Black Squirrel Tattoo

I have been trying to find the words to accurately express how amazed and how in awe I am. I set up my consultation with Matt in May for an extremely important tattoo to me. I ended up changing it up on him a couple months prior and he made the idea come to life and it is the MOST BEAUTIFUL to tattoo I have ever received. You could just tell how important detail is to him and how he wants to make everything perfect. The process was so easy. From setting up the consultation, to changing things up. The front desk girl is the absolute sweetest and has handled all my emails so well 😅 I can’t stop staring at my tattoo. Thank you so much Matt & everyone at Black Squirrel! I can’t wait to get my next piece done!!

I have had a few tattoos from Matt D at Black Squirrel in Council Bluffs, he is very professional and is an extremely talented artist. My wife and daughter also have artwork from Matt and they love his work. We all highly recommend him if you are looking for the best artist in the area.

Matt didnt seem like he was wanting to my tattoo after met to consult, but when I went in for appointment, I was surprised to see what he had designed. Since this was my first tattoo, he wasnt sure if I could make it through one sitting, but he gave me a break between the black and gray and doing the color. Liked the music he played, but did wish he would have tried to talk more; it might have helped me not feel all the pain. Ive already decided I want more and would definitely let Matt do it!!!!

At my consultation, I provided 3 pictures of what I wanted and then left it in Matt’s hands to create my tattoo. Did not see it until I showed up for my appointment and it was exactly what I wanted. The final tattoo is stunning! To the point that I was part of a parade in my local area today and a parade bystander yelled at me “I love your tattoo!” A very happy customer and will gladly spread the word!

I recently got some work done by Matt and could not be happier. It was my first tattoo, and I, admittedly, was rather picky about size and placement. Matt worked with me through every minor adjustment until the size and placement were perfect. The tattoo was a series of small, intricate symbols in a line down my leg. Not only did he tattoo the symbols exactly as they are in real life, but they lie in a precise, straight line down the entirety of my leg. It was not an easy tattoo and Matt nailed it. Thank you, Matt, I will definitely be back if you will have me!

I had a great experience with Brad for a custom memorial and dedication bouquet for some very important people in my life. He is welcoming and listened to my ideas and made my vision come to life wonderfully. I would absolutely recommend him and will definitely be back. The shop in general is very clean and organized.

My experience with Black Squirrel Tattoo was an Amazing one. They were very professional and courteous. I had the basics of a design in black and white but wanted them to make it look better and also colorize it. They did an AMAZING job! I was very impressed and they kept all appointments and stayed in touch with me via email really well. I would for sure go back there again. Matt has done several pieces for me. One including a full sleeve. He even was able to fix a bad tattoo that i got from a different shop. His fine lining is second to none. I don’t make very many reviews on Google, but I feel the need to.My dog of 12 years died of brain cancer in August of 2021, and losing him was one of the hardest losses I’ve ever endured. Not only because he was my first dog I rescued as an adult, and not just a family dog, but mostly because of the disease that killed him, and how quickly he deteriorated, and seeing him suffer was beyond tragic.When I had to make the decision to put him down, I knew immediately that I needed a portrait piece of him. I searched the internet, and found Matt Dinovo. He had tattooed me before, and while I’m very awkward and have social anxiety, and just anxiety in general, and he is a man of few words, I still knew that his talent was impeccable.When I went into my appointment, my anxiety was through the roof. I wasn’t sure what to expect, although he tried his best to explain. I was feeling ill with worry, and while Matt isn’t the best with awkward situations (I’m not either…so it was uncomfortable at first), the finished product was immaculate. He has such a gift of knowing exactly how to show my dog’s inquisitive look in his eyes. Also, my tattoo is almost all the way healed, and it’s only been a week. Quality is perfection. Regardless of awkwardness. I am so happy with how he portrayed my beloved pup.Everything about his shop is clean, professional, and (despite anxiety) very comfortable. The amount of compliments I’ve gotten from both tattoos I’ve gotten from him just shows how gifted this guy is.

I went to Matt Dinovo for my very first tattoo, a portrait of my dog. He completely blew me away!!! The portrait is beautiful and incredibly realistic!!! His attention to detail, calm manner, and AMAZING natural talent all combined to make this the best first tattoo experience I could have hoped for. I would recommend him to anyone!

HIGHLY RECCOMEND THIS PLACE!5 STARS BECAUSE:1. The girl at the entrance was cool, quick and she listened with no problem to what I wanted.2. It was a random walk in and I got there like @ 5pm and took longer for me to pitch what I wanted than get my tattoo done. It was a quick amazing experience that left me wanting to come back.3.Penny was the artist and she is so awesome! I could relate with her, I felt comfortable telling her exactly what I wanted and she listened to everything and asked me a lot of questions about my preferences from color to placement and size. She changed the placement multiple times until I was happy with it.4. She detailed my tattoo and made it look just like I wanted it to look like. I was very specific about what I want it and how fine I wanted the lines, the look I want to be to the shading and she got everything the way I wanted it. Its worth every penny.5. I went to the Back squirrel of Center St. But it was busy (is not their bad, they are great too) and the staff there was also very nice and attentive. That means a lot to me.People are real ,down to earth and approachable. Great customer service!Im super happy with my tattoo and want Penny to do all my tattoos from now on :)THANK YOU!!

Brad has done 5 tattoos for me now and the artwork is amazing! He provides a super fun and laid back experience. I will continue to get more work done from him and would refer anyone to him. Plus, he has a great beard 👍

Very cool place. incredible atmosphere. I wanted a black and grey tattoo of Eddy Merckx (Greatest cyclist of all time) on my left calf. Brad did the work and the quality far exceeded my expectations. the work was done surprisingly fast and very well. Ill attach a healed photo. theres a little glare in the shot, but you get the idea.

Penny Stahr has done several pieces for me. She takes the clients ideas and turns it into a beautiful piece of art. Every tattoo I have by Penny is exactly as I envisioned. Pennys talent is not limited to one specific style. Each piece I have is different, some black and grey and some color, and all are done with clean lines and impeccable detail. The shop is also a beautiful space. Very clean and a great atmosphere. Im partial to my artist, but aside from that, overall experience at Black Squirrel, Council Bluffs is the best in the metro!

Matt Dinovo is my favorite local artist. He takes his craft seriously and is an incredible artist, whether it is original works or recreating something. Great with colors or black and white shading. My wife and I will always go to him. 6 tattoos between the 2 of us by him so far. That number will easily climb into the double digits.

After having tattoos done at other locations in the area, I can without a doubt say that Black Squirrel is by far the best place you could go for a tattoo! The entire staff is friendly, engaging and is genuinely interested in the tattoos I have wanted. The turn around time from setting your appointment to getting the work done is quick, the cost is great, and the artists work with you to make sure youre not only getting exactly what you want, but getting a quality piece that is also a great long lasting tattoo.Aaron Kyle is my artist and after multiple sessions and tattoos with him, I can honestly say I will not go to anybody else for my tattoos in the future.Highly recommend him and Black Squirrel for any tattoo needs!!

Ive done all but my first piece at Black Squirrel. Ive been very impressed with the work done and the prices. On one of my tattoos my blood sugar tanked and I was about to vomit and pass out; I had no idea what was going on. BUT my artist knew exactly what was happening, quickly explained the situation, and gave me a Mtn Dew immediately. I was back to normal in seconds and was able to finish my piece. This exemplifies his experience and knowledge, while also leaving me thinking Im glad I went here.Ask for Brad as your artist. Wont disappoint.

We came in on a whim for our 10th wedding anniversary. Penny was able to see us, and was able to design EXACTLY what we wanted. The price was good and they were super laid back and friendly. Will be returning.

I was never thrilled with the colors of original tattoo and so had it recolored and added to it and changed colors. Love the shading on the flames now

Not impressed with this place at all. I went in to talk about the tattoo I wanted. This would be my first one. When I described what I wanted the gal behind the desk smirked. The guy waiting on me started looking up pictures even though I already had several designs in mind. I had to put down a deposit and book for another day. I left there feeling demeaned and belittled. Again, my first time and I thought maybe thats just how they are. Stopped in at another place on my way and was treated with respect. I got my tattoo there, that very moment. Went back to Black Squirrel to cancel my upcoming appointment and get my deposit back. At the time of booking the guy said if I cancel 24 hrs in advance of appointment the deposit is refundable. The smirking gal said to me, we dont generally refund deposits. I said, yes you do, thats what Brad told me when I booked it with you standing right behind him. Not impressed with their customer interactions or service.

I’d assume they do good work, but customer interactions wasn’t the best at all. Dude seems like he’d rather be home then at work with his attitude. I hope they wear masks at home around their kids and family as I’m afraid to get COVID from stepping into this place. Also Iv asked around and the guy I’m referencing too has had attitudes with others as well.

He just wanted to get me out of there.They say they do walk in but really dontHe told me the tat I wanted wouldnt look good.That same day went to another BETTER Artist and he tattooed what I wanted and I love it! Seems if you want anything with alot of work they are not interested. Went in for a full back tattoo and no one could do it. Went to another shop and no issues at all. Place did look nice though

Couldnt even have a quick phone conversation to get info. Drove there and doors were locked. They dont do personal consults anymore either. Was told you can send e mail only. Then they decide if they want you as a client. I went elsewhere and immediately got the help I needed. I dont recommend them.
