My first experience here was great I went on a Tuesday so not as busy, they opened at noon and I got there a little around 12:30 and I waited about a half hour which isnt bad and they drew up m tattoo 3 different styles depending on my price range which was great, I believe I had the owner that did my tattoo, it only took him maybe 45 minutes if that, he was very polite and quick at his job. usually my body isnt to good with color but I figured give this place a try and if it lasts I will keep on coming back, the service was fast and quick.

My daughter and I stopped in to get matching tattoos for her birthday. They took us without qn appointment very quickly. Kyle Jeffas did an amazing job with our idea and and got on it right away. We were both very happy with the results and will be returning! Definitely recommend!

Go here to get pierced. I walked in for a Christina piercing and was nervous about the piercer because it was my first time at this piercing/tattoo shop and what I was getting was more intimate. However, it was a nice, comforting vibe once I met my piercer. He was cool, chill, and made me as comfortable as possible. It WAS 150 for my piercing however it was worth it due to the jewelry being greater quality.

Got my ears pierced and their piercer is so kind and obviously knows what he’s doing! Extremely friendly and really makes you feel safe and calm. Really highly recommended!

For his birthday, my 16 year old son want him and I to get tattoos together. I had tried various tattoo shops, but everyone was booked up. This place does walk-ins, first come first served. Thankfully we were the second set of people in the doors the morning we went. It filled up quick. This was our first tattoos, and if we get more, will definitely go back here. Super professional but relaxed atmosphere. We were both highly satisfied. Will recommend this shop to anyone looking for some ink!

Clean shop, walk-ins are done in a timely manner. Ive gotten walk-in tattoos with Ana and pierced by Cheeze. Both were amazingly professional and make sure you are super comfortable.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I knew 2 people who had gotten tattoos done here before, and they referred me. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and the tattoos have turned out better than expected. I have gotten 2 tattoos done here because of my experience here! As people have mentioned before, they take walk-ins, so the earlier you get there to opening, the less wait time. Also, their prices are VERY reasonable for the time and artistry!

Got snake bite piercings done, and the piercer was more than friendly and very helpful as this was my first time getting any piercings done. Felt comfortable the whole time and he double and triple checked with me that the placement is what I wanted before proceeding. It was very cleanly as well. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Weve got most of our tattoos done here been going to them since they were on the other side of the bridge. Everyone in the shop is friendly and professional and we are very pleased with the work weve had done. Already looking forward to our next visit!

If you want great work by the best in the business, this is your place to go!! Timmy has done some of my tats, as has Steve, and Danny has done all my husbands. Never disappointed!

My friend and I walked in for cartilage piercings. We were served immediately. The sign-in process was comprehensive and painless as a consumer. The piercer had a steady presence and made it as painless as possible! Would go again for additional piercing and would consider getting tatted here!

They were super sweet, clean, and quick with this tat. i love it! my only complaint might be that it was kinda pricey and they had told me one price prior to getting the tattoo and then after my tattoo they told me that it was going to cost more. i definitely recommend if you have the cash!

I was a walk in, they took me in under five minutes. it was a very fast and simple process. i got pierced by cheeze, he was sooo good and he knows exactly what to say to ease any anxiety. he was so quick and patient!! please ask for cheeze if you’re getting a piercing :)

All the birds for my family Steve Lear has done. Hes an amazing artist and this only took me an hour and a half. Always have had a very good experience here and Ive been going for years now.

These were suppose to be our sisterhood tattoos mines purple and done so deep that or looks like this now and Im in pain & my sisters dont even have the heart colored in all the way & the design lines arent thick. They were rude to us when we went back a week later to talk to them about these. So went to a Doctor on the purple tattoo and it was cellulitis from being overworked and Too Deep

Great place to get tattoos! Very friendly and helpful. The tattoo artist are amazing. They do such good work. And move in a good timely manner! The shop was very very clean as well.

I wouldn’t even give them a 1 star. I went there today to get a tattoo for my birthday. A gentleman who works there jumped in on a conversation I was having with my fiancé and was extremely rude to me bc I said I liked a different artist better than the one I had today. That artist was his nephew. I was so upset I walked out. Troy Mort did my first tattoo with them and was great however i will never go back there!

I love this place! Such a friendly and helpful staff! Ive gotten 4 done by walk in and a 5th large leg piece done in separate appointments. Steven Lear is a genius. I tell him what I want and he makes it 100% better every time. I highly recommend Railroad City and Steven Lear.

From the moment I moved to the area, I’ve heard nothing but amazing commentary and recommendations to see Corey here. I had two minimal words less than 2” each and as a walk in shortly before close I had no expectations other than to go talk to someone about pricing and scheduling availability. I was unfortunately greeted by Ana, who was very short and seemed like I was wasting her time. She asked me to write down what I wanted and asked about placement, all the while I was trying to make lighthearted small talk to ease the unnecessary tension in her demeanor. I even told her I knew it was close to closing time and understood that this was not something I needed done a today. Trying to be as understanding as I possible. She asked what font style I preferred, not being offered with any visual options or recommendations, I tried to articulate what I wanted to which she rolled her eyes and looked at the other shop worker like I was absolutely dumb. As a heavy lily tattooed person, tattooed by many artist, have never in my life been treated so poorly or felt so much unwarranted judgement. From one artist to another, it’s so incredibly important to have open communication and conversation with every client, no matter who walks through your shop door. It’s your responsibility as an artist to guide your client, make thoughtful recommendations and most importantly feel a sense of trust under your hand. The meaning behind a tattoo is just as important as the artist and the experience you have with them. Needless to say, I ended up leaving based on this interaction and how this obviously wasn’t a good fit. Also the pricing is a little outrageous. 2, 2” words for $150-$200. Definitely really hurt and disappointed. Hopefully this is a reminder to the artists there that every interaction is an opportunity to display your professionalism in this field. Your portfolio and talent may get you clients but experiences and word of mouth can make or break your career

My daughter got her first tattoo, my niece got a tattoo & I got my nose pierced. Great prices & great work and atmosphere.

Got my first ever facial piercing here. They pierced my septum. In n out in 10 min, not to mention i didnt feel a thing either. I also appreciate their patience as i have come in dozens of times for replacement septum ring balls which they always gave to me for free

This was the only place I would go for my tattoos, only one person I trusted, but I cannot in good conscience recommend going here especially with children. Do not take your children here, its not a safe place for any CHILD under 18!!!!

They are amazing! I walked in with no appointment and walked out within an hour with my tongue repierced and my very first tattoo!! Ana is so incredibly knowledgeable! She kept me calm and explained everything while patiently answering all of my first timer questions! I cant wait to go back!!

They were very polite and respectful. Tattoo artist Ana drew me up an amazing tattoo and did the most amazing work. She was very nice laid back and cool. 10/10 would visit again. Theyre the best!

My 10yo got her ears pierced here recently. They did an amazing job and their rates are reasonable.

The person who did my belly button piercing was so nice! He made sure that I wasnt in to much pain and he took his time to make it look nice. They also where so quick to get me in and get my piercing done and made sure all my questions where answered and very very polite about it. I hope to come get my nose done soon too!

I was tattooed by Alex end of June. I got a quote broken into two parts above my knees. Day two I was unhappy with the tattoo itself, was told I could return once they healed for a revision. During healing it became apparent how bad they were, ink came out, zero consistencies between letters, the spacing is inconsistent and placement is skewed, and one leg sits 1/2in higher than the other. It was agreed with Alex they were bad tattoos. I will make known I did receive a refund, but with zero explanation as to what went wrong. I asked for a refund and was agreed with and sent on my way.Extremely disappointed in the work from such a high rated shop

I went in for a scheduled laser removal. I was so scared but Cheeze is very knowledgeable and explained everything in detail and it put my mind to ease a lot. He was also very kind and accommodating.

Railroad City is really the only place to go in my opinion if you want a tattoo or piercing!! I get all of my work done here! However what really makes them awesome is I had my septum piercing done in California and i was changing my hoop and i couldn’t get the jewel back in. I called these guys up and they said yeah come in we can help you out. I get there and within 5 minutes they had my hoop back in!!! Really awesome that they help you out regardless where you got the work done because most places don’t do that! ... cough cough... like iconic ink in the mall... For sure Railroad City Tattoo is the best place in Altoona to go! Highly recommended!

I was able to get a tattoo from Steven Lear and I have to say he was amazing . He took his time and made sure it was perfect . The colors turn out great that he picked . He explain what I should do . I will definitely be getting more from him . And everyone is so nice there the lady at the front was so friendly and you don’t find that everywhere . So thank you guys at railroad city

The guy doing the piercings was super experienced. He made the job quick, easy, and relatively painless.The care advice was also thorough and understandable.Entire building was super clean 👌

Cheese is an excellent piercer. Hes done two of my step daughters piercings and has always been wonderful with how he treats his customers. The rest of the staff.... mmmmm not so much.

I was turned down at another shop for a septum piercing. I went in and had no problem getting set up. Everyone was great, my piercer was excellent and I will definitely be going back when I have the urge for another piercing.

New to PA and wasnt sure where to go. I decided on Railroad City alhough busy (Friday at open ) they were able to accommodate my walk in piercings. At check in was informed of a small wait (15 mins). Very accurate window.Cheese is very knowledgeable and professional, yet made you feel like more than just another number. Walked in with an issue related to forward helix piercing closing over that was done at a shop out of town . Was greeted by piercer Cheese who took exceptional care and time and replaced jewelry . Best customer service I have received in a while !! Thank you so much I will be back :)

Got a tattoo last December and the staff was amazing and super chill. Just got my tongue pierced there today and the guy that did it was really nice and helpful. Barely hurt as well! :)

In august i got my eyebrow pierced and a hoop put in my nose piercing. i heard good things about this piercer and yet, my eyebrow piercing was botched and he didnt put the nose hoop all the way in, so my nostril piercing closed up. literally didnt even insert a NOSE HOOP properly. 3 stars only because my tattoo experience was good, artist could have been friendlier though, but 0 stars for the piercings.

Ana did a great job on my sons first tattoo.. She was very steady with her lines&detail in a situation where my son was shaking and shivering badly due to the temp in the tattoo place was frigid 🥶.. price was reasonable and staff very friendly.. Clean shop but the location has some sketchy areas nearby and only ONE way streets which was extremely confusing to me since I had never been there before in Downtown Altoona there isnt many places to eat, and we had a 1.5hr wait till our appt commenced so all and all 5⭐⭐⭐🤩

Called in there 2 times on different weeks calling to see if I was able to get a piercing that day. They said yes we can take walk ins. I get there and they said the piercer isn’t in today. On both occasions.

I have had multiple pieces of work done at this establishment. Great work, very clean and professional. I’m very partial to 1 artist, but I also like all my work done by the same artist. I am very much anticipating going for another piece.

Got a small paw print behind my ear. The tattoo was really quick and everyone was really nice. The price was $100 which I thought was quite high for a small tattoo.

I got my first tattoo here. They showed me the design, and allowed me to make changes with no problem. Everyone is so nice and talented.

I had to go to state college to get it fixed to even make it look decent. He was extremely rushed and EXTREMELY rude. I guess he did it incorrectly as well according to the man who fixed it and made it so much better.
