work coming out of this place.

Took my daughter for her 16th Birthday to get an Industrial piercing in her right ear.. We loved the atmosphere and everyone.. Luke was AWESOME piercing my daughter didnt Flench and she loves her new piercing.. Will definitely be back.. Thank you to The Helm and to Luke for making the experience amazing for her 16th Birthday..UPDATE: Since the original post my daughters industrial did not take but that didnt keep her from going back. She has been to see Luke for her Belly Button piercing as well as her second holes in her Ear Lobes.. And she has already asked to go back for her 17th birthday and get the Daith piercings done.. So if that doesnt say all anyone would need to know I dont know what does.. We love The Helm and Love Luke Peyton Maria and all the amazing people at The Helm..

Luke the head piercer is a super understanding and down to earth guy and it’s not just customer service that he’s good at he also knows very well where to place the piercings based off things I myself didn’t know like the ridge of your nose and your smile etc. Would definitely do service again.
