I’ve been coming here for about a year now, and I recommend American Gypsy to everyone! The artists are super talented, positive, and helpful. All my piercings have healed great, all the tattoos I’ve seen were finished so fast and done so well. I just went for their Friday the 13th sale and it was crowded but they worked through people really quickly. Def recommend!

Ive come to American Gypsy for two Friday the 13ths and I absolutely love it! Staff is always super friendly and helpful even during stressful events like these. The building itself is clean and really neat inside with a lot of art to look at.My partner has gone here for years for both tattoos and piercings, and I dont think they want to go anywhere else. If youre looking for an artist that not only works with you, but works along side you, look no further. My husband and I recently went in for tattoos, and we were treated so wonderfully. David and Shelby worked to collaborate pieces for us that not only took our ideas, my sketch. But, they built off of it and made it one of a kind. The shop is quant, the interaction personable, and the treatment was tailored to us for sure. I would definitely recommend them. Additionally, Davids art around the shop is probably my absolute favorite!! You wont be disappointed.

Sadly, I’ve only had the privilege of coming in on the Friday the 13th flash days. Thankfully, even during these HECTIC days, everyone has been stellar. David is a superb artist, and Shelby is equally phenomenal.The shop is clean, organized, and the atmosphere is positive and lively. The dedication to client satisfaction is unmatched.If a shop can make this much of a positive impact on flash days, I can only imagine what a full session would be like. Shelby, David, and Ashley were all friendly, inviting, and highly professional. The studio is clean and comfortable, with great artwork on every wall. This was my first tattoo and Shelby helped calm my nerves and reassure me. She was perfect at helping me flesh out the concept I had for my tattoo and it turned out just like I hoped!

I found this place on Google and it was close to the Air B&B we were staying at in Austin. The staff here is really friendly and don’t mind having a few laughs with you. That always makes it a good time. The artists were really good and made sure we were good as well. I have to mention that Absolutely Stunningly Talented artist that works here by the name of David. Me and my cousin were admiring the are hanging on the walls around the shop and so happened to ask about one of them. Turns out David painted them… 👀😲 When he told us the story and meaning behind each of his paintings were blown away! I just really hate that I didn’t take pictures of all of them. This guy has a talent that is truly undiscovered! It’s crazy how much talent is out there and people just don’t know about it. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 He has some pieces that I’d love to have hanging in my home. The pricing here is what you’d expect to pay for good art. If you have something different or creative in mind there’s no doubt David can make it a reality. By the way he’s the artist and his wife is the hand at the needle… 💯💯💯

I just had the best experience with AGT. Me and my husband had dual appointments with Dave & Shelby and from the start, it was a super awesome experience. They literally took what was in our minds and put it on paper not once or twice, but several times until it was perfect. By combining their industry knowledge with our ideas, they designed our tattoos as if they were crafting their own. Application was FLAWLESS. My fine line lace was hand drawn by Shelby and I’ve never had such beautiful work done. We cannot thank them enough for giving us such exquisite work and if your considering having a tattoo done get on their books, it’s a little bit of a wait, but soooo worth it!

Me and my sister went here to get our noses pierced for the first time. We have nothing but great things to say. From the moment we walked in we were greeted as if they had known us since forever. It was very welcoming. And they spoke SPANISH! Which is a plus for me because they were able to communicate with my mom. The process was easy and simple. Also with this being our first time they were more than understanding and patient with us. Especially me since I was very nervous to get my nose pierced. 😂. I 100% recommend going here!

Went to get my septum pierced, they were friendly but they seemed like they were rushing. Put in the wrong size bar, which was way too small, and didn’t want to change it for a bigger one but later they did. Realized after I got home, that it’s crooked. My friend was pierced by someone else, and got her second nose piercing, for a paired nostril and it’s not symmetrical.

Would recommend 1000%. They did absolutely beautiful work and helped me make decisions when asked but didn’t force their opinions on me. It was a genuinely welcoming atmosphere and I felt completely comfortable there. Thank you so much for making my vision come to life!

Shelby and Justice are absolutely amazing! I have gotten my nose, second lobe, and third love done by them. I took my daughter here to get her 2nd lobe and her two cartilage piercings. Also, my nieces got their first lobe piercings here. I highly recommend them!

Quick response time, wonderful in assisting with scheduling appointment, personable, made me feel comfortable, worked with me with appointment, I got a ring tattoo and my second nose piercing here, and they did my first one a few years back that had closed up. Very clean shop, sanitized before and after as well!! Beautiful people and will go back again!

Our daughter wanted her ears pierced for her 16th birthday. We walked in, filled out the necessary info and walked back within 5 minutes of arriving! They did her ears in tandem so it would be less stressful for her (she was a bit nervous). They told her not to use any cleaning solution, just run water over it in the shower, no twisting it (like we were all told back in the day) and theyve healed beautifully! She had them done at Claires back when she was 7 and they never healed properly, were always infected and sore, so we took them out after a couple of months. This had been a night and day difference! $20 for the entire process including the jewelry cant be beat! Other places charge $70 for the piercing alone! If we ever have any other piercing needs, this 100% will be the place we go, even tho its a 40 minute drive from our house. Thanks so much for a great experience and making it less stressful for our daughter!

David was able to fit my husband and I in 30 minutes before closing (I know, we were those people). We had decided at the last minute to get tattoos for our wedding anniversary. He and his wife Shelby were more than happy to accommodate our pour planning. Our tattoos turned out perfect, even better than I had imagined! They even text the next day to make sure that we were happy with our tattoos. My husband and I will 100% be back for more work. Also Shelby makes some amazing soaps, we couldnt resist buying a variety pack of them. Thanks yall for making our anniversary so special!

After not being able to find a new tattoo artist or even a tattoo parlor for years, I am glad to say we have found a new home to get work done. David, David and Shelby all are amazing people. I called to make an appointment for ear piercing for my daughter and the owner was so nice and friendly on the phone. No appointment needed for piercings and to come on in whenever or right now. Lol. I instantly felt comfortable going there. When we got there, there where a few people in front of us for piercings and he could tell my daughter was nervous and was about to bolt out of there so he asked the others if we could go ahead of them. Him and his wife where very gentle and considerate and did everything possible to make my daughter feel comfortable. They pierced her ears at the same time and super fast. Thank you for making the experience great. She is so happy and super excited to show everyone!

Got granddaughters ears pierced! They were absolutely great with the girls! Then me & my daughter decided to get matching tattoos and they were able to accommodate us! They did a wonderful job!Highly recommend!

While visiting Texas from Virginia, I decided I wanted a small tattoo. I reached out to Shelby, who was very accommodating and made an appointment for me. She gave me a beautiful bluebonnet while David worked with my husband as a walk-in. We both left satisfied and enjoyed the company. Highly recommend.

Amazing job piercing my 4 year olds ears ❤️

I walked in for a nose piercing because another piercer at a different shop was out of town. The process was so quick and easy so I thought. It’s been about 4 weeks and I noticed recently my nose piercing was infected. I personally don’t recommend the shop. They weren’t gentle just in and out, which if the piercing was done correctly, I wouldn’t have minded, but seeing as it’s infected, I’m not impressed.

I brought my 8 year old daughter in 3 weeks ago to get her ears pierced for the first time. David and Shelby made the experience quick and easy for us, and pierced both ears simultaneously so she barely had time to even let out a yelp before they had her all cleaned up and ready to go. Their shop was clean and sanitary, and they were knowledgeable and personable.Two weeks later, one of my daughters earrings got stuck in her ear while we were out of town. David and Shelby gave me guidance to get us through over the phone, then took her in to swap out her earrings for something bigger once we got back in town. Overall great piercing experience and whole heartedly recommend!

They were great with my daughter. She was nervous about getting her ears pierced and moved when he did the second ear so he had to do it again but it was still a great experience. He explained everything to her and told her the things she should and should not do while they are healing. Very reasonable prices on jewelry as well.

Me and my friend went and got our nipples pierced and they did an amazing job. They did it quickly and professionally and they talked about every step as they were doing it which was super helpful for my friend as she was very nervous to get her first professionally piercing. Definitely am coming back here for more piercings and tattoos.

Went in for David’s January special on permanent makeup. Years ago I had my eyebrows microbladed somewhere else, and they had turned a weird color and faded. I was a little nervous, but David turned out to be an amazing permanent makeup artist, made me feel right at home and super relaxed, and the process was almost painless and completely fast! I’m amazed...Not only are they the perfect color shade that compliments my hair and skin tone, but the shape and natural “hair strokes” look 100% real! He is amazing and I will be back for eyeliner and regular touch ups, even after I move I’ll drive back for his work. David at American Gypsy should be your only go-to for this kind of work. The best place in Texas to acquire skin art. I know the owners personally, and you wont find two people more dedicated to customer service, and to their art. You will feel like family when experiencing David and Kelleys personal touch...they are incredible artists, and even better people! I have had friends and family members get tattoos here. First, they all turn out even better than what they can imagine. And secondly they always seem to find another tattoo to get because they love this place so much. I recently got my nose pierced here, when it came time to switch my stud, I was having major challenges. They helped me on the fly and out of the goodness of their heart. Next is a tattoo!

Brought my teen daughter in for some ear piercings a conch and something else I have no clue about since Im a boring dad. But both were expertly put in and the owner was very patient as my daughter passed out from having my weak genetics and zero shock tolerance after the 1st piercing.

Love the atmosphere and the genuine talent of this place. Freedom tattoos used to be in this building, and it sucks that AG is there because not many people know it has changed. The old tattoo shop that used to be there made that buildings rep pretty bad but I think with time AG can quickly change that now.. I strongly suggest this place!!!

Came here with my wife on short notice for Roman numeral tattoo on our ring fingers. Other places tried to charge us 100 bucks each because hands heal differently. The couple that works here are friendly, professional and created a relaxing environment for us. My wife really liked that they were gentle on her hand as some artists you feel like they’re digging into the skin. Got our Roman numerals tattoos and my wife’s name on my neck for an affordable price. We will definitely be back for more work!!

I have been to American Gypsy for a few different pieces I have been working on. This place is clean, and the people in it are so friendly, and down-to-earth, you almost want to take them home with you!! The work done has always been excellent, and the prices are very competitive. If you want a good tattoo or piercing, I recommend this place!!

Artist set down with me and went over the layout of the design, and were very open to what I wanted integrated in the sleeve. They helped me create the Art and turn it into the story I wanted. These guys are dope and I highly recommend.

To the guest that paid $50 for a septum piercing - American Gypsy Tattoo does normal earlobe piercings for $20. I dont know of any tattoo shop that will do a septum for $20.Have visited David 3 times and I will continue to go back! Fair pricing and beautiful art

Went in with my wife to get my first tattoo David and Emma made us feel welcomed and very comfortable ( i was nervous at first). Emma did my tattoo for me it was Boba Fetts helmet with crossed bones and she did a very very good job with it. I even got my wife to get another one which David did on her arm. My name is Cherokee, & I am terrified of needles, so when I finally got up the nerve to get 1 done, my husband got his 1st so I can see what was involved with it, & how the hand of the artist was heavy or light. for my 1st prof, tatt I got my 2 sons names on my leg, I was so inpressed with the people there & the atmosphere that I decided to get more work done, so I went back & David Justice the owner took me as a client knowing I was still terrified of needles, I wanted a halo & wings for my 1st son as I lost him when he was born, he got my mind off of the tattoo by talking to me bout anything & everything, & I didnt even noticed he had already started tattooing my leg, When he was finished all the artists in AGT including Camile, Davids wife came over to admire the art work & told me how brave & good I was, right then & there I was sold on AGT, I have jus recently got my 3rd tat which is vampire bites on my neck, & David Justice did an amazing job that people actually stop me & ask me who bit me on my neck, AGT is the by far best tattoo & body modifaction place in the hill country, as soon as you walk into the door u r greeted & welcomed in. The entire staff is amazing, & wonderful from all walks of life, like Chris Rodgers, their Body Modification artist (Body peircer) yes he look mean, scary & all around strange with his bull ring & his rainbow beard, But he is truely a sweetheart, which goes to show ya, u can not judge a book by the cover.
