Highly, highly recommend Matt! He took a piece that another artist totally messed up and turned it into an absolutely gorgeous design!! I couldnt have been more ecstatic and so so thankful! Cant wait to go back! Obsessed with this rose!

I’ve been looking for a tattoo shop since my last artist moved. My friend and I live in Jacksonville and we drove the hr to have the workers there tattoo and pierce us. They’re so understanding and willing to work with you. Haley is the sweetest piercer with a wonderful personality and I can not wait to work with Matt on a piece I have in mind. One of the apprentices did a piece of me recently and it’s my new favorite. Can not recommend them enough.

Haley and Matt are amazing!! Great tattoo artist!! Victoria and Joan are Super sweet & welcoming as well!! Great artist as well! All around an AMAZING business, super friendly.the place is very Clean and very professional! This tattoo shop is an amazing environment! The owners are very professional and clean. They have fair prices and very talented artists. I went in very nervous to get pierced and Haley their piercer made me feel so comfortable and safe. She was efficient in explaining everything she was going to do and very good with after care instructions!

Went for my daughter to get her ears pierced. Hayley did an incredible job of explaining every step and keeping her distracted. I imagine it cant be easy to pierce a 7 year olds ears! Hayley helped my daughter feel comfortable and reassured. The shop is so clean and everyone we spoke to was so pleasant. Thanks for such a great experience 😊

I went into wild poppy with my friend and got to sit with her while she got her tattoo done by Victoria! Victoria was very sweet and welcoming and was very thorough in explaining everything she was doing, giving aftercare instructions, and was great company. I got a piercing by Hayley and was super nervous due to a previous bad experience at another shop and she made me feel so safe and comfortable. She explained everything and made sure I was okay before she preceded with anything. This is the first tattoo shop that I have felt fully comfortable in and I cannot wait to come back and get some tattoo work done!!

My best friend and I walked in this amazing place yesterday for matching Stardew Valley tattoos. Victoria and Joan created some beautiful custom artwork for us—-we love love love their work! The shop vibe is so open and fun and friendly and both Victoria and Joan were amazing and have so much talent despite still being apprentices. We would absolutely get them to tattoo us again!

This tattoo shop has the best environment, The owners Haley and Matt are very professional and have a well keep place! They have very reasonable prices and very talented artists. ! My friend and I got pierced by Haley this evening. She got her third holes in her earlobe and I got my belly button. She made us insanely comfortable, she has the kindest soul, and her pricing is reasonable. Not to mention she is super knowledgeable on what she is doing. If you are ever in the market for a piercing or tattoo, I could not recommend her enough!

Matt did a great job of creating my vision from nearly nothing— he takes his craft very seriously and does SUCH a great job! He put a lot of care into making sure I loved it and that I was comfortable. I will absolutely be back!

Easily the best tattooing experience Ive had, and this was tattoo number 5 for me. Matt & Co are extremely personable and you can tell they care about what theyre doing. Great pricing, really good needle pressure and linework, and the whole experience was enjoyable as well. Im in Charlotte normally but whenever Im heading towards the coast Im going to book appointments here from now on. Matt allowed me to honor my late brother in a beautiful way and helped us in our healing process.

This guys were awesome!! My friend was getting an emotional tattoo and they were so respectful and real. Not to mention her tattoo of her “love dad” in his hand writing was perfect!! Highly recommend!

My friend and I came here today to get small vacation tattoos. The owner went out of his way to get us in last minute. He was friendly and professional. The shop was very clean and felt like a shop I would go to at home. I recommend wild poppy and I will 100% return when I come back to NC.

I had plans to visit a friend in the area and we decided to use Wild Poppy for some matching tattoos we wanted to get. The three of us wanted matching tattoos of the three stars that are in the corner of all Harry Potter books. Then two of us wanted something more complicated- a color tattoo of a thistle flower to commemorate our trip to Scotland. We gave Matt a photo showing the inspiration and allowed him to do his own thing with it. We were very pleased with the results and he was a super cool guy. I may have cursed him a few times during the tattoo when I was in pain but thats not his fault. haha The studio was very clean and you could tell Matt knew what he was doing! Highly recommend.

This is my second time going to Wild Poppy and getting a tattoo from Matt. I always recommend their shop. The shop is clean and welcoming. Hopefully will be seeing them again soon!

My tattoo was drawn and done by Elura. Currently, she is an apprentice. The design was very specific, because its very near and dear to my heart. It turned out absolutely perfect. Her skill is astounding! She is extremely talented. I left flabbergasted. I am beyond happy with my tattoo, and I will most certainly get another one done by her again! My sister got a tattoo done by her on the same day. My sisters boyfriend was first to get a tattoo from this place, but from Matthew. He did an absolutely stunning job! Theyre both very talented artists. The overall experience felt like a very warm, welcoming environment. Very friendly and cool staff, and fun atmosphere! Sanitary to! I HIGHLY recommend this place.

Matt was AMAZING!! I was in town visiting a friend and wanted 2 tattoos. He was able to get me in and took an idea for one that I wanted and offered a variation to it that even sounded better. Im so glad he did because it came out even better than I had planned and the detail he put into it was AMAZING! Whenever Im in town again and want another tattoo I will definitely want to go there again!The shop is awesome and the atmosphere is great and so are the staff I saw there as well. 10/10 recommend !!

Got tattooed by Victoria and she was awesome! Very respectful and friendly, and made sure to tell me what she was going to do before doing it. Would absolutely recommend getting tattooed by her!

We are not local and tried to get a replacement piercing ball or jewelry. The person we spoke with had bad vibes and did not even offer to switch the jewelry out. Very unhelpful and not cool.

Drove from Greenville for a tattoo with Matt and I’m obsessed! So in love with it! He was so helpful with my design and recommendations his work looks amazing his assistant Victoria was sweet and helpful the shop was clean and inviting will 1000% be back!

I got my first tattoo done today by them, i seen their walk ins open for this week and said wth do it! they made me feel so welcomed and safe especially in the place i got it made me feel more than comfortable, they looked out for the spot and time and were so good at how they did it and what they do! will definitely be going back to start my sleeve and for any other tattoos :)

Absolutely great. We had Haley do me and my fathers ears. I got double lobe piercings done and he got normal ears done. Very nice staff and very clean! Definitely will be getting more piercings when I come back to NC.

I went with two friends and got matching tattoos, we all got simple stars and two of us got hyper-realistic flowers. All 5 tattoos turned out well but the flowers are beautiful and very detailed. The shop is super clean and Matt was really easy going and fun to talk to. I would definitely go back and absolutely recommend!

I went in for my 5 year old to get her ears pierced! Of course she decided that it was too scary for today! Soo I ended up in the piercers chair! MATT was absolutely understanding professional and welcoming! ALISON was at the front desk when we arrived! I have never felt so welcomed in a tattoo shop! They didn’t even mind my 1 year old and my 9 year old niece!! I 1000% recommend!!! The nose piercing didn’t hurt! And he talked and bonded with my little girl and said he would special order her some cute earrings for when she gets ready! My DAY Absolutely made!!!!

Had a great experience with Matt. He did a great job with my former dog’s nose print and took the time to make it look exactly like the print I brought in. He also did an awesome job with the sand dollars I wanted. I had a hard time trying to put into words exactly how I wanted them but he came up with a great drawing and idea for them and I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out! I will definitely be going back and recommending to friends.

Cannot say enough good things about Wild Poppy Tattoos. Matt was very patient with me (my first tattoo) and did an awesome job putting what I wanted into an actual tattoo. He made sure I understood that a 62 year old getting a tattoo had concerns that a younger person did not. It’s just what I wanted.

Had the amazing opportunity to get tatted by elura. I gave her an idea and she turned into something incredible. We had great conversations and everything went smoothly. It was a lot of fun and a great experience. I’m so happy to see her learning experience with this tattoo and overall was everything I could’ve asked for. My husband, myself & our daughter are a military family and it was really important to me that I got a tattoo done in her honor, in the city where she was born, before we move. I was referred to Matt at Wild Poppy & after talking to me about what I want, he created an incredible original design that was more than I could have imagined. He worked quickly, has the lightest touch of any tattoo artist I’ve ever worked with, and you can tell he really cares about his work. Stopped by while on a vacation. Had a really unusual and odd design in mind. I called the number on the door, vs just walking right in given pandemic restrictions. Talked with Matt about the design, showed him my basic reference image and he put my design together. I was impressed with his professionalism, cleanliness, and general eager nature to make sure he tattooed what I asked for. I am a 10 year veteran tattoo artist myself, working in an award winning shop, so my expectations are rather high. Matt handled everything with ease and definitely made me feel comfortable with my decision of trying his new shop. I would fully recommend anyone to contact him and get a great piece of art to carry with you.

My friends and I came into Wild Poppy Tattoo for as walk ins for tattoos, Elura helped us and was extremely kind and helpful. We ended up meeting Stiffler the piercer in the shop while we were waiting and started asking about different piercings. Stiffler was extremely knowledgeable in his craft and answered all of our questions. We started joking with our friend Eric about nipple piercings and he ended up getting them. Stiffler preformed the piercing and it turned out amazing. After seeing that I ended up getting my nose done and the way he pierced my nose I didn’t even notice that he was done, it was almost painless. After we finished Elura was able to finish Erics Tattoo.I will always be back for any of my tattoo and Piercing needs.

Matt not only worked me into his schedule while I was in town visiting family, he spent time helping me design a cover-up on my ring finger. He refused to start until both he and I were comfortable with the design. I appreciated his professionalism, willingness to redesign the tattoo on my finger (many places I’ve contacted have turned me down), and his commitment to making sure I was happy before we ever got started.

Got my first tattoo here after checking out all the shops in Havelock and Morehead. Its a very clean welcoming space, with decent pricing. Communicating to get an appointment was bumpy but the service was great! Very happy to walk away with one of my own drawings tattooed on my hip!

I got a tattoo here with one of my best friends. Elura, the tattoo artist who did our tattoos, was absolutely amazing. I was extremely impressed with her work and will be coming back in the future. For being an apprentice and just doing line work right now, the work Elura did for my tattoo is highly comparable to the tattoos I had gotten previously by professional tattoo artists who have been tattooing for years. Other than that, the tattoo shop itself is welcoming and inviting and I felt very comfortable here. I love the overall vibe of the place.

They say they take walk ins and have you put your name on a wait list but then take whoever walks in next rather than actually call you. Oh and If you want any color they cannot do that. The master artist (who isn’t on site mostOf the time) only takes two appts per day. Save your time go elsewhere

Matt did a great job of designing mu tattoo as a collaboration between us. He made me feel very comfortable and it was great talking to him about all sorts of things.

I gave him a couple of ideas of what I was looking for in my first tattoo and he made an awesome original design. The size was proportional to the area I wanted the tattoo as well. He took his time to make sure the tattoo was done right. I have received several compliments on the shading he did in the tattoo. Highly recommended.
