I had my eyebrow pierced by Angelina today and it was a 10/10 experience!! I’ve gone to many other studios for piercings but Black Maple HAS to be the best! Angelina was the sweetest and most kind person and took the time to make sure i was comfortable throughout the entire process, knew everything that was going on, and making the entire experience amazing! Thank you!

We brought my seven-year-old stepdaughter here for getting her ears pierced and had a fabulous experience from start to finish. Staff were very friendly and competent and did not make us feel rushed. My stepdaughter was nervous but the staff member did a really good job with talking her through the process and encouraging her. The whole business appeared very clean and tidy too. Worth the money to get it done with such quality. Would highly recommend!

We took my daughter (7) to get her ears pierced yesterday.Black Maple Piercing gave my daughter the best experience we could have imagined! I had a conch piercing that was done elsewhere that wasn’t healing due to low quality jewelry, and desperately needed a jewelry change to something of higher quality. Eddie was super thorough, explained everything that was happening, and was VERY gentle when handling my cranky piercing- I felt instant relief! Everyone was super friendly and clearly very knowledgeable, and their jewelry selection is awesome. I will never go anywhere else for any piercing needs and I only wish I had found them sooner!

I had my first ever piercings done by Dustin. He is incredibly knowledgeable and professional. I was quite nervous and Dustin really took the time to make me feel comfortable. He was very patient, kind, and understanding. I would highly recommend, and will surely be back!

I went to see Dustin for a couple of cartilage piercings, he did and incredible job and was sooooooo patient with my indecisiveness!!! It’s been a month now and my piercings feel completely healed. My 9-year-old daughter had her ears pierced by Dustin and had the best possible experience. He was patient, kind, and clearly very skilled. I got my ear piercings today with Dustin, literally like 2 hours ago. Best experience and service I’ve had. Dustin was very informative throughout the whole experience which helped my anxiety a lot. The experience was quick but definitely didn’t feel rushed at all. Highly recommend!!

I have had my jewelry changed and downsized by both Whitney and Dustin and have had delightful experiences! They are both very kind and calm. Even though their shops, especially at Dark Harbor, can be very busy, they dont make you feel rushed and really make sure youre happy with the process and result. Excellent service! And theyre both very knowledgeable about piercings and the healing process! My piercings are doing so much better after troubleshooting with Whitney and Dustin. Theyre honestly unmatched in the Portland region (likely further!) and worth a visit.

Place was awesome. My daughter has tried three different times to get her ears pierced and wasnt able to do it. At other shops she was treated as a number and there wasnt much that went into the process of explaining the piercing procedure. At Black Maple we had Angelina, she was incredibly patient, informative, and took the time to explain the entire process to my daughter which made her comfortable throughout and quelled her apprehension. Yes their pricing was higher than alot of other shops, but their service and the way they handled a nervous 7 year old girl showed their dedication to their craft. I would highly recommend this shop and Angelina for any parents with kids wanting a peircing.

I had my vertical labret pierced by Dustin, and I felt so safe and well taken care of! They were clearly educated, and took the time to tell me important info. While talking to their apprentice, they also made it a point to include me in the conversation. I was a little apprehensive since I have only had a septum and ear piercings, but Dustin was so patient with me. Took my daughter to get her ears pierced for the first time. We went in for a consult appt, the piercing appt, and then a follow up appt. Dustin met with us to just talk about the process and answer all of my daughters questions. I loved that he talked TO HER, making sure it was HER choice to get them done. When we came back for her actual piercing he was calm, patient, kind and professional. We were only charged for the piercing appointment. I appreciate the process so much. I will 100% go back to Black Maple for all future piercings.

I got my second lobes and conch done here about 8 weeks ago, and I had such an amazing experience! Whitney is so inviting, so professional, and just made me feel really comfortable. She was especially patient when I was picking out jewelry 😅. I have been to other piercing studios where the piercers have just been so rude and try to get you in and out, but I think since you have to book an appointment here, youre really allotted that time to pick out jewelry, relax, and just have a good time. The only thing I can say is it can be a little pricey depending on what jewelry you pick out, but its all implant grade and so much prettier than a standard piercing studio! Black maple is my new go-to place to get piercings, and definitely my first recommendation to all of my friends! If I decide to get more in the future I will DEFINITELY be going back!

I went with my mom and sister to get piercings done! I got my septum and the others got various ear piercings. We had Angelina as our piercer and she was absolutely amazing! She was so sweet and fun. She was very accommodating and explained the entire procedure to us as she went. She is very knowledgeable about the various anatomy and did excellent on our piercings. Very pleased and would return again for further piercing!

The girl that does the piercing is wonderful. She was thorough and sweet with my daughter. But the business practice at this studio is shady. They said they couldn’t use the 14k gold earrings we brought with us which I understand. However, my daughter picked earrings that were labeled 15 dollars per earring, which should have been 30 dollars. Somehow the 50 dollar piercing fee and the 30 dollar earrings totaled 155 dollars. They very quickly explained that the earrings only include the post and not the bead on top which SHOULD have been explained prior to the piercing. 155 dollars to pierce ears is RIDICULOUS.We won’t be returning.

From the piercers to the apprentices to the front desk staff everyone here is super nice and educated, this was my first time here and I dont think Ive had a better piercing experience. Black Maple, and Whitney in particular, is the official piercer of my entire place of work. We trust no one else with our body mods, and for good reason. Whitney is professional, skilled and is constantly looking for her clients comfort and happiness with their piercings and jewelry. The selection they have is beautiful and constantly expanding. [Black Maple is also neurodivergent and queer friendly for those of us who prefer a comfortable space.] 10/5 stars.

I have been to see Whitney twice now. Once to get a couple of piercings and then to do a downsize and jewelry change of some other piercings. My 17 year old has been begging for a navel piercing for years - i wanted her to have it done professionally (actually I REALLY didn’t want her to have it at all!) and luckily found Black Maple. Whitney was amazing - so welcoming and clearly professional - the shop is inviting and CLEAN - it’s clear she takes pride in what she does and has high standards. She explained everything, and was detailed in what to expect after the piercing as it healed- she offered us to call at any point after the piercing if we had any questions or concerns. The piercing itself was done perfectly and quickly - as a mom I can’t thank Whitney enough for making it a professional yet warm experience. I even had to admit how great it looked (and I’m sure my youngest daughter will be using that against me in a few years when she wants one). I can’t recommend Whitney and Black Maple highly enough- comfortable atmosphere , welcoming vibe, professional, extremely clean space and clearly cares about her clients.

The experience here is one of the most comfortable and fun experiences Ive ever had with body piercing! The space is extremely clean, the decor is fun and the atmosphere puts you at ease. Dustin has done my daith, rook, septum, 2 earlobe recoveries and a genital piercing recovery. He styled the jewelry perfectly, was awesome to talk with, was incredibly clean, knowledgeable, and made sure everything was just right. Im beyond thrilled. I went and got my labret pierced by Angelina and she was more than amazing! i was anxious about the process and the pain and she was so patient, explaining every step of the process so you knew exactly what was going on. i personally wasn’t happy with the placement at first but she was more than happy to re-pierce it and she made the process super easy, least amount of pain as possible and i was super satisfied with the placement after we re-adjusted it. i highly recommend going cause you can stand up for yourself as well as Angelina was super patient and understanding. definitely comin back

My experience at Black Maple was seamless and relaxed, and I was certain I was in the best hands beginning with walking through the door to the end of my experience. I really appreciated the ability to have an extremely sanitary, safe, enjoyable piercing experience. My sole feedback is around the pricing and pricing structure. I am fairly fastidious when planning body modification—and pretty experienced, with numerous tattoos and piercings—and still found myself shocked at the overall cost of the experience. I would recommend that piercings be marked as priced individually on the website/booking platform. I would also recommend that pricing be confirmed up front at the time of the appointment, and that the price of jewelry be listed. I was unaware that having the backs of the jewelry that was installed would accrue an additional cost for jewelry, which wasnt mentioned or listed on the website, either. I definitely recommend Black Maple for anyone looking for an elevated, bespoke, boutique piercing experience.

This is a very clean and beautiful shop! Whitney is excellent: knowledgeable, skilled, and courteous. Shes super easy to talk to and put me at ease (as much as possible) throughout the process.I had an old botched septum piercing from another piercer and Whitney evaluated the scar tissue, gave me tips to reduce the bumps, and was able to work around it without any problems. The only piercer I will go to. Very informative and the only APP piercer in Maine (that I’ve been able to find). Piercings are not something you want to cheap out on. I tried over and over again to find cheaper piercers, and over and over again had to pay twice to have her redo the piercings. Black Maple has an exceptionally clean and calm atmosphere, reasonably priced jewelry, and a precise piercer who provided me with a comfortable experience. Whitney is amazing! I went to her to get a philtrum piercing. It was honestly the most easiest, comfortable piercing experience Ive ever had. I went back in a few days later with some mild concerns, which she immediately addressed. I booked another appointment the following week for a septum piercing! My first time I had my septum done at a different shop, I was really uncomfortable for months after getting it done. My nose was constantly in pain. Its been almost a week since having it re-pierced by Whitney, and I honestly forget I had it done! Absolutely no pain, no discomfort. Nothing. She also upped my bar size on my philtrum when I told her it felt tight. She just put me totally at ease. So glad we have an APP piercer in the state finally!Thanks again Whitney! Whitney was so professional, kind and welcoming! She was able to schedule my husband for a same day appointment later that day following a nightmarish attempt to get pierced in Portland at a tattoo shop. She was willing to peirce his ear lobes with a larger Guage needle and did so with grace, lightness and humor. Although she is located 30 minutes outside of Portland, it is worth the drive to get a peircing done right. And she had lollypops! Black Maple Peircing is our new spot, cant recommend enough!!

I had gone to so many piercer’s wanting the smiley piercing but everyone said they couldn’t do it and I was ready to give up till I came here, not only could Dustin do it but he and the shop was extremely nice I have decent amount of piercings and I can say full heartedly this is the only place who will have my business for piercings, beside the fact of how nice the whole team is there the shop is clean and beautiful in side and very welcoming if your thinking about going here I definitely recommend I’ve told some of my friends to get their piercings from here and they all loved it and said the same thing that they loved the crew and the shop.

Black Maple Piercing is new to the Windham area and is absolutly what the area needed! Whitneys space is clean, inviting and inclusive. She is genuine and walked me through all steps of the process. I went in to have jewlrey swapped out and even despite some difficulties with the old jewlrey that I got from another shop, she was able to get it done and was kind and patience with it. I even was able to get a rook piercing and she talked me through each step and how to care for the piercing. This is not a place youre gonna want to pass over!
