I had the pleasure of being tattooed by Abbigail last weekend! She did such an amazing job, and she was so friendly and made the whole tattoo process a breeze. Not to mention I absolutely love the tattoo she did on me and I love her work! She is super responsive as well which is nice, I even recommended my mom to get work done by her in the future! Also so has the cutest tattoo station ☺️💗

I recently had a cover up tattoo done by Taylor and I was incredibly pleased with the experience. I hadn’t had a tattoo done in years and he helped design something that completely covered my existing tattoo. It is an amazing full color tattoo that exceeded my expectations. Taylor is an incredible artist and this studio is top tier.

Excellent service for my daughters first ear piercing. Marcus was above and beyond to help us. Ill be honest, a tattoo place would not have been my first thought for this experience, but he did a fantastic job!

I had some piercings done by Brenna and she was so awesome and professional! She thoroughly explained every step of the process. She was very precise and detail oriented about making sure I was happy with the placement and the piercings would look the best. Great experience, even as a walk-in without an appointment! The entire staff is very friendly. Abbi did a great job on my tattoo. My jr high age niece got some piercings and they were wonderful with her too. The shop is very clean and organized. I will definitely be a return customer.

Marcus was extremely helpful with my piercing and gave me a lot of information regarding it. Took care of any and all concerns I had right away. Will be coming here again for piercings. Although the place is beautiful and the customer service was very good, I found that their prices for ear piercings are outrageous. I was given different options for a pair of earrings and I was told the prices. After other fees were calculated, my total was $185...this is not just for the ear piercings, that was a separate price. This includes the price of the earrings-I discovered the prices he was telling me was per ear, not pair....which makes a double difference! I thought I was splurging on a $45 pair which realistically totaled $90 for the pair...I do believe I made it clear I wanted each each pierced, but thats beside the point. I was also told the earring backs were $15/each, totalling $30...shouldnt you get a pair of earrings with the back included? Im sorry guys, if I was made of money, I might have done that, but to charge for the backs is absolutely ridiculous!

Travis gave me and my little sister sibling tattoos that turned out amazing! He’s an amazing artist and my sister and I are both very happy. The shop was clean and each artist sterilized their stations as soon as they were done helping someone. Overall would recommend. This is my second time coming here and it’s been a great experience both times!!

My wife and I came in for matching anniversary tattoos. Our Artist was Abbi. She took the time to listen to exactly what we wanted and she designed it perfectly. She also did a memorial piece on my wife the same day and she absolutely killed it! The studio is clean and has a great atmosphere. We will definitely be going back to Monsters Ink for our tattoos.

Marcus was absolutely incredible with piercing my daughters (6) ear lobes. He walked us both through every step and made us feel very comfortable and in good hands. You can tell he cares about his clients and their experience. 10 out of 10 would recommend to everyone.

I have been thinking of getting a tattoo for awhile now and a friend of mine said this place was great. Told the guy at the counter what I wanted he recommended Fee and gave me her email and she responded right away and we were able to set up an appointment just a few weeks from then. This was my first ever tattoo and I love how it turned out if I ever get another in the future Ill be coming back! Update: I did come back exactly one year later and my second tattoo turned out even better!

I was looking to cover up a tattoo I got when I was 16 and was wanting a solid black band. Travis asked me if that was what I really wanted because we could do something really cool and cover it up. He was very patient in working with me on an impromptu design. I am 100% in love with the cover up and 100% grateful I didnt just get a solid black band to cover it up. He was very nice and personable, will definitely be back.

Amazing experience. Taylor was super kind and talked me through the whole process, which meant a lot to me since I was a tattoo virgin. Absolutely amazed by the results and would definitely like to book an appointment again (when I have the money lol). He tattooed a sketch my dad made and I couldnt be happier with the result. Reasonable pricing as well.

Very clean place. Everyone was very friendly, and very professional. We took our daughter to get her nose pierced for her birthday, and they explained all the follow up care very well and they told her she could come back with help changing out her ring anytime.I would highly recommend this facility for any piercing needs.

Facility is very clean and organized. Staff is warm and friendly. I had my earlobes peirced by Marcus and he was very patient and knowledgeable. Definitely will be returning for future services. Also very LGBTQ friendly, which is a huge plus in my books. Highly recommend any service!

They are phenomenal! Color, line work, shading. Sanitation, and all around great people. I come from Chicago to Crystal Lake to get tattooed over there. My Tatts get complimented all the time, and they have done cover-ups that dont look like Cover-ups. I wouldnt go anywhere else.

My daughter and I wanted to get matching tattoos. It was her first one and my fifth. I searched for months for a place where I felt a good vibe and every tattoo artist in my area fell short. I had several friends from the Crystal Lake area recommend Monster Ink. So, I contacted them, had a swift and friendly response, and they were able to schedule us for the following day! Regardless of the long drive, I had a great feeling about this place. Colin Kasper did my tattoo while Morgan did my daughters. We couldnt have had a better experience!! The positive energy from both of them locked in permanent customers with us!! Their artwork was exactly what we wanted and we have several larger tattoos we plan to get. I am recommending them to anyone I know who wants to get inked. Thank you so much!!!

I have several small, simple tattoos. These have always been done quickly and efficiently, over before you know it. The tattoo I got here was no different. Super simple and should have been easy to do quickly. I have never experienced being charged by the hour before, so that was new for me. I honestly feel that my artist took advantage of that. She dragged out the work, taking an excessively long time cleaning, setting up, typing the sentence on her iPad, printing out out. She also took breaks in the back room several times. Every time she came back to me, she apologized that this was taking such a long time. I was expecting that surely she wouldn’t charge me for all the time she was taking since it was out of the ordinary. A tattoo that should have taken 15 minutes took over an hour. It really feels like I got ripped off. I’ve never paid by the hour before. Not sure if that is the new norm? Won’t go to a place that does that again.

After originally posting a 2 star review based around layered misconceptions on MY part… 5 stars is not enough for my experience. After some time reflecting over my ridiculous emotional response, I realized I needed to seek forgiveness from the folks at Monster Ink for my being a jack @$$. I sent over an email and everyone involved was beyond forgiving and empathetic to the entirety of my situation. They showed class beyond normal human parameters🤯. Jackie the studio manager reached out to me and was extremely helpful and kind. Everyone I encountered there all felt like genuine authentic people just trying to be good to people and give them really good tattoos. I love that! I just spent the day with Colin, amazing tattooer and the most thought provoking conversation I’ve had in a long time. Colin came up with a BEAUTIFUL coverup tattoo for me that really captures the expression of what I’m after. I couldn’t be happier with the work and can’t wait to get back in to finish this one and get more! Thanks Jackie, Colin and everyone at Monster Ink Tattoo & Piercing!

I have had a nose piercing and a tattoo done here. The workers are extremely nice and show they care about their customers. Based on my experience this is the only place I want to go to have a piercing or tattoo!

I chose Annalise white to do my tattoo after they did one for my friend. She did an amazing job making me feel comfortable to speak up and making the area as calming as possible. I absolutely will be coming back again. And it was cheaper than I expected

We took our 10 and 11 year old girls in for ear piercings theyve been asking for and the almost adult one for a septum shes been wanting for a while now. We DID NOT want to take the kids to be pierced by a gun at some teenage fashion store.Huge shout out to Marcus and the whole crew at Monsters Ink in Crystal Lake. They were all very welcoming and Marcus handled the kids fears with the patience of a saint and a bedside manner that some doctors could learn from. I could tell right away that he knows his craft and we were in good hands. Highly recommended.

I went in on a impulse with money from a friend for a nose piercing... They took me as a walk in, explained everything to me as its a first time facial piercing for me from best piece for it to complete after care for it. I am insanely happy and will definitely be returning for my first tattoo or more piercings as everyone in the shop was insanely kind and patient. I believe I worked with Haley, so I want to give a shout out to her and say thank you again. The shop was also very clean. I definitely recommend them!

Incase you’re debating on where to go to get piercings done, COME HERE!!! they are my absolute favorite! i’ve been here for my septum, and two nostril piercings and all 3 times were amazing. they make sure you’re comfortable, explain everything multiple times if need be, take their time sterilizing and prepping, and they are just all such kind people!! definitely a very welcoming and beautiful shop with a wide selection of jewelry!! there isn’t a single bad thing i can comment on this shop at all :)

Followed Sunshine to this shop and I love it. Very clean, very up-to-date technology wise, super friendly and relaxed but still professional. Sunnys work is phenomenal of course. She always takes good care of me. TJ noticed that I was struggling getting through the home stretch of my tattoo and got me a cup of water. So nice! Later, he expertly swapped out a poor quality piercing that I had gotten at a different shop about 6 weeks prior. These guys are awesome. Couldnt recommend more highly.

My daughter and I went to Monster Ink this weekend for mother/daughter tattoos. Hayden was our tattoo artist and he is amazing. My daughter was a tattoo virgin and was very nervous, especially with it being on the foot. Hayden answered all of her questions and talked her through every step. He was supportive and fun, with a you-can-do-it attitude. His work is amazing; we love our tattoos and my daughter feels so accomplished; she is already planning her next one! Everyone there is super friendly and they create a very welcoming and fun environment. We will be sure to go back to Hayden for all of our tattoo work and we highly recommend Hayden and Monster Ink.

I love this place and my new tattoo!!! The shop is clean and comfortable. Everyone that works there is so patient, understanding, and accommodating. They also do great work. I got a tattoo on my kneecap and my artist (Scott) did such a fantastic job despite me twitching, fidgeting, and nearly passing out (which they took very seriously and made sure I was totally good to go before starting up again). Everyone else I met there was nice and friendly, which made my experience that much more enjoyable. I recommend this place to anyone that listens! I seriously cannot overstate how great this shop is! I’ll definitely be back

Ive got 4 tattoos here over the last few years, and they wont be the last. Its the best work Ive ever had. This place is everything youd want out of a tattoo shop. I truly cant speaking highly enough about Monster Ink.

This place is amazing!!! From start to finish they were so helpful and nice! I’d been searching for a nice tattoo place that took reservations, so I emailed them on a Monday and by Thursday o had an appointment already booked!! Annalise did an amazing job on my tattoos and I even went back the next week to get some new earrings that I saw there and they even changed my earrings for me with no charge!!! 20/10 would recommend!!!!!!

TJ is an amazing piercer! You’ll always know what to expect and be given detailed aftercare instructions. If the piercing you want doesn’t work with your anatomy he will be honest with you and not do it, for your benefit. He’s very friendly and easy to talk to! Definitely recommend getting a piercing from TJ you won’t be disappointed!

One of the nicer tattoo parlors Ive been in! Its clean, open, and has a pretty cool atmosphere. It was nice to be able to see the artists working on their clients with the open layout of the building.I went here for a tattoo from Sunshine since shes done a tattoo of mine before and she did a great job just as before. Shes one of the best tattoo artists in McHenry County, Id highly recommend her!

Definitely an awesome place with awesome talent. I went in to just get my nose inspected to see if it healed enough to get re-pierced, because 3 years ago I had it done somewhere else at it was a horrible experience that took forever and wasnt even done properly... TJ was able to squeeze me in during his down time and the process was soo quick I couldnt believe it was already over. Super nice guy who clearly knows his stuff, I highly recommend to anyone looking to get a piercing to go here and ask for him!

My mom and I came in yesterday to get matching mother/daughter tattoos from Devin. It was my mom’s first time getting a tattoo and she was so nervous but Devin was great with her. The tattoos came out beautiful. The shop was clean and friendly, and they had some good music playing while we got tattooed. Everyone there was professional and it was a great atmosphere. It was a terrific experience and I’ll definitely be back! Thanks for the beautiful tattoos Devin! It only let me post one picture so I posted mine, but my mom’s looks great too.

On 5/5/21 I visited the store and sat down. While sitting there for about 10 minutes I saw employees in the back talking and laughing. I finally got up and went to the counter and stood there another few minutes until someone finally acknowledged my existence. I told him I was there to schedule another tattoo and he asked if I wanted someone in particular. I said Kendall since she did such a great job on my first one. He glanced at his phone and said she was booked for a few weeks. So he said it would be best to email her and gave me her card. I emailed as soon as I got home. As of 5/7/21, no reply. This is not very good customer service in my opinion.

Fee did such a great job making my tattoo exactly what I wanted! I sent her a photo and then we were able to make some edits together. She suggested adding some shading and it ended up being so much better than I expected. She made me feel calm and comfortable throughout the process. My husband and I will be going back to her.

Staff was super friendly and informative. TJ did an amazing job making me feel comfortable while I got my piercing, explaining every step and giving clear aftercare instructions. Definitely hope to come back in the future for more.

I’ve come to Monsters Ink twice now and both times Colin has been my artist, and I will continue coming to him for my work. My first piece was just words down my spine but my second visit I got a large tiger on my back/side. Colin was super friendly and made conversation the entire time

Went in inquiring about a Snug piercing being infected that was done at another piercer and found out I had the completely wrong jewelry! After near two months of having the piercing the swelling and irritation was getting worse and was to the point of unbearable. I didn’t have to wait long to be taken care of and the piercer explained to me what was happening while another piercer cleaned your and removed my old piercing. Although uncomfortable the process was relatively quick and with the new jewelry I felt INSTANT relief. Super satisfied with the work and cleanliness of everything and will for sure be back for future piercings and maybe even my first tattoo once I look into the work of the artists. Thank you so much!!

TJ was beyond amazing! Great personality, knowledgeable of the industry and jewelry. My piercings normally reject and he had better quality jewelry to use on me! Was able to walk-in no appointment needed. Got me signed in, picked out jewelry, pierced and tapers in for gaging, paid and out the door in approximately 30 minutes. I definitely know why they were voted one of McHenry Counties best!!!

Got my first tattoo last week with Matt Glick! He explained everything he was doing and made sure everything was to my liking before getting started. Entire experience was great and I love my new Harry Potter tattoo! Will definitely be returning.

I got a nose piercing here and i am very happy with my visit. They guy and girl that pierced my nose were very sweet and and the girl told me about the healing process. when the guy was piercing my nose he walked me through the whole thing ahead of time and then told me what he was doing during the piercing process. TJ did my tragus piercing and he was awesome. I have quite a few ear piercings all done by different people and TJ is definitely the best. He explained everything that was going on from the moment I stepped in the room. I will definitely be going back and will be recommending him to my friends as well.

TJ and his super cool apprentice (forgot her name, sorry!) pierced my nose on friday and made it a really awesome experience. They were both super helpful in explaining the process and aftercare and the piercing looks great! Pretty cool selection of jewelry too!

I can’t speak highly enough about the crew here. So kind and welcoming as you walk in, and so patient walking you through the process. Was anxious for my piercings , but the easy going, while still professional, atmosphere eased that quick. TJ is very great about walking you through the plans and process and making it as comfortable and relaxing as possible. Shop is incredibly cleanly, and all items used are single use and sanitary sealed, including gloves, needles, wipes, and liners.Bench is wiped right before you sit and after you get up. All jewelry is put through a full medical grade sanitizer right there for you to see.They also pierce with implant grade titanium, which is incredible for sensitive ears and first time customers who don’t know their possible reactions.Will absolutely be recommending to everyone I know and coming back every chance I get. Thank you TJ and Crew! Was pain free within minutes and on the road to healing!

Brought my daughter in to get her ears pierced and she didnt cry once. My daughter cries if her ketchup touches her fries. It was an amazing experience!Cant say enough about how great Sam was. Thanks so much Sam!

I recently was pierced by Haley. She was so helpful while I was picking out jewelry for the helix I wanted alongside helping me with new jewelry for my nose piercing. She was very informative and very gentle while she pierced me. I recommend her 100%!

TJ was fantastic! My 8 year old was a little intimidated to get her very first ear piercing in a tattoo shop - but after it was done, she felt like it was the best place she could have gone (and the coolest)! TJ was beyond attentive, careful, and gave her popsicles to distract her from the little bit of stinging! And he explained everything thoroughly so she was completely comfortable with what was happening. We made the right choice going to Monster Ink!

TJ (the piercer) is the only piercer I trust enough to do ANY piercing. Hes super professional, comferting, and thorough. You can really tell that he takes tremendous pride in his work and takes what hes doing very seriously but he also has a great sense of humor. Hes definitely one of the best.

Such a phenomenal shop. The word “shop” should not be used though. You get a different feel when you enter Monster Ink over any other tattoo shop I have been to before. It is more of a spa/boutique feel. It is a very welcoming, no hassle, judgement free place. All of the staff at Monster Ink are very friendly and very talented. 10 year daughter who has been begging for her ears pierced but I know her all too well. The pain was not going to be what she saw on YouTube. It was tough on her but TJ is honestly reaaaaally great. He was funny, kind, patient, and relaxed. Sanitation was a priority in every step. Earrings sanitized, hands sanitized. Gloves worn. New gloves when my daughter requested more “cold”. All the artists there were soooo kind to my daughter. It’s expensive but it’s worth it.Thaaaaaank you TJ!!!

Today was my third time being tattooed at Monster Ink, and everytime has been great. I have two by Taylor, and today I was tattooed by Hayden. Everyone there has been very professional, accommodating, and safe. Thanks for the beautiful work!!

Do not use this place for piercings, especially for kids. I took my 10 year old to get her ears pierced in Feb 2022 and in one ear they pierced it so low and at an angle that the piercing has now split her ear lobe in half requiring her to get stitches to repair it. Monster Ink will not refund my money.

Came to monster ink on a recommendation and by far did they deliver, they have one of the cleanest shops around.Matthew Glick did a phenomenal job with a back piece I’m starting, Can’t wait for my second appointment. I highly recommend this shop for its quality, people, atmosphere, and professionalism.

Instead of like Claires, this place has top notch piercing jobs. They pierce your ears with a sterilized needle and when youre done, you get an actual saline solution. This place is where you wanna go when you are getting something pierced!

They have been the one and only place Ive been pierced by, TJ is an awesome guy and very knowledgeable, he is also one of the few APP members in the area, if they dont have a piece you want, theyve always been more than happy to order a custom piece for me, the tattoo artists have all seemed to be happy working there, and have done awesome pieces, Ive only had one tattoo done there, by Travis, and i absolutely love it, if you want anything more macabre, hes the guy Id go to for it!
