I don’t even know where to start this review. Dutch is absolutely amazing. He is very professional and an over all great person and tattoo artist. He listens to you and gives you his absolute honest opinion from a professional stand point. He did a quarter sleeve for me and i could not be happier with it. This was my first color tattoo and Dutch exceeded my expectations. The shop is super clean I could not say enough good things about not only Dutch but his shop too. Got a tattoo on top of my hand here today, super stoked about the results. The lines are super clean and it was quick and (rhetorically) painless. I really like his technique since he does the lines and fills in the black at the same time, rather than doing the lines and going back. That way he’s only in a painful area once and doesn’t have to go back later. Anyway, it was a great experience and I highly recommend this shop to anyone who wants a sick tattoo at a super reasonable price!

I left a previous review the day I got my tattoo but I felt this was worthy of a followup, too. I got something small for my dad on the day of his death. I have plenty of tattoos, and have had some bad experiences. This was by far my best experience in a shop. I also had NO peeling, no itch, it healed so fast and nice I was literally shocked. my next fat check I will be going back for something bigger, I dont think Ill use any other artist ever again. Had a wonderful experience at Surfing Samurai! Visiting Florida with friends we called to get tattoos while on the trip, Dutch was able to get us all in the next day! He did a great job with the wide variety we got, watercolor, more of an American traditional style and line work! They also have a get what you get gum all machine which is a fun experience. The shop style is also very unique and fun to look at. I would recommend this shop and come here again if I’m back in Florida!

We found Dutch on Google and I couldn’t be more happier with what I got.Dutch was amazing, from the moment we walked in to talk to him to the time he finished tattooing. If a bottle of ink fell on the floor, he cleaned the bottle before placing it back on the rack.If we return to Cocoa, I will definitely be going back to Dutch.If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.

My husband and I drove down from North Carolina to Surfing Samurai Tattoo Shop in Merritt Island Florida and we’re very impressed with the whole experience - from beginning to end. First of all, Dutch has the best pricing out of all the shops in the area!The tattoo and piercing shop is conveniently located near Cocoa Beach, on SR 520, and easily visible on the main road, with lots of lighting/signage on the building. The shop is very clean and well decorated. The studio feels personal and very much just one on one not like a normal shop where it feels like very industrial/efficent. Plus the aftercare routine is clear and easy to follow with a guided step by step process on how to heal the tattoo in the best way possible. 10/10 will be going back for another tattoo

Would 10/10 not recommend getting a tongue piercing here. Got my tongue pierced about a month ago by Dutch and he pierced side ways through both muscles. He tried to cover up the fact that it was crooked by manipulating the bar. Mind you the bar was so long I couldn’t stick my tongue out of my mouth. The next 3-4 days I was in excruciating pain, and could not eat anything, including soup. I waited two weeks and went back to get a smaller bar as it stated I could due in the instructions and was not able too because it was two early. The next day I went to New Addiction in Rockledge and the lady told me that no tongue piercing should ever hurt that bad and she stated it was very crooked and if I were to switch to another piercing it would not sit right in my mouth. I ended up taking it out and letting it heal for a couple weeks and got it re-pierced by New Addiction about a week ago and it’s perfect, it didn’t hurt and it was only a little sore the next few days. The photo linked is a day after I took out the piercing to show how the hole is not in the middle of my tongue.

I have known Dutch for 30 years. He was my childhood friend, and still today is a very close friend of mine. Ive always supported his passion for the arts in tattoo and piercing since day one. He is become iconic tattoo artist right in front of me. I would advise anyone who wants a good experience and excellent work to definitely take some time to stop by the surfing samurai. Although I have no tattoos on my body, I have brought many people to him. Watching them all be satisfied and thrilled with my reference made me feel good because of how close of a friendship we had. Went to get my piercing exchanged because it was previously done wrong at another shop. The owner (who I assume was Dutch, I forgot to ask his name) helped me right away and was very knowledgeable and friendly. I don’t live in the Merritt Island area but do often visit. I’ve been wanting more piercings and tattoos but have been nervous about finding a place. This is definitely the place to go to for quality service. Next time I come down I’ll be back for more :)
