Highly recommend Canvas Tatto in Prior Lake for anyone interested in their first tattoo or to add to your collection. The whole staff here are great people to work with. Travis has now completed three on my arms and am extremely happy with the results. So, there were three of us planning to go to Vegas to celebrate my sisters birthday. But, our plan got canceled at the last moment. However, we still wanted to do something exciting that we had planned for the trip. So, we called up some tattoo studios in the city to check if they could take three walk-ins. Luckily, we found Canvas Tattoo and Joseph Andrews was able to tattoo all three of us. Hes highly recommended!! He listened to our ideas and designs, and he was honest about expectations - you can tell he cares about the client and artwork. The birthday girl wanted an anime design, but Joe was honest about not being able to accomplish what she wanted that day. He wanted to customize the tattoo for her and get more familiar with the anime to draw up more concepts. She ended up making an appointment for the following week. He drew up my designs and tweaked them a few times, which was awesome. He really made us all feel comfortable and valued our opinions. By the end of our sessions, the birthday girl really wanted to leave with some ink, and Joe was happy to jump on board with her mushroom idea. He also wanted her to leave happy and not disappointed on top of missing Vegas. Honestly, were all so grateful for the time and care Joe provided, and definitely coming back (this afternoon hah). If I could give more star ratings I would! See you later Joe!

I got my helix done here and Nick did it! He was so amazing, I really don’t do well with needles and he was so kind and patient. He walked me through every step and the whole process. Would highly recommend, didn’t even hurt too bad! Definitely going to be back! (also very clean)

This place never disappoints with piercings. I have 8 piercings now all from this place. Derek the person who does the piercings is amazing and fun to talk to as well. When I got the Monroe piercing he told me what to do so i didnt get any other part of me stabbed or poked. He even marks the place before poking you to make sure you like the placement. I highly recommend this place!

I went to Joe at Canvas tattoo, I was getting two flower tattoos covered up/added too. I ended up getting a half sleeve, and I absolutely love it. I have several tats but this one is by far my favorite and best. Joe free handed everything first and it was amazing. I am so beyond impressed with his work! I will definitely go back for more! Every time i have gone in to get a piercing they are either too busy or dont have one on hand... I understand that the hours are 12-8 and sometimes people cant always be in, but it would be nice if they at least said something on the website. I have gone in multiple times to just be let down. Also, the lady at the front desk was not necessarily the nicest when we had walked in. I had called in advanced and there was no wait time... just to get there and be told it is now an hour wait. Id like to come back and finally get my piercing, but who knows when that will be.

I got two piercings done by derek and he was absolutely phenomenal! I love my piercings and the staff here are the friendliest people I’ve met at a tattoo shop. I love how they take time to make sure you’re laughing and happy and they just go above and beyond especially Derek! Thank you so much Canvas tattoo I will definitely be back:)

Disappointed, called to book an appointment 3 different times here. First time the front desk or lady who answered the phone booked it and then never actually booked it. Second time I called before driving in the same lady, told me they are fine with walk ins for piercings and that we could get in today, so we drove in just to be told nvm the piercer is leaving early, so that was super frustrating and I understand things happen so she told us to come back tomorrow. Called again the next day to make sure this time she said no piercings as they’re out due to being sick, I reminded her that I was a little upset that I had called the day before and she told me to come on in just to tell me nvm not today once we got there and she didn’t seem to care. No apologies nothing.Heard great things from people but unfortunately it was very unorganized when trying to get in for a piercing.

We have been lucky enough to have Travis Beckjorden from Canvas Tattoo design some amazing art work for our family . The only tattoo place Ive went to since moving here. Clean sanitary. Employee are very informative & creative. My daughter had her ears and nose pierced and was very comfortable. Make sure you have Ids needed for services. Went back to have more piercings. Derek is just so awesome, hes done multiple piercings for my daughter and I would highly recommend him.

Canvas Prior Lake is a great shop. The artists are all welcoming, very talented, and collaborative. They do a great job scheduling appointments and operating their business. Love the vibe in the shop.

Derek pierced both of my ears today. He was awesome. He could tell I was anxious and was super great at distracting me. These were second piercings on each lobe for me but I hadn’t had the first set done since I was 11. I’m very happy with how the new second set looks and very pleased with the service and establishment. Thank you Derek and Canvas!

Erin did an excellent job! She took an old, blurry tattoo that was unrecognizable to a distinct tattoo that people compliment now.she revamped something that I thought was going to be hopeless into new fresh art. Thanks Erin, I will be back

I got my rook done here in August. I brought my mom who was nervous about the piercing, the piercer was very professional and understanding, he answered all of her questions. The piercer talked my mom and I through the process of piercing my rook and the healing process. I have had an amazing healing process with no complications. I really loved everything about my experience here and when it’s time for another piercing I will be going back to them! The photo I added of the piercing is from immediately after getting pierced.

I did consent for my daughter to get her first piercing by Derek ? And since then she had a couple more to follow and wont trust anyone else.. hes always done a great job!

Absolutely amazing service from Erin she went above and beyond to make my 23 year old son with special needs feel safe and she was so wonderful letting him know what was happening and what to expect! Anytime he asked to take a break she had no problem stopping letting him get up and move around. As a mom who knows how hard some things are for my son i was absolutely blown away by her AMAZING customer service!! Her art work means so much to her and it shows!!! 100% recommend!!!!

Joe is spot on super talented! He is by far who I highly recommend you see! He did my tattoo off the drawing I brought in and my husbands tattoo he free hand fixed and added to. This place is awesome! Derek has done 6/7 of my piercings and has never disappointed. Extremely friendly staff, always receive professional care and great customer service, prices can’t be beat. My sister and I got our lips pierced. Her boyfriend got his septum pierced. She also got a rook Piercing and I got my industrial. It was a fun experience. The new place is well decorated and clean. Good vibe!

I just want to give a shoutout to Joe Andrew’s who I know to be a passionate and talented artist. If you are looking for an exceptional artist book with Joe. He’s also someone who works incredibly hard and has the best energy. You’ll laugh and smile and you will connect in a way that is meaningful.

Called three separate times planning to bring my (minor) daughter in to get her ears pierced because I thought it would have been better than the typical “Claire’s” experience. When we walked in, I was asked for my ID ( I expected this) and her picture ID and birth certificate (had no idea this was required). I wasn’t aware that it was required for tattoo shops in order to do a piercing for a minor as I had not been to one before. I stated it would have been helpful for them to ask me this on the phone when I had called and their response was “how could they know if I was bringing in a minor”.. and that “it was the law in MN”… I was not asking for them to break the law and even said I get I could have asked more questions and accepted some responsibility. But also that it would be helpful for them to bring it up when someone calls. Their reaction was to literally just ignore me. Turn away from me and just stop talking. So we went to Claire’s instead…. Disappointed mostly in their response to me asking for them to simply acknowledge that it would have been helpful to ask. Ruined my first impression of their shop and staff.

12/10 recommend! JJ and his team are all fantastic artists. The shop is absolutely beautiful. This is the place you need to go for all of your tattoo and piercing needs!

My brother and I went in for piercings, everything was explained very well before my brother got his dermal (his looks great) and we were made to feel so comfortable. It was a great atmosphere the only thing that upset me is the vertical labret I got being off centered on the bottom of my lip. :( After it was pierced and I was cleaning it at home I notified the dot of the stencil where it should’ve been pierced. the piercing itself for me is just a little disappointing.Update 7/2023- After 2 months it’s definitely crooked 😭

First time at this shop, I was interested in getting a Medusa piercing. After searching for a shop that does piercing work, I read the reviews, and decided to come here. I took my sister for her 18th birthday to get a piercing. Everyone that works there made it a fun and very enjoyable experience. My sister didnt even get a chance to be nervous because of all the joking and lighting. I have had piercings here myself plus tattoos and I always leave happy.

Derek is a piercer hereand is absolutely amazing. He is very nice to people who are scared of needles and he is very understanding. He is also very passionate about the location of the piercing and making sure that its even, precise, and symmetrical. He was very aware of his hands and gloves being clean, and most importantly take your concerns seriously. He is very sweet, very professional, and very careful. If you need any piercing done I highly suggest here with Derek.

Got my first earlobe piercings done here. They made sure to sanitize everything and used needles instead of a piercing gun. Made the whole process great! 4 weeks out and no problems!

My first experience at this shop, I got My nose pierced. I warned Derek I may pass out like I did With my lip at a different shop. He was so understanding and told me to relax and take my time. I went on to get at least ten more piercings here without any issues. Dereks knowledgeable, funny and all around amazing. I’ve also gotten four tattoos at this shop, JJ does phenomenal work and he’s so chill and easy to talk to. Jessica Madison is BRILLIANT. I had been searching for her style for over a year! She ABSOLUTELY NAILED my sleeve while working around and incorporating tattoos I already had. She’s fast, she’s adorable, she listens while giving her professional opinion and experience for your best results. I go to Will Richards specifically for mine but I have friends that go to other artist and they all turn out great!Really fun experience and always a good time seeing everyone at the shop!You do have to get a consultation before getting the physical tattoo but good things come in time and I see people complain about that but if you want a sub par tattoo go to a sub par tattoo shop. These artists get along and have fun doing what they do AND they are good at it. Im in the middle of working on a piece with Jessica and she has been amazing throughout the whole process. JJ is phenomenal in every way. He has patience, a kind demeanor and always makes you feel welcomed and comfortable. He did a custom piece for me on my sternum/under bust and Im absolutely in love with it. He listened and was able to create something so brilliantly stunning. You can feel the love in this shop, the artists communicate with each other and include the clients. The receptionist is bubbly and so incredibly sweet. Im more than happy to travel several hours to go see any artist in the canvas shops because I know how meticulous they are, caring and genuinely good human beings. This shop was recommended by a friend. I called in and the young woman answering the phone was knowledgeable and helped set me up with a tattoo artist, Amanda. I was able to get in contact with her and set up a time within a few days. When I showed up they were prompt to get me set up, her paperwork done and had a ton of safety measures in place. Amanda worked with me and made all the changes I wanted, gave her input and answered all of my questions. She was super sweet and accommodating. The shop was clean, tidy and had a great vibe to it. If I ever get another tattoo. I will be back! Highly recommend.

I have gone here for a couple of sessions now & I will 110% come back every time! The staff are so awesome, creative, and PROFESSIONAL at what they do. Its nice going into a tattoo parlor knowing that these individuals KNOW what they are doing. Tattoos are a big deal--- these are going to be on you for the rest of your life, so I always make sure to review the environments before I go there and get to know the people before I make my final decision. Extremely clean, sterile, and stunning artwork on all of the walls. There were parts of my sleeve that I didnt really know how to fill in or what to necessarily put there--however, the artist worked with me and she did such an incredible job interpreting classics into my artwork. I love my piece that was done there and am finishing my other tattoos at this location FOR SURE.

This is hands down the best Tattoo Studio I have ever been to. The environment is so warm and friendly and all the employees are great. They are so helpful and I love the honesty I get from them regarding my ideas for tattoos. They wont do anything that they think wouldnt look right and they help your ideas come to life in unique ways. The quality of the work is always top notch. They havent ever let me down and I wouldnt go anywhere else. I trust them all and know that they will always do something beautiful.

Super nice people. But failed at my piercings. I spend over $600 and got three new pieces and a piercing. The guy did not put them in correctly and the Bat was put in a gauged ear lobe….fell out within 24 hrs. No customer service or anything to help assist just that I can come back in and pay for a piercing. I mentioned to the dummy on the phone that I wouldn’t be paying for piercing as it does not need to repierced, just need you to properly use the right tools/equipment so that when it’s obviously loose you actually make an effort for the jewelry to stay in. Highly disappointed, and discourage to ever return. ✌️

Highly recommend this place. Everyone is very friendly, great atmosphere. I always feel comfortable and welcome, and I have spent hours upon hours there getting amazing custom work done. All the artists there are beyond talented. I have had many wonderful experiences with Jessica , she is so great to work with, we have created masterpieces together and have more scheduled for the future!

I drove a little further to get my ear piercing done here based on the reviews, even though there were plenty of places closer to me I could have gone to, and Im very glad I did. Derek did an expert job, and made me feel comfortable the whole time. The whole process was quick, clean, and friendly.

I went in today to get the right side of nose pierced after 2 other piercers had messed it up. I had some scar tissue and Derrick let me know that it would be a little on the painful side. Yet he made the whole process fun, and comfortable. Definitely would come back for other piercings and maybe even tattoos !! Also the receptionist was such a lovely nice lady and others who worked their also seemed very friendly!!

Canvas is my go-to spot for my custom work! I mostly work with Jessica but have gotten to know all of the artists over the years and would trust them all with anything I want done! This place is clean and comfortable. Which is good because I end up spending 5-7 hours at a time there! The artists are super friendly and easy to work with and the front desk staff are so welcoming!

I have have visited a few times for a conch piercing I had done in Florida that kept giving me issues. My doctor finally had me remove the jewelry - suggesting I get the area repierced once it fully healed. I visited Derek at Canvas Tattoo & Piercing in Prior Lake again for a straight bar conch piercing, instead of starting with a hoop (don’t be like me and make that mistake). Derek is a good listener, asks the right questions, and takes his time. I will be a return customer. Thanks again, Derek!

Took my 10 year old daughter in to get her ears pierced. Wonderful experience! Derek did an awesome job, especially when my girl began to shake and freak out a bit. I spent 20 years deciding just what tattoo I wanted and this weekend, on my 39th birthday, I got up the courage. After reviewing the positive reviews, I went into Canvas Tattoo and met the kindest receptionist and one of the tattoo artists, Jessica. Jessica explained that they were booked the following day but she kindly took me as a walk in. Even though it was a spur of the moment thing, she understood how important the tattoo was, and how long it took me to pick just the right thing. It took 5 or so stencils to get it just right, as we had to work around some challenges with the design I picked and the location of it. I was so grateful that Jessica took her time to make sure it was just right. It could have been a disaster if she wasnt so diligent. I have proudly shown my tattoo to my family and friends and have received many compliments and requests for the artist. I couldnt be happier and will gladly refer others. Thank you Jessica for taking your time and for understanding how important the meaning was to me.

I went during this COVID outbreak and I really appreciate what they were doing to keep me and themselves safe. This receptionist there was super and friendly and loved her sweet personality. But when I went to get my double pierced he didnt even give me a choice of my studs. Im not sensitive to any metals but he didnt even try to ask about that. I also have heard that when you get pierced your earrings should have some wiggle space for swelling and just to heal better. Overall they were super nice but the piercing felt like I was at Claires but the only difference was I got pierced with a needle.

Went to get my ears pierced fornite first time, and had a great experience! Everyone was very welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere was nice and chill. Derek was fun and easy to talk to, although I was really nervous, I had a pleasant experience. Shout out to my friend Tyler who recommended this studio! 10/10 would reccomend :)

Best shop in the south metro.Ive worked with Jess, Derek, and JJ, and I can honestly say Ive loved working with all of them. You can tell the owner cares about their staff, as I have not once received bad service or an attitude from the artists or receptionists (which cannot be said for other tattoo shops in the south metro). I recommend this shop to everyone I know who is looking for some new art or piercings.

We brought my daughter in to have earrings removed that were stuck. Derek Winski was amazing! He was funny and calming and made a bit of an apprehensive situation much less stressful. Hate to give my home town shop a negative review. But between the experience, the way my tattoo came out and how it was handled was very unprofessional. Id take a photo of the work but pretty embarrassed of how it looks unfortunately permanent until I cover it up. When I discussed this with the owner and asked if they can touch it up and make the lines not look crooked. I asked if by chance I can have another artist do the work since I wasnt pleased with her work. He said he would look into it lol Im guessing he didnt look far because that was the beginning of April. If you look on my profile the only other bad review I have given was to Larrys marine services. But I even touched base 2 months later and no response so I think this review is kinda deserved. It was through Facebook so you seen that he opened the message up lol... I definitely would not recommend any of my friends to go through the process I have received. Their are a ton of shops that care about their clients this is not one of them!

I have been getting work done here for over a year now and the staff is great! Free consultation is a huge plus. Ive gone in with nothing more than a concept and some reference photos and they were able to create something beyond what I expected. The shop is always clean and they will answer any aftercare questions you may have. Ive recommended them to friends and family who keep coming back for more work as well!

I have been to this shop a small handful of times and each time has been an amazing experience. Most recently, I had my most recent pieces done by the highly skilled Jessica. She helped me transfer my ideas from concept to reality and they turned out better than I could have imagined. Everything I wanted came out in stunning detail and I was equally pleased about the ideas that she came up with outside of what I had described. Jessica is such a good artist that I am always thinking of new ideas so that she can flex her artistic muscles, so to speak. Needless to say, I wiill definitely be returning to this shop.

The only shop I will ever go to. The staff are so warm and caring. You really build a relationship with everyone who works there. It definitely doesn’t hurt that the artists are phenomenal as well. The owner, JJ, is also my artist and I still cannot believe the amazing work he does everyday. The shop is clean and aesthetically pleasing, and I enjoy every appointment from the moment I step walk through the doors.

Recently took my wife to the Canvas for her first tattoo. service was head and shoulders above the other 2 better known studios I contacted in the burnsville area. Angela was very awesome about answering our stupid questions and Garth did a fantastic job on her tattoo. highly recommend to any first-timers or to anyone who appreciates good service.

I just went and got my Daith piercing on both ears by Derek. He made me feel very comfortable and explained the whole process as he was doing it. I would definitely come back here and recommend this place to anyone.

Completely unprofessional. I went with my friend to get her tattoo here and the artist was completely rude when my friend didn’t like the tattoo she had drawn up. Appointments booked a month out and there was no possibility of seeing the design before the day of. Told us to come back an hour later and still the design was not exactly what she wanted. She argued with my friend and told her her ideas didn’t make sense rather than focusing on what my friend wanted on her body permanently. Completely awful experience here. Their system of design leaves no room for reconfiguration.

The whole experience was amazing! The shop was clean and had a comfortable environment. The receptionist was super bubbly and helpful, made sure to make me feel welcomed. The artists were all talentedand personable, gave me great feedback, and just really took the time for me. Was a fantastic experience and will definitely be back again!!!

Overall, good work, but I thought the tattoo I was going to get would look a little more like another tat they showed me. It still turned out nice, but not what I expected completely. Also, my wife got her tat and piercing done here at the same time. Her piercing became massively infected and we had to take her in to get her ear drained and the earing cut off There is always risk when you poke holes in your body, so I cant blame them necessarily.

All around very unprofessional. I booked my appointment for the soonest spot, five weeks out. The artist would not allow me to come in for a consultation to see her drawing of my tattoo as she was “too busy for consultation appointments” and then told me she would spend the 48 hours before my appointment to start working on my tattoo drawing. However I emailed her the night before my tattoo was scheduled asking about seeing my tattoo and she didn’t respond until the next morning saying she doesn’t work mondays and sundays, the two days before my appointment. Then told me if I had any changes I wanted to make to the drawing that she would do them on the spot during my appointment. Got there for my appointment, saw my tattoo drawing for the first time and it was absolutely nothing like what I wanted. Instead of changing it on the spot like promised the artist wanted me to book another appointment for another four weeks out and pay another deposit for her new drawing. She was also very rude and would argue with me about what I wanted in my tattoo that was going to be on my body for forever. Needless to say not going back. Lost $100 on a drawing I didn’t like and an awful experience. Going to a different shop.

Canvas is simply an amazing shop. Jessica was so creative and detailed with my tattoo. She is a true artist and a true perfectionist! The atmosphere in the shop is laid back and comfortable. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone.

I came in to get my helix as my 17th birthday present, and they did a very great job. Brought my parents with, and they greeted us right away. Went in there without a reservation, chose what I wanted, and went in right away. Quick and easy. The service was great too!

Horrible experience at Canvas with Will and staff. Upon coming in for my consultation I had a very strange feeling. Receptionist was rude! I explained what I wanted and where I wanted it which seemed to go o.k. They happily accepted by down payment then Covid-19 hits and their business is forced to shut down. Knowing this may take months to return to business and in many cases some businesses didnt return I asked for a refund. They informed me they dont do refunds. I asked when they will be reaching out to reschedule and was told to contact the artist. keep in mind they never reached out to me during any of this to address their policies or how they would be handling. Canvas has now been open under phase 2 for a week. I reach out to them they inform me to contact their artist again. He informs me that he wont be returning to work due to the cover epidemic but gives me a time to stop by and gather my refund. Upon entering their building today during my scheduled time the artist appears and begins to yell at me(I lose it and invite him outside to speak). He asks me am I threatening him, I tell him no I am here for my refund. He continues with his yelling as if I should feel sorry for him. I dont, many of us have lost jobs and I need my money back to live. I dont give loans to businesses, If they wont do the work they owe me my refund back. Terrible experience here with Will! I do NOT reccomend going to this studio as it is very apparent it is just a money grab with zero concern for their customers. Try another studio as these people are horrible business owners and management! I checked my account tonight to see if my refund came in and I dont see it.... Ugghhh!

Had ear piercing. Healed awesome. Love the jewelery as its gold and very high end piece. You can browse the vendor they use and they will order and put in when ot arrives. Shop is very clean. They use gloves. Opened sterile supplies and Im a nurse so i look at everything! Going back for another one soon!

I got my nose pierced here and no one asked me about any allergies I may have, I did not pick out my nose ring, they gave me no information on the ring they were piercing me with, and I was not given any instructions on aftercare. I ended up going to a different tattoo and piercing shop to get more information and cleaning supplies for after care. I would NOT go here again to get a piercing.

I rescheduled an appointment which had to be 3 more weeks out, and an hour before my appointment they cancelled again. Im very irritated that you cannot depend on them. Will not be making another appointment.

Put a 50 dollar deposit down me and the artist spoke about what I wanted to do later that day, the artist wouldnt do it which I accepted and understand. What I didnt understand was why I didnt get my 50 dollars back because the artist didnt draw anything up and the appointment was a month out.
