Yorktown Tattoo

I am so happy with my experience. I’m already planning to go back one more time before I leave the area. I called ahead to confirm walk-in availability, friendly customer service over the phone and in person. I originally went in with a simply request of touching up a name on my thumb and ended up going through with a touch up on my mandala. My artist was Mike, experienced artist, he really brought my tattoo back to life I told them it looks better than I remember the original! He gave great tips for the perfect outcome to keep symmetry in the piece. Clean shop and all of the artists were easy to talk, made me feel comfortable while there. If you’re in the area I would definitely recommend stopping by for services 😇

Came in looking to get a walk in, my man Jesse was waiting in the lobby and helped me bring my idea to life. I initially came in to get one tattoo just but ended up asking Jesse if I could squeeze in the other one. He was so understanding and enthusiastic about doing the second one and worked with me on the price. We had a great talk as well, will def be coming back in the future when i want more work done.

I called Yorktown Tattoo to possibly do a walk in tattoo. I was told to come over and go over the custom tattoo I was thinking of. Doug assisted me and helped me flesh out the rough idea of what I had in mind for it. He was very patient with my constant tweaks and changes to the design. He even suggested several suggestions on the design which I took.Needless to say he created and successfully created/applied the tattoo I wanted and more. This wasn’t my go to place, I decided to go somewhere closer to home for a more small piece.I know where I’m going for my next one.

The war eagle did my side of the hand tattoo. very professional and the quality was top notch. will definitely be coming back for more

Probably the worst tattoo experience of my life....Jesse or Chessie? Im not really sure, he never introduced himself, did my tattoo after someone else came up and talked to me....it was a game of musical artists. The first guy couldnt figure out what I wanted so he passed me off to a second guy that overheard the conversation and amazingly came up with a simple, straight forward design that I was looking for. I should have walked out to be perfectly honest. Sanitation was an issue (not wearing gloves while setting up, opening needles without gloves...etc) and then when the piece was finished he slapped a bandage on with PAINTERS TAPE and told me to leave it on all day. I took two steps and it fell off. Against the artists advice I put saniderm on it (that works for me and I have extensive tattoo work) but for some reason the artist argued with me about it. Typical old school mentality across the board and not at all the experience a paying customer should have to deal with. I would not recommend this shop to women seeking a safe space to get art. I couldnt deal with the eyes that were rolled over a simple request to change a design that I have to live with for the rest of my life. I gave two stars for the simple fact that Jesse or Chessie had a steady hand and was actually willing to work with me.

Mike was amazing! He listened, was excited, and friendly. He explained everything and didnt rush. He did an amazing job on my tattoo and I would absolutely recommend him and this shop! Adam did my husbands tattoo and he also did a fantastic job! Were both very happy and will absolutely be back soon to continue what we started!

Same thing here, Jessie. super unprofessional I dont know about the other artists but AVOID this guy. He talk down on every design we came up with, and Way over changed for what we got.

I got my first tattoo here yesterday, and the entire experience was fantastic. Adam listened to what I wanted, drew it up, and did an excellent job. The guys made me feel welcome and even introduced me to a few new bands. If I wasn’t moving, I would definitely go get the larger piece I want with them.

Got my rook and 2nd holes pierced. Such a quick and fun experience!

I had some touch up done and love the results. Ill definitely return for my next tattoo.

I had a blast here. The entire staff were friendly and fun. We just sat laughing about things as they worked. It was a great day. Lillian aka Honey Badger is an amazing artist who has added to my family drawn tattoo like no other could. Each animal was drawn by a family member and Lillian has been there every step of the way to complete this tattoo. The Dallas star is a cover up of a tattoo (smaller Dallas star) that some other tattoo artist majority screwed up on. I cant thank Lillian enough at how she overwhelmed my heart by covering up the only tattoo I ever regretted.❤️. Seriously if you want a great tattoo in a fun and non intimating atmosphere consider Yorktown tattoo. They are AWESOME!

Great place! The tattoo artists here are awesome and do great work. My two sons and I have gone here several times for our tattoos. Always nice, affordable, and attention to detail. You will not be disappointed.

Doug Kahler, has done several of my pieces and he is an amazing tattoo artist. Very talented and easy to work with. No matter the size of the piece, he is very informative, patient and friendly. I trust him so much, that he did my daughter’s first tattoo and she has been going to him, ever since! Go see Doug K., you won’t be disappointed!

Got 2 tattoos done by Doug, and 2 by Jesse and all of them are fantastic. They’ve all healed tremendously, and to this day still look good. Yorktown tattoo has a very welcoming environment, Doug and Jesse were both very fun to talk to. Also, good prices. Got my first tats there and my most recent!

Went to see Doug to do my wrist tattoo, was very pleased with his work. I wasnt sure of what colors to use so I left it up to Doug to decide, of course he did a great job picking out the colors. I get lots of compliments on it and will be going back soon to get another one from him.

I’ve had multiple pieces done by Doug. I’ve followed him wherever he went. So far I have 5 pieces done by him. Even after 5 years the quality is still great. Solid lines and healed very nicely. If I’m ever back in Virginia I’m definitely booking another session!

Doug Kahler has done several of my tattoos. He is very light handed and does clean lines with even shading and blending. I traveled 14.5 hours to see him to get my last tattoo.Go see him, you wont be disappointed.

Had my scorpion tattoo done by Jesse. He also did my boyfriends police badge number on him. Jesse was very professional, friendly and informative on skin of color as we discussed doing color on the darker skin tone. We both were 100 percent satisfied with our tattoos and his service as a whole. I would definitely recommend this shop and Jesse to anyone looking for tattoo needs.

Went here as a walk in and was helped right away. Mike was hands down an awesome guy and artist! My son was with me and he carried on a full convo with us the entire time! I will from now on only be going to him for my work! Definitely recommend!

Doug does amazing work time and time again. Been here a few times and certainly recommend. Very experienced staff, clean establishment, with a positive atmosphere. It feels like what a tattoo shop is suppose to be.

I got my first tattoo done today by Mike Wilcher, and he was great. I would refer him to anybody who wants a tattoo done. He is very nice and professional. But I liked the way that he showed me the sterile equipment before he opened it, and he showed me the needles too and explained to me which each one is for and stuff.

My first tattoo here was wonderful, but that was a few years ago. I have been trying to get a tattoo for 3 weeks now. The first time we had to reschedule was entirely my fault, I had a sunburn. But the following two weekends they cancelled on me last minute. I had to cancel on my childcare last minute because of this. Not at all professional and makes me think they simply want to brush off smaller tattoos for more expensive ones.

Doug did an amazing job on all of my tattoos... He is very knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable!! Highly recommend!!

I got a tattoo by Doug Kahler. It was probably the best experience Ive had getting a tattoo. He did a good job and I could barely feel where he was working. I highly recommend.

Mike was extremely unprofessional and rude . We simply asked for him to look at our tattoo and to see if it was something he was good at because we know certain artists do better at different types of work . He told us if he has to look at it then it was a waste of his time and to find someone else . I’ve gotten over 10 tattoos from Larry in that shop I love Larry’s work but the people he hires in that shop the way they talk to customers is extremely unprofessional and we will be spending our money somewhere else where they are willing to at least look at the tattoo .

I travel all over the world 100% of the time and Ive gotten tattoos in some of the best and worst places on earth (When I say worst, I mean that. If you know you know.)In the event youre like me, maybe made a bad decision, or two, or three, or whatever, Dougs got you. Maybe she left you and Josephines name on your neck wasnt the safest long term bet. Maybe Mama turned on you. Maybe little Tommy ended up not being your kid. Maybe that burnt Styrofoam and shampoo ink you got done in prison with a Bic spring looks like grayscale, whatever the decision, whatever the circumstance, no matter how many times you make the same stupid decision, you need a cover-up and this is where you go.Dont need the cover-up, made all the right decisions, all the kids are yours, mama was good to you and your wife is still around? You just need that absolute smoke job of a tattoo that includes your favorite John Deere mower, King James Bible, Henry long rifle and your favorite Bassett Hound running a Buck shadowed in camo and the crown of thorns? Dougs got you. Doug Kahler has done thousands of dollars worth of tattoos for me and I wouldnt go to anyone else anywhere else in the world. I still come home to get my ink done whether I NEED it or not. 😉

Great shop . I can’t speak for the other artists . I don’t recommend going to “ Shawn “ if you want your tatto to ever get done . He is very unprofessional, great artist but very unprofessional. Has been a little over 6 months since my first session . I’ve been on top of him on the progress with my tattoo and he never reached out . He would always have an excuse why he couldn’t get the drawing done for the rest of my tattoo . I finally showed up in person and as always made excuses for not doing . But would “schedule me “ for a month later . You would think I would be priority since I been waiting for over 6 months . Needs to say i have a undone tattoo that no other artist will touch cause it’s not their work . I normally don’t write reviewers but this is just very unprofessional smh

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTSaturday June 19th right when the shop opened i spoke with Adam about getting work done. We settled on an appointment next day at 1300. I gave him a $40 deposit. The very next day 40min before the appointment he texted me to cancel due to fathers day. Fine, not a big deal..Rescheduled for tuesday 530pm. Once again he didnt show, i even texted him around noon to verify the appointment to which i never received a reply.Now being ghosted twice Adam made ZERO effort to reschedule. Any attempt to text him from sunday to tuesday resulted in responses many hours later or no response at all.On tuesday when Adam didnt show i spoke with Mike. He heard me out and offered to do the tattoo and honor the $40 deposit. I showed Mike a general idea of what i wanted on my foot. Mike said he would draft up a design and have it ready by saturday. Cool, made an appointment for the following Saturday. Saturday comes and i text Mike to set up a time. Mike informs me that Adam is at work today.I show up and Adam acts as though he is still doing my tattoo. Absolutely not, why would i let him tattoo me after the disrespect he showed me? I confront Adam about the piss poor treatment as a customer. Thankfully, I was able to get my $40 back even though he had to ask his coworkers for money to pay it back. Also if you read other reviews apparently Adam has a history of doing this! Wish i had read the reviews firstNow, i approach Mike to hand him the $40 for designing the tattoo. He now tells me that he did not design the tattoo and also tells me that the location on my foot doesnt hold ink well. Now i wonder why he even said what he did on Tuesday? He knew the location on my foot on tuesday...so during this week long event getting the run around and lied to by the employees at Yorktown tattoo i was able to walk into AMERICAN CLASSIC TATTOOOn 4 separate occasions and got 4 different tattoos spending a total of $1200 . If i was the owner of this company and found out my employees lost $1200 in work to a competitor i would be looking for new artists.

Every time I look at my tattoo, I smile. Larry did an amazing job on it and made me feel at home in the studio. The artist make you feel like family and this can be seen in the time and effort they put into the art they create. I will definitely be going here for more tattoos in the future.

I hate to leave negative reviews, however after mulling this over for a long time I feel I need to. I was in Yorktown tattoo in June, cant remember the guys name but he tattooed a cloud and mountain background behind a pinup girl on my arm. The reason for a 2 is the guys at the shop were so nice, ordered pizza and fed me while I was getting tattooed. My issue- the tattoo I asked for seemed to be outside the skill set of my artist. I saw other work he did and it looked great, the shading on mine was inconsistent in places that didnt look correct, lines are not crisp and nice and I was grossly under estimated on price. I do understand that an estimate is a rough price, however I was estimated at taking 2.5 hours and $250, had I known that the tattoo would take 6 hours of actual ink time, not including draw time and breaks, I wouldnt have done it that day. The artist was nice enough to cut the price off since he was so far off, but thats not an experience that anyone wants and to still be almost double the estimated price wasnt cool.Unfortunately I wont be back to Yorktown tattoo, and would recommend others to verify that the requested tattoo is within the artists ability. Also unfortunately Ill be paying to have someone else attempt to fix the tat as best as possible.

I made an appointment with Adam for a tattoo. He pushed it back a day. Then the same day he pushed it back an hour. Then I was there and he said he was not feeling good. I wasted a week and my entire day today. Most unprofessional experience Ive ever had. Quick update, I let them keep my deposit because Adam said he was sick, but was at work, during a pandemic. Very scary.

At first my thoughts about going to a private studio instead of a street shop were undecided. Upon arriving and seeing the tattoo room i was relieved its not unlike any tattoo room Ive seen in bigger studios. I was greeted with dinner that Brian had just made. You cant get that at a street shop! Once on the table getting ready to get started the first thing I noticed was his tattoo license hanging on the wall with his Red Cross certificates. Once started on the tattoo I noticed how much Brian was devoted to my tattoo time and the lack of interruptions that are always accompanied at street tattoo shops. Brian also seemed more inclined to give me extra time in the chair for my tattoo because there wasnt anyone waiting to get tattooed. I have to say my overall experience in private studio was amazing and I cant recommend it enough. Ive been tattooed by Brian in street shop as well but I prefer getting tattooed from him at his private studio.

The artist do amazing work but they also can be unprofessional, myself and a couple of my friends have had many reschedules or no shows with some artists. i probably wont come back because of it which sucks cause i love my tattoos from them

This place is outstanding , by far the best tattoo shop i have ever stepped in!!! Not only are they all very talented , but there customer service is amazing. They defiantly know how to make some one feel right at home. not only did i pick to get a tattoo on the most busiest day OF THE WEEK , it was Friday the 13thhhhh , while we waited they offered me and my friend pizza and games to play. The owner even fixed a small crappy tattoo for me once he was done with the piece i was getting. LARRY IS AMAZINGGGGG. Me and my roommate have handed business cards to all our family and friends , we highly recommend yall checking them out.

Got a tattoo there a few months back and they were not friendly or welcoming at all. I got a small tattoo that meant a lot to me but they made me feel absolutely stupid for wanting the tattoo I got. It was a small symbol for anxiety and depression and they chuckled and thought it was idiotic. I left feeling extremely embarrassed and I would never return or recommend anyone to go here. I also spoke about this with a co worker who said they were definitely not nice people and she was made to feel unwanted as well by them.

Doug is a genius at putting together different ideas and making my vision come alive. His work is phenomenal and I won’t go to anyone else.

My husband and I got a couples tatoos, they did an amazing job! Very friendly, took their time and the shop itself was relaxing. Definitely would recommend going to them. Price was also good.

This was the last place i stopped in about 2 months ago. I met Shawn. Of all the people i talked to that day, he was the only one to hand me his business card as opposed to the other places telling me to grab one on the way out. I showed and told him what i wanted with a vision in mind. He then turned it into a work of heart that means so much to me. Of all the people i talked to that day. He was the only one professional enough to actually shake my hand and introduce his self. Will definitely be going back, and recommend him to others.

Have been here twice and both experiences were very positive! The entire place was very clean, the artists are both friendly and very professional. They even stayed past closing to finish my tattoo. Will be back for more!

I seriously recommend Yorktown tattoo. I had Nate as my artist and he did incredible with crazy detail on a baseball jersey on my back. He’s a crazy nice guy and cool as hell. Great vibe and great prices!

Elbi has done all my tatts and he is a wonderful artist very respectful, neat and clean which is the most important thing when it comes to tattoos.. And TBH all of the guys at yorktown Tattoo are cool, laid back, and the shop in general just has cool vibes. 👌🏼

I waited a week for a tattoo just to be let down by a childish artist who was upset because I did not like what he drew out .. mind you he drew it up last minute and gave no updates through out the week .. I do not recommend going here as I saw they can’t handle when they get there feelings hurt and can’t handle doing things professionally ! Really ripping up the picture in front of me is supposed to be a statement ... it just says a lot about your character !

Stopped in for a Friday the 13th flash. The guy that actually gave my tattoo wasn’t being super helpful. And notice the picture of the tattoo. Shouldn’t coloring in the lines be a prerequisite to being a tattoo artist?

Went in to get a custom piece done. Artist helped me with my ideas and turned them into reality. The most important thing to the artists there is to show up on time and/or not waste their time.

Mike has done a custom tattoos for me and that you Larry has done a book tattoo for being an equal talk to you but there are amazing

We came on Friday the 13th. There was seven of us and the artists did a great job on every single tattoo!

Artist canceled on me the day before the appointment. After it was scheduled a month prior. Unprofessional is an understatement.
