After decades of travel satisfying my wanderlust, my grizzled face and aching body only tell part of my story. What a Ride!’”-Hunter S. ThompsonSo I inquired inside Canalside Tattoo. Their skilled professionals are artists doing absolutely beautiful work. The business operates out of a pristine space conveniently located in the largest building in Medina’s Historic District. It also has a very cool gift shop with some awesome decor, and there’s ample free parking in a paved lot in the back.Canalside Tattoo’s entire staff is very kind and helpful. They humored me a bit at first because I wasn’t entirely certain about actually going through with the process. Their passionate, precision craftsmanship emboldened me to make the leap. I’m currently weighing two versions of a Celtic knot that will encircle a tree of life design for my left upper arm, and inscribed underneath that will be my maxim:The journey IS the destination.The staff all said I needed to sleep on the decision for a few days. Good advice. Good people.

Came to Canalside to get my 16 year old daughters ears pierced. I was thoroughly impressed... the environment is clean and classy, all the employees that we interacted with were very friendly and professional. The procedure was explained very clearly, and I felt very comfortable throughout the whole process. My daughter ended up feeling lightheaded afterwards, and again...everyone was very attentive. I am definitely pleased, and will absolutely recommend. Thank you for the positive experience ☺️

My daughter wanted to get her first tattoo here, with Shawn. We booked with him & he was very accommodating & friendly. The shop was beautiful, professional, & clean! With a little gift shop, & piercing, as well as multiple tattoo stations. Shawn was wonderful to talk to & just fun to be around, & his artwork is impeccable. We had such a great experience & will be back!!

Shawn and all his staff are at the top tier of their field. They are professional, personable and accommodating. Not to mention, the detailed artwork that they craft is second to none.And, if you’re looking for a gift or a little something for yourself, their retail space has a large variety of items to choose from. You’ll definitely won’t walk out of there empty handed.Now, I just need to figure out what my next tattoo will be. 🤔 I’m looking forward to getting back into Shawn’s chair very soon.

I had a existing tattoo that needed a few changes, and a additional flower..i booked with CJ and i was very impressed.. this was my first time to the shop and from start to finish they were very professional! The shop is very neat and clean and everyone was super nice! CJ did a wonderful job on making my tattoo really pop! I really needed a new tattoo artist who can do any tattoos i want in the future.. i have 7 total but my artist i had and loved left the state, i was having a hard time finding a tattoo “home” but i def found it at Canalside.. after the tattoo was done i popped over to have my Tragus earrings switched out and Megan was also very professional and nice! Thank you for doing such a beautiful job!!

Shawn the shop Owner goes above and beyond customer service & clearly creates a family atmosphere with his employees. Ive gotten my last two tattoos with him and I drive two hours for him because he exceeds my expectations, personally making sure my tattoo is covered in time for my wedding. Never once made me feel like a burden for asking for what I wanted. Hes someone youll feel good giving your business to. Every time. (Megan and Andrew are pretty cool too...)

Amazing place! Great artists. Owner, Shawn Ramsey, is friendly and a great piercer and tattoo artist. He has done 2 cover ups and 4 other tattoos of mine as well as my daith piercing! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Got my nose pierced a couple of days ago. Meagan was amazing walking me through it. It was just a quick pinch and it was already done. She did a spectacular job.

My first, but definitely not last, visit to Canalside was stellar. Even after a tiny miscommunication (which was handled professionally and quickly), I was pickled tink with the whole process.I gave Shawn a list of flowers I wanted included in my piece and left the entire design, and colors used, to his expertise. I was not one bit disappointed. The result was phenomenal! The time, care and talent poured into my tattoo, plus the great personalities of the crew, added to the constant banter and laughs - it all made the entire experience an absolute blast. 10/10 very good dudes at Canalside! I’ve been getting tattooed for 20+ years. Canalside has,far and away the most talented,Down to Earth crew I have ever had the pleasure of sitting with.The shop is meticulously clean. The work is top tier.

I got a tattoo from James, it was a good sized tattoo. The facility is very clean, the nicest tattoo shop Ive ever been in. I gave James reference material and he came up with a great design and the tattooing process went well. I didnt have much interaction with too many of the rest of the staff, but what I noticed from observing everyone else while sitting, it was professional...yet an upbeat and professional atmosphere. I will be returning for more work, already made an appointment.

I went again with 3 friends & converged on Matt. He did his usual amazing job with all of us. This place should be the model of all businesses of this kind to aspire to. The shop is immaculate & the artists are A1.

Got my ears pierced second hole on lobes 40$ little high but the piercing girl was very friendly pretty cool chick seen me right away as a walk in customer so that was great and used a needle shocking was so fast couldnt believe she did it so quick less painful then the piercing gun good piercing experience for sure highly recommend this piercing girl very professional skills canalside tatoo in Medina

Canalside Tattoo is amazing, they are professional, clean, courteous, and did a wonderful job on a cover up that somebody else started and had gone bad. Matt made sure I was comfortable and did a wonderful job making it look like a completely new tattoo!! Also the atmosphere was very inviting and everybody there was very friendly and helpful!!

I went to Shawn Ramsey yesterday for my very first tattoo. It is incredible! He was so patient and kind while explaining the entire process to me. He was easy to talk to and made sure my tattoo was exactly how I wanted it. He redrew it 3 times, making even the slightest changes to make sure it was exactly what I had asked for. The place is clean, well lit, and comfortable. I will absolutely return here again for another tattoo.

Im 72 & got my first tattoo on April 28th. I can think of no better place to have experienced this & getting one more check mark on my bucket list. The business is immaculate, the people are extremely friendly & the shop is fun. I also had another ear piercing done which was easy. The girl who did that (Im sorry...I cant remember your name but your red hair was fantastic!!!) was fast, friendly & again, immaculate. Matt was absolutely wonderful & gave me exactly what I wanted for a design. The colors match perfectly. Im thrilled with this business & will recommend it to everyone. Thank you all!!!! Gail

Amazing experience for getting third lobe piercing done. Wonderful staff that’s up for anything. Very reasonable price for the service, and it turned out great. Couldn’t be happier with the new piercing! Will be returning in the future for other piercings.

Wonderful experience today at the shop. It was extremely clean, and vibes were immaculate. I knew I was in the right place seeing the awesome Star Wars memorabilia. CJ (my artist) was amazing, I came with a pre designed piece but hearing her opinion on placement as well as size was extremely helpful. She was organized and very clean. She also made sure made sure I was educated on aftercare. The whole process from scheduling to the session was a wonderful experience and I will be back! Thanks everyone!

We had a great experience for our first visit to Canalside. The waiting area is inviting, and everything is incredibly clean. My daughter had her ears pierced, and Megan, the piercer, was kind, patient, attentive, and understanding. The whole staff jumped to the ready when Pineapple rang out! We were very happy with the experience and I look forward to visiting again.

Cj is amazing at what she does!!! I am totally obsessed with all of my tattoos and she fixed and added to my most recent one. Very comfortable and I brought a friend. All of the staff is so nice and it is such a cool vibe in there. Totally recommend!

My sister and I walked in after we saw a Facebook posting. Both of our piercers listened to our wants and made us totally comfortable! I’ve had my nose pierced before and this has been the best experience I’ve had! My sister passed out and let me say I am so amazed at how quick and professional all the ladies came together to make sure she was safe and okay. My sister was totally okay just took a little nap! I will recommend them to everyone looking for a piercing and will definitely come back for any future piercings!

My first time going to canal side after hearing such great things from my father and others about the place was awesome. My daughter wanted her first tattoo and I wanted a nother one as well, so being my daughters first tattoo I was a little nervous but we had Matthew as are artist he was great hands down , he went over things with her and described what was doing step by step so she stayed comfortable and the art work was great I got 1 done as well and both are very satisfied and already got appointments to go back. I will continue to go hear from now on and have already told other about the establishment as well . My girlfriend and I recently had our first ink done at Canalside by Shawn and we were thrilled with how the tattoos came out, as well as the entire experience. Shawn and his crew made sure we were comfortable, explained the process and after care, and they were hilarious to boot. Highly recommend this shop for first or followup ink!

Meghan was incredible. Super informative and helpful, answering an exhaustive amount if questions and removing any nerves about a first nose peircing. She also helped with an existing piercing that was causing trouble. The owner, Shaun was not only generous with the candy canes (theyre fresh to death) but also extremely gracious when we were late due to traffic.We left feeling taken care of with incredible piercings. Love this crew and well happily make the 45 minute drive to get taken care of here again.

My appointment was at 12, we got there a bit early and it opens at 12 so we had to wait but i dont mind :) when it did open there was no wait and they had my piercing done right away. I dont remember the name of my piercer (Im so sorry!) But they were absolutely lovely and very cute . Honestly Id love to just be there all the time it was such a cool place (hire me someday 😳) they were so friendly and professional and stylish. Also i got a CUTE pair of socks and a pin. 10/10

What an excellent experience. Shawn Ramsey started working on my sleeve tonight and the entire four-hour session was just plain enjoyable. The employees are laid back and friendly, the shop is clean and well lit, the workspaces are routinely cleaned and sterilized, and the prices are more then reasonable. I highly recommend Canalside for tattoos.

I do not leave reviews. Ever. However, the care and quality of the work exceeded my expectations. Matt was absolutely incredible, and anyone who knows Celtic knot work knows how challenging it can be. The detail and care was just outstanding! Thank you all for al you do! I am very impressed with the Canalside Tattoo Co. I saw the shop at the Flower City tattoo convention and decided they were the best fit for me and I was soo right! CJ designed a blue cornflower tattoo and it is just perfect. The colors are true and the design is just what I had envisioned. Her demeanor was very professional; she answered all of my questions and listened to me carefully. Her technique was extremely gentle. This was my first tattoo and I was expecting pain but it wasnt . I am definitely going back for a second. I highly recommend this studio and CJ Cruickshank!!!

Great place for a tattoo. Shawn did a great job on my wedding band. Very patient with drawing up my ideas and nailed what I wanted. Cant wait to see what he draws up for the sleeve I want. Highly recommend going here for some ink. Only warning is once you get one done you will want more lol.

Spent a lot of money here. Was very impressed and happy with the service at first. Do not reschedule your appointment, life , military or anything will not keep this company for keeping the deposit. Which I understand its a art form, but even a doctor will let you reschedule 24 hours plus? Unfortunately we will be finding a new artist for our future services. Check your artist and company policy before you choose!!!

Hard to get ahold of the artists but they do great work.Update: ive had 4 tattoos done here...by two different artists. The last three have all bled and formed together and look quite dark. I wish I couldve seen healed photos of their previous work. They look bad now :(

Very terrible experience. Bald guy tattooed yin/yang symbol with dragons and did a horrible job compared to the tattoos on his person. Left multiple spots needing more ink as well as the dragons wings and whiskers are not EVEN ATTACHED TO THE DRAGON. COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY REVOLTED THAT I ALLOWED THIS PERSON TO PUT THIER WORK ON MY BODY.

This parlor was amazing!! My friend and I went to get industitals done, and Aurora was so great. She was very kind and informative, and very patient when I asked her a whole bunch of questions about the piercing (I had a written list!) They also answered question I had after the fact through their Facebook messaging, which was really convenient. I felt very reassured and confident I would have a great pirecing, and that I was in good hands! The service and prices were awesome, and the customer care and satisfaction is high. We will definately be going back for more piercings in the future 😁😉

I got my eyebrow pierced Thursday. Great service. They double cheek to see if youll be satisfied with the placement , and help pick out the jewelry that is perfect for you. Also nice conversation to make you less nervous.

Work was good but customer service wasnt acceptable I asked how much touch ups cost and instead of answering in a business like manner he asked me how much groceries cost me each month I felt judged by how I dress and the sad thing is I need a lot of touch up work done and a whole back peice finished would have came back if I was treated properly
