IN LOVE with my piercings!! Shelly is great, shes very thorough when explaining how piercings work in terms of the aftercare and the importance of jewelry size and post length, and she makes you feel very comfortable while doing the piercings. She helped me pick out the perfect set of earrings for my 3rd hole earlobe piercings. She explained that she draws a little grid(the purple marker on my ears) instead of just a dot, so that the placement and flow ends up being perfect. I thought potential customers would like to know that bit of information, I really appreciate the accuracy. I couldnt be happier, thank you Shelly!!

Amazing experience getting my ears pierced. I was nervous but Shelly is very thorough in her explanations and makes you feel nice and comfortable. There were many pretty earring options to choose from that are a fair price. I would 100% recommend getting piercings here!

Its been a good 5 years since my last piercing because I have literally passed out with the last 4 that Ive had done and that was enough to deter me for this long. Tattoos have never been a problem for me but piercings are a whole other story. Shelly was incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating and made sure I was nothing but comfortable and well informed. I have no plans in the near future for any other piercings at this point but she did a phenomenal job with my double nose piercing and Ill hands down recommend her to anyone I know thats considering having anything done from here on out!!

I had never heard of this place before, and did very little research. i was in a pinch trying to get a ball screwed off of one of my ear piercings, and the shop i had gotten it done at was closed! this place was only a few minutes away, and im so glad i stopped! the woman that helped me was so very sweet for taking time out of her very full day to help me! i could not have been more appreciative. i had the chance to check out some of their jewelry while i was there as well, and their pieces are BEAUTIFUL! i definitely will and can’t wait to stop back and get some new pieces for my previous piercings, and even some new additions as well!

Went there today to get my ears pierced and Shelly was absolutely amazing! She explained the whole process and how to properly clean&take care of the piercing. Everything was super clean as well.

I cannot say enough good things about our experience at Modern Ethos Piercing and Fine Jewelry!!! Shelly is incredibly knowledgeable and educated in her area of expertise. I have never felt more comfortable in a studio and she put all of my 10yr old daughter’s anxiety at ease. Shelly is amazing with kids! Since they operate by appointment only, it was just us there. We were able to take our time, ask questions, and choose the perfect earrings. (All jewelry used at her studio is made in the USA, aside from some jewelry they purchase from Canada. All jewelry is ASTM approved implant f-136 6AL-4V-ELI titanium.) Shelly only uses single use hollow needles instead of piercing guns, so we knew everything would be 100% sterilized properly. She had a very informative consultation with my daughter and even required her to sign her own consent (giving her a voice and allowing her to feel empowered- which I LOVE). Everything went so smoothly and my daughter couldn’t stop smiling for the rest of the day! We celebrated with ice cream at the adorable Hanna’s Ice Cream Shoppe right under the studio. I will be recommending this studio to anyone and everyone I know who is looking into getting any type of body piercing done. 10/10. 🙌

I had my septum done by Shelly. Shes so knowledgeable and professional. Her studio is also impeccably clean. I wouldnt go anywhere else for quality piercings, jewelry and techniques!Edit to add a year later (since I continue to go here for piercings).. I havent seen anyone mention how great the aftercare is. Shelly will immediately respond to your emails with great advice and care. I recently had my forward helix done and she scheduled a follow up appointment right there so that we could change my bar to a smaller size once healed. I cant say enough how great the experience is at Modern Ethos from start to finish and especially after your piercing!!

Not only are her precision and placement unmatched, but she has an eye for design and can help you figure out what works best for your anatomy and what will look best on you. She also has the ability to special order jewelry and I’ve been able to get things custom made for me and with perfect measurements.

I had a wonderful experience. Shelly spent a lot of time with me discussing what look I wanted for my ears. She explained everything to me and helped me pick out the right jewelry. Everything was sterilized and cleaned before getting the piercings. I love my piercings and will definitely come back when I’m ready for the next ones.

I got my nostril pierced at the beginning of October. Shelly was professional and very knowledgeable. She explained the aftercare throughly before the piercing and was so clean during the whole process. I unexpectedly went under anesthesia two weeks after and could not have metal jewelry. Shelly was able to squeeze me in last minute to get a glass holder so the hole didnt close and I was so appreciative since I sprung it on her the day before. If I get any more piercings, I will definitely be coming back!

I originally came in yesterday for a belly button piercing and my anatomy was assessed standing up and sitting down. Shelly explained to me that I do have the right anatomy for it but the problem is that when I sit down my navel collapses and if I were to get it pierced I have a high chance of it becoming irritated constantly and then it leading to an infection, migrating, or rejecting and she wasn’t comfortable doing that on me. Completely fine by me as I had a hunch from the research I did on belly button piercings that I might not be able to get one. I decided on getting my septum pierced instead because I have been wanting it and I loved that she showed the different jewelry and explained all of the different ones in detail. She did a lovely job with the prepping and easing my nerves before and throughout getting it pierced as I was nervous (not of the pain) to get it pierced. Shelly is very sweet, welcoming and easy to talk to which made me feel comfortable because I typically have a harder time talking to people. The environment of the shop very cozy and not to mention this place is VERY LGBTQ+ friendly which is AWESOME!! The pricing is VERY reasonable for the high quality jewelry that is on display and I will DEFINITELY come here again when I decide I want more piercings! HIGHLY recommend getting pierced here!

I had an appointment to get my dermal removed and there was NO sign on the door stating to wait in your car until your appointment time. I went in because the doors were unlocked. The owner came out and yelled at me and told me to “wait outside till my appt time and she would come get me”. I waited and waited and she never came out. It’s now 20 mins past my appointment time i call and she tells me she said to “come in at my appt time”. I went in and she was so rude and ignorant and told me that her sign says to wait outside till your appointment time. And no where on the sign does it say that but she argued with me that it did. For owning a business she does not have people skills and I will never go back!! They make you pay when you book your appointment and if it wasn’t for me already paying I would have left and never would have stayed and waited!

Such a knowledgeable piercer, I bring everyone there now that want more piercings! She helped me to fix a piercing not done by her, and then did a wonderful job on my new one! She is extremely kind and understanding and an expert in her craft.

Ive been seeing Shelly for piercing for many years now, and she never disappoints! I got a couple of stacked lobe piercings from her and she was so precise with her marking and they came out so rad! I cant wait to come back to her for more once these heal.She is the best piercer and owns the best and cleanest shop in the area; she always gives thorough aftercare instructions and makes sure that I am comfortable during and after the piercing, which is important to me. I dont normally write reviews, but I just had such a good experience at Modern Ethos that I wanted to share for anyone else that might be in a similar situation. I had been interested in getting a nostril piercing for awhile, but Im a huge needle-phobe and could never bring myself to act on that interest. Well, lately the urge had been nagging me again, so I looked for local piercers that had good reviews, and Modern Ethos fit the bill, so I made an appointment.Shelly was *so helpful* in walking me through the whole process including picking jewely, aftercare, choosing the location of the piercing, and of course the piercing process itself. She assured me that it would be super fast. And let me tell you, she was not kidding! Seriously, I never even saw the needle, and it was over before I barely knew it was happening. And my last piercing experience was in the mid-80s at a Claires with an earring gun, and this was a million times more comfortable. And once the jewelry was in place, I couldnt even tell it was there.Today is the day after, and all looks great. I am just so pleased with the whole experience and the end result. If anyone is considering getting a piercing of any kind, do not hesitate to make an appointment at Modern Ethos -- you will be glad you did!

I took my daughter to get her nose pierced here. Shelly was wonderful. She took the time to explain instructions, care and what to expect and walked us through everything. Shelly was incredible! I did not get a piercing, but my wife did. I arrived a little early to support her, but let Shelly know she would be there soon due to traffic. Not only did she let me know where I could relax, but also offered a snack or beverage. On top of that, once my wife and son arrived, she made them feel comfortable and at ease as well. Once the piercing procedure started, it was over before I knew it. My wife was elated with the placement and jewelry she was able to pick out.Shellys knowledge and professionalism shined throughout the process. This was my first time at Modern Ethos and chose this place to get my nose stud changed since I’ve read nothing but good reviews and those good reviews couldn’t be nothing but true. She was truly amazing and was very knowledgeable on everything in her shop. She told me step by step what she was doing and the process and it made the whole interaction and appointment so much more comfortable and enjoyable. Shelly is a true professional. Her studio is kept impeccably clean and rooms are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between clients. She is also always available to help me with ongoing issues caused by an out of state piercing before moving to this area. Five stars all the way.

Shelly was amazing! We booked a double appointment for me and my 6 year old to get our ear lobes pierced. She explained the jewelry choices, after care, and the piercing process in a way my kid understood easily. She was SO patient when my little had a meltdown after the first ear, and she helped goof off with my kid until everything was calm enough to get the second one done.Very personable, professional, and meticulous about keeping everything safe and sterile. Kiddo had issues when pierced with a gun years ago. Shelly took her time, explained to everything very clearly. While kiddo said that the piercing hurt, she was back to normal within 30 minutes. Highly recommended.

I had a really great experience getting my septum peirced by Shelly. Shelly is amazing! My piercing embedded and she did everything she could to save it. It was pretty painful, but she walked me through every step and we managed to keep my piercing and she set me up with a nice long bar for recovery. I swear shes a magician! She is always super honest about piercings, even if its something you might not want to hear, and I appreciate that she always provides realistic expectations. If you are looking for a good place for a piercing... STOP looking because you just found it!!! I am not one to write a review, but Shelly is the piercer here and let me tell you she is second to NONE! Not only is she EXTREMELY thorough in your consultation before your piercing, then describes everything in detail during the actual piercing, but then gives FABULOUS after care!!! She did a daith piercing on me that was pesky and I contacted her twice to ask questions about it. She immediately got back to me and 1st conversation spoke to me for 30 minutes and 2nd time spoke to me for 50 minutes. She explained what was happening, why it was happening, and how to make it better. You just dont get this level of care anymore anywhere and my mind is blown! The place is also very neat and tidy! Id give 10 stars if I could!!!

I went in to my appointment today for a simple 2nd set of holes in my ear lobes. I had spent some time researching piercing businesses other than kiosks at the mall. I am so happy I decided on Modern Ethos. The website was extremely informative of their appointment process and important information regarding how they conduct business.Upon arrival I was greeted by Shelly who immediately started to go over the entire process from piercing care to helping me select the jewelry to explaining the actual piercing process step by step. As she prepped my lobes and sanitized the jewelry we had struck up friendly conversations which helped ease my nerves. It was a very fast and virtually pain free appointment and I laughed at myself for being so “afraid”.I would give her 10 stars!! The education I received, the cleanliness of the shop, the ease of the entire appointment blew me away. Modern Ethos is the ONLY place I will ever go for piercings or body jewelry. Not only is their level of professionalism top notch, the cleanliness of the studio is perfect! I would, dare I say it....eat off of that floor. I usually go with a friend to get a piercing, and it honestly is some of the most fun.My piercings have never had any problem healing, I always *try my best* to strictly follow after-care instructions and get a bottle of saline spray.Shelley is very serious about giving you the absolute best care and explanation for any questions you have, and is one of the nicest and silliest people I have met. Wonderful Experience for my daughter to have her ears pierced for the second time. Her first ear piercing was done when she was 8 yrs old and her piercings eventually closed. Recently took my 5 year old here to get her ears pierced and had a great experience! It was a very clean and peaceful environment, and Shelly scheduled an entire hour for us to go over everything and make sure my daughter was comfortable. She was patient when my daughter wanted to take a break after the first piercing and gave her time to recover before doing the second ear. Went in for a check up and resize of jewelry for a philtrum piercing. Shelly was so helpful and knowledgeable. She helped me decide which jewelry would fit my face and answered my questions. When it came to changing the jewelry Shelly was amazing! She made sure all jewelry was freshly sterilized and was able to get the perfect fit for my jewelry. Throughout the appointment she was very kind and checked several times to make sure I was comfortable and doing ok! Over best experience I’ve ever had with a piercer. Will definitely be going here for all my jewelry and piercings in the future!

I researched shops that could help with my dilemma and this shop fit the bill, I drove almost an hour to meet Shelly. I had two post earrings stuck in my earlobes and couldnt get them out. She was sterile as was the shop and she was sweet, constantly asking me if she was hurting me. Needless to say, she got both ears free of these post earrings and I was so happy. I would recommend the shop to anyone! :-)

I will never go anywhere else to get pierced. The women who own this business are the most skilled and knowledgeable piercers Ive ever met. After going over aftercare in the shop they send you home with a care sheet with their email and the shop number. They tell you the best way to get ahold of them if you need to. And their bedside manner is incredible.

I took in my 9 y/o for her first ear piercing. The process was *wonderful*. Shelly took the time to not only set me at ease, but also my very anxious, prone to crying daughter. I was referred here for my daith by a local tattoo shop. Shelly did my piercing (an especially tricky one, I hear) and she made aftercare feel less intimidating. My daith bled randomly the first night after, and was high maintenance for a bit (as warned) but it seems to have healed beautifully. I just made a check up appointment, (unfortunately delayed due to COVID), as well as an appt for a new piercing or two so I will update this review as needed. As far as first experience, Shelly was very professional, straight to the point about aftercare, and her expertise is enviable. Evidenced by rebooking her for my next helix piercing. Highly recommend Modern Ethos!

Theres a good reason this place has such a high average review. Excellent customer care, very clean and they really do sanitize everything - they even have you initial the sanitizer pack that the needles are in so that you know a fast one isnt being pulled, as well as a uv sanitizer for your phone while youre having the work done.Tye, the person who took care of me, was very friendly and knowledgeable on the entire process quick, smooth, and as painless as can be.They have a good stock of starter jewelry - plenty of different stones and most come in multiple sizes.I definitely plan to come back for any other piercings beyond the follow up visit to get the correct posts - this was a very good first time experience.Went back: Shelly is just as great as Tye. Fantastic place, great people.

It was obvious after chatting with Shelly for a few moments that she is an experienced piercer, with a lot of knowledge about the body and how different piercings effect the body/how the body may react to various peircings. Best shop by far I’ve been to for a piercing. Very professional owners with a clean shop and a nice selection of quality jewelry. They can even anodize your new jewelry there with the color of your choosing. They explained the aftercare process in great detail and provided some excellent tips some of which I wouldn’t have ever thought of. Brought my 8 year old daughter here to get her ears pierced for the first time. The time she took to talk to my daughter directly about the whole process and making sure she understood it all was amazing, truly. Im so grateful for how professional and amazing she was, vs what I wouldve experienced at a ear piercing place at the mall. Would 10000% recommend for any piercings, but especially for kids with first time ear piercings.

My piercer (Shelly) was incredibly informative and thorough, explaining everything she was doing as well as why she was doing it. The place was clean. Both staff members were light hearted and friendly and they gave me all the information I needed for my piercing and didnt try to force any products on me and even recommended products outside of what they had on sale. Was referred here by another shop saying they have a great selection of jewelry. We got there and were very rudely told they are appointment only, even for purchases. I don’t care that this is their policy, but the way we were kicked out was quite rude. She basically said if we could read we would know we had to call and schedule. Just checked google again... nothing there.....

Seriously, have been calling for a few days to schedule an appointment, no one EVER picks up the phone . I left vmail. no call back. They must be too busy . Perhaps you need to hire someone to take care of clientele that calls.
