Dark Heart Tattoo

I cannot rave enough about Dark Heart! We have taken both of my daughters for their ears and today, I had some piercings done myself. Every single time has been seamless with making an appt, picking out jewelry and the piercing itself! They do a great job of really explaining the process and making sure you go home with what you need for successful healing… but the BEST part of Dark Heart are the people who work there! Every single person we have encountered has been extremely kind and professional. I will always continue to use them and recommend them for any piercings!

Ive had MULTIPLE tattoos done here & absolutely love every single one. The owner, Joe, is absolutely incredible at what he does. He takes time to fully understand exactly what youre looking to get done. He takes his time creating the pieces & perfecting stencil placement. I love this shop so much. All the employees are also extremely talented & informative with their specialties!!

I absolutely love this place! In about March, 2024, Eva pierced both my nipples & my philtrum in one session. She is awesome and does a fantastic job! Just went in today to get downsized. Daemon switched everything out perfectly. They both are amazing at creating a safe space for everyone who walks through the door. Everyone that works here is so kind and its clear that they love what they do. If youre looking for good quality, professional work, where everyone is welcome especially, this is the place to go!

My daughters (6 & 7) got their ears tandem pierced by Hales and Eva recently. They fully explained the entire process to them, practiced breathing with them, and waited until they were fully ready until they pierced. They were super sweet and patient with them as my daughters were both nervous. I’m super thankful we chose to go the shop route and that we picked dark heart!

I had the pleasure of working with Rachel Garrison. She Tattooed a beautiful Phoenix on my right leg. Through 3 long sessions it was an amazing experience to get tattooed by Rachel. Not only is he art beautiful but she kept me super comfortable the entire process. 10/10 she rock!

Had an excellent experience at this shop. Easy booking and check in. Clean and professional space. Cool vibe. My artist Rachel was the best! She took the time to listen to the story behind my tattoo and came up with the greatest artwork. Couldnt be happier. Already have scheduled another session.

Dark Heart is a fantastic studio. Everyone who works there is super cool and friendly and the cleanliness is top notch. I had an outstanding experience on a half sleeve with AJ, who is the absolute best. Communicative, collaborative, and exceedingly talented, AJ took my idea and made magic. She went above and beyond to keep me comfortable during a marathon session, and the end result is stunning. 10/10 experience from start to finish. I would absolutely recommend AJ and Dark Heart for your next tattoo.

Couldn’t have had a better experience. my daughter has been begging to have her ears pierced for months but was still apprehensive. TJ made the experience effortless. She didn’t even cry, it was quick, placement perfect. She is so happy with her ears and has a new found confidence walking around flipping her hair 🤣 wouldn’t recommend anyone better!

Paid mark $100 3 weeks ago to secure an appointment. never heard back from him, and i’ve emailed several times. would not recommend this place based on how difficult it is to get your money back for a service you never received!

Having gotten both tattoos and piercings here, I cant recommend this place enough. Everyone is knowledgeable and friendly. The place is very clean and modern - you dont have to worry about safety at all! The staff is incredibly talented. All their work is top quality. My artist is Marky but I love everyones work. I cant say enough good things about Dark Heart.

I took my 8 year old daughter here to get her ears pierced. She was extremely nervous and almost didn’t even go inside but once there, the staff put her mind at ease. They explained exactly what they were doing and made silly jokes to help ease her nerves. They did a fantastic job and I would recommend this place 100%!

SUPER clean, SUPER friendly, SUPER knowledgeable, and SUPER kind. I wish i could give 10 stars! I brought 2 of my daughters to get piercings, 1 got both lobs, and the other got a helix. Both of them are a bit phobic of needles, but they both REALLY wanted the piercings. From picking the jewelry to prepping them for what was to come all the way through to the after-care, the staff was sooooo great with my girls! They both went to bed with the biggest smiles and I got BIG hugs tonight! Thank you Dark Heart, we WILL be back!

This place is just an awesome place to go, whether you get a tattoo or get a piercing (s). They are knowledgeable, friendly, professional, highly skilled, and the environment is relaxing and welcoming. I highly recommend Dark Heart Tattoo. And it is located in beautiful Crystal Lake. Within walking distance of delicious restaurants, and coffee places, etc.

I got my first tattoo done here by Chelsea, and she had come up with a luna moth design for me. She was super patient and awesome. I wasn’t being the ideal client because I was getting my sternum done but none the less, Chelsea was talking me through it and keeping me comfortable. Was also making conversation with the other artists while I was getting tattooed! I had a great experience and the tattoo turned out amazing. Dark Heart has a truly unique feeling as a tattoo shop. It’s the most welcoming place I’ve been to!

I’ve been going here since 2017 when I turned 18. This will always be my favorite shop. I moved out of the country but still make it a point to try to find a way to book with my favorite artist (Cait). She is incredible and so nice to talk to. I have tattoos by the other artists as well and I really appreciate the work. I also have my septum and my eyebrow done by TJ. I had my belly button but that didn’t work out (not his fault). I love going to get pierced by them or my jewelry adjusted etc because everyone involved in the piercing section is very very kind.

I have been both tattooed and pierced at Dark Heart recently. The shop is clean and the staff create such a welcoming environment. Haley was my piercer and she was extremely friendly and professional through the whole service. Her placement was perfect for the piercings I got done! Chelsea was my tattoo artist and she also was extremely friendly and did an amazing job. I gave her a few general ideas of what I was looking for and she brought my vision to life!

Dark heart tattoo is the literal best place to go for piercings or tattoos. Everyone that works there is so incredibly nice and easy to talk to. I’ve gotten a tattoo done by Ashley and I couldn’t have been happier and she was able to touch it up for me no problem when needed. I was so grateful to go to her for a tattoo in memory of my grandma. Moving onto piercings, I’ve gotten about 9 piercings there within the last year mostly completed by TJ and I genuinely have the best experience every damn time. TJ has such a cool personality and is so easy to work with, and they’re amazing when it comes to aftercare and needing to downsize piercings. If you get a piercing there you can always go back with any issues and they are so amazingly helpful. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for my piercing and tattoo needs. Thanks for being the absolute best shop I’ve ever been to! 12/10 recommend.

Seriously everyone here is so nice and professional yet down to earth. Not one person had a bad attitude here. Kyle was my tattoo artist and he did an amazing job! He was fun thru the whole session and took the time to continue to rework my design until I was happy with it. He put my mind at ease since I was a little nervous; didnt even hurt. Best experience! Im glad I found this little gem and I will definitely be referring everyone here and coming back myself.P.S. The price was spot on, so kudos to Dark Heart for being an honest company with honest employees♡

I do not have enough words to express how happy I was with my Tattoo. My artist was Rachel Garrison. She was responsive when I first inquired and she was quick to follow up with all my questions. She was booked pretty solid so I had to wait a couple months for an appointment. I had no problem with this and my instinct was spot on because she was amazing. She sat down and we went over the pictures and the sketch. I was getting a picture of a pet I recently lost. I have not gotten a tattoo in years and Rachel made me feel perfectly comfortable. As she was working she would stop and look at what she was doing and smile like she was really enjoying the way it was turning out. In the end it turned out better than I had envisioned in my wildest dreams. Rachel treated me with respect and empathy and I cannot thank her enough. All of the staff was very nice and the location in Crystal Lake was clean and comfortable. This was my first Tattoo from Rachel but will not be my last. The picture is right after she finished. It looks even better a few days later.

Cait is such a kindhearted and talented tattoo artist who will make sure you’re doing alright throughout the sesh. Couldn’t be more thankful to have her art on my body! The whole staff is extremely talented and I will always recommend this place when people ask me where to get tatted.

This was mine and my girlfriends first time here and we worked with AJ who could not have been nicer, more helpful, or accomodating for us. This was my first tattoo and my girlfriends eighth and she was super approachable for us both. Explained everything to us equally answered any questions we had. She explained our after care very thoroughly and made sure to let us know if we had issues we could reach out to her with additional questions. Although this was my first, it will not be my last work AJ as my tattoo artist.Pictured: I got a golf tee and girlfriend got edelweiss.

Overall fine experience getting tattooed, but the artist I saw told me I could contact her any time to get a color touch up for free, but did not respond to messages or phone calls to the shop for me to try and schedule.

Absolutely loved it from the second I walked in and felt like I was on an episode of Sabrina the teenage witch (r.i.p.) Super moody goth vibes . Our artist was very kind and professional.

A friend and I have gotten MULTIPLE piercings at Dark Heart, from TJ and Haylee!! Would recommend them to everyone - from the person getting their first piercing all the way to those that are seasoned to piercings! I love that they tell you the TRUTH, not just looking for the next dollar. Haley and TJ have pierced all three of my daughters ears. They go through each step of the process making sure the child is comfortable and ready. I recommend them to all my friends and will only go to them for any future piercings.

TJ was amazing! Our daughter wanted her ears pierced and when we asked our friends for recommendations, TJ was the only name they stated. He is great with kids! His bedside manner was awesome. Tj was very descriptive and the whole process was relatively quick. He prepared our kiddo for what to expect, practiced and did the job without any issues. I want to let you know about the pricing. Dont be alarmed. Its like this perfect analogy I heard years ago. A good tattoo aint cheap; a cheap tattoo aint good. Same concept. If you want a worthwhile piercing, dont go to a kid to get the job done... go to the professional who is licensed. We couldnt be happier with his meticulousness!! Highly recommended!!

I got my septum stretched as well as a daith piercing done by claire today and they were amazing!! they let me know every little detail of the process and made sure i was comfortable the whole time. huge shout out to claire for amazing customer service and making the process so simple!

Got my belly pierced wednesday jan 31st and it was extremely crooked i called to ask for a refund but they seem to not care one bit. they said only thing they could do was redo it but one why would i trust they would do it correct way a SECOND time. secondly when i called she tried to blame me for “having my hands in the way”, wouldn’t let me speak all because she was offended by her own work. Never going to this place again. Terrible service Terrible people terrible piercings.

This was my first time at Dark Heart and I can easily say this wont be the last! TJ was incredibly helpful in making sure I could get my septum piercing and went as far as to make sure to check while I was waiting which I definitely appreciate. Id rather be told bad news while waiting instead of being in the chair. We had no complications with the piercing and yall; he is so incredibly personable, professional, and just a genuinely great person! I can easily say that my septum was one of my least painful piercings! Also, thank you to the wonderful woman who answered my calls and gave me genuine, honest responses. One of the most easiest, breeziest, and the best experiences Ive had! Thank you! Also; all the bat taxidermy? Beautiful! Im jealous 😂

Super clean, friendly shop! Always feel welcome when I come in. Chelsea has done quite a few of my tattoos and is amazing! She listens to what you want and is super patient. She checks in with you often to make sure you are comfortable during the appointment! I love all my work by her! I just took my 6 year old for tandem lobe piercings. What a fabulous experience. My daughter has been waiting for so long to have hers done. TJ made her feel comfortable from start to finish. I was tattooed by Dani last October and I couldn’t be happier with my experience at Dark Heart in Crystal Lake. The shop itself is very clean and there’s tons of cool flash and art decorating the walls. Everyone I interacted with before my appointment was super nice and made you feel right at home. I had gotten a flash piece from one of Dani’s flash sheets and her work is immaculate. It looks just as great as it did when it was fresh. She really does everything to make sure you feel safe and comfortable throughout your tattoo experience. As a healthcare worker, I also really appreciated the fact that they still have a mask policy in place. They just want to make sure the clients, as well as the tattooers themselves are protected. All in all, you really can’t go wrong with any of the tattooers at this shop depending on your personal tattoo style preference. I highly recommend Dark Heart to anyone!

I was searching for a new artist and came across the shop & I’m so glad I did. I’ve only been to Chelsea but everyone there puts out good work & is professional. Chelsea is amazing and I am so glad I found her! I LOVE every tattoo she’s done for me & will be back for more. She is someone who genuinely cares about the quality of work she’s putting out and that her client is getting what they want, I’ve seen it first hand.I would absolutely recommend her and the shop to anyone looking.Also everyone has always been friendly, shop is clean & prices totally reasonable.

My husband and I were in town for the holidays and really wanting tattoos, so we emailed Dark Heart about scheduling availability. Unfortunately, they were booked pretty solid, however Joe informed us he had a cancelation and could accommodate us the following day.We arrived and Joe was a consummate professional and a super talented artist. He first did our matching and simple tattoos my husband and I wanted, and then he did my more intricate nature/tree/tribal half sleeve on my forearm. He took the general images I sent him and created a masterpiece on my arm.Joe is truly an amazing tattoo artist, and Ive received nothing but compliments on my sleeve tattoo. We definitely plan on going back to Dark Heart Tattoo for more work in the future.

This is the best tattoo shop in the greater Chicagoland area. They are the only shop I trust with my skin. Joe put an absolute banger on the back of my head with a broken wrist. Only place I’ll get tattooed.

I came in as a walk in the other day with a request to get a tattoo that I had drawn out. No one was available at the time but Joe came in from home to get me in. I am over the moon with the results. He was so nice and helped clean up my drawing before tattooing. I am so appreciative, thank you to all of dark heart for taking me in and helping me so much with this tattoo.

Ive had a few rough experiences in a tattoo shop however this was anything but. Everyone in the shop was so nice and I couldnt be happier. Rachel is amazing and so personable and I can honestly say Ill never go to another artist. I got a couple very meaningful tattoos done that I absolutley love. 10/10 will recommend this place to anyone!

Great shop - had a poor experience with one of their artists, Alex O.Started working on a sleeve with him and I would book full days. Every appointment after the first became shorter and shorter. To the point where I’d book a full day and he’d tell me we’re done 3 hours in. Mind you, it’s a 2 hour drive one way for me.Very frustrated, I decided to finish my sleeve with another artist. Talked to a few before making a decision and they all told me he would book the full day and cut to a half because he makes more from that, feel very stupid for not catching it as I’d tip him 20-30% every time.Anyway, reached out to him for a touch up on one of his pieces (was going to pay for it) and he blocked me lol. No reason other than I’d assume he thought I wanted something for free…Left this review on their FB and they blocked me…Poor business practices that support ripping off their clients.Stay away from this shop and Alex.

I went to TJ at Dark Heart Tattoo in Rockford, IL. for my nose piercing. The shop was not only clean but everyone there was super welcoming. I recommend you take a look at TJ’s social media, there you will see what a pristine job he does on all of his piercings. He takes great pride in his work and it shows. This is the first piercing that I haven’t had any issues with. He was efficient, clean and made the whole experience enjoyable. I will never get pierced by anyone else! Not to mention all of his jewelry is top notch! Highly recommended! 10/10!

TJ did my double nostril about a month ago. He was quick, and there was little to no pain. I would go to him again if I wanted another piercing. Everyone, including the person at the front, was nice and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend this shop

I found Rachel right before Covid hit and when I was finally able to get tattooed by her I was blown away. Rachel is an incredibly talented artist, a well of knowledge, and just overall an amazing person. She’s tattooed me twice and the quality of her work compared to my other tattoos, makes me wish I found her way sooner in life when I started my tattoo journey. She’s a client for life with me and I will gladly follow her wherever she goes to keep getting tattooed.The new shop is amazing as well!! The aesthetic of the shop, vibe, and how friendly everyone is is just overall wonderful.I can’t wait to have “tea at high noon “ with Rachel.

Dark heart tattoo has become one of my favorite places! The staff is amazing, and the place is clean and unique! I have gotten multiple tattoos done by Dani, she is amazing! I will absolutely always go back here for my work, Joe is the only one I trust to take my random ideas and somehow replicate them perfectly as art, and then translate that perfectly on my skin. Shop vibe is friendly and laid back, I would never be afraid of being judged or looked down on here.

She took a small photo I had and teased out the intricate detail of the photo and delivered a great looking tattoo. 5 stars doesnt seem like enough. I was so incredibly happy getting my first tattoo here. Marky was amazing. I thought I had a decent idea going in but he really helped me perfect what I wanted and the end result completely blew me away. Better than I had imagined it would be. He was so patient and helpful and I will never go to anyone else for future work. The process was long and he checked in a lot to make sure I was doing alright. Overall a really comfortable experience. The shop in general has a great vibe, super clean, and everyone seems awesome. Cant wait to come back for more work!

My mom, aunt and I went in to get matching butterflies. We got them to honor our family members who have passed. Most of them very tragically and way too young. Weve done butterfly releases in the past to raise money for charity in their honors so this was something that was very close to us. Our tattoo artist (Kyle) was unbelievably insensitive and kept saying how much he hates butterfly tattoos and will never do another one again. Even to the point of shouting over me to a tattoo artist 2 chairs away how much he hates them. Then a tattoo artist came over to check it out. Same thing they both talked about how much they hated them. By the time it was my aunts turn (she went last) I had excused myself to go wait out in the car because I was so hurt, i couldnt sit there any longer. . Something that was so meaningful to us was just balked at and made fun of for 6 hours. Its was so insensitive. Also said he was going to redo my stencil because it was too large for my liking. He said I would lose some shading and detail and I was totally fine with that. He was going to reprint the stencil, let it dry and while it drying he was going to go next door to get a sandwich then he be back to start. None of that happened he just started tattooing. Ive been trying to find a place to get some self harm scars covered up but this is not a place I would ever feel comfortable being in that setting again with something that is so personal.The redeeming thing was my septum piercing with TJ. I squirmed a lot by accident when he put the needle through. Kind of uncontrollably. He was super cool about it. Didnt say anything negative to me. Thanks TJ!

BEST tattoo shop around. My husband has been getting tattooed by Joe for over 10 years, and I have been tattooed here by multiple people over the last few years. Everyone is awesome. Their talent is unmatched. The shop is METICULOUSLY clean, and all artists are professional. They are great at small little pieces, and large custom ones. We have never been disappointed.

The shop is beautiful, clean and welcoming. The new location is even better. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone. Always a great experience. I’ve traveled from Arizona twice to this tattoo shop. First time I visited, I showed up a day early (my fault) but the shop & my artist was able to squeeze me in that day! :) Second time around I had the same great experience! Everyone is so kind & welcoming! Definitely visiting again soon!

Walked in for a nose piercing change. Waiting area was awesome. Jewelry selection was better than average. Prices were great!! Waiting time was minimal on a Saturday afternoon. Place was hopping and yet a very comfortable atmosphere. Will investigate artists to get next tat there.:)

I have had great experiences with both Joe and Chelsea at Dark Heart Tattoo. Ive known Joe since he first started out and Ill keep in coming to him and his shop. Very professional and clean, never any issues with healing and touch ups. I have always had them design my custom pieces and I could be more happy with the outcome! Highly recommended!

Ok I have never made a review before but I have gotten over 10 healed or healing piercings 2 of which r from Haley and she was so kind and talked to me through the whole experience and asked me before hand if I liked the placement and allowed me to move it if I wanted to.. and she over all gave me an absolute amazing experience and I’ve also gotten a bunch by tj who is also amazing!!

I went there to have them help me with my nose piercing that was semi closed up and the ring was stuck in my nose. TJ was so friendly and welcoming and had it removed and reinserted in less than 90 seconds. I was so afraid it would be extremely painful since I couldnt get it out myself and he had it fixed and I didnt feel a thing. He also didnt charge me because he said he just wants to make sure people dont hurt themselves trying to fix piercings. 10/10 would recommend and will recommend.

I came in for a tattoo with Marky yesterday. The experience and service was excellent and Im in love with the tattoo! Its exactly what I was hoping for! Everyone there was very kind and helpful! I will be back for my next tattoo for sure! They hands down give the best tattoosaround! We drive over three hours to get our tattoos! Super clean, they follow all the health guidelines to keep you from getting infections. I always have people say WOW who did your tattoo! We go to Joe and Chelsea, but honestly anyone there is great!

TJ is one of the best men in his field, he’s always made sitting in his chair feel like a sense of home. His services are flawless and we even get a few chuckles in! Every piercing I’ve gotten from him has healed with ease with his steri-wash ! Dark heart has a great atmosphere and amazing artists in both fields! I’d recommend taking a trip and make an appointment! You pay for a quality body modification that you’ll be loving on you for a long time! :)

I frequent the shop to get tattooed by Dani and every time I’ve been there all the staff has been nothing but kind and welcoming. Dark heart is a super welcoming and safe space and i cannot express how much of a good time it is every time I’m there to get work done. I came to Dark Heart to get my nipples pierced. This was my second time getting them done. TJ was incredibly professional and made me feel comfortable through conversation and his comedic sense of humor. About a week or so into having the piercing, I came to conclusion that the bar was too small for my body. TJ allowed me to come back and get an elongated bar free of charge and even swapped them out for me for free. I would recommend dark heart to anyone and everyone.

Dark Heart has a wonderful atmosphere and the staff is very attentive. Inviting and unique style. I drove 3 hours to be pierced by the mustached legend himself. Tj is truly a professional in the piercing field. Extremely clean, quick, and easy. I was even offered a popsicle afterwards as well as free aftercare solution. 10/10 would let stab again.

Dani did what is now my favorite tattoo for me back in February! She did an amazing job and was very accommodating during my whole visit there and was great about checking in during my session! All staff members were great, shop was super clean, all together a great experience.

TJ did my nipple piercings and made the whole process so easy, and as comfortable as possible. He took time to explain everything very thoroughly and eased my mind before getting started. I had 2 four hour long sessions with Joe and have never had a better experience getting tattoed! The staff was all very friendly and so helpful. Joe himself was so awesome; he made me laugh a lot which was a nice changeup from my usual casual conversation Ive had at other tattoo shops. He made sure I was comfortable and frequently asked how I was doing and if I needed a break. The tattoo Joe gave me was so brilliantly done! My sister and I both have gotten work done here and will surely be returning!

This shop was referred to me by a coworker from 5 years ago. I started my own sleeve with the owner, Joe, back in 2019. He worked with me to make my vision come true. We completed my sleeve over the course of two years, and about 4 sessions about 4-6 hours in length. The artists all specialize in different styles. The shop is clean, and their logo is dope. Highly recommend to anyone in Lake/McHenry county- and they’ve got a shop in Chicago now. Check em out.

TJ is fantastic! I got my septum pierced by him a few weeks ago and the whole experience was wonderful. He is very friendly, made sure to explain each step as he went, and made sure that I was comfortable the whole time. Won’t be going to anyone else for future piercings!

Went to Dark Heart Tattoo last night with my Dad and had one of the best experiences ever!We called beforehand and spoke with Ashley. She was very friendly on the phone and informed us it was a first come first serve basis. Luckily when we arrived, no one else was in line so we were able to see her right away.My Dad and I showed her what we wanted and she began work right away. Ashley came up with ideas to enhance the look of our tattoos. She gave us both a unique shading to make our tattoos appear more life like; something my Dad and I would not have thought of ourselves.Throughout the time of our stay, Ashley was kind, informative and kept us laughing. One of the most impressive things about her was after she completed my tattoo and started my Dad’s, a pizza came in that was ordered by a coworker for them to share. My Dad offered for her to take a break to enjoy a slice, she said she would finish the tattoo before doing so. Ashley continued to work on his tattoo without rushing it or complaining of hunger. Ashley was certain to make sure we were both satisfied with our tattoos. Not only does that show extreme mental fortitude, working very hard with pizza at stake, but also wonderful customer service!!Thank you so much Ashley for making a memory of getting a tattoo with my Dad so special! The shop is very clean and the atmosphere is laid back but professional. Rachel did a tattoo for me and my husband. The story behind our tattoos are very special to us both. My husband did some sketches and Rachel listened to our story and came up with perfect tattoos that fit us both. I am ELATED with Dark Heart Tattoo!!! Not only was the shop easy to find, it was spotless inside, and everyone that Ive spoken with has been down to Earth, professional and knowledgeable. They all seem to have a genuine love for their trade! I had my piece done by Mark and it is now hands down my favorite tattoo! He packed an incredible amount of detail in a small space and the heavy line work is utterly perfect. I would give them more than 5 stars all around if I could.

Got my tattoos done by Rachel. Felt rushed, up charged and I’ve spoken with a few of her clients who have had this issue. I felt like my recommendations about my tattoo were not taken. Left with very sloppy work that isn’t finished and I’m embarrassed of them

Made an appointment for a friend and I. Thought the artists work looked great from what I saw on social media. A friend actually recommended me here. Less than an hour before the appointment, he canceled and we were already at the shop. He asked me to come in the next day, I couldnt but my friend was able too. Then then canceled on her too. He tried to make it better by offering a discount, even to do mine for free, but at that point its not worth it, cause how do I know this wont happen again? Sorry. First impressions are everything.

I went in just shopping for an artist to do some Celtic designs. I found the shop very welcoming, clean, and had a positive vibe. After I talked about what I was looking for, I was introduced to Kyle Gibbs. I explained what I was looking for in an artist to create tattoos from my ideas. When I showed him a tattoo design based on my Irish Name written in Ogham (Celtic) he wanted to do it right then. We talked all during the tattoo session. He was great. The line work is spot one. I am very impressed with his work. He will be the artist to do the remainder of my Celtic designs.

Ive been to many places getting tattoos for 7 years and I think Ive finally found a home. Chuy gave me a pretty awesome tattoo yesterday and I highly recommend him. They all seem like nice, very talented people. I read some of the bad reviews (theres not many) and they all complain about price which is bogus because they are very affordable for GOOD work. And they also complain about the artist doing their own thing. Heres an idea, if you dont want your artist to have free range of their artistic abilities..... use your words and tell them!Highly recommended shop.

Over the moon about my experience today! They take walk ins and give you a nice time estimate to when they can start on you, so in the mean time I got to explore the adorable downtown of Crystal Lake. Extremely well kept, wonderful atmosphere and staff. But I am really here to talk about how wonderful Chuy is. He went above and beyond all my expectations, told him what I wanted and he was able to give me exactly what I envisioned! This tattoo was very special to me and he absolutely nailed it!

I went in with my two sons we got matching tattoos that my one son designed our artist was done with all three in under 3 hrs. He quoted me between 80 and 120. Charged me the 120 felt that 360 was a little high for what we got. I will say that it was a good experience and everyone was very nice and a very clean shop. Just felt like I was over charged. I have several tattoos so I do know what you get for your money.

I went in for a tattoo of my dogs paw print. Ashley was my tattoo artist and she told me it would be perfect. Well it wasn’t. she lied to me and said it would be the exact same paw print as what i gave to her but it’s not. it looks like a standard paw print that they would do all the time. do not ever go to ashley. she just wants the money she doesn’t care what youget done. this tattoo has meant so much tome and she ruined it.

I went to Dark Heart Tattoo for a navel piercing and had a terrific experience. My piercer, Kayce, was amazingly friendly and put me at ease with her apparent expertise. She even gave me her personal phone number so I could contact her anytime with questions, an offer I have taken up more than once. Today I went to get flower tattoo with a name on the stem. The tattoo artist I got was Art Meza and honestly he did such an amazing job I gave him an idea of what I wanted and he did more than I asked. He makes you feel very comfortable and make sure you are satisfied with what you are getting. I’m so happy with the outcome of it.

Walked in to discuss a possible pair of tattoos, I was asked to have a seat and look around. I ended up sitting for a half hour and still hadn’t been seen and in the mean time the receptionist left 15 minutes ago and still hadn’t come back, I would have been more than glad to reschedule an appointment to talk with an artist but no was there to talk to and I wasn’t about to interrupt a tattoo session to talk to someone. I was excited to check this place out, unfortunately I didn’t a have a good experience.

Friendly, positive staff willing to work with any fears. I got to hold a bat plushie while TJ stabbed my nose with his friendly sharp stick. He talked me through all of it and made sure I was regulating my breathing. 10/10 would get stabbed again.

I wanted a tattoo to memorialize my Mom who passed away only a month ago. I was looking through the portfolios and asked if the Rachel they had there.was the same Rachel who used to work in Marengo. Sure enough...it was. Rachel did 4 other tattoos for me so I trusted her work. She didnt let me down. She did great work, as usual for a fair price.Rachel Rocks.

Owners ink work was good but overall a horrible experience. I booked a full half sleeve apt months in advance. Showed him what I wanted and was assured it will look just like it. Quarter of the way done he tells me I’ll have to come back he has his next appt coming in. We argue a bit and continue tatting on time I’ve been waiting months to get. The only thing that looks similar to what I requested and got, was both had a dragon in them. Size, direction, style, surrounding all completely different. I was skeptical when the draft didn’t look exact but he said he’s a professional and it will look just like the picture, just a rough outline. Still only finished half what I requested and we had to end early but n his part. To make matters worse he showed me a back tatto he was working on......exactly the same as the tat he gave me. I searched out this place and drove to hours after waiting several months for a cookie cutter tat that looked nothing like I asked for 👍

I finally got my first tattoo, and Joe did an amazing piece of art on my shoulder. It was exactly what I asked for and I couldnt be happier!!! I would recommend Joe to any one looking to get a tattoo. I am already booking my next one!!

I just want to say that the overall feel and attentiveNess of this shop is great. I was recommended here by a friend. The artist I had was a real nice woman. She was a great artist, loved what she drew up for me. The problem then came in when she tattooed it on me but then added her own creativeness to it without asking. I get that your an artist, but I feel if you add things above and beyond what was okd on the sketch you should ask permission not forgiveness. That is permenant. There is nothing I can do now to take off what she added. I am just an average person paycheck to paycheck who has to save up money to even get a tattoo paying about 100 an hour and then on top tipping a good percentage. It sucks when you spend this money and you are not happy. I could have been spared if she would have just checked in with me before adding her own twist above what was drawn. I only wanted words. Not random shading in between and around those words that now looks like bruises. I had other plans to add more to it later. If she thought it looked bare she could have asked me first and i would have told her no. I love the shop.. I just wish I would have gone with a different artist. Overall I am completely bummed about my tattoo. I hope you have a better expierence.

Do not go here I reached out to one of the artists for me and my friend to get a tattoo and the artist ghosted me! We both payed a $60 deposit (each) and he said he would reach out in late December of 2020 to schedule an appointment and it is now June almost July of 2021. I’ve reached out multiple times and he leaves me on seen each time! He should be fired

I have been searching for a great artist for awhile. Someone who can make what I see in my head come to life and Rachel did exactly that. She literally read my mind! She is one of a kind!! I will definitely be coming back for more in the near future!!!

Facility was nice and clean. Tattoo artist was a jerk. The guy kept pressing so hard that the tattoo gun kept stopping. He didn’t listen to what I wanted as far as detail either. Very disappointed. I read some good reviews and was totally let down.

Set up an appointment with Ashley, and as soon as I saw the design, I loved it, they were accommodating when it came to fitting in an extra character i wanted on the piece, and they were so easy to talk to and made me feel comfortable the entire time, i really cant wait to go back for my next tattoo, i definitely know who Im asking for!
