Chris did an amazing job on my mothers last handwriting. She passed in December, and this was the last thing she wrote before cancer took my beautiful mommy. I see it every day. I know she is with me. Thank you Chris the tattoo was just how it was written. Very talented man and the shop is beautiful and clean. I didnt even feel it. This didnt hurt at all compared to my other tats. He made me very comfortable and talked about this beforehand and discussed color and shading.

Chris Thayer did my first tattoo and it turned out amazing. He made me feel comfortable and was super patient with me. My overall experience here was amazing and am definitely going back for my second one !!

Had my 2nd appt with Chris Jr and I can’t stop looking at my tattoo! He’s super talented, listened to what I wanted, recommended colors and was very gentle. The studio is beautiful and clean. Great atmosphere. I’ve got my next appt scheduled , totally worth my almost 2 hour drive to see him!

THE best place to get tattoo. Place is clean and staff is friendly and insightful. Worth the 2 hour drive! Saw Chris for a portrait and my god it’sa copy and paste of the photo I wanted. Would highly recommend.

Buz is that dude. Been going to him since my 2nd tattoo and wont be going to anyone else. Since the very first session Buz has done everything to make the vists as comfortable as possible. Healing times have been way shorter than expected, everything has held up perfectly, and Buz has always been very patient with my ideas and helping me work them out better with regards to placement, design, etc. His years of experience really show through every step of the way.The shop is nice and comfortable, everyone there has been friendly and polite when Ive interacted with them. Parking is easy, getting there is easy.

Chris Thayer has an amazing shop here. Custom work, great vibe, really reasonable prices for the work youre getting. He did a portrait of my grandmother as judge Judy. I love the creativity and just easy day to hangout and get tattooed.

Katie. What can I say. PERFECT work. Unbelievable straightness. She is a Master of her art. This was my first time here after seeing the amazing quality my daughter received,there was no other option. The artwork on display from their artist is definitely top shelf and Im sure anyone of the Small family of artists there would give you something you never imagined on skin. I am so very pleased with my new tattoo! Katies design really felt like she had pulled my idea right out of my head and inked it exactly as Id imagined it on my skin. I cant stop looking at it!The shop is clean, and I liked the decoration and airiness of the waiting room/area, less of a gritty, smoky old school feel than Ive been to before, and it was refreshing. It was nice that Katie had her own room too. I saw firsthand how careful she was about making sure she changed gloves, washed hands,sanitized etc. Katie doesnt rush, but takes her time and is very thorough. Shes chill about it if you ask for little things to be tweaked. Prices are good, and quality is great! Ill definitely be coming back.

I have been going to skull and rose for over a year now. Have had nothing but a great experience working with Chris and brining my visions to reality. Chris has performed three amazing coverups for me as well as adding new pieces. I have been tattooed at several shops and have never felt as welcomed and comfortable as I do at skull and rose. The artwork by all the artists are amazing.

I have brought both of my daughters here and will not go anywhere else for tattoos. The entire staff is friendly and professional. The shop is super clean and classy. Chris is exceptionally talented and artistic. Beautiful experience every time.

Our family would like to express how humble & grateful we are to Chris Sr. at Skull and Rose Studio. After a nightmare (understatement) experience at a shop in Rising Sun. Chris Sr. has made my Daughter smile once again, gain her confidence back, and actually want another piece of art work to express herself. We had gone to a so called shop in Rising Sun on my Daughters 18th birthday. She was so excited as this was her first tattoo experience, and was supposed to be a milestone memory. Unfortunately it was a memory she would want to forget. The picture below is what she left with, that took from sun up to sun down, unsanitary is a understatement, and completely unprofessional. She went home and cried for days. She was so embarrassed to even show this to anyone, and lost her self esteem in the process along with all trust in tattoo artists. That is.. untill Chris Sr. heard our situation and made my Daughter smile again, and now her tears were happy tears! He did this cover up and knocked it out the park! Not only do we owe him our whole hearted respect, and gratitude. We will forever be indebted, as you have made my Daughters experience what it should have been from the very beginning. Your professionalism, artistic abilities, and overall genuine concern to make this right, will forever be treasured. My recommendation for this company and the talented artists there is off the charts! Thank you Chris Sr! We will be booking again soon!

Chris just did my very first tattoo and I absolutely love it. If youre feeling anxious, dont. The entire environment is friendly and relaxed. He listened to exactly what I wanted and made sure I was happy. It took THREE hours to travel to him and that alone should tell you how good he is. Its on your body forever. Id make the trip again without question. If you want it right.... call Chris. I will.

I cannot recommend Mariam enough!! It was my first tattoo and I felt so safe and comfortable. She let me know the whole process and I felt educated the entire time. Would definitely travel to see her again! Her work is beautiful and she’s so friendly and kind! Very fair prices for amazing work.

You really can’t get any better than this spot . Every time I have an appointment with Katie , I just feel like I’m catching up with an old friend who just so happens to be inking incredible artwork on my skin . Ive been looking for a nice atmosphere for my first professional tattoo.I got that and more!Chris made me feel comfortable, and answered all my questions...I had a lot.He introduced to me his apprentice who would most likely do mine.Great bedside manner. Completely comfortable on a clean and friendly staff.Now the ink was better than i couldve possibly imagined! I didnt get the hardest thing, but Chris jr. worked his butt off to make my first professional tattoo a masterpiece. Highly recommended. Cant wait for next visit

My experience at skull and rose was fabulous start to finish. This was my first tattoo so I was apprehensive but Katie made me feel at ease. She took her time with the placement and stencil and made sure it was perfect. Katie did such a amazing job, it turned out perfect and I could not be happier. The shop is also beautiful, and extremely clean. I would 100% recommended this shop, and if I get any future tattoos I will be sure to head back to skull and rose to see Katie.

Chris is an amazing artist! The whole experience of getting my first tattoo was incredible and i’m looking forward to coming back and getting another one. He’s very professional, talented, and takes the proper precautions to maintain cleanliness during the process.

Chris and the gang here are thorough, professional, the artwork and quality from the artists is amazing and the place is so clean you could eat off the floor. After going here once its the only shop I would go to for any further ink.. I drive over 3 1/2 hours up and back when I have a session scheduled just to have these guys do my stuff and its always worth the drive.

Absolutely love Mariam! She’s an amazing artist with such a cool art style that has done many of my tattoos. She makes the experience so fun and comfortable and really cares about her clients. 10/10 recommend her!!

I found Mariam through Instagram (@bitteregyptian) and she did my first tattoo ever. It was honestly a wonderful experience, she had great bedside manner even though I was nervous. Would highly recommend even if it means a drive to Maryland.

I got a beautiful tattoo done by Katie, she was super nice and her artwork is very beautiful I really love my new tattoo, I also got an old tattoo redone and she made it look even more beautiful, also the store is very clean with nice decorations everywhere and everyone is very nice, definitely recommend coming here.

Buz Hasson was amazing and I would highly recommend him. He did a custom arm piece with Hebrew script and a floral, watercolor design. The colors are bright but very feminine and flow beautifully through the design.He was very knowledgeable, gentle and wonderful to collaborate with. I am so happy with my tattoo and am grateful for his time, talent and our conversation while in the chair. I will definitely be a return client.

This was my first time at this studio. I was fortunate to walk in shortly after Katie had a cancellation for the same day I had in mind to get the new tatt (my fourth)! Things were truly aligned because she was the artist I had in mind to do the work. I was a little anxious about the whole situation due to COVID, but you can smell that the studio has an active sanitizing protocol in place (props to the owner & staff). Im very pleased with the work Katie did and the shop has a very chill vibe. Ill definitely go back after designing my next tatt! Great job!!

My wife and I got tattooed by Chris Thayer last weekend and he did an outstanding job on both tattoos. I have been tattooed all over the world and the tattoos that come out of skull and rose are top shelf. The shop is clean and people are friendly. If you want a quality tattoo, this is the place and the bathroom wall art is amazing. We shall return.

I have had a few tattoos before hand. Chris was by far one of the most skilled and genuine artists Ive ever met. I will be going here for my next piece. The people I have recommended him too have had just as good as an experience as well.
