Chris is an amazing tattoo artist, definitely one of the best in Idaho! He is talented, gentle, and friendly, which made getting my first tattoo a lot less nerve wracking than it wouldve been otherwise! He comes up with the most spectacular pieces and they always turn out fantastic. He recently finished up my arm piece and I love it immensely. I cant wait to start up a new piece with him!

Could not recommend Black Elk Collective enough. Start to finish, my walk in experience was wonderful. Katie took time to carefully walk me through the process, layout my design idea, and provide her artistic insight on placement. During the tattoo application, she made every effort to make sure I was comfortable and made aware if the progress. In the end, I’m thrilled with the result, and will definitely return to this shop!

Chris at Black Elk Collective in Sandpoint drew this beautiful custom drawn piece in 2020 for a loved one that passed of cancer and the numerous close family members that have battled or continue to battle a cancer. Nearly 4 years later it still looks amazing. My favorite tattoo so far and it holds the most meaning. I am glad I let him talk me out of what I originally asked for and get creative with this beautiful work of art! I get a ton of compliments on it and will continue to proudly refer him to anyone looking for good ink.He also did an amazing transformation piece on my husband. The original tattoo was just the compass part that was black with a red outline Chris reversed the color and created this BA wolf!He is such a talented artist!

It was amazing! It looked very clean and organized in their shop. I got my first tattoo ever from Chris. Him and Jessica were so nice and inviting and made me feel comfortable. Chris made sure he knew what i wanted and was very careful in ensuring the lines were straight and the stencil was to my liking. I didn’t feel rushed at all and the tattoo came out fantastic, beyond my original expectations! I will definitely be back for more❤️

I went into Black Elk super nervous about getting my first tattoo. But after discussing what i wanted with the staff and Rusty, i ended up finishing a half sleeve IN 3 SESSIONS! Rusty did an amazing job putting my vision for my family sleeve into a artistic masterpiece 😍 🤌 His realistic style was perfect and it wasnt as painful as I expected. Definitely coming back. I was in town and wanted to do something fun and spontaneous and found this place. The atmosphere here is top tier and comfortable, the service is great and my tattoo artist was extremely thorough and so freaking nice, I would 100% come back if I come through Idaho again!!

My very first tattoo, at 64 years young! Did some research as I was a bit nervous. Came across Black Elk Collective.Found Rusty who typically does more large scale tattoos but was willing to do my small wrist tattoo. He made sure I was comfortable during the process and kept checking in with me.I am thrilled with my new tattoo! Highly recommend Rusty and this shop!

Having 2 tattoos, I can say I have never worked with an actual artist. Chris took my random thoughts, a couple photos I had taken and created exactly what I had imagined. I couldnt be happier. I was in town for a bachelorette party and we got the wild idea to get tattoos while we were in town, the people here were amazing!!! There were 9 of us and they took the time with each of us to size and place the tattoo to make sure it’s what we wanted and where we wanted it! Katie did mine, it was my first tattoo and she was wonderful! We were all super impressed with our experience and couldn’t get over how great everyone was!

Such an amazing experience! Katie was so kind, gentle and understanding throughout the whole process. We came in as a bachelorette group and her kindness didn’t change throughout the whole afternoon. I’ve gotten tattoos before, but still get really nervous around needles and she was so calming and kind. Absolutely recommend.

I couldnt recommend any tattoo shop in the area more than Black Elk Collective. Ive been getting work from Chris for years now and hes never failed to take a concept I have and turn it into an amazing piece. This is where you should go in standpoint to get a tattoo.

Chris has always been a true professional. Great skill with his designs and where he places his designs. Excellent bedside manners. Highly recommend if youre in Sand Point and you want a tattoo hit these folk up.

Chris was excellent, detail-oriented, and chill for the whole experience (3 sessions with some initial consult/email beforehand). Im 77 yrs old and had my first tattoo done. Chris was my artist and was so helpful. I told him my idea, he drew up my design. Two sittings later and it was done. I am so happy I went to Black Elk Collective for my first. I highly recommend Chris and Black Elk Collective .

I have had several tattoos done by shop owner, Chris Edmondson. He is an artist through and through. His design ability is fantastic. He can take a thought and bring it to life. His attention to detail is awesome. His fine line work and shading/shadowing techniques really create mesmerizing images.

Had a great experience here both times I have visited. Both artists I have seen were very accommodating and friendly. The shop has gorgeous art on every wall, Ive bought 2 different framed pieces so far! Both of my tattoos look great and I am very happy with them! Im going to have to try a get-what-you-get-tattoo next time!

Must of been an apprentice tattoo artist. Paid $80 (shop min.) for a 4/7 date tattoo on my wife and i anniversary. Lines weren’t good. And it didn’t stick. Now look like I have a 4/1 tattoo. Extremely dissatisfied and disappointed!

We walked in as a bachelorette party, 6 of us got tattoos and the staff was amazing !! A couple of the gals had never gotten tattoos and they were so welcoming and eased any anxieties. I’m so glad they were able to fit us in and that I’ll be connected to these besties for life !!

Had a significantly less painful time with the tattoo I got from this place compared to the place I got my first tattoo from. Nice, chill people and clean environment, had no issues with the healing of my tattoo. Also, just a personal opinion, love that they have a friendly pet in the shop, makes the experience less stressful. 🙂

My siblings and I have always wanted to get hummingbird tattoos to honor her and we were all finally together and Black Elk opened for us on a day they were normally closed and artists Rusty and Katie were amazing! We knew we picked the right place from the start! I had a little problem with healing and they were able to get me right in later and touch up my tattoo with no problem! We are so grateful and happy with our hummingbirds!

I recently got the line work done for my back piece. The level of detail is unmatched and the price is great! Can’t wait to finish this piece! I love that there are quick turn around times for custom work and they are able to listen and understand the concept of the piece. Nailed it!

Chris did an amazing job. I got exactly what I asked for and I absolutely love it. He is truly an artist. I will add more pictures once it’s completely healed. He gives aftercare instructions and tips to protect your new ink. I have been tattooed by a few amount of tattoo shops in my time and I must say. Chris at Black Elk Collective is beyond amazing. He works with my schedule to get on the books, is understanding when a re-schedule is needed, prompt at the shop and ready to go, but above all he is a spectacular Artist!!!! He has done so far, my 2 most recent pieces, that I get non-stop compliments on and love. One was a cover up and the other was for my mom and both have made me so happy to see everyday. He was SO understanding with making sure the tattoo wasn’t crooked, coloring was what I wanted and that the experience was personable. I have already another one planned with Chris and a few more to discuss. He is by far the best tattoo artist I’ve had the experience working with. I highly recommend this shop.

Best tattoo experience Ive had. I recommend this place to anyone that even mentions the word tattoo, including my two adult children. The three of us went in together and all got some ink and had a great time. Jeremy tattooed my daughter and I and Alex tattooed my son. The crew is great and a lot of fun to hangout with. The place is super clean and has plenty of artwork to keep they eyes busy. My guy Jeremy has put 24 tattoos on me, working on sleeves, and I like each new one better than the last. I will definitly continue going back for more.

Debated sharing this for awhile now, however 4 months later and I’m still disappointed with the situation. So the first time I went here, the guy I saw (owner?) was great. But in August my sister and I went in for tattoos in memoriam of our dog that passed a few weeks before. The man who did it was noticeably very shaky. Her first tattoo went okay. The second one on her hand was terrible.. and I mean TERRIBLE. Unfortunately I didn’t notice until after I had gotten mine. I asked him before he did it if it looked crooked, and he said no. It turned out crooked and off centered, when it was basic simple font. Now we both have debated getting them covered or removed all together.

Rusty is my new artist! Glad to have someone like him locally.

The artists are welcoming and very professional! I’ll be getting more work soon!

I’ve had a great experience working with Black Elk Co. Tattoo and the owner Chris. The shop is clean and process professionally executed.I’ll be going back!

Jeremy was judgemental, rude, and unprofessional. He tried to pressure me more than once to change my tattoo design because I wanted something simple as a dedication to my dad. He made my tattoo and my presence at the shop feel like a nuisance rather than a business opportunity. Ive never felt more uncomfortable or disrespected than the short time I was in the shop yesterday. No thanks.

Wanted a simple finger tattoo, was told they wouldnt do it because they couldnt get it that small...? Or that it wouldnt stay...? Im so confused. I have other small tattoos and theyre still there 10 years later...Editing to add in response to the owners response: the suggestions from the artist were given in a poor manner and conveyed a feeling of what a stupid idea so i cut the conversation short and said nevermind and walked out as soon as i began to feel that. I brought a reference image and asked for something similar, it was very basic and small, if it was out of his technique or something he wasnt able to do he shouldve say that. He should not make the customer feel as if they have poor choice in ideas or assume they cannot afford a minimum. If he was smarter, he would have talked with me, maybe drawn up something similar that he COULD do, and he would have been paid $200 for a single letter tattoo that would have taken no time at all. Oh well, its the shops loss, as i found another artist and it looks just as i wanted! 😊

My daughters and I got little Heart tattoos this man with long shoulder length hair did mine and one of my daughters tattoos leaving us both with blowouts. Mine is bad towards the center where my daughters looks like a huge bruise on the side of it about the size of a quarter. This was her first tattoo and it looks horrible. We waited for our tattoo artist to show up for at least 20 minutes because he had gone “swimming”. Wouldn’t recommend.

The guy was very stuckup and over values his work wanting to charge $500 for a six inch tattoo that was already designed and would take only 40min dont go
