I visited Nor Cal Tattoo for their Flash Friday Sale, held on the second Friday of each month, where you can choose from a variety of tattoos on the flash board ranging from $100 to $150. Although I initially went in for a piercing, I had such a positive experience that I returned for another visit. The studio is clean with unique lighting and a talented team of artists and piercers available. The staff was friendly and made me feel comfortable throughout the entire process. I ended up getting a beautiful Helix piercing that I absolutely love. I highly recommend Nor Cal Tattoo for anyone looking to get a new tattoo or piercing. Their professionalism and creativity truly stand out in the industry.

Charlie was my artist for my very favourite tattoo, and I feel so fortunate to have found them. We got to do a few sessions on this piece and it was such a great time every time. They continued to check up on me and my tattoo for months after, and Im beyond happy with their work.Everyone is very talented, kind, and welcoming at the shop as well. The vibes were immaculate.

Our first experience here was great, with both of my kids being eased into the process of getting their ears pierced. Unfortunately, their holes closed up after they took out their earrings at the two month mark, and there were some misunderstandings in our efforts to remedy the situation. But the owner promptly connected with me to make things right, showing kindness and professionality.The facility itself is appealing in its clean spaciousness, the atmosphere is mellow, and the business is easy to get to. The prices for piercings were more affordable than the other places I looked into at the beginning of 2024.

Awesome shop and great artists working there. Ive had three tattoos done at NorCal now and a piercing done years ago and Im always happy with their service and friendliness here. Flash fridays got me hooked at first and now its my personal goal to get tattooed by each artist there. The owners are super friendly and its great to see them teaching their art down to their next generation and keeping the family business alive. Highly suggest you get some work done by anyone here. Went in and got my daughters (10) ears pierced and had a spectacular experience! The piercest made her totally comfortable and did a great job! Its healing up great!

I have had my high nostril pierced for over three years, unfortunately it got ripped out while I was sleeping. I went in to have the piercer, Abby, put new jewelry in, she tapered my piercing 7 times, causing more trauma to the already upset piercing. She was unable to put my jewelry back in, which has never happened to me, as I have had my nose jewelry switched out many times. I went back a couple days later when a different piercer was there, and the piercing had closed up, they told me that I would need to pay to get it repierced even though it was there fault that they couldnt put the jewelry in. I also had bought a septum piercing from here for $40 and the gem fell out within a week of having the new jewelry. Extremely disappointed with my experiences here. Would not recommend.

I had a dreamcatcher tattoo that I wanted covered up on my right arm, and needless to say my coverup tattoo done by Ted is 10x worse than my original tattoo. I am a forestry tech and wanted something feminine/floral with ferns to represent my love for nature. I don’t know what I was thinking, I think I was just overly excited when he put the stencil on. I have undergone 3 tattoo removal sessions since getting the tattoo by Ted in August of 2022, and am anticipated to have 6 more tattoo removal sessions done before having my coverup tattoo covered up in 2024 by an amazing artist in San Diego. I wear long sleeve shirts constantly, this tattoo has negatively effected my confidence, I am dreading the summer months because I’ll have to wear short sleeve shirts. I spent $350 on the tattoo done by Ted, am anticipated to spend over $3000 in tattoo removal, and an additional $4000 to get my tattoo covered up in 2024. I am so distraught and heartbroken. This is going to be a very long and expensive journey for me. I have cried hours on hours because of this tattoo. This is by far one of the biggest lessons I have learned in my life so far. Save yourself the time and money and do not get tattooed here.

Dani was really sweet, and very knowledgeable about anatomy/aftercare, etc. I definitely will return for more piercings from her. The girl who checked me in for the piercing was also extremely nice and helpful. Prices are reasonable and include jewelry. Shop is clean and vibes were fun. Recommend for sure!

My daughter and I wanted a couple of piercings. Although we were walk-ins, we were treated professionally and accommodated. I felt at ease with the comfortable vibe of the shop. Dani, who did my piercings, was amazing! She made me feel at ease with her positive attitude. She worked with me to get the right placements and hardware. She explained every step of what she was doing, so no surprises. I had my 4th piercings on each ear and one on my nose. I absolutely love them! I live in Fortuna, but it was absolutely worth the drive to Arcata. We were able to have the mother/daughter experience that we hoped for and even better! Highly recommended!

Alright experience. Super chill environment and nice people, great work as well. Went in for my first tattoo, sat there for 40 minutes before my artist spoke to me and started drawing up. He didn’t ask me exactly where I wanted the placement and just stuck the stencil on without saying anything. Ted was super distracted the entire appointment, I felt like he wasn’t even paying attention to me. Love how it came out, just wish there was more talking beforehand and that he would have checked in with me more

Most overcharged piercings in Humboldt! The audacity to charge me $70 for an earring change...literally crazy. Not even a piercing...AN EARRING CHANGE for $70. I got my ears pierced 3 years ago for $35 (w/ jewelerly). The worst part is the piercer asked them to be put them in (which I assumed was free w/ the purchase of earrings). NOPE, $25 extra charge to put in earrings a task a literal 5 year old could do for $25. I have never written a negative review before, but truthfully I have never felt so scammed by a piercer. Go anywhere else in Humboldt for a reasonably priced piercing.

Nor Cal Tattoo staff are completely accommodating and professional. The atmosphere is relaxed, friendly and upbeat. I enjoyed being in the space with the artists and their clients. Prices are great, too!

Went for Friday the 13th with some friends, every single person we worked with was great! Between two different piercers and three artists everyone was super friendly and created a great experience.

Had a wonderful experience sizing up the gauge of my nostril piercing, i accidentally bought a smaller gauge size than i should have and it shrank , but Dani did a fantastic job! she tapered it and put in the new jewelry in a way that was as swift and painless as possible, fantastic work (ive gauged up my nostril once before and it was so much more painful, didnt know it could be so easy)

This is hands down one of the best tattoo/piercing shops Ive ever been into. Everyone was so nice and welcoming!!! I was only going in there to get a piercing changed and Dani did such an incredible job. She made me feel so fantastic by the time I left, so next I need a piercing or tattoo Im 100% coming here

Getting my septum pierced by Dani was a great experience! She was very friendly and kind and I think she could tell that I was nervous about how it looked because she hyped me up and made me feel really good about myself.The shop is clean and professional. I’ve come into NorCal for multiple different appointments for tattoos and piercings, they’re always a super lovely environment. Very welcoming, happy to help, and such a safe place to be. Never feel weird asking questions, or for help as their whole shop is so lovely and kind. Jeremy is one of my favorite tattoo artists there (though they all have amazing talent!) and Dani is my piercer. Though I’ve had awesome experiences with Michael and Amy as well.If you’re considering going to NorCal do it! They’ll fix you right up and help you feel great about your new tattoo/piercing/any other services you get!

EDITED**** not happy at all!!! Both mine and my daughters nose rings became infected and we had to take them out! Called numerous times, left messages and not one call back! Never coming here again. Bad service!!My daughter and I wanted to get our nose pierced, we came and saw Dani.....She was so awesome! Super sweet, and very professional. Thanks for the great experience!

Walked in on Friday the 13th wanting a collectors piece and left with an awesome Jason mask. Friendly and fun crew, I cant wait until Im in Arcata again..!

Dani was super sweet but is extremely uninformed about proper piercing techniques and aftercare. She insisted I get a hoop even though that’s not the proper jewelry to get pierced with and when I had to get it switched to a stud she gauged it up and used material that is not great for healing. When I had been here years prior I had my ears pierced with a butterfly back which is the incorrect thing for that too. She also insisted that I clean my nose with antibacterial soap which is so incorrect. Please go to Primal Decor in Eureka if you wish to get an piercings done.

1st professional tattoo of what i hope to be many. The staff are warm friendly and super funny. We went with a concept and the artist worked with us to maximize the experience. Michael did quick clean work and was conscious of tender spots without being bothered, im looking forward to more from them

Decided to go here based off reviews but their customer service is absolutely horrendous. It was impossible to get a hold of someone and when I finally did they told me piercings are a walk in. I made sure to ask when a piercer would be in since I get off work at 5 and they assured me one will be there. Well I drove to Arcata and at first no one was even at the shop. Then one by one workers started to show up with food. One of them told me there are no piercers there at the moment even though I got off the phone with him an hour ago before making sure.....as I was about to leave the piercer arrived and when the guy asked her if she has time she rudely replied not today and kept walking. No apologies or even an attempt to look me in the face/speak with me as I was standing right there.I decided to still give them one more chance and just call next time right before I leave. Well they didnt answer, then texted me the next day that they missed my call and what I wanted. When I told them what I wanted, which was just two lobe piercings, super simple I never heard from them again.Clearly they value their OWN time more than they value having customers and a good business standing within their community. Based off some of the other bad reviews Im glad I didnt go there.

When I went to replace my lip ring with a new one from these guys, the chick who put in my new lip piercing gave me the wrong size. It created tons of scar tissue for months before it got super swollen and irritated to the point where I had to almost go to the ER. Thankfully I went to Primal Decor and they were able to remove the infected jewelry that was fusing with the scar tissue it created by being too small, Jennifer was a life saver. Got a sweet custom made lip ring from them too which is better than the selection of cheap junk Nor cal had.

Great work done by James. He did my dads tattoo 7 years ago and I knew I wanted to get my first tattoo done by him. Shop is super clean, neat, and tidy. James live streams his tattoo sessions on twitch super cool to interact with the viewers.

I visited norcal tattoo for the first time for a couple of ear piercings today. Dani helped me out in curating a put together look, was very professional and made it so painless! Will definitely be coming back to norcal tattoo and Dani for more work. Thanks :)

Jeremy and the gang are incredibly kind and patient and try to suit the needs of their tattoo patients with added flair.

The staff here is so nice, so professional and do great work. I was tattooed by Jeremy and he was amazing talent, personality and professionalism-wise. Would highly recommend this shop to anyone.

I was nervous getting my first piercing, but when I walked in and was hyped up and complimented by the piercer Dani, given same day service AND ended up with a clean and beautiful piercing, there is nowhere else in Humboldt i would wanna go other than this shop!!

Least professional tattoo experience you could ask for. I have been blatantly ignored by an artist in this shop for 2 months. This artist was blatantly rude to myself and another of his clients due to his personal feelings. Going out of his way to be very rude to both of us through private messages over things that did not concern him or his job as a tattoo artist. I just cant advocate this tattoo experience due to the massive discomfort this person has put us through.

Went to Alex today to get a tattoo in memory of my grandparents, both my brother and I wanted to get a tattoo and on a Sunday with no appointment. He took care of it, and did a perfect job. Super stoked.

Ted Marks artistry is beyond any stencil. He truly brings your tattoo to life. He has a key eye to detail. He is in the business for the tattooing not for the quick buck.
