Studio Elev8 Tattoo

Cynthia was absolutely amazing. She’s done three of my pieces and one for my daughter. Absolutely beautiful and unique designs based on the info/graphics/design you give her. She has done an absolutely great job. She has a light hand and I fell asleep during my arm tattoo. At this point half my tattoos were done by Cyn. She has a great artistic talent and I’m super comfortable in the shop. All the artists I’ve met there were very nice and extremely talented. Recovery and healing was the easiest I’ve ever had. Pricing is very well worth the talent. Will definitely be coming back for more!

This studio has such great energy. The artists clearly respect each other and learn from one another. Mike is an inspiring artist and leader. They aren’t just tattooing images, they are creating emotional expressions of their customers being!

Had a cover up of an embarrassing tattoo that I carried on my body for 18 years. Mike was WONDERFUL and executed the cover up perfectly. I love my tattoo and the care I felt while Miek made magic happen.

Cynthia was awesome! I wanted a memorial tattoo for my first dog ever, who has literally saved my life. I had already gotten his paw print from a different artist, thinking that was genuinely all I wanted. But I knew immediately I was wrong and it needed more. I also wasn’t 100% happy with how the paw print turned out, so I went looking and found Cynthia.I cannot stress enough how grateful I am to her. I was a complete anxious mess, but she was always calm with me and answered all questions, no matter how small. My dogs name is Ryu, (Japanese for Dragon) so I thought a Japanese styled dragon would be the perfect addition. But I wanted one that looked like Haku from Spirited Away. And lo and behold, she had done a piece of him!So we got to work. She had to figure out how to place the dragon with the existing paw print. She nailed that, and touched up the paw so I was happier with it. I wanted a “Haku” but not exactly, she nailed the alterations I asked for. And she went above and beyond with ideas to make it look more husky like, because my dog was a husky. From the markings on his face to the tuft of white fur on his tail tip.I will cherish this work of art for what it is, but I can also always have my best friend and hero with me for the rest of my life.

I could not possibly be happier with how my tattoo is coming. The overall environment is nothing like I have ever experienced. While Bailey was working on beginning my sleeve, I had the privilege of meeting most of the other artists in the studio. Everyone I met was so kind, happy, and energetic. I can honestly say the worst part of the whole thing was trying to not move. I was laughing and smiling through the entire session. Though Im sure my laughter didnt make it easy on Bailey, she never missed a beat. The work I have had done so far is absolutely flawless. Mike Johnson did an amazing job! I had breast cancer reconstruction, and he did so well with my nipple tattoos, they look like before surgery! Also, he was very professional! Highly recommend him!

Shortly after my son passed I found a studio to tattoo his portrait on my leg I was devastated at the healed result I was embarrassed of it as it did not represent who my son was. I found Mike to redo it and I can not express the emotions he brought back. It’s like he brought my son back to life. The tears of joy is unexplainable and I am forever grateful for Mike and his talent. And the whole experience was priceless

This was only my second tattoo experience and my first in utah. The studio and the people were great and Bailey was amazing. She took the idea that I had and put her artistry to work and gave me something better that what I had envisioned. Best experience Ive ever had being tattooed. The shop is clean, the table and needles are all opened and protected in front of you. Cynthia is an amazing artist. I love her style. She was open to making changes and explaining things without making me feel bad about it.She really worked with my budget. Shes very light handed with very fine delicate lines. Mike is an amazing artist. His studio is clean, comfortable, and professional. The whole process, from initial consultation to finished tattoo, was incredible. I have gotten tattoos before, but never have I gotten such in depth attention to my vision. His process guarantees a unique tattoo, not a copy from some tattoo picture book. The amount of information Mike supplied, both before and after, was of the quality that I had never been given before during my previous tattoo experiences. I live in NY and received my tattoo by Mike while visiting in Utah. If I ever get another tattoo, it will be totally worth the cost of another trip to Utah.

Studio Elev8 is hands down the best tattoo studio in Utah in my opinion. The atmosphere is amazing & all of the artists are so kind & talented. Dave is the absolute BEST and I don’t think I will ever trust someone to work on me the way I trust him. He’s incredibly funny & kind & I always look forward to our appointments. He always makes sure I’m comfortable & works with me on any ideas I have. I can tell that Mike has so much pride in his work because every artist he allows on his team is SO talented & respectful. Sometimes you have to wait awhile for an appointment with the artists here but I’m telling you, it is SO worth the wait!

Tuesday 5/2/23 was my first experience sitting in Studio Elev8. I searched for the best over and over and came up with Mike J and his studio. My consultations with Mike were so amazing! His vision, caring, his professionalism, and his work with cancer victims is awe inspiring. I walked into a full day session nervous. I was promptly met by Mike and we started the process right away. During my stay I encountered many of the studio artists! So unique, each one, but all have this calming friendliness, yet professionalism that just sits right with everyone! I met Herna and Deb first, then Cyn and Cameron. We cut up, we laughed, we jammed to music. People offered coffee etc. There were wonderful teaching moments and sharing of ideas. We had moments where it was just silence and pure concentration! Overall my first experience was a ten. If tattoos are an investment, which trust me they are, this is the top firm that feels like a local chill hangout that you want handling your art investment and will truly enjoy your experience! 10 stars yall!

I got a flash tattoo with a friend in their flash day partnering with Ink Against Cancer. The shop has a welcoming eclectic vibe, is clean, and functions very professionally. Our artist, Deb, was amazing and efficient. Ill definitely be coming back here for my next full size tattoo!

Mike J has been giving me tattoos for nearly 6 years now. My husband and I see Mike exclusively and will not get tattooed by anyone else. His work is beyond words. I have a back piece, multiple side pieces, a collarbone piece and we are now in the process of doing a full leg sleeve. He listens to what I want, but then gives great advise as to what will work well with tattoos. The detail in his work is phenomenal, his ideas are amazing and he is all around a great guy! Highly recommend him and as the owner of Studio Elev8 he has wonderful work ethic and those who tattoo at his studio do also!

I’ve been to Cyn three times, and she is just FANTASTIC. She did my first ever tattoo, and made me feel so comfortable. She made me feel like this every time.This last session was to cover up a poorly done tattoo I got from another artist…which I only went to because they were closer to my home. BIG MISTAKE!!Cyn cleaned it up, brought it to life, and made me fall in love with it.

I went in for my first big piece and Bailey exceeded my expectations! She was receptive of my ideas and helped make my vision even clearer. She was an incredible artist BEFORE she began tattooing, and thats why I trusted her. Im from Ogden and went to see her for two tattoos (3 sessions total) and it was worth the drive every time. She also gave my partner his first tattoo, which was a special experience for sure because she made it so easy and fun. Ill definitely be going back to her. My first session with her was in their old studio and my last session was in the new one, and they were both very impressive. Its full of the artists original pieces, the space is very open, clean, and the aesthetic Mike has created is beautiful. When all of the artists are working, everyone chats and banters and has a great time; makes it fun and relaxing for clients. Bailey can really do it all, but her realism pieces will never disappoint. From beginning to end this was by far an awesome experience! I contacted Mike for tattoos to cover my mastectomy scars and he was professional, understanding, compassionate and really listened to what I wanted. The finished product is amazing and I feel “normal” again with having my tattoos. The rest of the staff was always so nice and helpful when I went in and they all really make you feel welcome. I will definitely be going back for my next tattoo and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to get exactly what they want for a tattoo.

I have been going to Mike and his studio for my tattoos for several months now and as long as he is in business I will never go anywhere else. His studio is immaculate and so is his art. The other artists working there are each excellent in their own rights as well. They can do any style you want and do it well. As Mike likes to say, his specialization is awesome tattoos. The customer service is top notch as well. I always feel like my experience is the studios first priority. I can’t recommend Studio Elev8 highly enough to anyone wondering where to trust their skin to someone’s permanent art.

I had two tattoos done same day by Cynthia and it was a great experience. She listened to what I wanted and created a great piece Im super happy with, the 2nd was kanji which she admitted to not having done but I had hand drawn kanji I wanted her to replicate and she killed it. They are healing nicely and her lines are pro. This is the cleanest tattoo shop Ive probably ever been to and bonus the playlist they had going was on point - heavy metal/thrash. My husband was also impressed with my experience and will be booking an appt at Studio Elev8 for his next piece.

I spent years contemplating my tattoo. I have issues with perfection and giving complete artistic freedom to someone. Looking through thousands of photos and reviews I finally found Mike, and after our first meeting I had complete trust and confidence in him and his skills. The process at this point has been nothing but simple and see less. I filled out my consultation request (super simple on the Studio Elev8 website) and Chase got me in touch with Mike. The moment I walked in it felt as though I was reconnecting with an old friend. Mike took my idea and made it art. I had the plan and images ready to get an Army Diver in a MarkV suit with an aquatic scene covering my left arm. Mike took it further. He asked me details about my life, why I was fascinated with this idea, what this really means, he took time to see that this piece means more than the images, but represents my past and the good from it. He took our conversation and put it in this tattoo creating a story in the ink. Right now we are half way through and I am blow away. I cannot wait to see what he creates. This isn’t just a tattoo as it is living moving art, showing the beauty from darkness. If you have the opportunity to work with an artist at Studio Elev8, don’t hesitate. Very clean and comfortable studio environment. I am a breast cancer survivor and sought out Mike to complete my reconstruction per a recommendation from my plastic surgeon. He was extremely knowledgeable about how to use shading and techniques to create the illusion of tissue on skin that doesnt really exist. Hes a talented artist that has the ability to bring a sense of wholeness back to people who may have lost a piece of themselves. During my consultation I actually decided to plan another piece to commemorate my cancer journey. Cant wait to get started!

Elev8 is amazing! Best experience, hands down. Mike is an incredibly talented artist. What really separates Elev8 from the competition is...well, everything. Mike really takes the time to get to know his clients. Its a true 1-on-1 experience so you never have to worry about having a distracted artist. Studio Elev8 is seriously one of the best shops in Utah! Ive been working with Mike for a couple of years now and he is a very talented artist and I always leave happier than I expected. All of the artists are professional, talented and the over all atmosphere is very open and friendly. After having a single mastectomy I went to Studio Elev8 for a nipple tattoo. Mike Johnson was so professional and kind! I asked for a big flower instead of a nipple. He does beautiful work! I have a beautiful tattoo of a magnolia that covers my scars and I love it! 🌸 Thank you Mike!

Updated 10/14/21I recently lost my mom. I lost my dad almost 7 years ago. I wish they were both around to see the heart that was put into their portrait. EVERYONE that has seen it can’t believe it’s not a picture stuck on me!I have cried numerous times looking at my parents in the mirror. I’m beyond words grateful for the view I have of my parents over my heart. ❤️Mikey J and all the artists are beyond friendly. Studio Elev8 is very welcoming, they all are interested and supportive of each others work, they all come over to look and give praise to you on what you are getting tattooed.If you are looking for your typical tattoo walk in shop, pick something out of a book and get some generic tattoo, this is not your shop! Not that they cant do that work, but these are the best tattoos you will get by the states number one tattoo artist proven by winning multiple awards for over several decades!Mikey J will be the only person to EVER put ink on me!! His techniques are cut above the rest, he attention to detail goes without words, and everyone that sees the work on me always asks who and where!?Do yourself a favor and don’t go anywhere else!! 🙏🏽

I had the most amazing experience!! Mike took so much time with my husband and I. Was incredibly patient and kind!! I had a double mastectomy in August 2017. Mike did dermagraphic reconstruction for me and I have no words for how incredibly happy I am. I have not felt normal since the mastectomy and Mike gave that back to me. He gave me a new sense of normalcy with the reconstruction (3d nipple tattooing). What he did was truly life changing for me after all Ive been through in the last year and half!! Thank you Mike!

All of the artists here are super friendly and professional. I love the private setting so you don’t have people coming in and out all the time. The place is immaculate and they are constantly learning and working on becoming even better artists which is cool because you know they truly care about their craft. The complexity of one of my tattoos and the realism on a portrait that I have on my arm is out of this world. The technique of how he brings everything together seamlessly is near magic. Matt was terrible in every aspect. He canceled last minute the initial appointment that we schedule almost 2 months before because he was going ti be out of town, then reschedule for the following week, the very same day of the appointment he reschedule again 1 hr earlier because he wouldn’t have time to do it at the time he set up. I asked for the picture on the right and what he did is not event close, I’m very disappointed. Everyone tells me that it looks like a tattoo made in jail 😭

They would use the ID we provided , we drove 3 hours away to get a simple tattoo. And they wouldnt return my deposit when they turned us away! Will never ever go here again!
