Rich is amazing! This is my third tattoo with Rich and once again he doesnt disappoint. Great artist, conversationalist and all around nice guy. Its a good thing I dont live closer or I would be in his shop once a week! I can go on and on gushing how incredible this little shop is, but just read the reviews. I mega ditto all of them! The love I had for this beautiful state as soon as we crossed over the state line brought me to tears the mountains are like nothing we have in Michigan. It being mine and my husbands 1 year plus all this beautiful state I knew I wanted a tattoo to always remember it. I found the BEST tattoo shop with the most amazing rating on google. The minute I stepped in Smokies I was so comfortable and Joey took care of me and had brought my tat to life. He explained all the after care and made sure he answered all questions I had. I HIGHLY recommend Joey !!! Knock it out of the park and the best part ? They do walk ins !!! Next time you are in Tennessee and you want an amazing artist that makes you feel comfortable and you can tell, loves doing tattoos and does right by his customers go to Smokies !!

We reached out to this shop prior to vacationing in the area because we wanted to honor our dad, who had suddenly passed on the vacation he had planned for all of us, by getting his handwriting tattooed on us. From the moment we uploaded images and explained what we wanted, we were absolutely blown away by the whole process.On the day of our appointment, Joey was at the shop waiting for us with printouts of our dads handwriting so we could work on size and placement. My sister got hers on her foot, and I got mine on my forearm.Joey was amazing—detail-oriented and patient. He took the time to explain the reasoning behind the sizing and placement, and we adjusted the stencil multiple times without any issues.I cant say enough great things about this shop, their customer service, prices, and work. There are plenty of options to choose from when on vacation, but if its not a spur-of-the-moment decision, I highly recommend this shop.

Wasn’t sure what to expect walking in and after 10 seconds of talking to Rich, he exceeded all expectations. First and most important- nicest, down to earth, coolest guy around! He was so welcoming and made us feel at home. His knowledge of tattooing was insane! I learned so much about tattoos from him and I already had 3 tattoos. He was very helpful in being honest about what would look good and really helped me make important decisions. The tattoo is unreal! I couldn’t love it anymore- rich is so so talented!!! Absolutely amazing! This was my first tattoo and I was very nervous about that because I have heard horror stories and stories of the first timers. Rich made sure I was comfortable the entire time. He talked me through the process and checked on me throughout the tattoo.I wanted a griffin type eagle and looked for a while to try and find one. I found one close to what I wanted, rich worked with me to fine tune it and make sure that the finished product would look good and not have issues with becoming a blob from bleeding.I would definitely recommend anyone go here. Their tattoo art is amazing, I saw some pictures at the shop and they were amazing, my tattoo also turned out better than I could have hoped. Rich did an amazing job. Anyone looking for a tattoo, first time or hundredth time, go here.

Very family friendly on the inside, so your momma can sit with you while you get work done.I was tattooed by Rich, he was very professional and passionate about the work. He definitely made sure I got what I wanted, offered suggestions when I needed it and made sure I was comfortable during the experience.Was not as expensive as I was expecting and very affordable to work with. The piece I came out with is some of my cleanest work, especially so since he worked around any freckles or moles I have.He knew how to talk to me when I needed to pass the time, but also could stay focused on the task at hand. A wonderful session.I will definitely be coming back.

We went to one place in pigeon Forge and the guy didn’t want to do anything. We then went to this place and Joey greeted us right away. He didn’t hesitate to help us with what we wanted. Him and his coworker were very friendly and the environment was amazing. I’m very pleased with his work and customer service. I highly recommend this place.

If I could give Sean any more than 5 stars, I most absolutely would.Not only did we walk in when everyone around were closing their doors & he welcomed us with open arms- but the overall experience was by far a pleasure. The detail he puts into his work is phenomenal. He is very personable, laid back, and overall a joy to be tattooed by. My wife and I went to Rich for our tattoos while we were on our honeymoon. He was super friendly and informative. He is an amazing artist and is truly passionate and cares about every client. It is well worth the prices. I can’t wait to go back and get more from him!

These fellas have a perfect five star rating for a reason. Each artist has over 20+ years of experience and it shows in their work. The pricing was extremely reasonable for their skill and experience level, and they even gave us a discount for booking ahead of time as a group. Cannot recommend this shop enough!

My husband and I both got tattoos here and they turned out amazing! We both got them on our ribs which hurt, but Sean was super cool and patient with us and gave us breaks and water as we needed! Super professional atmosphere, some tattoo places feel like walking into a cult, but not this place! We sent some reference images and the custom tattoos he drew were amazing!! Rich at world famous smokies tattoo went above and beyond to give my husband and I amazing pieces of artwork while we were on vacation! This was my first tattoo and he made sure that I was comfortable the whole session, answering any questions I had, and wiping away all the worries I had about getting a tattoo! My wife and Is experience with world famous smokies tattoo was incredible. We reached out to them before our trip with our tattoo idea. They were very helpful in explaining what would make the tattoo work best and keep it looking good for years to come. We paid the deposit and secured an appointment. Upon arriving at the shop we met Rich and he showed us the design. It was exactly what we wanted. The shop was very clean. Rich kept everything sanitary throughout the entire tattoo. Rich gave us his full attention the entire time. I could not recommend this shop more. If you want an amazing tattoo that you will be very pleased with, this is the place to go.

Rich did my tattoo and he was absolutely amazing! I drove out from Chicago for my birthday weekend and could not have picked a better tattoo artist than Rich. He was super friendly and his shop was so bright and welcoming and made you feel comfortable. Sean was absolutely amazing. I got my first tattoo today while on vacation. I researched places in the area and when I saw that they ONLY HAD 5 star reviews, I knew I had to go there. And now I can see why. Sean helped make the whole thing as comfortable as can be. We listened to Backstreet Boys radio and he allowed me to take as many breaks as needed. This was my first tattoo and I had a wonderful experience! Rich took the time to make sure the design, size, and placement of my tattoo was exactly what I wanted. He answered all of my questions and explained everything thoroughly to me before beginning the tattooing process. The background music and good conversation helped to calm my nerves. I am very happy with the final product and I am grateful to Rich for making this such a positive experience for me and my family. Sean was absolutely amazing! Clean shop with a comforting atmosphere - we listened to music and watched Bob Ross while Sean tattooed myself, my husband, and my mother. My husband and I took a little trip to Gatlinburg and they were able to work us in because we only reached out 2 weeks before going to Gatlinburg. They were smart thinking about our schedule and working us in to two separate days that way in case the weather was nice the one day we had booked and not the others that we got to enjoy our time. The artist was the kindest most down to earth man I have ever met in my entire life! The shop was CLEAN the other artist when he didn’t have a client was cleaning or stocking. Every single time he stepped foot back in the shop he washed his hands. 100% would go again!

World Famous Smokies Tattoo was a phenomenal experience. My dad and I got father/daughter tattoos of an intricate design that holds a lot of meaning to us. Rich wants every tattoo that he does to last a lifetime without bleeding and morphing into something unrecognizable. I have never had a tattoo artist be so open and honest as well as genuinely caring about including every, little detail until I went to World Famous Smokies Tattoo. Spontaneous tattoo with my boyfriend accomplished. Justin put us in touch with Rich who hooked us up with by far our favorite tattoos.The experience we had was great. I stopped in thinking it would just be a consult until tomorrow.I talked to their apprentice, the the artist Sean. After an hour of going over my piece and the details. We agreed a great price as well, less costly than back in Toledo. Sean asked if Id like to get started. The level of professionalism was above par, i was comfortable, the studio was spotless, chair was so comfy I almost fell asleep ( if it weren’t for my arm spazing, I would’ve) Sean took his time, paid attention to every little detail on my piece. It was a no hurry up like most studios. Ive been wanting this done for almost a year, it’s my Jeep grill and the name of my Jeep. It’s very personal to me. And after the day I had today I needed ink therapy. Both gentlemen were also very helpful on locations for me to move to, since I have relocated from Toledo, Ohio. I will be back to see him in the fall to add to my forearm. Thank you guys… by far the best Tat experience EVER

Rich was amazing, not only did he do wonderful work on mine and my wife’s tattoos, but was extremely professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. We had great conversations during the whole process. He explained why he was going to tattoo us a certain way and how it will allow it to look better longer. You can easily tell he is not only passionate about his work, but also about his customers. The only downside is he lives too far away to be our go to tattoo guy, but we will definitely be back next time we are in town.

World Famous Smokies Tattoo is very professional, knowledgeable, and caring. The online process was very easy and I was very thankful for onsite parking.Rich did a phenomenal job with explaining the process of my tattoo and the healing process. My wife, our friend, and I all came fairly late as a walk in just to see about getting tattoos. Ended up spending 6 and a half hours here getting tattoos. Sean was very professional and personal. This is by far one of my best tattoo experiences I’ve had (and there’s been many) though it may look small on the outside, the artwork that come out of this shop is hard to beat. This place definitely exceeded my expectations. To start, I am very picky and I take a deep dive on where I would be willing to get a tattoo. It is an intimate shop and the experience is personal. My mom and I got matching tattoos. My mom almost backed out since it was her first. The artist was so patient, calm, and explained everything. He eased her nerves and she received an incredible tattoo. The place is very clean and they pay close attention to detail. While traveling to Gatlinburg my wife and I decided to get tattoos to remember the experience. I can not say enough about this shop. Everything was such a ease from setting up the appointment, coming up with the designs, and actually getting the tattoos. We did not feel rush or like this was a shop just trying to get as many customers in during the day as they could. I would recommend this place to anyone. In fact we will be keeping it in mind for tattoos on future trips to the Smokey Mountains.

We just happened to stumble upon this place in our hotel parking lot while on vacation. He got my husband right in and did the best job I’ve ever seen! If I could give 100 stars I would! He is very personable and takes pride in taking care of his clients! Highly recommend!!!

Update March 2024:After our appts, it’s been decided that this is not only the BEST tattoo shop in East TN, but now the ONLY shop we’ll go to. My boyfriend and I were both able to be scheduled for the same day, back to back appts with the owner Rich. This dude was awesome! Both tattoos were things I’d drawn on Procreate and they turned out PERFECT! I’m kind of nit-picky especially when it comes to something I’ve personally drawn, so if I see any differences, I’ll definitely point them out. But Rich’s work is amazing and on point, like another copy-paste tattoo! We were there for like his entire Sunday —like a full 9-10hrs n he was super chill. Didn’t get frustrated, hell he didn’t even seem tired or fatigued! We both had a moment where we were either hungry or just lightheaded from hunger n Rich was super cool about it. We took a minute, snacked for a few mins, he opened up the place to let the sunshine n fresh air in n then we started back up again! He was super down to earth too, we chatted the whole time, no awkward silent moments or any of that. We both got bigger tatts on our arms but we were sat in comfortable positions and he played music of our own preference. I’m beyond satisfied with Rich’s work and will definitely be back again!July 2021:Sean was amazing! Superb line work and extremely friendly!! I brought in my own design n it looks like it was copied n pasted right onto my arm, literally perfect! I could not be more happy with how it’s turned out, I’d say of all my tattoos, this one so far is my new favorite! Not only were both guys super friendly and chill, but they worked hard to make sure I was comfortable and the areas were clean. Next time I’m down in Gatlinburg, I’ll more than likely be getting another. Very responsive and helpful with any questions I had.When we arrived my tattoo artist Shawn already had something drawn up but asked for my opinion and wanted to make sure I was comfortable with the piece before printing it out. He even printed out different sizes so I could decide what I felt would look best.Shawn and his apprentice were very welcoming and down to earth guys. They made sure we were comfortable during the entire time and allowed me to pick the music for the session. All in all this was an excellent experience, great environment, and the tattoo work was incredible!! I am beyond satisfied with the work Shawn did and his attention to detail to make sure the tattoo was perfect. I would highly recommend this place!!

So while my girlfriend and I were on vacation here we decided we would just check out a place and get a price on something. After searching reviews we landed on this one. We went there and talked to Sean. He was more than helpful and so friendly and just all around great to talk to. He gave us a price and we decided we would make an appointment for the following day. They were busy that day but he offered to come in early to do my tattoo, but I later decided rather than him having to come in early we would do it that night.Let me tell you Sean did such an amazing job on the small one I had him do and I was so pleased, that my girlfriend and I both went back the following day and got tattoos. They turned out amazing! The shop was clean, both Rich and Sean were so professional and personable. I fully intend to make the 6 hour drive from Ohio just to get work here in the future. Upon day 2 of my journey into the Smoky Mountains, I had been blessed to experience some of the most beautiful geography and wildlife in my life. Unfortunately, all of the Smoky mountains have been dwarfed in comparison to my experience with Sean. I have never witnessed such committed craftsmanship. Let me give you guys a little secret, all the other shops in Gatlinburg are owned by the same guy and are designed to target tourist. They are “get em in and out” kinda shops. Not worth your time if you’re into tattoos that you wanna show people.I am heavily tattooed and have been to a lot of shops and the one lesson I’ve learned is you get what you pay for. SMOKIES IS LEGIT. My wife and I visited Smokies for tattoos during our trip. We booked the appointments ahead of time and sent our reference via email. They were able to work with us on pricing (they were larger tattoos) and were very caring about quality.Our artist was kind and knowledgeable and did fabulous work. I have thousands of dollars of ink on me and I can honestly say the tattoo I got at Smokies is the best on my body. The next time I’m in town I will be seeing them again.

I came in town from Los Angeles and Sean had availability to get me during my short visit out here. Before the procedure, he made sure to go over everything in detail about care taking, making sure I liked the placement and ensuring I liked the size of the tattoo. Sean was very detail oriented and professional throughout the entire time. He makes great conversation throughout the work and makes sure youre doing okay. Great pricing and excellent work. I highly recommend and would come visit Gatlinburg again just to have another piece done. 10/10

I was tattooed by Sean. He was very professional and nice during the whole experience. The tattoo was noticeably less painful than other places, and you could tell every drop of ink was placed in the skin with purpose. The work is top notch and the lines are clean. I also have very sensitive skin and noticed little to no irritation afterwards. Very please with my experience, 10/10 work and will definitely be back again.

I got my first tattoo at Smokies and Sean was my artist. He was super nice, professional and personable! I told him my concerns about the sizing of the tattoo for when I go back into the work in a few months and he gave me the option of 3 different sizes and placed it on a less visible area of my arm. He was super light handed when tattoing, asked if I needed water or breaks or anything at all. I would definitely recommend anyone to go here. He did a beautiful job and the pricing is also really fair considering how amazing my tattoo turned out to be!!!! Im super pleased with his work!

Most amazing tattoo experience I’ve had! I have 3 other tattoos, and Sean our tattoo artist gave me two tattoos today. Took his time and made sure to be precise and make sure it was exactly what I wanted. He is very friendly and very kind! Also has a gently touch and doesn’t push down hard with the ink pen. Sean is the artist that we were scheduled with. When I tell you theres no one better or more comfortable to be tattooed by, I mean theres none other like him. Me and my husband got matching tattoos for our anniversary. Slightly cliche idea, but the work was pretty unique. We were there for quite a while but each piece was about 3/4 hours long. He was able to get us in early, he worked with us on our ideas and changes, and all specifications. He made suggestions, asked a lot of questions. And made sure we were 110% happy with the idea and placement before getting it ready for final stages. I didnt even have to see the stencil on to know I was going to love it. Sean has very clean line work. Very smooth with all of his work and shading and details. He is light handed so I didnt have to worry about getting ink in my bone marrow haha. All jokes aside, I wasnt the absolute easiest to work with, but he made sure I was tolerating everything and comfortable the whole time. Same for my husband, there was never a time where he was rude or fussy or aggravated by our need to snack or walk or bathroom breaks. He is patient, the shop is super clean and private. Dont be hesitant to schedule an appointment or drop the deposit. Its beyond being well worth the money and time he puts in. Best experience Ive had in all 5 of my different sessions, was here. I will be back, even if I have to find him in another state. He enjoys doing what he does, and when your artist is excited about the work, the work is always going to be better.

I had a great experience at Smokies Tattoo! I booked an appt for a piece and after I arrived, I told Sean that I had a change of heart and asked if he could do a different tattoo. He didn’t even hesitate and made it even better than the original photo. I highly recommend! I absolutely love my new tattoo!

From the moment I walked through the door for my appointment and was met by a smiling Sean, to the moment I walked out over 2 hours later and shook the hand of an artist it was a great experience. I live in the UK and before Covid I priced up the same tattoo at $725 - $850 so I fully expected to pay around $1000, but Sean charged abou half that for a fantastic job. We chatted while the relaxed his hands and he never stopped smiling.But you want to know about the tattoo.The studio is spotless, the equipment is cleaned and covered before. He starts. He cleans and prepares the site, settles you on the chair and off he goes. No rush, just silent concentration. The result, in my case, was a fantastic gray shaded Planet Jupiter with a blue aurora to set it off. Sean added some good white highlights that really seperate the swirling cloud formations.I would reccomend Sean if you are in the area, I am already planning a return on my 2023 vacation for Sean to give me a tattoo of Saturn to join Jupiter.Thanks Sean.

Rich and Sean were great. Personable with a good sense of humor and they were patient and willing to make sure we got the lines right, placement correct, and sizing exactly how we wanted. Its a small little place, but you get a really unique hands on type of experience and youre made to feel welcome and encouraged regardless of you levels\amounts of tattoo experience.
