Nicole was ABSOLUTELY amazing! She did a family tattoo for my daughter, my sister, and myself and we couldn’t be happier. This was mine and my daughter’s first tattoo and she made us feel completely at ease. Explained everything and had great communication while sitting in the chair. This will now be our place!

I had a great appointment with Alyx and absolutely love the way my tattoo came out. Going in, I had a general idea for the placement but she helped me to make the best decision for future tattoos. I really appreciate the time and care she took to make sure I was getting the tattoo I wanted. I’m looking forward to future tattoos!

Alyx was the absolute sweetest person I’ve come across and an amazing tattoo artist as well! After researching some artists in the area I decided to go with her for my first tattoo and I couldn’t be happier. She made me feel extremely comfortable during my appointment, outstanding cleanliness, and very attentive to my design. Alyx has tattooed me twice. Once at the Philly convention and again this past weekend. Both experiences have been so amazing. She is kind and super collaborative! The process of booking with her is so smooth and she is very helpful through the process from start to finish. She made sure I was comfortable the entire time I was at the shop and we just chatted like old friends while she tattooed me! I got my first 2 tattoos with Alyx and my experience was absolutely amazing!!!! She was so kind, encouraging and one of the sweetest people you will ever meet…on top of that she is an excellent artist. She eased all of my nerves and was so patient with me. LOVED my tattoo experience with Nicole at The Black Rose! The shop has a warm, welcoming atmosphere which made me immediately feel at home. In addition to being a tattoo shop, Nicole has crystals, sage bundles & other metaphysical supplies for sale, as well as a gallery of her artwork! Nicole is SO NICE, and worked with me to ensure my design was the size I wanted, was placed perfectly & she was so great about offering me lidocaine spray to help with the pain, making sure I was comfortable as she worked & took time to answer my questions, explain aftercare, etc. I highly recommend Nicole & The Black Rose for your tattoo, art & metaphysical needs!!

I had Alyx as my artist and she was absolutely amazing. I gave her just a few ideas with no real idea on how to fully execute. She made my ideas into a masterpiece! The first Pic is the stencil and the 2nd is the fully finished work with amazing detailing that she did! Im absolutely in love. She provided a safe space and was very comforting and thorough each step of the way, making sure I was well taken care of from the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out. Really went above and beyond to provide such a wonderful service!! She is a very kind, funny, and cool person who made a 4hr service feel like just some hang time between friends. I just was tattooed by Alyx today and I could not be more in love with my tattoo. From booking to creating the piece of art I was hoping for, Alyx really made it easy and fun. She drew up a few options based on my inspiration photos as well as played around with the sizing to get the best fit. I always ask their professional opinion because I prefer to wear the artists art of course!The tattooing process was also like I was just hanging out with one of my friends. I had a great experience getting tattooed at The Black Rose. The mood of the appointment began when I walked into the shop- it was clean, inviting and calming-the perfect way to start a positive experience. Alyx was receptive to my ideas and suggestions and reworked my piece to ensure that I was satisfied. Throughout my appointment she was attentive to my comfort level-even though she was one of the gentlest artists I’ve had. I think I even dozed off mid tattoo-that’s how comfortable I was. I will definitely be back as soon as I get my next idea for a new tattoo!

I got a lower arm tattoo and a small wrist tattoo with Alyx and it was all such a smooth process and a great experience ! She was so sweet and had a lot of patience with me as we went over the idea for the tattoo. She offered snacks and I got to relax and watch tv as she did her thing. & She did an amazing job. Very detailed and beautiful.

Im so happy I found Alyx!She was in town for the Baltimore Tattoo Festival and I ended up finder her on IG. I love the delicate, clean look of her floral tattoos and definitely knew I would love to get a piece done by her. She was just as excited as I was to talk about my idea. I had some requests, but ultimately left creative freedom up to her and I am SO glad I did.Throughout the whole process she was very patient about any questions I had, or changes I considered making, and wanted to make sure I loved what I was getting before we even started. I fell asleep multiple times during the 6-7 hour session and she made sure I was comfortable throughout.The shop was peaceful and had a cute set up. I got these floral additions to a previous tattoo with Alyx at the Philly Tattoo Convention. She was such a pleasure to work with! She was super accommodating with letting me try different sizes and making sure it was exactly what I wanted, and was clearly very interested in making sure I was comfortable throughout the session. Not to mention she was just so kind and great to talk to! I had a great time hanging out in her booth, and I’m so happy with how the tattoo turned out!

My friend Alyx recently became a tattoo artist here and I knew she would be the one to do my next tattoo. She is super creative and was easy to contact to discuss ideas and was pretty easy to schedule with considering Im a busy mom with 2 kids. The day of our appointment she showed me her sketches and was open to any changes that I wanted to make (which werent many because she nailed my idea down so beautifully!). She worked pretty quickly and was great about taking breaks. Alyx was super thorough about aftercare procedures and has made herself available for any questions should I have any in the days to come. I would recommend her and The Black Rose to anybody looking to get a tattoo done!

My experience at The Black Rose and with Alyx could not have been better. Alyx was incredibly professional and went above and beyond to make sure she delivered on what I wanted. Nicole is amazing! She always takes my ideas to a whole new level! I have 9 tattoos done by her. 2 were cover ups. I have been a client for almost 10 years and I have no desire to be tattooed anywhere else! She’s awesome and the shop is awesome! Nicole was absolutely great from the beginning! As soon as I emailed her about an idea I had she responded right away and was easy to communicate throughout the process of her drawing up my tattoo. I booked an appointment through her website which is super easy to do. Nicole is very professional and the whole process ran very smoothly. She understood what I wanted and gave me exactly that. She sent me two different options and I asked her to take some parts from one and put it on the other and it was PERFECT. I am definitely planning on having her continue to do my work. Nicole works with your idea for a new tattoo and also is very intuitive, throwing her artistic gift in, of course working with your satisfaction in mind at all times. I have had two different sessions, one in which she fixed a tattoo I was extremely unsatisfied with by another local artist. She nailed it every time! Though there may be a wait time, if you want it done right, the first time, and be happy with it walking out the door, it is absolutely worth waiting for her to get you in to her schedule.

My sister and I came into the Black Rose today to get tattoos together. Easily one of the most comfortable environments I’ve ever in been in. Alyx did a phenomenal job, and was so fun to talk to!

I searched for a long time for an artist that could tattoo a Tree of Life in four seasons. I was looking for someone who worked well with colors because this was going to be a big job as a 1/4 - 1/2 sleeve. And one day I found Nicole at The Black Rose. Her work is beautiful, her watercolor technique is amazing. Nicole he has such a wonderful spirit and makes you feel at ease. So far I am three sessions in, a total of nine hours. I have one more session for this tattoo and will be looking forward to our next project together. I highly recommend Nicole for your next tattoo.

Im grateful.I had two more sittings with Nicole and I cant say enough nice things about her and the experience. Im so pumped about my designs and cant wait to watch it expand. Nicole is everything you want in an artist; skilled, professional, efficient, geniune, creative....... My daughter and I went. It was her first tattoo and Nicole took the time to explain, waited when she needed a break and never once felt annoyed by it. She genuinely cared with making sure she was okay. Shes A-1, alone, in my book for that. However, besides that, she is professional from pre booking to after you leave. I made the next appointment immediately after I left. I will definitely spend my money at this shop. She is worth it. Her art is worth it. I finally found someone to complete the art I want created on my body!!!
