This place is awesome. Came in for a consult on getting a basic memorial for my dog before our wedding. Planned to do a pretty basic outline. But what I left with brought me to tears (in a good way). I had an awesome Staffy/Lab mix, with the funniest Yoda ears. I had reference photos, but not exactly one I wanted. After talking to a couple of gentlemen in the shop about what I wanted and my budget, they figured out an artist they felt would be right for the style I wanted. And boy were they right. I was able to email over those photos while in the shop. And I met with Artist Kara. We set the appointment for a couple of days later. When I went to the appointment, she was super nice, all of the staff seemed to help each other out and seemed to actually like each other. Artist Kara showed me her ideas with 3 different sketches. We worked together and came up with exactly what I wanted. Then she had the patience when I decided that I wanted to add a scarf to the sketch. She was able to accommodate and resketch on the spot. While she was creating the stencil,, I saw her artwork and how well she colored. I had no intention of getting color done, but her drawings looked nice. I talked to her about colors and she was able to change the whole concept and add colors... and didnt make me feel bad of difficult for changing my mind. During the tattoo, she was good conversation, she was a great listener when I spoke on forever about my dog. She wasnt heavy handed at all and had amazing line work. What I really love is that all during the process, the other artists really seemed to get along and talk to each other when they didnt have clients. (Ive been to tattoo shops were artists competed with each other, didnt like each other, or just had a bad vibe with one another or didnt pay attention to their clients. Its always awkward to watch other people getting tattoos done trying to have conversation, while their tattooer seemed annoyed. So this was super refreshing)Lets see, what else. The shop was very clean and decorated for the upcoming holiday. And they offered water or soda... which is a very nice and appreciated touch. Im sure Ill remember more to add later. Or when I get another one done

Recently got a tattoo for my birthday, my artist Kara did an amazing job to make sure I was comfortable. Listening to all the conversations around the shop made me laugh a bit. Overall just lovely people. 10/10 would recommend

Went and got my lobes pierced by Alyssa. She explained her process and helped me feel comfortable on the piercing chair. 10/10 recommend this place and especially Alyssa if you’re looking for piercings!!

The last tattoo I received was from this shop, about 2 years ago. I had a recommendation to get a tattoo from Bart, I went in and asked for him. Bart told me that the particular piece I wanted was better suited for one of his other artists, I took his advice.The piece was a black and gray wolf for my son. Everything looked great when the artist placed it (I don’t recall his name, he no longer works there. He was from Herriman)I was positioned so I couldn’t see the work being performed, my ONLY ask was that it not touch any of my other pieces - long story short, it touches two other tattoos, no gap. Extremely disappointing and upsetting.This experience made me fall out of love with tattoos, I haven’t visited any other shops to see if an artist could fix it.

Just got an amazing tattoo and 2 piercings. I cant even express how amazing, beautiful, professional and tasteful everyone is. My best friend and I were so excited for our appointment, which was made in no time at all and we got more than we could ask for. Its hard to trust people with your body but 100% hands down, from walking in to walking out, I am just so amazed and grateful. Thanks so very much!

My wife has had really bad migraines on and off for years. He (sorry can’t remember his name) took his time and made sure he placed the piercing in the proper spot to get the most relief. It was almost instant relief. Thank you!!

This is hands down, the best den of Artists around! No idea what that negative review regarding a touch up is about…maybe if some people take the time to care for the ink after it’s set, would make the world of difference…I have had multiple new tattoos and touch ups here from the Platypus team and have always had EXTREMELY POSITIVE experiences. They know exactly what they are doing, as well as taking the time to cover care and healing with you. The whole concept of getting a tattoo isn’t just the initial ink being put into the skin, more so the after care and hygiene. Will always recommend 10/10 for newbies or veterans in the tattoo game, Bart and his team know how to take care of anyone that walks through the doors from start to finish!

This place was amazing!! I have been recommended here before for piercings but I have been hesitant. As soon as I called and I walked in I felt comfortable! Mo and Alyssa were so fun to be around and on top of everything! While being professional and fun, they were explaining everything to me and being patient. I will be back in future!

I’ve gotten several tattoos here and recommend them to anyone (friends, coworkers) that asks me about ink. Everyone is nice and you can tell they really care about their work. They’re the first place I go when I’m ready for a new piece. I recently got both my knees done by Marshall and I couldn’t be happier with them! :)

I went in with my best friend today to get my septum pierced and his bridge done. This is by far my favorite experience with piercing! I’ve gone with quite a few friends and had a few of my own done. In the past I’ve had to take a few out of my ears because they were crooked or with my industrial they just didn’t use a long enough bar. So I was nervous to say the least. Karl and his apprentice (didn’t catch her name) were phenomenal! Not only am I stoked on my first facial piercing but my friend’s bridge looks dope too! Karl spent quite awhile lining both of our piercings up and I really appreciated his attention to detail. The results show! His apprentice went over aftercare with us and answered all my newby questions without any judgement. I’m often intimidated in environments like this shop because I haven’t had the time to get the tattoos or piercings I want and I felt no intimidation whatsoever. Literally everyone we spoke with was kind, informative and super helpful. I’ll definitely be coming back (: I’ll add photos in a few weeks once I have jewelry because they used a staple and I’ll ask my friend if he minds me posting his bridge.To everyone in the shop that helped us today, thank you so so much!

I like this shop, I had Jackson do a tattoo for me about a year ago. We breezed through it really easy and I feel it has aged well. Everyone at the studio is very nice and the place is clean.

Got my sleeve done by Barlows. Very happy with the outcome, I get compliments on my sleeve daily. I’m very excited to go back and get more work done. Barlows is very kind the whole time and easy to chat with, and personable. Shout out to the shop owner Bart as well! I haven’t been tattooed by him, but every time I come into his tattoo shop, he’s working on a really cool tattoo, and He is always very kind and welcoming to me. Both Barlows, Bart, and his apprentices are always checking in with me throughout the session to see if I need any water, soda, food, or anything at all to make sure I’m as comfortable as I can possibly be. I have been to their shop many times while working on my sleeve, and every time I receive the same excellent care, I leave with high quality work, and good memories every time.

Trevor did my first tattoo. Hes recomended to everyone. Reasonable and unbelieveable tattoo. If i gould give 10 stars i would. I was a little nervous but it was awesome !! Dont go anywhere else for tats or pierces.

Me and my fiance went in to get piercing on 8/28 - I got my first lip piercing (was super nervous) and she got her nose re-pierced after having it out for a few years. Karl was so cool and good at making it quick and easy for both of us. 10/10 would recommend this place. Super clean, super chill and good vibes. Definitely going to get a tattoo from this shop next.

I came to Karl to get 3 piercings. 2 in one ear one in the other. He told me I shouldnt do it but I just wanted to get it done in one visit. He was so compliant even tho he told me Id be miserable he was super fast and he distracted me through the whole process and took the time to tell me how to care for them afterwards. I only got them a week ago and they already feel like theyre healing super great. Ive had piercings done at different shops before and never had a great experience but I had an amazing experience here. Will definitely be going back! Thanks for the great service.

Took my wife and daughter to get both their ears pierced for my daughters birthday. The shop was absolutely spotless, fresh, and clean. The owner made us feel very comfortable and welcome. Ive followed Jackson Barlow from shop to shop and all I can say is this shop is my favorite so far! Everyone is helpful, fun and nice. The work they do, especially Jackson, is phenomenal!! Bart the owner took time out of his day to just chat with me while Ive been in the shop. The artist are all so supportive of each other and their work and it shows! If you want a phenomenal quality tattoo and actually want to enjoy the experience while getting a tattoo then COME HERE. You wont regret it.

Got a tattoo from them In 2018 paid to get it fixed twice then got it fixed a third timeScared up my whole arm. Also got a bridge piercing that was pierced crooked the first time they re did it and pierced crooked the second time as well. Every time I call and set up to buy jewelry for my piercing I drive to the shop and they are not there and the apprentice wants to charge me 10$ over what I was told originally. Every time I have a problem with the work that’s been done here it’s always my fault according to them. Even tho I got 4 other tattoo artists opinions at various shops and they all advised it was the tattoo artist / piercers mistake. I’m not writing a negative review to oppose people to come here I’m just frustrated with the permanent scars I have on my face and body made by them and being told it was my doing.

Fiona is the best!! Absolutely my favorite artist super accommodating amazing at work and great at what she does! I’ve got 5 from here so far and plan to go to her for all my main piece’s! Love her and her work 10/5 stars if you want the perfect tattoo she’s your gal!

I have been to Platypus quite a few times, I have gotten 4 piercings done by Karl Johnston and he is amazing, he was definitely very professional, when he marked the spots for my piercing he had me look at them and they looked good, and my piercings turned out amazing, and when I have had any concerns about my piercings he was very helpful with it! They also have done some amazing work with tattoos, they are very clean and sanitary about EVERYTHING!! I absolutely love everyone who works at Platypus, they are all very nice and professional, I absolutely love going to Platypus tattoo! I definitely recommend it!

I went in to get my septum piercing redone after letting it close. The piercer (Karl, I believe) found that it was only halfway closed but open the other half. He ended up giving me 50% off for that reason when he could have just lied and/or charged me the full price.I’ve also had a cover up done by Bart here and absolutely love how it turned out. I get endless compliments on the tattoo and have even had several people ask if Bart was the artist!

I went to get my first tattoo done by Jackson and that was the best decision I ever made. He made the atmosphere fun and enjoyable. The first time I walked into the shop, I was greeted promptly and while I waited for my consult the owner took me on a tour of the shop, even showed me their back rooms. It was so insanely clean! I was immediately impressed.I had my tattoo done by Trevor, and he was amazing. I got sunflowers on my lower arm. He was able to freehand draw them, and then he shaded them to ensure they stayed feminine and beautiful. I’m absolutely obsessed, and was so impressed. Trevor was personable and friendly. The whole shop has a fun and inviting energy.I definitely would recommend them to everyone, and will be using them again for all my tattoo and piercing needs.

I usually go to Gilded Lotus in Ogden, but at a recommendation from a friend we came here. I get a new piercing every new years day, so Im not new to the process.The atmosphere is not as comforting here, there isnt anything wrong just cramped and the piercing room has a table that feels less sturdy than the other shop. The piercing also seemed to take longer, more fiddling. The shop girls were really nice, the artist wasnt very personable though. Ill probably go back to the other shop next year, I just like the process there better.

I have been pierced by Mo and tattooed by Trevor and Bart, all of my experiences have been amazing here. My husband also comes into this shop frequently for his tattoos by Trevor and we LOVE it here. When we come in we are always greeted and welcomed. We are there so often it feels like family. They are very professional and clean I would 10/10 recommend this shop to everyone.

Trevor and Karl are amazing. Most recently I took my 12 year old daughter to get her ears pierced and the conversation Karl had with her and the patience and care he showed while piercing her was incredible. The shop is also clean and well kept. This is an awesome place!

Very easy to schedule an appointment with any of the artist and they also accept walk-ins if they’re not too booked. Overall 10/10 would go to them again.

Such a wonderful experience. I got a cover up of a tattoo that was bringing more bad memories than good. Everyone was so friendly! I walked in on a Thursday night and even though he was busy Trevor was able to work me in. Within an hour and a half I was on my way out with a tattoo I can look at and be proud to have. I wanted to get my sister a tattoo for her birthday gift and I am glad I chose this shop. Just as other reviews say, its very clean. The atmosphere is awesome, playing good music and they like to joke and have fun. They made it a good first experience for my sister, and I am pleased to have this tattoo as my 3rd. They were matching sibling tattoos and Trevor did amazing. They both look identical and very clean. Super impressed with this shop.

I bought some jewelry here not even a month ago because I wanted some “good jewelry” for my bellybutton piercing because other kinds I had used were aggravating it. I went here and spent the money on it, mind you it costs 30$ so not over the top expensive but still a lot for some jewelry that they mark as good quality which is what you should be getting when you spend the money. It helped for the first little while but then recently my piercing site where it’s pierced was getting super irritated and was very painful. I decided to take the jewelry out and clean it and see what the deal was cuz it was red, little blood, and so sore. I took the jewelry out and the bottom ball was broken off, little shards were breaking off the bottom ball and some on my stomach, I tried reconnecting it back on the bar but couldn’t because a chunk was missing where the shards of plastic or whatever they make it out was gone. No wonder my piercing had been so sore cuz that’s what was rubbing and poking at it, even to press my hand flat down on the piercing was so painful and it makes sense now cuz little pieces were literally jabbing into me. I called to see if there was anything that they could do since I spent good money on “good quality” they told me there was nothing that they could do, I could either pay for another one or basically just deal with it. I don’t see why I’d pay for another one and waste my money on a piece of jewelry that literally was harming my body. I won’t be wasting my money here no more on expensive marked jewelry that you could get better quality at Walmart.

Went in about a month ago for a consult to get my first tattoo. I was scheduled with Trevor. We started my thigh piece yesterday and I couldn’t be happier. Super nice guy and the shop had a great atmosphere. I felt comfortable the whole time and would recommend platypus tattoo to anyone looking to get a tattoo. Will definitely go back for all future tattoos as well.

This place is so awesome all the workers are amazing and do fantastic work the shop is clean and kid friendly i dont have to worry about what my 10 year old will see when he gose in there to watch the work get done or what my young teens will see when getting their belly noes or lip pierced thanks for being such a awesome shop!!!

I got a double helix piercing and a tattoo from Karl. He did an amazing job on all of them, super clean, super professional and has a great personality that makes the whole process comfortable. Would compare it to great bed side manner. I got exactly what I wanted and everything has healed way faster than any of my other piercings and tattoos. Will definitely be going back in the near future!

I was lucky enough to go in with my partner for a tattoo consultation. I took a chance on their gumball machine random tattoos and got a coupon for a hundred dollars off so essentially a tattoo of my choosing from the machine. 😊 Jackson did an amazing tattoo on my calf that i will treasure forever. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience and i would recommend the shop to anyone.

Trevor does amazing work. I had to get another tattoo to cover a scar from a tattoo laser removal. I was pretty upset about it too. I wanted him to come up with an meaningful design using my 4 kids birth month flowers that was about the same size as the old tattoo and he delivered. I only have the outline done so far to make sure the scaring takes the ink but I definitely walked out of that shop so happy that I got another tattoo. I can’t wait to see it colored in. Their shop is clean and everyone there is very friendly and professional and they make the experience fun too! Thank you for covering up what has bothered me for years and made me have to think carefully about what I should wear to hide the scar/old tattoo. I’m going to wear tank tops whenever I want now and I’m so excited about that! You have definitely made me a happy client ❤️

Its a decent place. Helpful and decently friendly. My vibes are iffy, but thats because I didnt really have communication or know any artists there previously before I just randomly walking in to get a piercing. But the fact that I dont like people, and I went back should say something good about this place. Go give them a try! (Plus they have a get what you get gumball Machi for the adventurous at heart)

I’ve been going there there almost every month for over a year and a half working on my tattoo. They keep the shop super clean and have fair prices for their work. Quoted for hourly which is $150 per hour. After the piece was finished, artist decided to charge me for the piece. Quoted me for 2-3 hours $450. Charged $300 for the piece when it took less than an hour to complete. Felt taken advantage of. If you agree on a price, stick to it. I couldn’t argue because he’d already done the work.

These guys are awesome! My sister and I decided to get matching tattoos while she was in town last week but were unsure where to go on such short notice. We walked in without an appointment and left with beautiful, clean and amazing tattoos! Ray did such an amazing job! His lines are so perfect and clean, we are definently proud to show off the work he did! I will definitely getting more work done by him!!!

Went into platypus to get my chest piece done by Fiona, I live a pretty good distance from there and its WORTH EVERY CENT! I loved it. Fiona by far is the best tattoo artist Ive had because shes not hard handed shes very gentle and fast, it turned out beautifully!!

Took my seven year old daughter in to get her ears pierced and they were awesome! Not only was the guy who did the piercing really good with kids and letting us know how to care for the new piercing, they did little things too like put on a kid appropriate movie on their TV when we sat down to wait our turn. It was overall great and I would recommend them!

They did my septum piercing earlier this year and were very professional and cool. I recently got my labret done with another shop (deja vu in Ogden, would NOT recommend them) and my lip was way too swollen for the original bar size. two sweet young ladies helped me get a longer bar size and even went over aftercare instructions with me, which is more than I can say for the original piercer... Thank You for your help!

I had a quick visit that was super dope. I went in for a nose ring and turned out it needed to be pushed through pretty good to get it in. When I tell you I was in and out of there in 20 mins it was a done deal. For piercings its for sure priced well I feel tattoos are a Lil high but very much could be worth it, so as always you get what you pay for. Having higher prices could definitely increase you work outcome. Me and my husband will definitely be back 👍💎❤️

I took my six year old daughter to get her ears pierced and couldnt be happier with the experience. Karl is fantastic with kids. I would recommend him to anyone with kids looking to get pierced. My daughter said she would give him one hundred stars. I agree. He spoke respectfully to her, made her feel like she was in charge of the experience, he calmed her down when she got scared. We showed up 10ish minutes before our appointment at 1 pm and the front girl was the sweetest and nicest girl ever and we high appreciate the offers of drinks and smiles she provided and constant check ups since karl was 25-30 minutes late. After he showed up two other girls showed up wanting a piercing and he immediately took them back and pierced them and we didn’t get started on our tattoos until a little after 1:50 pm, the tattoos took about 20ish minutes for both of us, little ones on our hands and we got charged for the 50 minutes we waited for him, which was unprofessional because he did not even tattoo us within that time and was super late, i understand the time he did but having to wait almost an hour and get charged for it was to much. We paid 240 dollars for 50 minutes and got charged for 2 hours. Im glad my brother loves his artist there but I’ll never be going back, the artist did not even wrap mine and my mothers tattoos after he was done, did not clean the hand before tattooing and did not instruct any after care when done, was very uptight, cocky, careless and unprofessional with us. For someone who has tattooed for “20 years” should know better than to be careless in my opinion.

AMAZING artists, amazing vibes, this whole place is awesome. Friendly, clean, professional, fun, everything you could ask for in a shop! Awesome music and Trevor (the artist who was tattooing me) checked on me multiple times; he asked how I was doing, if I needed anything, and reminded me if I needed a break that was totally okay. I kept telling myself I didn’t need a break and I was a “tough” girl but out of nowhere I decided we needed to pause. He gave me water and took extra measures to make sure I was okay. Yesterday was my second time in the shop, also. My first time I was a walk in, desperately wanting some ink. Trevor started a large piece on my side and managed to get the lining over scars and stretch marks AMAZINGLY. So of course I booked with him again to get my dream tattoo done (the main reason I even went to this shop). Yesterday he made that dream tattoo happen. I told myself when I went in, if it was so good it made me cry (from happiness), I’d tip him with all of the cash I had. Once we were done, the waterworks hadn’t started yet but they were there. When I was about to pay and leave, I realized how grateful I was to have this beautiful piece on my body forever and I cried. Like a baby. I’ve seen the work of the artists in this shop on the TVs, all of these artists deserve every penny they charge and every tip they earn. I am obsessed with my new tattoo, and I am looking forward to coming back soon to get my side finished and my beetlejuice sandworm started. If anyone looking into this shop has read this far, JUST GO IN this is a sign. Thanks platypus tattoo for everything! And thanks Trevor for being the one to put up with me in the chair.

Absolutely grade A tattoo shop. The staff is kind, considerate, and attentive. Me and my friend broke the golden rule of tattoo etiquette and came in for short notice tattoos and our artist Karl Johnston was nothing but helpful and willing to go above and beyond what you should expect from an artist. Got a consultation and then three piercings from Mo. The entire shop is professional, sterile, skilled and knowledgable. Very important things when it comes to tattoos and piercings. I would highly recommend this place to anyone getting their first body manipulation to their one hundredth. Atmosphere was very relaxed and comfortable. Advice: bring cash (card charges $5 to use), and leave a nice tip because these guys are awesome.

Mo was wonderful! I got my nose pierced by him, and the whole time he was very informative and funny! All my questions and concerns were addressed, and I felt very comfortable the whole time. The shop is absolutely spotless, not a speck of dirt to be seen! The pricing is definitely affordable & reasonable. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming, I would absolutely recommend!

I have had so many bad piercings from the 80’s. I went in for my nose. I wanted two but went with one. I do wish I did the two. However, I feel asleep and accidentally ripped it out. I drove back in a panic and Karl re-pierced exactly through the same hole which is absolutely amazing. Very friendly staff and atmosphere.

I was tattooed by Trevor, he did such an amazing job , the tattoo I wanted was special to me because it is of my daughters hand prints and her name , he made the hand prints look exactly like her ones I stamped for him , we also added some extras so the tattoo wasnt like the standard kid name tattoo lol. The shop is suuuper clean, and everyone is super nice , my experience was amazing and I plan to go back for my tattoo needs🖤

My daughter went here to get a daith earring back replaced. They arent the ones who did her initial piercing, but they took her right in and helped her anyway. She said the place was very clean, and the employees were super nice! Im going to have Karl do my Daith as well!

A few weeks ago I got a piercing. I’ve had my ears pierced countless times and I always end up taking them out because I am allergic to nickel and I’ll have a reaction that doesn’t allow them to heal. I have had zero issues with these, even the new piercing I’d never had before. They are definitely doing something right and I’d go here again.Added bonus the two guys there were friendly and funny. I called Karl at the last minute while I was passing through town and he made time to do a quick tattoo that turned out amazing. It turned out better than I could’ve imagined. Took my 16 year old daughter to get a Helix piercing in her left ear tonight. Karl was very patient and took extra time with my daughter to explain all the options and make sure she got exactly what she wanted. I have known Bart for several years now from other studios hes worked at in the past. I would never hesitate to get more tattoos from Bart. Would give more than 5 stars if I could.
