Second Skin Tattoo

I went here for the Friday the 13th tattoos and was SOOOO impressed by the amount of options for tattoos for the flash sale, the quality, shading, and size of the tattoos for a flash sale! Not only that, but the pricing was phenomenal. I was really excited that ALL of the staff were incredibly friendly even after being there for well over 12 hours! I wish I remembered the names of everyone, but literally everyone was so kind, energetic, and excited. Despite the amount of people there, they treated you as if you had a walk-in appointment and not another number. I was so impressed with the two tattoos I chose from the flash sale, it exceeding my expectations. You literally cannot go wrong here. Thank you so much!!!

If I could rate more than 5 stars I would. I get my work done by Larissa Berg and she is amazing! Not only is she incredibly talented and does a variety of styles, but she always makes me feel so comfortable and listens to what I need! I definitely found the artist Ill go to for years.

I highly recommend all artists at Second Skin! The artists are very knowledgeable, sanitary & kind. All of their work is clean, professional and dope as hell. The ambiance is very laid back and welcoming. It’s such a great time getting tattooed there. Larissa is so intelligent and damn good at what she does. She’s very informative, honest & real. Her work speaks for itself and she’s an even better human. I absolutely LOVE this shop.

I’ve been here twice to be tattooed. I had Larissa and she is my new go to! The shop is super clean and nice and the vibe is so chill and friendly. Derek, the owner, is awesome too!! I’m going to schedule a future appointment with him as well. Larissa has a gentle hand when it comes to lines and shading and she is a true talent. This place is my new go to for all my future tattoo plans.

Ive been to many tattoo shops in my days all along the east coast from NY to FL. Ive seen some of the worst and some of the best. Second Skin is without a doubt one of the best. Ive been there numerous times and gotten tattoos from Larissa. She is top notch. Super friendly, clean and very talented. She isnt alone. There are a number of artists in there and each one of them has extreme talent. The shop has a very home like atmosphere that is very welcoming. Unlike other tattoo shops Ive been to these artists are very talented and masters of their craft, yet they check their egos and attitudes at the door. Its such a wonderful environment that Ive gone there to buy merch and ended up hanging there for hours. Check their portfolios. They speak for themselves. Each artist has their own style and can provide art for your body youll be proud to show off for the rest of your life. Dont take my word for it. Go find out for yourself. You wont be disappointed!!

Ask for Larissa! She’s done 5 tattoos for me so far and I will be back for more. She will work with you on the design and makes you feel so comfortable and welcome. I get compliments on my tattoos all of the time. Her workspace is very clean and organized. I cannot wait to go back to her and get my next one!

Came here to get a rook piercing done , the piercer pierced it way too shallow and immediately started rejecting. Came back in to show their mistake and they wouldn’t refund or own up that they didn’t pierce it correctly. I would NOT recommend anyone to come here for piercings.

Second skin is my number 1 go to place for any and all tattoos! Every tattoo artist there is nice and friendly. If they dont have time right then and there they will try to work you into their busy schedules. I have been gothing there a little over a year and a half now and I absolutely love it! It was my daughters wish to get a tattoo for her 18th. Derek took the time to edit adjust and explain changes to the design she had. He was patient with the typical first time jitters and movements and did an amazing job!

After a bunch of research I chose second skin for my goth girl arm sleeve and was not disappointed! Derek did an amazing job taking my ideas and creating amazing pieces of artwork. I have been going to Second Skin Tattoo since 2007, primarily seeing Derek. I consider myself to be heavily tattooed and I get compliments on my (Derek’s) work ALL THE TIME. I have never had an issue in or with his shop. It is an extremely clean environment with a wide array of talented artists. He only hires the best so you can feel confident walking into Second Skin and walking out with an amazing piece of art regardless of which artist applies your tattoo. Prices are on par with any other shop you’ll go into, and there are TV’s all around so you’ll have something to watch while getting tattooed. If you’re looking for a tattoo, give Second Skin your business…you won’t be let down.

Derek and his team are amazing. I’ve gotten 8 tattoos at Second Skin. 1 from Jayson, 2 from JulieAnn and 5 from Derek. I’ve always felt welcomed and I’ve always been treated as family there. My daughter now has gone to Jayson for her two tattoos, and Joe pierced her belly button. All great experiences.

Larissa is absolutely amazing. I had a finger cover up I needed done short notice Larissa gladly took me in and even waited for me to arrive. She did an amazing job I couldnt asked for any better, very friendly and knew exactly how to cover it up with the lotus flower i wanted after being told by a few other shops that it would be impossible to cover up with a lotus. Definitely recommend Larissa for any of your tattoo needs.

Charlie is brilliant. Great experience, so much fun, and his art is THE BEST.

Derek was phenomenal with the ideas I gave him for a traditional Eagle and a traditional Torch tattoo. He put his creativity into the pieces and I let him do whatever he felt looked best. I completely trust him with a tattoo machine on my skin to come out looking great. Highly recommend coming down and looking at his portfolio as well as another tattoo artist there that I got to see do some work was Charles Platt. I got tattooed by Charles Platt. We started a fairly large piece on my stomach. He was quick and efficient, and the tattoo is expertly applied. When I went home to wash it, I had hardly any pain in the area. His lines are literally perfect!I could not have asked for a better experience, thank you for being so professional and kind sir!

Doesnt seem to understand the concept of how to run a business. Called to make an appt, was told I couldnt make an appt unless I knew the artists name but walk-ins were welcome. Went in first thing shortly after they opened and I was asked if I had an appt and explained the situation of how I tried to make an appt and suddenly the story changed to we dont make appts over the phone. I said I was a walk-in since I couldnt make an appt and then was asked if I could go back later that evening. Thats not the concept of a walk-in. If you tell customers you except walk-ins and they walk in then that means they would like it done when theyre walking in. The guy also had a very cocky attitude about it. Went on to a different tattoo place where two other guys walked in mins after I did and had the same exact situation happen to them mins after I did. Terrible service. 10/10 do NOT recommend

I came to Second Skin because the tattoo place I normally go to was closed, and thank goodness I did. Derek took one look at the first tattoo I had ever gotten and told me he was going to fix it. I didn’t know what was wrong with it (I originally came to add onto that tattoo) but once he was finished, I could see it was all wrong. He did an awesome job, and I appreciate that he was honest with me about what it looked like and for giving me a deal for that along with the addition I wanted. It was a great experience overall.

Friendly laid back environment! I have tons of friends who get work done here and never heard one bad word about them. Derek is one solid, talented and upstanding guy. Ive always respected him and I can count on my hands and feet the times Ive really talked with him. Ive gotten all my best tattoos here and I plan on scheduling an appointment and visiting from Va cause I know Derek is the right artist for me!

I have gotten three tattoos here and my wife just gotten one also. He was pretty quiet but not rude.The atmosphere is ok but not great.The shop is clean but not the cleanest.The reason for five stars: speed, precision, and price.Other shops overwhelm you with loud music, lights, chatter.... This is more of a studio and you are the canvas.I will be back shortly.

Went in to get a half sleeve started around a lioness tattoo I have had on my upper arm. Joe was quick to make an appointment for the next day. I gave him range to do his thing and he drew up an awesome scene from elbow to top of shoulder that flows beautifully and covered up a few of the lioness flaws. He was personable and had a sarcastic wit that was fun to be around for a few hours. Recommend them!

Best place and best people in town. Derek did my sleeve and several portraits on me. He is beyond talented! And please....dont listen to any haters... Especially MadamMetal. I know her personally... Longer than the crew at SS, unfortunately. She has NEVER stepped foot in this shop...she is just a bitter b*tch who wants to hate on this place because she is unwelcome. Look at all the reviews. Go to the shop and see for yourself.. you will not be disappointed.

As far as tattoo parlors go, this IS the place to go. Going to the wrong artist will literally scar you for life, and it will be an ugly one. All of these guys are professional, creative and welcoming. I dont see why anyone would go elsewhere. Middle Earth will live through me because of this place. If I were able to give it more stars, I would. No joke. Check them out!

Clean, with friendly and professional folk. Got my nose piercing done here and it was so quick (and honestly not that painful)! They even have a pool table!

After waiting an hour and being looked past, I finally got a simple tragus piercing. He didn’t have a sterile receiving tool so he used a makeshift part for a tattoo gun and they didn’t have any more jewelry so he put a long eye brow ring in causing me immense pain. Had I known I would have went elsewhere. A professional should be able to say I can’t do it at this time and not care more about the payment as opposed to the care of the client.

Im originally from New York, I have over 25 tattoos and Ive never experienced such a low vibrational, dark, sully ambiance in all of my life. Now its not so much the decor, thats actually pretty nice but some of the guys that work there YUCK ! Be prepared to have your ears repeatedly assaulted with the excessive use of profanity and vulgarities. They have no respect for elders or women. With the exception of Jason (2 Meals) who is awesome, considerate and apologetic of his peers language and behavior. I was scolded on my way out for touching rubber bracelets (thats in a bowl in front of the door with no sign indicating it cost anything) without asking, as if Im a child who didnt just spend money in their establishment. I personally would not recommend this particular parlor. But the artist Jason (2 meals) personally yes, I would, hes the only reason they got any stars from me; as I am very satisfied with his work and ethic. Oh yeah the prices are a little spiked in my opinion, coming from once again a person who has over 25 tattoos and experienced over 6 different artist and parlors.

In the last decade Derek has been nothing but a professional artist at the top of his game. He has covered surgery scars for me with art that you will not see walking around anywhere else. Care from the moment you call for an appointment through me flying in to see what the next awesome idea he has in store for me. A shop to be nothing but proud of with the same eye for detail in keeping his business place clean. He advises you through the process wether it is your first ink or a touch up on everything from how that area of the body will take ink to color applications and styles. I have apiece on the back of my head covering a brain surgery scar, a back piece, left arm shoulder piece, a right arm sleeve, left chest piece, and left leg sleeve up to my hip. All his art and if my kids want ink it will be from Derek. He is there for you from beginning to end of the tattoo process. Thank you Derek and be seeing you!

Just got another amazing piece done by Jason Dobbs. Dude is super solid with any American Traditional piece. All the guys and gal in there are solid. Recommend 10/10

Called on Sunday to verify they did all types of piercings on ears and was told absolutely…Went in on Monday to get my conch, mid helix, and forward helix done. The guy flat out said no to the forward helix because “it’s a pain.” I should’ve left then but stupidly I stayed and allowed him to pierce my mid helix and conch. He was having a hard time finding appropriate jewelry to fit my conch and had next to nothing for my mid helix. He ended up putting a curved barbell in my conch that was not long enough for healing and put a hoop on my mid helix that was also not suitable for healing. I went to a secondary place Tuesday and the conch was already embedded and he pierced it wrong and went through the thickest part of my ear. I’ve had many piercings and after the selection fiasco and the attitude of the guy that pierced me, I would NOT recommend allowing anyone in this establishment to pierce any part of my body.

The best tattoo shop ever!!! it’s very laidback and not awkward at all, most tattoo shops i’ve been to are very awkward for me. this one was super chill & honestly felt like i was with friends, my tattoo was done by jayson and it turned out amazing. love this place and will be coming back for more.

I showed them one design and got the outline done ok, but somehow pink and purple turned into orange and yellow and blue lol. On top of that,i was told $200 and got charged $247. I trusted what he said and signed the receipt. I should know better than to just trust people anymore. I wont be going back. Ill have kens tattoo fix it when they open.

Gotten two pieces from Derek now and love each one. Have already started talking to him about making trips to GA on my way to FL when I visit the family. The drive from VA will totally be worth it. Hes gone above and beyond to take my spuratic thoughts and turned them into exactly what I wanted.

The best tattoos I have come from here. They have not faded and they use top top shelf inks. Very radiant. Very proud of those tatts. And they are very friendly nice environment.

Ive been going to Second Skin for over 15 years! I have multiple tattoos from a couple of the guys in the shop and I get nothing but compliments from everyone I meet! Hands down the place to go when you want it done right! P.S. Its a tattoo parlor not a confession, if you cant handle the language, go get your butterfly tattoo somewhere else!

Joe King did an amazing job on my memorial tattoo. Each aspect of this means something special and that is my sons actual handwriting. Joe captured it all beautifully!

My wife and I went in to check out the place to get tattoos for our Son, came back the next day and couldnt be happier. Derek drew exactly what we both wanted and the finished product looks amazing.

Im not one for tattoos but I wouldnt go in for a piercing either. Their body jewelry is cheep with a very small selection of jewelry to choose from. The display for straight bar and banana bars are thrown together in a tray and is all externally threaded. They did have 2 small displays for nicer looking steel banana bars and plugs for stretched ears. That was about it. My gut told me to RUN the other way fast!

Joe is the best artist Ive ever had. Both working within your budget and the piece you want to make sure both sides are happy

I had my lip stabbed here. The guy was halarious! The only bad reviews Ive seen was that they were rude? May I suggest if you are looking for someone to hold youre hand while they are pounding skin look into joining a Catholic Church on suday..... Leave the lil ones at home.
