I went to see John back in August and October 2019 to help complete a few sessions of tattoo vanish. It is a process over multiple sessions to remove the old tattoo that I had for 15 + years. While going through the process, I began to see what a gifted artist John was, so after two sessions, and considerably lighter, I changed paths and wanted a new tattoo over my old one. My design on my shoulder blade was complicated, and John took the time to listen, helped create a new model for covering up my old tattoo. In December, John finalized his designs and moved forward with the first 3-hour tattoo appointment. His space is intimate, with a great vibe and atmosphere. I appreciate his cleanliness and changing of gloves frequently - surely the cleanest experience. I also dig that he only charges his hourly rate when tattooing. He was easy to talk to and periodically checked in to see how I was feeling. My second session was all about the details and what a master at his craft. My tattoo is stunning and absolutely dig it. So I just got the first of 2 sessions done with John. While being there I was extremely comfortable and John was amazing. Not only was his design surprising but it was perfect and exceeded my expectation. John takes the time to listen to what you want in your tattoo and makes a totally kickass design. I never would have thought so much detail can go into a tattoo. His equipment is clean all the time and you can tell he loves what he does.I am for sure coming back here for all my tattoos and am recommending him to people who want awesome tattoos.

John is amazing!!! I’ve gotten tattoos from other people over the years and John is the best that I have had the pleasure of working with. His art speaks for its self. he’s personable, friendly and straight up with you about what’s doable and what not. I won’t get tattooed by anyone else anymore

OMG I am so happy to find my new go-to tattoo artist! The entire experience from consult to completion was the best Ive ever had. John makes you feel so welcome and comfortable and during the tattoo process chats with you and you totally forget about any pain, of which there was ZERO pain (and mine was on my foot!) I couldnt believe how easy it was to sit under a needle for 3 hours. John took a badly done black tattoo and completely transformed it into a beautiful piece of art that I can now proudly show off. Really cant recommend him enough and I will go no where else now, thank you so much John!!

John is amazing! He was the second artist I consulted with, and he blew it out of the water. He listened to every detail of what I wanted and gave super helpful input to make sure that it turned out exactly how I wanted it too! His attention to detail is incredible, his line work is amazing, and he really cares out your experience! I could not have asked for my tattoo to turn out any better!! Plus-if you still like someone after a total of 11 hours of them tattooing you-thats probably a good sign!! Already consulting with him about my next one!

Hands down john is an amazing individual and a phenomenal tattoo artist! His creativity and personality surpasses any and all other artist Ive seen.Since discovering john Ive gotten 2 tattoos from him and from the work hes done Ive been craving more! He is friendly, extremely talented and works with you on your design and tattoo image. Not to mention his work heals in a week! John is an amazing artist and will give you an incredible piece! I have been tattooed by four different artists now, and I have felt the most comfortable with John. From the consultation to the actual sessions, the expertise and skill John showed was phenomenal. I have already given my family and friends his information and will continue to see him for any future projects.

I have quite a few tattoos and I’ve gone to quite a few artists. Drawing up your ideas, John is the best, bringing your ideas to paper, John is the best, attention to detail, John is the best. I’d gladly put my money on him as one of the top artists in the state. In addition to that, his prices are more than reasonable and fair. You’re stupid if you go anywhere else for your tattoos.

I messaged Johnny a several of photos I liked and he compiled them into a beautiful hand drawn piece! It was a great experience at a great price for phenomenal work that will last a lifetime. From my very scarred upper arm to a beautiful flower piece perfectly placed came strength that “you are enough” no matter where you have been. I highly recommend Collective Image Tattoo! You won’t be disappointed.

Just wanted to give a shoutout for coming in on a holiday to fit me and my husband in . The place is SO very extremely clean . He takes his time to make sure his area is clean and he’s gentle. Did such a Great job on me and my husbands tattoo! We are so happy with it and so happy we found this place!!!! Already thinking of our next one to get done by John . John is meticulous on sanitation and prep for starters. He has a very wide range styles. He is currently working on a kinda steampunk/mechanical arm piece that looks like the skins pulled back. Very, very detailed down to aging/used look and cracking of components. Already working on ideas for the next tattoo with John at Collective image.

John does excellent work, and is highly detailed. My shin tatt is almost 8 months old and still looks brand new. He also uses top of the line/newer equipment and plays great music!

When I first called Collective Image Tattoo I had been calling around, visiting and talking to different artist for a few months. Nothing seemed quite right, I only had a vague idea of what I wanted and needed help coming up with a full concept. Hilary answered the phone and was so wonderful and kind and her husband, Johnny, the artist chimed in a minute later, and I already felt so welcomed in. I had a few tattoos from before and I pretty much thought I knew what to expect from a tattoo shop. Nope, getting a tattoo from Johnny is like hanging out in his spotless studio/hangout lounge with your best friends. His apprentice Gage is also an extremely talented artist and is a great to watch draw while your getting your art done. Plus he knows his coffee. On me next time guys! But seriously these guys are amazing, and Johnnys wife Hilary is an angel. Im not even religious.And about my art. My cousin designed a piece for me with dandelions and the Space Needle poking out (yeah, yeah born and raised Seattle, whats up) and I always wanted to make it into some sort of realistic kind of yard/garden scene..and now its like looking at a piece of my beautiful garden with a dragon fly and roots and a worm in the ground, its basically alive. My fiance loves it too and he wasnt really even into tattoos before, except mine..I hope... :DThere is still so much more to come, more bugs, bees, leaves, more roots who knows! And I 100% trust Johnny to make that happen and you should too.Due note that he is appointment only and can get very busy. Though he will always find a time that works and is absolutely worth any wait.Thanks yall!Till next time!Oh, I forgot to mention he has this second skin stuff that he uses for ultra fast and easy healing=no freaky peeling, plus his tattoo gun is supa fancy and doesnt hurt nearly as much, double plus Johnny is a great tattoo artist so hes got the methods down.

I am 68 years old and this was my first tattoo! It was not as I expected...no dirty needles, no drunk artists, no bikers. Instead it was a 10/10 experience. John is a talented artist...he listens, hes patient and he answers his emails (I had lots of design questions). If you have a new design in mind, an ugly tattoo to cover up or an ugly scar....you want John!

This guy is a liar and a cheat. He took my deposit, never even started on the artwork. Cancelled my appointment and promised a refund without following through. when I asked. Again for my refund he acted like I was the one being unreasonable. Its been over 2 months and I have not received my money back, never even got an initial art idea after first consultation and paying the deposit. Now I can no longer get any word from the so called artist. Fraud. Do not give him your money. I would give no stars if I could

Best artist around. With great prices. Its basically slave to the needle artwork at more than half the price and in Bothell. You wont be disappointed and Johnny works with you and your needs better than any artist ive met. Great guy to support and also get great work done. -cody anderson-

What a great experience, very honest and accommodating. I explained what I wanted and came up with something even better than what I had in mind. Was very gentle I almost fell a sleep. Location is very clean and sterile. On point looking forward to my next tattoo. Thank you

Had an amazing experience here and got not really matching tattoos but we got a tattoo together and John and his wife were super nice and the quality of the tattoos we amazing.

Absolutely love this place. The style of art is right up my alley and the rates are more than reasonable considering the arm and a leg most other places charge. I highly reccomend!!
