Julia and her apprentice, Aiva, did such a wonderful job helping you to feel at ease. My piercings turned out beautiful (right conch & left rook) and both ladies were very informative as far as giving a step by step of what they were doing on top of explaining after care. Cannot recommend them enough and will definitely be a return/repeat customer. Another plus, their jewelry is gorgeous!!!

Highly highly recommend Julia if you’re looking to get any sort of piercing!! She is very personable and makes you feel comfortable! She was able to answer any questions I had and the whole set up was very sterile. Both tragus’ and left helix, 10/10 recommend! 😊

Absolutely amazed by Karl’s work. I told him random things I wanted and he created a piece for my leg that I couldn’t possibly love more. He will tell you what works together - give advice. His detail is astounding! He helps you with the aftercare as well. I won’t go to anyone else anymore!

Karl is an amazing artist!! Ive gotten a right arm sleeve, head tattoo, and chest tattoo done by Karl, and his work is amazing! He has solid line work and shading. I fully intend on getting any future work done by Karl!

This was my first time going to Grim River, but the experience couldnt have gone better. From collaborating with my artist on developing the idea for the tattoo before my appointment came, to the day of the tattoo when I was able to see Karl completely in his element bringing what had been just a concept to life and exceeding every expectation for what I had in mind, this experience was purely a positive one. Grim River has two insanely talented tattoo artists, Karl, who I had the pleasure of working with, Calvin, who is so talented and has a style all his own, and they have added an apprentice, Izzy, an incredible artist who is using this opportunity to sharpen her skills and start tattooing as well. Shops like Grim River are few and far between so if youre debating on checking them out, do it! You will not be disappointed.

Grim River Tattoo is hands down a five star tattoo shop. The artists are great to work with and the tattoos are top tier. Would recommend to all my friends!

My experience at Grim River has been nothing but great! Karl and Kalvin, the best two artists you can find around town. When getting tattooed they definitely keep you entertained because they roast another and its just hilarious.About the artists, Karl puts extreme time and effort into each one of his pieces. Meanwhile, Kalvins main focus is anime tattoos. If you give Kalvin a slice of Falbos pizza, it sparks his internal flame of creativity and he will whip up a stellar design faster than how Madara destroyed the Shinobi alliance.

I cannot speak highly enough about Izzy. She has done a few pieces for me and I couldn’t be happier. Her work speaks for itself but on top of that she is easy to work with and just a chill person. I actually connected her with my wife and they are working on some things as well. I have the say the shop as a whole is a great place to do business with. All the employees are engaging and you can tell they all care about what they do. Definetly check them out if you are looking for a tattoo or piercing.

I just got this awesome ghostface tattoo done by Izzy Mejia! This was a great experience and they had such a great atmosphere there. Highly recommend anyone wanting to get a tattoo this is the place to come! Definitely a 5 Star review for a 5 Star Establishment!

I came in there with an idea of what I wanted and Katie came up with an amazing design that was better than I would have ever thought of. After about 6 weeks one of the colors wasnt quite right and Katie had me come back and she made it right. She is an amazing talent. Kalvin is awesome! Ive gotten two tattoos done by him, and hes so easy to work with. Easy to get a hold of, responsive, and happy to work with you to make sure you get something youre happy with. He pays attention to detail, and goes above and beyond any expectations I had for both of my tattoos. Im in love with his work and will happily continue to drive three hours to get work done by him. Hes passionate and it shows. 😊

This was my first time at Grim River and the experience was wonderful. I got two fine-lined tattoos done by Izz, who was very welcoming, respectful, and professional throughout the entirety of the appointment. I was definitely nervous going in because it was my first tattoo, but she made me feel comfortable and at ease the whole time. Definitely looking forward to getting more work done by her! :)

Karl did a great job! I was recommended by a friend and was impressed. I wont be going back to any other studio, Karl will definitely be doing my tattoos from now on. Julia was fantastic! I got my nose pierced at Grim River Tattoo last month and it has healed beautifully. Julia has a very calming energy which helped tremendously since I was a little nervous. She talked me through every step which helped put me at ease. This shop is very clean and comfortable. I live out of town but can’t wait to make the trip for another piercing soon!

Been following Karls work for 5 years and I finally set up an appointment with him. Awesome experience, Karl is the man, only maybe beaten by Kalvins good looks. This image is just the start of a sleeve, and from time wizard to the 2 wolves it was fun to work with Karl and watch him hand draw the wolves from many reference images he also drew up. Amazing artist and can’t wait to get back there.

Best tattoo experience to date! Went in for first time great atmosphere and fun vibe. Started off anime leg sleeve with Kalvin, love the work he’s done. Kalvin took my ideas and created beautifully drawn art with even more amazing execution. And Karl (the other artist) was very welcoming and hospitable as well. Both made the process as painless as possible with good banter and tv to watch. Haha Definitely recommend this shop for great art work and awesome hospitality!

Absolutely the best tattoo experience I could ask for. Karl was super cool, down to earth, and really took his time. He was okay with making changes to the artwork (big change) and didn’t make me feel guilty. Prices are more than fair. Wouldn’t go anywhere else!

This was my first tattoo and Izzy was awesome to work with! I don’t have much experience with tattoos but she made it super easy and dealt with the scar she was tattooing over like a champ. I had a great experience and would definitely come back and get my second tattoo here!

I live 2 hours away and am surrounded by many artists but still choose to make the drive because there’s some level of trust that goes into letting someone put a permanent marking on you. Karl does amazing work, I’ve been going to him for 10 plus years. Highly recommend. The shop is very nice and comfortable!

Karl is a great artist but I would STRONGLY consider not using him as he make promises he cant fulfill and ditches you with half done tattoo after back and forth x 6 months and $300 tip!!! Sat for 7.5 hours with 1 bathroom break and no conversation. CAN NOT RECCOMEND!

Every single employee was extremely fun to talk to and it really made the whole experience that much better. Kalvin is fantastic! He has done my last 5 tattoos and each one turned out better than I could have ever imagined! My last tattoo is a memorial tattoo for my brother. I sent kalvin a general idea of what I wanted and asked him to use his imagination! He did not disappoint! My tattoo turned out far better than I could have ever imagined!

I took my dad here for his first tattoo and he got a hand drawn one of a kind tattoo. He was so pleased with how it came out and is now thinking about coming back to get a sleeve done. The waiting area is comfortable with coffee and tea available. The artist was very welcoming and made my dad feel comfortable despite him being afraid of needles. 10/10 would recommend.

I can’t say enough good things about Grim River Tattoo! Very personable and easy going staff. The tattoo turned out better than I imagined! I’m very selective when it comes to my tattoos and artists, but I have to say I’ll definitely be back. Karl made a custom tattoo for me which was essentially a Heikegani crab with a video game character’s face on the shell (Thane Krios). I tend to be super squirmish when getting a tattoo but Karl was so patient and cool the whole time. I love the final product as well. I have been getting so many complements on the tattoo from complete strangers! My wife even complemented the tattoo and called it a work of art! I may even consider flying out to Iowa just to get tattooed by him in the future (I’m from the DMV area)
