Modern Elegance Tattoo & Body Piercing

Made an appointment with this guy named Alex Maxwell. He wanted me to get a floating navel belly button piercing that was way more expensive but that may go better with my anatomy. Which i understand but its my choice. I didnt want that kind of piercing. Which also limits my jewelry choices and he told me he wasnt gonna do it for me. After going there 3 times to try to get my piercing done. And I got turned down all 3 times. The second time it was 2 hours before closing and he told the lady at the front that he was done for the night. He made it seem like I had a choice between a regular piercing and a floating navel. But at the end of the day because I decided to go with the regular piercing he declined to do a regular piercing on me. So I guess there really wasnt a choice. It was his way or no way. Even though we had an appointment and waited 15 minutes after the appointment time. I saved this money to get my own piercing done. And he made this first experience terrible for me and my mother. I dont recommend going here for a piercing. It maybe a waste of time money and energy. We should be able to get whatever piercing we want on our bodys. Since when is piercings and tattoos regulated like this. This body art is supposed to be a way people can express themselves. And to do cool things with jewelry etc. And it should be what we want.

Alex Maxwell did an amazing job on my son’s piercing. The best experience I have ever had, including my own. He was very knowledgeable and really took the time to explain everything to us and make sure our questions were answered as well. My son says he didn’t even feel it at all. Highly recommend!

I highly recommend Alex for piercings. He’s very knowledgeable on what works with your particular anatomy. Definitely a reputable and ethical piercer. He won’t just pierce something and take your money knowing it won’t heal well because of your specific anatomy.

About 9-10 years ago I hit a point where I had 10 piercings in my face/ears all done by Tom at Subculturez. He left a great impression and became my go-to for the best quality piercings. Today, almost a decade later, I went back for my 11th. Tom wasnt there today, but Kenny was and he took just as good care of me as Tom always did. Professional, accepting, and was happy to work with me on extremely meticulous placement to make sure the new piece lined up with an existing one.I walked away today feeling confident both in the Subculturez standards that I remembered and in Kenny as another piercer I can reliably go to for excellent work.

I took my teen daughter here to get her nose pierced. They were very professional, very understanding that I had my 2 other littles with me as well. Were now entertaining a tattoo from here. Theyre also super clean. I would recommend this location.

My daughter got her tragus pierced. The piercer was very knowledgeable and explained everything thoroughly. He was very nice and I would recommend him to anyone. I also like the fact that he doesnt do piercing that he feel is unsafe or might have future issues.

I have had hours and hours of work done here by Babin and Dan over the last decade and its one of my favourite places to be! This shop puts out some of the best work in all of Volusia County and does it while being honest and friendly. Babin and Mike set the tone with their good leadership and the younger artists that come in to hone their skills are constantly bringing fresh new ideas and styles. This is the place to be, whether you want some sweet flash or whether you have a mish mash of ideas swirling that needs to be honed by an artist.

Moss did my tattoo and I love it! He is great and works with you to make sure you get exactly what youre looking for, with fair pricing. The shop has a great vibe and all the employees are cool to chill and talk with while youre there.

Just had an ear piercing there. Place is clean, smells nice, had good music. Piercer made me feel comfortable, explained what he was doing and talked to me. Was damn near painless, 10 times better than having it done with a gun. I didn’t even flinch. Will be back.

I see everyones writing a review about skelator I thought Id chip In and say he really does take what he does seriously and I love that. I felt way better after realizing that because truly I was super nervous. Also I had no idea what I wanted and he picked everything even the stud. I couldnt have picked better so Im super happy with everything!!!!! Btw I got the conch piercing hes checked it for me like twice when I came in just to make sure its healing well. Tom did an amazing job piercing my 14 year old. Highly recommend him to anyone getting a piercing but especially anyone who is nervous. He was so nice, accommodating and gentle. He didn’t make her feel bad for being nervous and gave her plenty of time afterwards to make sure she felt okay. Amazing experience!

Tom was amazing and helpful. My eldest and I got our septums pierced together today and he provided a clean, safe, comfortable environment. Im not new to getting tattoos and piercings but my eldest is and Tom was very understanding about my kiddos nerves. Were all geeks as well and having that in common made for great interactions. Their prices are on par for piercings now and days and asking for a quote on a tattoo addition, their pricing their is actually really good and reasonable. For sure, I will be a returning customer.

Luis @Subculturez was OUTSTANDING. This guy is not only freakishly talented, but he also made me feel extremely comfortable with the entire process. Im 4 days out and Ive had no problems at all with healing. The work is great, the lines are clean, and he didnt brutalize my arm in the process. I’ve worked with subculturez over the years for both piercings and tattoos and they have many extremely talented tattoo artists but I wanted to write a review to specifically mention the piercer Tom. Tom is by far the most thorough and talented piercer I have ever encountered. On top of that he is genuinely a kind and courteous person over all. Any piercing you need done I would recommend Tom everyday all day.

My sister wanted to celebrate her birthday with a helix piercing. I was along just for support. Tom did our piercings, yes I got one too. That wasn’t the initial plan.Tom was so meticulous in making sure placement was just right, explaining every detail. He advised that some things we wanted wouldn’t be the best option, making sure we would love the end product. He wasn’t just looking for the sale. Tom made sure Everything was triple cleaned and sterile.We ended by up getting matching helix piercings.My niece wanted her conch pierced, so we went back a second time the next day. She and my sister got matching piercings and I got TWO more in my other ear a helix and a flat.Tom’s professionalism and attention to detail, cleanliness and great reviews from friends is why we went to Subculturz, and why we will return.

Just went to get pierced by Tom for the second time. He’s really great. Takes the time to make sure the piercing is well placed and is super friendly. I haven’t had any problems with either of the piercings he’s done and they look great. He has a good selection of quality jewelry among multiple price ranges. Some shops can feel like an assembly line; get them done and get them out. I’ve never felt that way here. Don’t hesitate to go here. Well worth it.

My piercings had closed up since I was younger and I went here to get them redone. Tom was so nice and he ended up only needed to pierce one and he got an earring through the other. I was very nervous but the staff didn’t make me feel uncomfortable at all. Everyone was so nice and answered any questions I had. I would 100% go back if I want another piercing.

I absolutely LOVED my time here!!! It’s my birthday, I haven’t had piercings since three months old. I couldn’t remember the feeling of a needle going through my ear, so as you’d expect, I was really nervous. However, Tom is the one who did my Helix piercing and I was stoked with the outcome! He’s comforting, as well as the indoor decorations. My piercing was professionally done and I was talked to the entire time so I wouldn’t get caught by surprise. I’m coming back most definitely!

If you want a piercing please go here. If you have to wait, it will be worth the time. The guy who does the piercings is super professional, taking his time, using new gloves at every stage, etc. gave me several options for both a nose piercing/reopening and for a standard helix. The ear piercing was almost pain free! Everyone said it would be painful, but it was not! Very happy thank you!

Have done all of my piercings with them, and my husband had an amazing tattoo by Omar. Amazing place and people.

I was very impressed with his eye for detail, professionalism, and the education he provided me.I went in for a septum piercing. He spent some time looking for my septum and informed me that I do not have one as well as other options if I really wanted it but that he wouldn’t recommend. We changed it out to getting my second hole on my ears (which are also uniquely shaped). He gave me two options, taking into account rather it was more important for the new piercing to be seen more easily or if I wanted to gauge my first hole more.He took his time and got the placement perfect, wearing gloves the whole time. When it was time to pierce, he thoroughly washed his hands and put on new gloves. I think he went through 3 pairs total.

I had the pleasure of being tattooed by omar and it was a great decision definitely will be getting all of my tattoos from him from now on.. He is very friendly and makes the experience very comfortable and relaxing. I gave him a idea of what I wanted and he came back with a tattoo I absolutely love. Its not fully completed but just of my session with him and how the tattoo came out I will absolutely be going back to finish this one and get many more from him ..

Came here yesterday for a nose piercing and Im so glad I got it here! The piercing room was very clean and sanitary (also has amazing Marvel and Rick and Morty wall decor). The piercer Tom was very nice, took his time in finding the right placement of the piercing, and was funny. You can just tell he loves his job!

Went here to get my nose pierced. I live in deland for years so I’ve heard of this place before, and felt comfortable going to it because I’ve heard only good things.I had literally the best time ever getting my nose pierced in Subculturez. super nice and beautiful inside lots of artistic nerd art and eclectic appreciation too look at 10/10 all the Rick & Morty stuff. The guy was super educated on what he was doing and how piercings and everything about his job that works. It’s usually a good thing when going in to getting a needle in your face. I was 10 out of 10 super happy with my visit as well as my piercing. I would highly consider go back here for any tattoo or any piercing at any time.

My tattoo artist is Luis Martinez. He is an awesome artist. Makes you feel comfortable and super easy to have a conversation with. He works with you on anything that you want. His work is like no other and when he draws up something it sure is special. The detail on it is amazing down to the fine line work. Definitely will be getting more work done.

He is extremely open to the design you have in mind and uses his creativity and knowledge you give him to construct a piece original to you. I am an older person & my first time in a tattoo place of business. My first impression was that the front greeting area & the area where my work was done was extremely clean. So right away my nervousness went down to 0. The people were very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. My piercer was Tom...seemed highly skilled and I am more than satisfied.

I come to subculturez for all of my tattoos now. I only have ten but most of them I got done here and I am happy with how theyve turned out. Very clean environment. Smells nice and feels professional. I feel like I always get the tattoo I came for (my ideas are communicated well and the tattoo itself turns out great) I want to get another done here soon.

I got my tattoo done by a artist 4-5 years ago that is no longer with them, so I thought I would want to stick with them for my next tattoo. I walk in and a piercer looks right at me and doesn’t say a word, workers come out talking about food still & don’t say anything to me or acknowledge me sitting there, I sat there for 15-20 mins before someone even acknowledged me and the only reason they did was because they thought I was someone else. Once I actually talked to a tattoo artist (that I didn’t even like the work of) they sent me to, he was trying to drag out the sessions and seemed uninterested. Overall the energy was off in that place, I decided to go to untouchable ink where I was greeted immediately and had a consultation and appointment set up right then and there. Definitely not professional

I went to Tommy at Subculturez to remove a Philtrum piercing that was extremely off-center... and to redo the piercing two months later. The difference between the two experiences was drastic. This piercing is properly placed and it looks BEAUTIFUL! So happy with it. I definitely recommend him for a professional experience and professional results.

The best $300, 30 minute tattoos in Deland! I am happy with the outcome of my piece. Although, after paying I feel slightly taken advantage of due to the time length of the tattoo and the price I was charged.. Live and learn. 😅

I hate to leave bad reviews and don’t normally do but this review is based strictly on A PIERCING and has nothing to do with any of the tattoo artists. I went here a few weeks back to treat myself with a piercing for my birthday. This is something I don’t ever do, especially having three kids, because I don’t usually have extra money to spend on piercings and such. The piercer was quite unpersonable right off the bat, but I wanted my nostril pierced so I got it done despite the uncomfortable vibes. A few days after I got the piercing and my swelling went down some I started noticing that it was poorly angled. I’ve received comments from friends over the last few weeks that it’s “crooked” and I agree. I also had a few other reputable piercers confirm to me that it was angled poorly. I went in and had it looked at in which he told me the angle is a bit off but it wasn’t the cause of my irritation, though I know for a fact that a poorly angled piercing can definitely cause unnecessary irritation and poor healing. I asked if the angle would get any better as it healed in which the response was just a no. It just seems he didn’t really care that he did a subpar job on a nostril piercing I paid $60 plus a tip for. I get that mistakes happen. I’m a super nice person and I get it completely, but have some passion for your job and care to make it right maybe?! At this point I’m just annoyed I wasted my money and have to go somewhere else down the road and pay for the piercing to be done correctly and at the right angle.

I went for a cartilage piercing, and I’m so glad I did! The experience was great, and Tom was super nice. What i didn’t know is that you have to get a form notarized because I’m a minor but we went to the UPS store nearby. I would definitely go here again.

Got my vertical labret done here! Was done quickly, minimal pain, and no bruising afterwards. Time was taken to make sure piercing was straight and centered. Would definitely recommend. Loved my experience here! Will return for more piercings.

Absolutely adore my tattoo done by Omar. His art is custom and he is so gentle--- I barely felt anything. Truly recommend if you are looking for clean work.

Ive never had an experience at any business quite like the one I had at Subculturez. I had been wanting a new ear piercing and had heard good things about Subculturez over the years, since many friends had gone to this business for piercings. I called ahead to make sure that walk-ins were accepted at this shop, and was met with a very rushed and impatient employee on the phone. I went in the same day with a friend and was not greeted or addressed by any of the employees in the shop, even though they could see me waiting. I tried walking back and forth to catch someones attention, but I was still ignored. Nobody was at the front table, either. After 10 minutes went by, I left because I was so uncomfortable and disappointed by the poor customer service (or rather, the lack of any customer service).

The piercer was very nice and got me in and out quick. I loved the jewlery, i have gotten so many compliments on it i changed my hair color to match the stone.Making an appointment for getting a tattoo was pretty easy. Everyone seems really nice and genuine.

Tried to get a nose piercing 3 times in one week. They were either not open (even though it was listed as open hours) or the piercer had left early, but you can’t make an appointment. I was told to come back another day and again, doors locked even though advertised as open hours. I called several times and no one ever answers the phone. Just poorly run business. Go to About You instead. Awesome and friendly place for half the price.

I went into Subculturez today to get my septum ring (not done at this shop) widened a bit, to make it easier to flip up into my nose.I normally don’t write reviews but I was so extremely pleased with how polite and knowledgeable the piercer was. He not only confirmed that where I got my septum pierced to begin with, had pierced it crooked and through the cartilage, but he widened the ring for me at no charge.He also gave me a FREE bottle of H2O cleaner to take home.I’m kicking myself for not remembering his name but he definitely made an impression that I won’t forget. I will be coming back to him to get my septum pierced correctly. I will also be passing along my short but great experience at this shop.

I got my nose pierced here. Great experience. Very good at what they do. Decided to go back to get my 5th tattoo. Decided to go with Omar. He does very nice work and my tattoo looks great but... When I originally inquired about the price he told me $200 and never asked me to fill out any consent paperwork. So I came back a few hours later that day to do the outline (it was a big piece. Needed more than one session). The first experience was great. I went back 2 weeks later to get the color done. He tattooed so hard I ended up bruising later that day and I bled quite a bit (again... not my first tattoo). At the end of the session Omar asked how I would be paying that day, which I thought was strange because I had paid the first time I was there. I was then informed that it was $200 a session... So if I had sat through the pain the first time the tattoo would be $200 but if I split the sessions in half it was $400? Not to mention I was in so much pain that I was coming in for a third session to finish the shading and touch ups. So that would be $600 for a tattoo? I dont think so. He didnt bother to mention all of this until after he was done with the color. Then a few days later he texts my personal cell phone number to ask me a favor for his friend. So unprofessional and inappropriate. His work is amazing but not worth the money and the texts when Ive only met him twice. Needless to say if you go here beware of the pricing and make sure you get the full price upfront and make sure you fill out the paperwork... I still have not been asked to. Be careful.

Tom has done multiple piercings of mine and has always given me the best advice as far as after care. He has always given his honest opinion regarding placement of piercings, which I truly appreciate because other piercers will just say yes, go ahead , for the extra buck. Tom has even helped me heal piercings done by other piercers, just because he cares. He takes his job seriously and really educates himself to know why things happen, and what to do in the event things go wrong, which is bound to happen from time to time. I would definitely recommend Tom to anyone looking for a new piercing or additional piercings.

I got a tattoo from here about a week ago from Omar, and his line work is AMAZING!! I have had endless compliments on my tattoo, and the line work, and I cannot wait to finish my tattoo and even add more. 10/10 recommend to anyone!

I went to see Omar because he was highly recommended. After talking with him I paid him to do a draw up for me and he was going to text me pictures as he was doing the draw up. I paid him a deposit. A month passed and I heard nothing from him so I finally called and he told me to follow him on Facebook and keep REMINDING him about my draw up. He said he was getting close to starting mine and that he had been very busy, which I can understand that. It has now been almost a year and I’ve still heard nothing from him and never got even one text or call regarding my draw up. I requested that he give my money back and he never responded! Horrible business!!! I would not recommend this place!!!!!

Brissa is Amazing! I was able to get a piece done by her while she was at the Philadelphia Tattoo Convention. She is a great artist who goes out of her way to make sure that the clients feel comfortable and heard when talking about the designs and placements. You walk into the business sign in, no one greets you or even acknowledge your presence. I literally had to walk in the room to ask who was going to assist me and one of the staff was playing a video game. Finally someone came out and asked if I came for piercings answered the questions and still nothing. I will NOT recommend anyone to a facility who doesn’t have enough courtesy to greet their guest. They are in the back congregating as if their costumers aren’t present.

Stopped in 15 minutes after the place opened to see about getting a piercing. There was no one at the counter to assist me. I waited about 5 minutes and no one came to check for customers so I left. I went to Ink Ink tattoos in Sanford and got my piercing. I was immediately greeted and assisted at Ink Ink. Its a shame you lost business over the simple matter of being aware when you have customers in your business. Im pretty sure whoever was supposed to be attending to customers was hanging out in back socializing with the tattoo artist while he worked. And if Im wrong you guys should consider having dedicated coverage of the front area so youre aware and attentive to customers. Customers shouldnt have to seek out getting service. You are a service industry and you failed at servicing a customer.

Living in Deltona I was doing research on Tattoo parlors And came across Subculture tattoos in Orange City. I read reviews some good some bad. Omar the tattoo artist seemed to be a good artist. So I called to see if I may ask questions. The person who answered the phone was extremely Rude I said good afternoon and he just said how can he help me again I said good afternoon and with sarcastic voice he said what can I do for you. Lets just say it was not a good conversation. When you run a business you should be polite to people you speak with on the phone I ask about Omar and he said he was busy. I said ok and with that he what else do I want.. There was no professional conversation with this non tattooing person which he said he was Im guessing he was a body piercing person. I have spoken with a few people and they said the same thing about this place. I told him thank you for your time and I would not be going there because of the way he spoke. You only have ONE CHANCE TO MAKE A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION.. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. IM SURE thers good people there but not the person I talked to...

I honestly have to say my boy OMAR(yurnewboy)@ for instagram is honestly amazing. not only did he give me a above quality tat he was just awesome and amazing to speak to the whole time thru the tat. he made sure i liked everything and even went above and beyond to tell me what he thinks would make it better. i honestly can say my experience with him is 20/10 hes that good. give this man a raise. Prompt. Friendly. Informative. Professional. Pricy but done right & by a reliable, helpful profesional. Went in for a industrial piercing. Guy (I never got his name, or forgot it) was really friendly and obviously knew what he was doing. He actually recommended that I not get the industrial because he didnt think it would heal right on my ear. In the end he said that if he didnt like it after, I could just keep them as two separate piercings. He was very considerate about how to do what was best for my health as in how it would heal, affect my ear, etc. He clearly told me how to care for it and it looks awesome. I am so glad I went here because I know it was done well & he told me that if I ended up not liking it I could always go back and get it re-pierced. The place was clean, the guy was awesome & I am confident that I could call in at any time to get help. Definitely would recommend the place. Im really glad I went.

Theyve been in business for as long as I can remember. The shop is well kept and clean. There is plenty of artwork to keep your attention. As a matter of fact the County Health Inspector visited while I was there and they received a good review from them.

Absolutely amazing experience. My friends, family and I only go to Thomas for all our piercings, some even come from Orlando.

Never get a chance to even get in because the piercer is never there. Tried 2 different times and the piercer was either sick or left early. If you’re looking to get a piercing don’t even bother coming here because 9 times out of 10 they probably won’t even be in the building!

If I could give 0 stars I would. This place posted a deal on IG. Told us to spread it around like wildfire. They got overwhelmed and put a limit LAST MINUTE of 100 people. I purposely got off work early to be here and they had people who came early and made appointments AFTER they clearly stated NO APPOINTMENTS. If it were for that then I should have been able to make an appointment. Smh this was bad advertising and I just want people to know that they didn’t even think this through and they don’t plan to stay past 9 smh. Why would you do this and then not commit to how much people were coming. Y’all should have been more organized. Smh. Why would you think this wouldn’t blow up. I came from Oviedo ! But whatever. I literally offered them more money and I was right there with the cash. It’s just super disappointing and bad business.

The piercer was not in when I came in to inquire about getting snake bites. (And another ear piercing).. The person who was at the front had told somebody else what they wanted was something they wouldnt do, and something you really dont want to get done. Odd. When he finally talked to me and my friend, she asked if they used the clamp.. immediately said yes. She didnt want me to use the clamp method, and said its better without.. the guy got really short with us, telling us that he strongly disagreed and theres no way he wouldnt use a clamp.. besides the guy wasnt in anyway.. then brushed us off because the piercer was on vacation.Didnt get anything done, didnt get prices, didnt meet the piercer.

I called earlier today and made an appointmentfor a piercing. I went to the appointment and was informed that their piercing person had left early. I was not notified or apologized to. I am super upset as this was my birthday present to myself. I will not be going back

It was Friday the 13th and I had gone to a different tattoo shop for the tattoo special they had going that day, I also wanted to get my right ear pierced, but they dont do piercings, so I came here to this tattoo shop to have it done. My left ear was pierced years ago, when everyone was making a big deal that if you are striaght it is the left ear only that you got done, but now no one cares.

I went here to get piercings, and they were so nice and patient with me and the atmosphere was really cool and they seemed very professional and they seemed like they know what they were doing. I would definitely recommend this place to others

I went in to get some body jewelry and I guess their piercer wasn’t in. And I spent 20 minutes waiting on someone to greet me and they never did so I had to FIND and employee only to tell me the piercer wasn’t there. But he could clearly hear me talking about piercings for the whole 20 minutes I waited and NEVER said anything to me.
