I have two pieces from Steve that I absolutely love, and are some of the favorites that I have. Its a nice comfortable shop and his work is top notch. Highly recommend!

I dont really bother with reviews, and this is frustrating to write since Steve is an exceptional artist with some incredible designs. Im not sure if there was perhaps a miscommunication or misinterpretation of my concerns, but I figured I would share for anyone going forward.My first experience at Black Moth was nothing short of amazing, and I could not have been more happier with how it turned out. I was so impressed that I booked a second appointment a little over a year later. At first, everything seemed to go in an orderly fashion.However, after about 10 days, the tattoo started showing signs of infection beyond the typical scabbing and oozing synonymous with tattoo recovery. All recovery procedures on my end were followed, and I understand these things can sometimes happen at a moments notice. What is concerning to me is the owners reaction. In an email, he expressed doubt that the tattoo was actually infected, and to give it some additional time to heal. There was a strong feeling of defensiveness in the email, and I felt quite chastised for expressing my concerns. In no way did I ever doubt the owners expertise or sanitation methods. I was simply wondering if this was still a normal byproduct of the procedure. However, I ultimately I followed his advice and figured it was just a product of healing.Several days later, the tattoo worsened, and I was forced to go to a emergency clinic. The doctor revealed that it was in fact an infection, inquired as to where I got the tattoo, and suggested I waited far too long to come in for treatment. After several antibiotics later, the tattoo looks quite nice. I have never heard from the owner since that update regarding my situation. Its unfortunate since Steve is clearly immensely talented. However, the defensive response and subsequent radio silence afterwards is something to be cautious about going forward. Plan for a great tattoo, but expect nothing in the event of any problems.

Great experience and product. I gave Steve the design specs I wanted and he worked his artistic and technical magic. Very professional and personable. The studio is clean and I felt comfortable knowing Steve took exceptional care during the entire process. My tattoo is really beautiful - full of color and detail. Definitely worth the wait for an appointment for top-notch quality work...Another great tattoo yesterday. Steve is the best! Love the gallery and featured artists... Dont forget to hydrate and eat something balanced before your appointment. I skipped lunch before my longish session and really felt it.

Steve was amazing. This was my first tattoo and he patiently worked with me to figure out what we would do. Then the process itself was quick, straightforward, and didnt hurt at all, almost. Plus the shop is very cool, with lots of great artworks hanging all over.

Steve was so kind and took his time! He was patient with me and understanding due to this being my first tattoo experience. It was very clean, and he was extremely professional. I would definitely recommend using Steve as your tattoo artist.

Steve was super chill, professional, and all around wonderful to work with. The shop was clean and comfortable. I saw him meticulously check, clean, and set up the equipment which made me feel very safe. I came in with a specific font I wanted and the tattoo turned out EXACTLY how I had hoped. I had a great experience with Steve at Black Moth. The shop is clean, inviting, and Steve is awesome to work with! I gave him some inspiration photos of what I was looking for and the design he came up with is pretty much exactly what I envisioned but couldnt draw myself. It was done in two sessions, about a month apart. I absolutely love my tattoo, and get a little thrill every time I look down at my foot and see it. Ill be going there for all new tattoos and touchups in the future!

Very phenomenal experience. Got a giant cover up on my leg and each session I love my tattoo more and more. Steve Martin is a magnificent artist with a killer playlist. I stopped by the shop last night as a walk-in. I described the kind of tat I wanted. Steve found a cool design and inked me up. The tat came out looking sharp and sweet.. The shop was very clean. Steve was totally professional. We also had great conversation during the painfest. I recommend this shop and Steve without reservation. :-)

This was my first experience with a tattoo artist, and I have to say, Steve set the bar very high. Luckily, he’s local for me so any future work I have done will be with him.One email sent via the site from me, he replied, said to stop in and we can chat and bounce ideas around, and go from there. I needed something very simple and we got a design in no time, had it done in even less, and I’m a happy first-timer.Very clean, very professional, no complaints at all. Steve just finished a big (for me) piece. I really appreciate his integrity, and honesty. I had a lot of loose ideas of what I wanted and we talked them all through and came up with something... stunning and original. The lines are great, the colors vibrant. He’s a true artist and professional in every sense of the word. Can’t wait to get some else done!
