I spent a while looking for my first tattoo artist - I mean, if something was going to be on my body forever, I wanted to find the right fit. I first met Amanda about 5 years ago, wandering into the tattoo world as a complete newbie. From the jump, she has always been clear and open about her pricing and hourly rate. A great conversationalist, she made the time in the chair fly by. She was incredibly patient with me as I pestered her with questions and concerns about how to take care of my new tattoo and kept her line of communication open.For the above reasons, its also why I recently went back to get another piece of artwork done by her. I cannot recommend Amanda enough in her own studio. Its clean and private with no other distractions. Just the gentle sound of the needle.

My tarot reading with Amanda was life-changing to say the least! Throughout the entire process, Amanda held such a sacred space - I felt truly grounded, safe, and connected to my own inner wisdom. The cards that were pulled and the way they were reflected to me were like looking in a mirror. The messages that came through were unbelievably aligned with my own inklings about what lessons I was moving through and where I was going. Amanda is a true wise woman, I feel so deeply grateful to have received her intuitive gifts and I cant wait for our next session!

I got a tattoo by Amanda about a year ago and to date I can say it’s the best experience I’ve had with an artist. Her studio is absolutely gorgeous and has a wonderfully peaceful energy to it. Amanda herself is an amazing artist and I can’t recommend her enough. From start to finish I could tell she genuinely cares about me and the art she created on me. She was so passionate about her art and worked with me to create the perfect piece. I traveled about three hours to see her and I would absolutely do it again. Her sweet dog Sky was there every step of the way and I loved playing with her during my breaks! My picture doesn’t do her art justice. This is still my favorite tattoo and she was able to incorporate different symbols and influences that I told her I was inspired by. Amazing experience, amazing artist. Thank you Amanda!

When I wanted to get my first big tattoo several years ago, I searched for years until I found Amanda. I absolutely fell in love with her style and her artistry. I had this big idea in my head and she was able to take all my ideas and make it into something truly special. I legitimately cried the first time I saw the design. Then, we spent almost a year together because it was such a large piece and I can honestly say she is a beautiful soul and I couldn’t imagine spending so much time with anyone else. I cannot wear shorts without getting a compliment on my leg, even years later.... After my leg tattoo, I had another tattoo idea in mind and knew it couldn’t be done by anyone else except her. I traveled five hours out of my way just for her since I had moved after my first tattoo was done. And that tattoo is just as beautiful and meaningful as the first. I highly recommend Amanda!!

Amanda created and tattooed two amazing works of art on my left arm completing an upper arm ocean themed sleeve. For the first piece, we met in person and went over placement on the arm, connecting to the tattoo that was there, and discussed my likes and dislikes. About a week before the appointment we Face-timed so she could show me her idea. I fell in love. I am not an artist, and it amazes me that she could take my ideas and create something so beautiful. I made three, 3-hour trips to San Pedro to complete the piece because there was so much detail. Amanda is an amazing artist and a compassionate individual. She ensured I was happy with the placement, and gave me as many breaks as needed for food, water, and potty breaks. After each session, I couldnt wait for the next!I loved the finished product so much, I had to complete the half-sleeve! I scheduled a face-tme chat to talk to her about my final piece and sent her a bunch of ideas. We scheduled three more appointments and I eagerly anticipated the reveal. I was blown away that she could take a few random pictures and create something that was completely hers and mine, This final piece was really fun, because I trusted Amanda completely, and trusted her process. I cannot begin to explain the flow of this final piece, how she brought it all together, visit by visit, conversation by conversation.I get compliments all of the time on my sleeve; and people are always amazed that I made so many long trips for a tattoo when there are so many artists around the corner. It was worth every long car ride to have such a loving, kind soul share her art and self with me. I have other smaller tattoos done by different artists, and I can honestly say that Amanda is the most hygienic, professional, light handed tattoo artist Ive been to.

I was searching for someone who aligned with my energy, and I can’t say enough about how powerful the experience was. This of course is in addition to the stunning artwork that was created! Absolutely profound. Thank you Amanda for your gifts!!

Amanda is the best! Shes an amazing tattoo artist, her designs are gorgeous and intricately detailed, and shes really good at making you feel comfortable and relaxed in the chair.Amanda gave me my very first tattoo many years ago at another studio, and I returned to her again for my half sleeve in 2018 (see photos).For my sleeve, I had a clear vision of the design and gave Amanda a lot of reference images to work with. She incorporated everything into beautiful original artwork, and had no problem making changes at my request.Over several sessions, Amanda brought my sleeve to life and kept my mind off the pain by chatting with me or playing music/videos. She also stopped to check in regularly and see if I needed a break.Amanda is also very good at explaining aftercare and tips to keep your tattoo looking amazing as it heals. (When I came back for touchups, it was a very short session because I barely needed any!)Ive been tattooed by other artists, but the ones done by Amanda always get the most compliments. Her line work and color really pop. Once Im ready for my next tattoo, I will definitely go back to Amanda!

I love Ace of Wands Tattoos! Amanda is an incredibly knowledgeable professional and a talented artist. I had my very first tattoo done by Amanda and it was the best first tattoo experience I could have possibly asked for. Normally when I would explain my tattoo people would question my choice of size and placement and tried to encourage me to get something else, but Amanda never questioned the vision that I had. When I explained my idea to her I could tell she was on exactly the same page I was with how I wanted the tattoo to look and where my inspiration came from. She made me feel reassured about my decision by taking me seriously and explaining every step of the process. During the tattooing, Amanda worked efficiently and hardly took a break, I was so impressed and relieved that is was done so quickly but never felt rushed. The tattoo turned out so beautifully that when I showed it to my parents, who were against tattoos, they both set up an appointment to get a tattoo with her. She was able to help them both out and work with them even though they mostly speak Spanish. They were really impressed with her patience and ability work around the language barrier with them. Overall 20/10 will always recommend! And will be getting more tattoos here!

I have to date had the pleasure of getting six tattoos from Amanda. I took my time looking for an artist that I felt could do work on tattoos with real spiritual meaning for me. I was lucky enough to have Amanda not only tattoo me but, also tattoo a friend, and family member. All three of us have loved the work that Amanda has done. I was first tattooed by Amanda on March 2, 2020 which was actually my birthday! I had been following her on instagram for over a year before I was able to book with her because I live in Seattle and the timing worked out perfectly to get tattooed while I was visiting the LA area. Because of the placement and detail of the tattoo, as well as working around some of my moles, placing the stencil took a while and Amanda was patient and accommodating to my preferences and I think we were able to get it in the perfect spot. During my long session, Amanda was very conversational and made me feel right at home in her private studio and the time seemed to fly by relatively painlessly. We did not finish my tattoo during the first appointment, but even without some of the shading and other details it turned out beautiful and no one ever noticed that it was unfinished. I was able to catch Amanda for my second appointment on Jan. 1st, 2021 and we completed the piece with additional shading, added some white, a cobra and some other details. The additional session completely transformed the tattoo in terms of depth, overall boldness and really meshed with the more bold/traditional style of the majority of my other tattoos. I am so grateful for Amandas dedication, flexibility, artistry and curiosity. She is an amazing artist with a huge heart and I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for tattoo in her preferred styles. Thank you Amanda!

Finding someone who could take my ideas and edit them down into an amazing piece of art and was just as excited about it as me led me to Ace of Wands. At our video consultation I was 100% sure she was the right person for me, even being out of state. Seeing the preview I was stunned, better than I could have imagined! The studio is cozy and pretty, Amanda spent time perfecting the placement. This is definitely not the last time Ill be traveling to see her!

I got my first large tattoo from Amanda and was absolutely thrilled both with her work and with the overall experience. I went to the first consultation with images for inspiration, and Amanda did a great job of being receptive to my ideas, working to understand the meaning behind it, and provided a very comforting atmosphere.She gave me all of the details I needed about the tattoo process, what to expect and timing. I got it done in two sessions and working with her was an absolute joy 1) because she is super light-handed and it did not hurt at all (even though it was on my ribcage!) 2) she is a wonderful person to talk to and connect with. She also really helped me understand the healing process and the best products to use, so healing was a cinch!Highly recommend! I would definitely go to her again and am so happy with my tattoo.

I have been getting tattooed by Amanda for the past 4 years. The relationship between tattoo artist and client is a special one. Prior to Amanda, I was tattooed by another artist for 6 years until his untimely and unfortunate death. Since our first meeting, I have absolutely loved Amanda. She is a brilliant artist, intricately detailed, and was able to transform my stories, experiences, and ideas into beautiful art. She is a skilled tattooer with a critical eye, delicate hand, and masterful touch. Aside from her credentials as a master tattoo artist, and most important, is the fact that she is a kind, empathetic, and attuned. She is whip smart, able to engage in riveting conversation, and seriously funny. She is professional, timely, clean, and thorough. She will not tattoo you unless you are completely ready and satisfied with the process leading up to the ink. I have spent probably close to a hundred hours in her chair and I have gotten to know her, as she has gotten to know me, very well. I WILL NOT get tattooed by any other artist other than Amanda. I followed her from Evermore Tattoo in Culver City down to her private studio in San Pedro. I have zero reservations about giving Amanda and Ace of Wands Tattoo my highest recommendations and complete support.

I loved my experience with Amanda! She added to/expanded on a tattoo I got by a different artist that I never liked that much, which not all artists are willing to do. She immediately understood my vision for the changes at the consult, video chatted me to show me the design ahead of my appointment, and was super friendly and put me at ease in her studio. Now I love the tattoo, and I hope I can get another piece by her in the future!

Amanda is priceless.... her art, her personality, her energy, and her professionalism. Her art is authentic, detailed and precise. The environment is very clean as well and physically and emotionally comfortable. I’ve gotten three tattoos done with Amanda. One was a cover up. They all exceeded my expectations. They are gorgeous! Not to mention she is the most gentle tattoo artist out there. It will hurt less and heal faster than most other tattoo artists out there. My boyfriend is covered in tatts and said her work is by far the most gentle and healed the best and fastest of all the work he’s had done in 35 years. There is a reason she has a waiting list. She’s amazing! I highly recommend her.

I have been getting tattooed by Amanda for roughly six years now. I have a shoulder blade piece of my beloved cat and my entire left arm by her, and I cannot praise this artist enough. Her style and workmanship is stunning and I have never felt more heard/seen before. When you spend so many hours with someone, you want to be comfortable in that space and Amanda works tirelessly to make that possible.At the time of one of my appointments, I looked at the drawing and asking about a minor change. She was very polite and made the adjustments in no time (it was adding a handful of dots to a section). We talked about all kinds of things and when I came back for my next appointment, she remembered my stories and asked how my family was doing.I can’t wait to finish my sleeve with her and I’ll be collecting more in the future!

I have been working with Amanda for over 5 years. She has done most of my pieces and I love them all. I always get stopped and asked whos done the work. I love her work and process so much whenever I think of a new piece there is no doubt I go to her. Amanda is a true artist and whenever I talk about her that is what I tell people and that her brush just happens to be a tattoo gun. Every time I have come to her with an idea she responds quickly and then we strategize together. It always feels like a true partnership. She always takes into consideration what my desires for each piece are but once she starts drawing is when the piece truly comes alive. Before our sessions, when she shares what shes drawn I am always blown away by what she has created. Amanda is also so open to changes and suggestions even when I have been hesitant but too nervous to say anything she can tell and encourages honesty. Every time I look at one of her pieces they make me smile. I am beyond grateful that I found her many years ago. I have spent many hours with her at her studio and feel so lucky how our relationship has evolved over the years. I cannot wait for my next piece.

She really was able to bring my idea to life, and I couldt be happier with the outcome.After my first sleeve and asking her to do a cover up..and work within strict guidelines..I promised her that I would come back for another tattoo that would be all her, and allow her to take it where she wanted.Two years later, were about to finish my 2nd sleeve, of which was all her idea..and she went wild!! My new buddha sleeve with a mandala, is like nothing ie ever seen..and beyond anything i could ever ask for!!Beyond the ink, the experience with Amanda is really special. I love this place! I spent years looking for the right tattoo artist. Im vegan and having vegan ink was important to me. Through a series of random events I found Amanda at Ace of Wands Tattoo. Her studio is clean and comfortable, much better atmosphere than a normal tattoo shop. She created an awesome design for my cover up and everyone always comments on how good it is. Ive since had her touch up my other tattoos which look amazing. Ive sent several people to her that have all had great experiences with their tattoos and Amandas professionalism. Im already heading back for my next one!

If youre looking for a creative and professional tattoo artist, Amanda is the woman for you! Shes tattooed me twice - once in her old space in Culver City and once in her own studio in San Pedro. Both times were stellar experiences for me.The first time (shoulder cap) was my first tattoo and she was very clear about how the process would work - what I could expect before, during, and after the session. At the time, I brought my own design, but while I was there, I was so impressed by her portfolio that I knew Id have her design my second one for me.The second tattoo (upper thigh) with Amanda was much more significant. I sent her a variety of inspirational images - including some from her existing portfolio - and color palettes and gave her an idea of what I wanted. We had a design session with her showing me ideas and taking my feedback. It was really clear that she was just as excited as I was and really wanted me to be happy. She appreciates that this is a major investment in so many ways for her clients and strives to make it special.I think I spent a total of 16 hours with her in her studio, which is private, clean, and comfortable. Its a a great reflection of her personality as well, very spiritual and calming. Shes happy to chat or to just let you listen to music, watch videos, whatever you prefer. Shes conscientious about the pain and take breaks whenever you need.If you want your tattoo to be a really special, personal piece of art then you should choose Amanda. I couldnt be happier with our collaborations.

Amanda!!! One of the best/most professional artists I’ve had the pleasure of getting a tattoo from! I’ve never felt more comfortable and “at home” in a shop. The great conversation made the time fly by. Can’t wait for my next one from her!

I had a terrible experience with Amanda. I got tattooed by Amanda on Jan 2, 2021 which I’ve since learned was against covid state regulation. I first consulted with her in Sept 2020. It has honestly taken me this long to write a review because of processing this traumatic experience. I can’t fit all the details so I will try to summarize:-POOR Business practices-SERIOUS Lack of professionalism-Dishonest/ misleading statements-BAD/under communication-cold personality, no customer service-Amanda said I could come in a week in advance of my appointment to see my design in person. However when I tried to schedule this, she WENT BACK on this agreement, instead shortcutting it with a facetime just 3 days before my appt. Because of the sensitive nature of my tattoo- a scar cover up in an unusual placement- I planned for months that I would be able to see it in real size/comparison to my body and have a whole week to think over my design.-On the day of the appt, I was pressed for time, nervous, and overwhelmed as I needed to make changes AND decide then and there on the final design and get it done right after. Amanda did not explain anything, I was shirtless and extremely cold and uncomfortable, and totally in the dark that all changes needed to be done on the computer and was in no part hand drawn. Each change took way longer than I expected, I did not feel like it was collaborative or that I even understood how this computer made design would fit over my scar. *If you want a hand drawn tattoo, do NOT go to Amanda.*When I realized this image would be the actual stencil, I noticed it was not the original vision I told her for how I wanted to cover the scar area. I asked Amanda if it was going to cover my scar and she basically said “yea, it’ll probably be fine. No one is going to notice anyway because the tattoo will look so cool.” It had been almost 2 hours, I had only a few minutes to decide once the stencil was actually on my body, and ultimately I made the huge mistake to trust her.-Amanda charges $160/hour. For a relatively simple, medium sized design, I was totally shocked when my total came out to $800 (?!), which she rounded up, overcharging me about $66. She had given NO prior warning or estimate of this cost!!She said my deposit would apply to the tattoo cost. Instead, when it was time to pay, she kept my deposit (only applying $60 because I asked), and locked me into a second appt. The second appt was for if I needed to come back to do a matching cover up. I felt INCREDIBLY misled and manipulated! (She also charged me $10 for a cream that she didn’t even ask if I wanted to buy!)-Not only was I unhappy with how it looked the next day, but it’s clear after healing that THE TATTOO DIDN’T EVEN COVER THE WHOLE SCAR! I contacted Amanda to ask for the rest of my deposit back ($100) because I wouldnt be returning for the next appt. In short, she yelled and berated me on the phone, talked for 30 min straight and interrupted me repeatedly, told me what I wanted for my own body was bad and wrong, praised her own expertise and experience, and blamed me entirely.-To get my deposit back, I would’ve had to sign the most ridiculous contract I’ve ever seen, basically stating that everything she did and said in the past was right and I was wrong. i.e. her claims that the deposit was non-refundable even though she never had a written agreement on the deposit to begin with, etc. AND that she had returned my deposit before actually returning it! In the end, I turned down this agreement and lost the $100 because it was too stressful to continue dealing with her.This was one of the worst, most unprofessional, regretful experiences I’ve ever had. I lost a total of $970, and have suffered a great deal of mental stress everyday. Do not trust an artist just for their portfolio, Amanda’s website claims she wants to help people feel empowered and more comfortable in their skin, but she did the opposite for me. I will have to spend a lot more money and time to get this fixed, possibly another year and thousands more.

I have 2 tattoos made with Amanda and they are the most beautiful tattoos I have on my body, and I can say that they are tattoos made with Love, Amanda is for me a great tattoo artist and a great personthanks Amanda, see you soon for my next appointment

I had a tattoo I worried might give people who dont know me the wrong impression. It had a funny story, and I never regretted it, but it was time to go. I cannot thank Amanda of Ace of Wands Tattoo enough for her breathtaking cover-up work. When I glance down or catch a glimpse of my reflection in the mirror, I am still awed by the transformation. Amanda didnt just cover an old tattoo - she created something uniquely magical, combining imagery both ancient and modern in a way that resonates with me on a deeply spiritual level.
