Mantis Tattoo and Piercing

Went there with an appointment with my girlfriend and her daughter who was getting her first piercing (belly button). We worked with Coyote Black who couldnt have been a nicer guy. She came in very nervous, but was quickly brought down by our piercer who was very direct but also had a gift for making people more comfortable. It was a quick and relatively painless experience. Though a little on the pricy side, the experience was worth it, the jewelry is of great quality, and he took his time to do his job well. You get what you pay for, highly recommend.

Took my daughter to get her upper ear cartilage pierced . Kate was fantastic! She made both of us comfortable and explained the process step by step. She was so gentle, my kid couldn’t believe the piercing was actually finished when all done. The facility was clean and welcoming. I will absolutely go back when it’s time to get her other ear pierced and when I’m ready for a new tattoo. 10/10

I got my septum piercing done by Kate and she was absolutely amazing. She made sure that I was always okay and comfortable, and she definitely wanted to be sure that I got the right kind of jewelry that I would love. I love my piercing and all the time spent on the color of my jewelry was so worth it because it is so beautiful. I have nothing but compliments!

My experience at Mantis Tattoo and Piercing was initially positive. I got a conch piercing from Kate that was clean and professional from start to finish. Overall, I would recommend her as a piercer. Shes excellent.During a return visit to get an earring back swapped out (something that would have taken only a few minutes) the receptionist was very rude. As soon as I sat down on the couch, she made an annoyed face and bluntly stated that I had to reschedule. Zero apology or explanation. When I asked why, she said it was because I had a minor with me. I was never made aware of this policy; otherwise, I wouldn’t have brought my son into the shop. I respect the policies businesses have and I did not argue with her about it. Rather, my problem was with how my mistake was handled by her. Instead saying “I’m sorry, you might not have been made aware of our policy, but we don’t allow minors in here because…and we will need to reschedule you,” receptionist was rude, unapologetic, and she made me feel so unwelcome.To Kate’s credit, she did her best to rectify the situation when I phoned later. Ultimately, I chose not to reschedule because of the receptionist. There are other tattoo and piercing shops who offer the same services and better customer service than I received at Mantis.

Went to Kate for a septum piercing. She answered all my questions, and explained every step. She checked in at each part of the process to make sure I was comfortable. I told her I wanted the option to flip up my jewelry, and she adjusted the jewelry before piercing to make sure it cleared and that would be possible. It was a fantastic experience. My septum is healing nicely, and Im absolutely thrilled with it. I will absolutely be back!

I’ve been coming here for 10 years since before this location. Artist Tattooers are knowledgeable veteran artists with a super kind customer service. Very clean atmosphere and comfortable vibes. Karlis has done all of my work and Melonie has done all of my wife’s work. We recommend them to anyone friends and family alike.

I got my first four piercings here, and they were incredibly nice. It was the best experience I could have hoped for. I also saw some of the tattoos that they made, and they are beautiful. 10/10 I loved it.

I went yesterday to get my septum pierced by Kate and cant say great enough this about her! Shop is very clean. She answered all of the questions that I had and walked me through the entire process before starting, the piercing itself was also fairly priced. They have a large variety of jewelry to chose from as well. If I need another piercing in the future I fully plan on coming back to Mantis. Thanks Kate!

I went somewhere else for a nose piercing and I got a nasty bump. Called Coyote and they fit me in the day of to switch my jewelry and gave such great advice on how to help the infection. Its already healing way better with the new stud. Would suggest 100% and for future piercings ill be going to Mantis!

Everyone at Mantis is amazing at what they do. Ive seen Karlis, Melanie, Coyote, and Kate and have had a great experience every time! They take Covid precautions pretty seriously, but even before Covid it has always been the cleanest shop around.

I came in for two tiny tattoos. Melanie and Natalie treated me the same way as someone getting a full sleeve.There were several emails about what I wanted, so Melanie was ready when I got there. My tattoos are exactly what I wanted. Natalie answered all my questions and gave me good aftercare instructions.The shop is clean and uses good sanitation practices. Everyone was friendly and professional. Im looking forward to going back for more work!

They were amazing!! I went to go get my second hole jewelry changed and they were gentle, helpful, and friendly. It felt like I was talking to somebody I’ve known for years. The studio itself is so clean and welcoming!

Really great experience with Coyote getting my first nose piercing. The place itself is really clean and nicely decorated, very cozy and comfortable place to be. Coyote was informative and kind, made sure I understood everything that was going on and how the whole process worked. Piercing itself was quick and relatively painless, and the jewelry is very high quality. All in all, I would definitely recommend this place if you want a good piercing!

I absolutely love Kate for piercings! I came to her after a bad situation where another piercer did a horrible job and she was so happy to help fix the problem. She does amazing work as a piercer. Even my daughter whos 13 was very comfortable and happy with Kate for her piercings as well.

I called in 10 minutes before they closed because I lost my septum ring and didn’t want the hole to close, he gladly let me come by and was nice about everything!! Even gave me my new septum ring for free, he said “Merry Christmas”. He was very kind and was pretty speedy with everything as well, will definitely be coming back here for all my piercing needs from now on!

Went in for a tattoo and the first thing I noticed was the atmosphere. Amazing art everywhere and most of it was created by the owner and artists, partitions made of upcycled doors, etc. The kind of atmosphere that puts you at ease if you’re neurospicy. Then I sat for my tattoo with Hale and they were absolutely amazing. My last tattoo was twenty years ago, so things have changed a little. We chatted about pets and DnD and next thing I knew, I was done. Have I mentioned that they were awesome? Everything from check in to the care instructions at the end was a very relaxing and disarming experience.Thank you Hale and everyone at Mantis! I’ll definitely be back!

They did a fantastic job repiercing a nostril piercing on me that Id done myself very crookedly. They also did my septum and they both healed awesome. Its a very anxiety friendly environment, super clean and super professional- Im definitely going back for all future piercings. :)

Took my daughter to get her eyebrow pierced. The resident piercer, “Coyote Black”, was absolutely professional, sanitary, and extremely knowledgeable and versed in his trade. My daughter and I felt completely comfortable and at ease there in his hands. he explained the process, before and aftercare, and in depth. It was an excellent experience and I would highly recommend it it for all your piercing needs.

I am new to the area and wanted to find a new piercer! Kate was super sweet and very informative as she went through the process. She gave me great aftercare tips and recommended me to a network of piercers that can help me if/when I am out of the area. The jewelry is super pretty, too. It’s nice to have normal ear piercings again!

I cannot say enough good things about Mantis. I live on the opposite side of the state, and would rather make the 3 hour drive to see Mel than have anyone local tattoo me. In the 15± years Ive been visiting Mantis, she has done several original pieces as well as fixing old terrible ones done by other people. She is a delightful person and the gentlest tattoo artist around. Its been wonderful seeing the shop grow and move to a new bright beautiful location!Staff is knowledgeable and friendly, every time I visit for new ink I have a great time. Very satisfied with my piercing experience. It was clean, the price was very reasonable, and they use titanium jewelry, which is the only material my ears can handle. The piercer tried to make the experience as comfortable as possible and she did a great job

As soon I walked in, the first thing I noticed was how clean the studio smelled. (Even through my mask I could smell cleanliness.) Then when we spoke with Kate, our piercer, she was very honest and open about our concerns and even talked my sister out of getting both ears pierced out of concern for any discomfort she might have while sleeping. (She said if she really likes her piercing she can always come back and get the other when its comfortable to sleep on that ear.) Kate also talks to you through each step of the procedure, and lets you know exactly what tools she is using at that moment and lets you know exactly when the needle will be involved. All her tools are clean, and you can clearly see them being set up. She also very clearly explained the aftercare procedure and made sure we understood it. Definitely will come back here for any other piercings in the future!

Wonderful welcoming shop with high standards for both safety & professionalism (accredited by Association of Professional Piercers). Took my 17yo for a piercing while on a family visit to the area and Coyote walked her though the process and provided excellent education about after care and piercing in general. If I could rate higher, I would.

If you are looking for a clean environment with knowledgeable individuals for any piercing Coyote is definitely the person to go to! I have gone to him twice now and will not go anywhere else for piercings. He is as detail oriented as they come and he knows his stuff when it comes to piercing! Definitely worth it!

Coyote did my septum piercing about a week ago. Its healing amazing it doesnt hurt at all its perfect in the spot its in and it looks perfect. He was very professional and knew what he was doing and made you feel comfortable. He has amazing jewelry and explains all of that to you. I have a deviated septum that hooks to the right and he still nailed it perfectly and he will be honest if he cant do it and if you dont love it he will fix it or you wont pay. If youre looking for a piercer this is def the man to go to. Also I was super early for my appt by accident and they still took me right away and accommodated it.

A very friendly, professional, helpful, and non-judgemental place to get a piercing done. Kate Antoon was my piercer and answered all of my questions, and was very careful and specific in her work. I would highly recommend her to get your piercing done.The standards at Mantis Tattoo are very high and they hold to those standards.I even got a consultation for piercings that were not done at this shop, and I received very good advice as well as in-depth explanations. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Got 2 bad piercings from another shop and went to Mantis to have it redone after I pulled out the infected piercing and let it heal. Coyote was knowledgeable, polite and best of all did a great job!!! Wish I had gone there first. The business itself was impeccably clean and everyone there was nice and personable. You shouldnt go anywhere else. A few weeks later I went back and had Mel do a memorial tattoo for me. (I was a tattoo virgin and never thought Id ever actually get one.) She did a great job and now I think Im hooked as Im already thinking of ways to add to it. First class shop.

Had to have the piercer, Katie help me with my nostril piercing I had previously, and my industrial I was having issues with, also bought my second lobe piercings. She was super helpful, professional, such a sweet person I would go there again and again! Very clean shop and friendly!

I have had a majority of my body tattooed at Mantis Tattoo and piercing (starting in 2009). I could never go anywhere else, the work is more than amazing. I’ve never been so happy with my body art. The shop is so incredibly clean and neat and the atmosphere is extremely relaxing as you’re being tattooed. The shop manager and personal assistant Lauren is so pleasant and helpful, she is on her game when it comes to getting things ready.

I got my nose piercing a week or two ago at Mantis by Nova. The whole experience was smooth and fairly easy, the piercing didn’t take long at all. I was well informed about my piercing and after care beforehand by Katie and Coyote and I felt very comfortable. My nose is healing very well, and I have no infections! The pricing was very reasonable as well. Definitely recommend Mantis for their quality and staff.

Today I decided to go to Mantis to get my septum pierced. Their piercer, Coyote, was beyond exceptional! I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. Very friendly environment. He made sure that I knew what to expect and literally drew everything out for me & made sure I was comfortable with the process before proceeding. He even made sure that he pierced my nose correctly for my extremely deviated septum. Everything was made sure to be clean and sterilized. Coyote is the most professional and skilled piercer I’ve ever had the privilege of seeing. He’s done my nostril, septum, and tragus, all of which were great experiences. Each time I visited, he explained the process, how the jewelry works, and how to care for my piercing. I’d recommend him whether you’re getting your first piercing, or already have tons.

I came to Mantis with two botched piercings done elsewhere. I had two cartilage piercings done in November and a few weeks went by and I had those dreaded bumps. I emailed Coyote Black to set up an appointment to have him look at the piercings and more than likely swap out the jewelry. He answered almost INSTANTLY. Major brownie points. Coyote and his apprentice Nova were so patient and understanding as they answered all of my questions and took the time to thoroughly explain what my issue was.Not only did we change my jewelry, we did a complete overhaul of my existing piercings. He anodized titanium to match, showed me how the anodizing process worked, and both Coyote and Nova thoroughly explained the aftercare process.Coyote even pierced my daith for me, which I didnt come in to do but he made me feel so excited about my ears. Now they look so put together and are beautiful, basically like art. Hes the Picasso of the piercing world, really.Hes got credentials for days and is so knowledgeable. Every time I turned around, he was cleaning and making sure everything was sterile. He made me feel very comfortable and relaxed, which was important since I was by myself. I put complete trust and faith in Coyote Black and was not let down. He and Mantis Tattoo & Piercing are everything you need to look for in a piercer and shop. I wont be going anywhere else.

I took my daughter in to get a piercing, I believe, the guy that did it was the apprentice piercing guy. He did an Amazing job! They have a screen on the wall, where you can see what he was drawing on his labtop. He broke down how everything was going work. How the earring goes in, by drawing a picture an explaining. The picture is what I loved. Even though I understood what he was saying, him going that extra mile, an drawing the picture helped my daughter know and understand the concept of just how everything worked. He was extremely knowledgeable. The offer a great jewelry exchange too. The guy goes over that. I drove 2 hours to go to this place. They do amazing work. They offer protein bars if u havent eaten..They go that extra mile.Updated review: still drive 2 hours anytime my daughter wants a piercing, this is the only place I would take her. She just went an got her septum pierced. (Middle part of your nose) Coyote, was fantastic. From our first visit, this intial review, till now weve been there 3 other times. Coyote has done everything besides the first visit. Hes so amazing. She was alittle nervous to get the piecing, he calmed her down by explaining the process. Always that extra mile.

Got both my ears pierced here, and it is an incredibly clean establishment! I was really surprised when I walked in. The piercer was friendly and very knowledgeable. The only negative thing I can say is I wish I had watched him open up the needles, but thats just my anxiety haha.Will definitely be recommending this place to others.

Melanie and Karlis are the best artists you can find! They are super creative and great at one of a kind designs. Ive been getting tattooed by them since for over 15 years and flew from GA to PA several times to get a one of a kind design by Mel. They get to know you and their work shows how talented and committed they both are to make sure youre always happy with their work. The shop is comfortable and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. You wont be disappointed!

Got my first set of piercings since my baby piercings. I have a lot of anxiety, so was super nervous and jittery when going in. But they were really nice and patient with me when I had no clue what I was doing. Quick, easy, and wonderful people!

Coyote & Nova are super professional, knowledgable and friendly. I am 100% sure with every piercing or jewelry purchase that I am getting the best technique and quality. If you go anywhere else, you dont love yourself, and thats sad.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Great piercing place by far. But horrible customer service. I purchased a nose ring in the summer that had to be ordered and months later still never got a call back about it after they said hed call as soon as it came in and that it would take about a month. I called 2 months later and he said he still never got it. Went back in multiple times and asked to speak to coyote and he seems to always be too busy to handle unhappy customers. I wont be Back.

I got a small tattoo elsewhere and went to Mel at Mantis to have it fixed last year. I was really anxious after having a bad experience with the first tattooist, but after seeing the designs Mel created for how to improve what I had, I was at ease! She took the ideas I mentioned during our consultation into account and improved/added to them to give me 3 designs to choose from. I liked each so much, she ended up using elements from each to give me exactly what I wanted! She was also nice enough to take the time to improve another tattoo I have after she revamped the first one. She was very honest & patient, and I’d get tattooed by her again, with full confidence, in a heartbeat. The Mantis shop has rad decor, is very clean & professional, and the price was LESS than I thought it would be. So glad I went there!

I went today and got a Daith piercingIt was an absolutely amazing experience!!The staff was extremely friendly . The tattoo artists that work there, and the ones who own it are by far the best. I would recomend this place to anyone who wanted a tattoo. The only reason I gave it only 4 stars is because the girl that was at the counter should find another job where she doesnt have to interact with people. Maybe the zoo or something.
