My five year old decided she wanted to try to get her ears pierced after a tough experience a few months ago where she only managed to get one ear pierced and then the earring fell out the next day because it wasnt put in well. I appreciated Onyxs easy online scheduling and their policies for youth piercings, and I am so glad we found Kristal. She was the absolute best with my daughter - she took all the time she needed to calm nerves and tell my daughter about everything that was happening so there were no surprises. You can tell she not only loves what she does, but is excited to work with kids as well. We got both ears done and my girl is thrilled! I will definitely be going to Kristal for my future piercings as well!

Hands down amazing. Came in with a custom idea & they worked with me. The gentleman that gave me ink was kind, light handed, worked with my idea & made it even better than I imagined. Jay was outstanding to work with once again. Continued my arm sleeve with Jay a can’t be more happy than the way it’s turning out so far. We still have a ways to go until he finishes it. Once I found Jay and Chris at Onyx I knew I found my new tattoo home. I have had some work done by both of them and they are amazingly talented artist. Jay completed my sleeve and Chris did a Texas flag on my back. They both created an amazing piece and looking forward to having all of the rest of my tattoos done by them.

This is one of the best tattoo shops Ive ever been to. Julz was very helpful setting up an appointment over email and getting everything sorted. When I came in I was impressed how clean and nice looking the place was. Jay did my tattoo and he was really cool and laid back. Genuinely great artist as well, highly recommended. The other employees were cool too and there was just nice, genuine atmosphere to the place. Well be coming back next time we need some ink done.

I was super nervous about getting my septum pierced after a bad experience I previously had. Kristal came to my rescue!!! I was able to get the piercing I always wanted and I look FABULOUS! I am new to this area and I needed help removing a piercing that I was unable to take off myself and this was my first stop hoping it could be done. I visited Onyx Tattoos & Piercing for correcting of my very old tattoo (10 years old tattoo). Owners are fantastically nice and sweet people, entire team is great. You can’t ask for more friendly environment around you when you have your tattoo done! My tattoo masters name is Iryna! She is some kind of magician! She turned my old messy tattoo into masterpiece! I find myself searching for very specific things when I get tattoos. Finding a good artist is one thing, but finding a shop to my liking is another. So let’s take this in a few parts.The shop:I drove into New Braunfels from San Marcos for a 10am appointment. Took me less than 20 minutes to get there and there was plenty of parking available, so much so that I could park right in front of the shop and see my truck at all times. The shop is immaculately clean and well organized (at least to my untrained eye). All of the artists I saw there were cleaning things religiously after using them, and one artist, Vivo, had a group come in for a family tattoo and cleaned his station after each person with an almost OCD quality. Loved that. For those who are picky like me, there were no flash tattoos on the wall (which I typically use as a sign to not go to a certain shop).The artist and tattoo:I heard about Claire from a friend and decided to bite the bullet when I saw her work online. I’ve been wanting to get a Celtic knot work piece on my arm for ages and I had a good feeling about her. The initial consultation was easy enough, and when I came in for my all day appointment, Claire was amazing. I sat in that chair for almost 6 hours and she was by far the best artist I’ve ever sat for. She has a light hand, worked incredibly fast, her line work was stellar, but the best part was the conversation. Sitting with someone who is repeatedly stabbing you for most of the day is a very unique experience if you haven’t had the pleasure. Claire was great about talking to me. I personally don’t like having too much chit chat, but I do enjoy talking every so often, and she seemed to understand that. Jay and Vivo also included me in their conversations as well and all in all, it felt like I was hanging out with friends the entire time. At least with those three in the shop, the vibes were on point, and even now I find myself wishing I could have just hung out there talking to everyone. Such an awesome environment.At the end of the day, each artist is different and I can’t specifically recommend tattoos from anyone as everyone wants something different. But my experience was amazing, my tattoo came out better than I could have hoped for, and I will definitely be returning (even if I didn’t have to go back in 6 weeks to get this one finished).15/10 stars.

I got pierced by Jenna Zia and had such a great experience! She was welcoming and made such I was comfortable. She had rad jewelry options, that are high quality. I watched her sterilize the area and the jewelry. She had a very clean area. I love that when she was marking the placement of my piercings she stated that it was “my body and my choice”, she wanted to be sure I was happy with the placements. I thought that was awesome. I 100% recommended Jenna! I’ll definitely be going back.

Great overall experience! Stopped by in August and my daughter got her belly button pierced and Kristal did awesome with her. Recently my husband went in for a tattoo in remebernce of his father and Owl did exactly what he asked for. Super clean and friendly definitely will go back in the future.

I went with 3 of my friends to get small tattoos. We LOVED the lady working the front and the guy who did their tattoos, Roaes, he was super upbeat, did great work, funny, and fit the vibe! Everyone else working there seemed wonderful as well! The reason I’m putting 4/5 stars is because I would absolutely NOT recommend the girl that did my tattoo, Iryna. She did do good work, but she said that she was feeling sick (allergies), this is why she only wanted to do small work…….she wasn’t sick enough to proceed to make out with her boyfriend in the shop & eat sushi in her station. Anyways, she was extremely rude and not personable. I slightly moved to give my friend my phone in order to take a picture (my bad), Iryna looked up at me & said to quit moving, because my foot twitching was already enough… If you are looking for a good tattoo experience, I don’t suggest going to her. I wanted to get 2 other small tattoos, and a touch up but decided not to... I can say that one of my friends who went to Roaes did get her touch up done, and I totally would’ve if I were with him. My friends told another artist that I initially did not want to get my tattoo done by Iryna, and he agreed that she was unpleasant..(with a different term)….I understand that she wasn’t feeling good, but if you are going to put your bad vibes off on somebody’s new and exciting tattoo experience, go home. Roaes was all around better on prices and a GREAT TIME!!!! I would have loved to give him my business and spend the extra money towards him or another artist in that studio, but am so glad that my friends got to! Iryna is the definition of C U Next Time!

Went in for a curation consultation with Faythe this afternoon and ended up getting my tragus done. It was hands down the best experience I’ve ever had being pierced. She was clean, professional, and the piercing itself was virtually painless. She explained to me what she was doing and why she was doing it every step of the way, which was extremely comforting. She helped me pick some cute earrings for my second holes, too- all within my budget. I can’t wait to continue my curation with her!

Arguably the best tattoo parlor I’ve been too. Chill, laid back energy as soon as you walk through the door. From the greetings to the art work all I can say it damn amazing. My husband and I came in to get a tattoo yesterday from our artist owl. The tattoos came out great and we have absolutely nothing bad to say about owl. He is a spectacular artist and a sweet human being. The one thing that really rubbed us the wrong way was how the other artist in the studio vivo was exhibiting extremely erratic and aggressive behavior towards pretty much everybody. At one point he went outside and got into a physical confrontation with somebody. The police showed up and came inside and were looking around for him while I was getting my tattoo. (He had went to the back room to hide from the police after his confrontation outside) I have never felt so uncomfortable in a tattoo studio. Im just happy that I didnt have to be tattooed by that artist. I cant imagine getting a tattoo and my artist leaves mid tattoo to go fight outside. So unprofessional. Again my artist is at no fault for this and I do not blame him. I just had to leave this review because I felt so uncomfortable and felt that people should know what to expect when dealing with vivo. Beware

Pierced my 5yr olds ears. They did a phenomenal job making her feel comfortable and she said it didnt hurt. They healed perfectly too.

Went in with my boyfriend for piercings on Friday the 13th. After being checked in we looked through a book of flash tattoos placed on the counter and we loved the artwork, my boyfriend wanted to send a pic of one of them to his sister for her opinion since he was debating getting it done. There was no indication pictures weren’t allowed - all the book said was resizing was possible. Before my boyfriend snapped the picture we hear a guy shouting at us. Owl (one of the artists there) yelled at us from a few feet away, “hey are you taking pictures of my flash?! don’t do that, that’s not cool!” And we immediately put the phone away and apologized but the way he handled it was MASSIVELY aggressive and terrifying. I’m not exaggerating when I say he shouted and the whole environment was dead silent afterwards. A couple minutes later he stormed back up to us and demanded to see the phone to have the pictures deleted, we explained we never even took the picture. As we were pulled into a private room for the piercing a woman that worked with him apologized for his behavior. And then once the piercer heard what happened she apologized as well. They even mentioned some of the artwork wasn’t even “his” but I don’t know about that detail very much… Everything else was great, but the shouting and confrontation was terrible and humiliating :(

Just got my septum done there today. Had Kristal as my piercer and she was so informative and helpful. It was my first professional piercing so I was really nervous, but she calmed me down with some breathing exercises. I really like how she explained every step of the process to me and was overall quite positive and happy about informing me. I felt very comfortable in the environment she created. I cant wait to come back again!!

I walked in on a random day and was met at the door by owl and lemme tell you this man is a legend. Hands down a true master of the game and quite possibly the best in the city that I’ve seen. If you want a good piece done right come sit with owl and get talking to the guy.

While there is always someone intending to leave a stain on something precious I invite you to come meet everyone for yourself and make your own observations. You will be treated as family and will leave with something you’re proud to show off .

I had called and spoke with a gentleman named vivo. The other day. This man was the utmost rudest person I have ever talked to over the phone. I cannot even begin to describe the amount of disrespect that he has towards paying customers. I literally just asked a simple question about piercings and he basically told me thats not my job. I said I understand thats not your job. And he said well are you dumb? Im not dumb and I didnt appreciate being called that. if This is the kind of employees you have at onyx. Calling customers dumb and being sarcastic over the phone with them. I will just take my business else where. AND HE HUNG UP ON ME! IF I COULD GIVE THIS STUDIO NEGATIVE FIVE STARS I DEFINITELY WOULD. Very Accommodating. I was able to walk in and get same day service unexpectedly. Shop is very clean and everyone is very professional. The whole place is a vibe. The receptionist saw me getting my tattoo and brought me a pillow because she said the position I was in looked uncomfortable. I was very impressed to say the least. Will definitely go back.

Jay and Chris are awesome! Super nice guys, very funny, very courteous, and very talented. 15/10 would recommend either one of them, although Jay is who is doing my tattoo. I’m about halfway through a big one so I’ll post photos after it’s fully completed, but so far I’m super pleased with it and even already thinking about my next one. I’ve already recommended them to a few folks, and I’m basically here to recommend them to everyone! And try to remember folks, when it comes to art (of all forms), good work isn’t always cheap, and cheap work isn’t always good. These guys’ work definitely have my confidence!

My wife and I got pierced at Onyx as a wedding anniversary present to each other and I’m so glad we did! After we were severely disappointed with another popular local shop dropping the ball on our appointment, we were happy that Onyx was able to accommodate us. Jenna is amazing!! Went to this shop with my daughter for a tattoo. She uses Vivo so that’s who I used. Great work! Vivo does a great consultation before the tattoo. He makes sure that you are completely satisfied from beginning to end. Will use him for all tattoo’s. Shop is very clean and organized. Great owners and had some good laughs while there. I’ve never been to the same tattoo artist, ever. I’ve now found my permanent shop and artist. Chris is phenomenal. I’ve had a few pieces done, and they’re definitely some of my best tattoos. Everyone is chill and friendly, where you feel included, but still a level of professionalism where you know you made the right choice coming in to their shop. I absolutely loved my experience at Onyx. Jay is an amazing artist and super nice guy. I’ve felt uncomfortable in shops that were claustrophobic, not clean, or had a staff that was not welcoming. This was not the case at Onyx. The shop was clean and spacious and the entire staff was so friendly and immediately made me feel at home. Jay and Chris are hilarious and joking with them made my 6 hour session fly by. 10 out of 10 highly recommend this shop! I will 100% be going back to Jay for my next piece.

Great place! Everyone is so nice here and its a great atmosphere. I got a double nostril piercing on Friday, but by Saturday night...one side had come undone and went down the drain (no fault of the piercer). I contacted the shop on Sunday and they were able to get me in that day. I couldnt get there by 6, but they were willing to stay a little late for me. By the end of the day, I had both my piercings again! How awesome is that?? Go here! Thanks yall!

Zia Is by far the best piercer I’ve ever had and I’ve been getting pierced for well over a decade. Super professional but still friendly and warm. This place is absolutely wonderful. From booking the appointment to the actual appointment and even after getting the piercing!I had booked an appointment online for my niece, my brother and myself.Considering it was a week day and coming from San Antonio I told them we might be running later considering the appointment was around traffic time. The piercer was willing to wait if we go over closing time as well since we had 3 people. My niece was a minor and has gotten her ears pierced before but was very scared given her last experience. Jenna was super friendly, made her feel so comfortable that she did not cry or anything! Jenna pierced my brother’s ear, which was his first time. She was very detailed in explaining everything. When she did mines it was absolutely smooth! Everything went well!A couple days after my niece’s earring somehow broke and fell off, we immediately contact Jenna and she was happy to help us in putting it back together for her. About a week after that I personally woke up and my earring fell out and was not able to find it at all! Jenna was welcoming and help me fix the problem! I cannot express how appreciative I am with her service, friendliness and how she made everyone feel so comfortable! Also how we had 2 incidents she was happily to fix for us!!! I will definitely be coming back for my next piercing and will recommend others. The place was clean and welcoming so glad I listen to other reviewers and pick this place! I got my naval done by Zia and she did a really great job, she was super comforting and really quick. About a month after I got it done, I noticed I had lost the top bit of the jewelry that holds everything in, so we went down to the shop to try and get a new piece but Zia wasn’t there. One of her coworkers called her to ask what to do and she came in on her day off to help get the situation figured out. Super sweet woman and the other people that work there are really nice too! If you’re debating between piercing shops, I definitely vote this one. It’s gonna be where I go to get any future piercings. :)Also, side note, her jewelry is super cute!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! i got a very impulsive tattoo and wanted simple lines, my artist vivo (who did a fantastic job) suggested some shading and i was against it at first but got it anyway and it looks AWESOME!! relatively cheap as well and every guy on the floor was very nice and funny, being a young girl they were awesome and i’ll definitely be coming again!

I made an appointment with Vivo and he is AMAZING!!! He was really helpful, friendly and professional. I got a tattoo in between my breast and he made sure I felt as comfortable as possible and even had the pasty’s to cover myself. I sent him multiple pictures of what I was trying to get and he grab them all and came up with his own design. The shop owner was extremely awesome as well and gave me advice on my tattoo. Faythe pierced my nose, and did amazing! She was even super helpful with communicating aftercare to me when I was worried about it because it fell out in the shower (COMPLETELY MY OWN FAULT AND I GOT IT BACK IN). I am also a performer - with that comes the need for a glass piercing sometimes - Faythe did the leg work finding and ordering it for me, and Zia was super sweet and helped me put my OG piercing back in and even taught me how to use a threader (maybe not the right word, but it’s used to make piercing swapping easier). Love them both at Onyx!!

I have gotten my first and second lobe piercings with Jenna.
