It was our first experience at Lucky Gal and I was extremely impressed! Most tattoo and piercing places I have been to just seem dirty. However I was pleasantly surprised walking in to LG. We were greeted with a smile and very informative and helpful employee who got us on the list to have multiple piercings done on our kids. Macie did an absolutely wonderful job, making the process very comfortable and gave us a lot of advice on how to care for the piercings. All in all we had a total of 4 piercings done, which were very affordable, even on two kids, and were out the door within 40 minutes! Even our kids were so impressed with everything especially after having such a terrible experience at another place in town. 10/10 recommend and will definitely be back!!!

I cannot recommend Macee for laser tattoo removal enough! She is kind, professional, knowledgeable, and very responsive. My only regret is not starting the process sooner.The shop itself is very clean with a friendly and welcoming staff!

I made an appointment with Ricky. He was incredibly friendly and collaborative. Although I had a financial commitment come up that prevented me from going through with the tattoo, he was very helpful in getting me off the schedule and even offered to refund the part of my deposit that wasn’t part of the required amount. Very professional shop, highly recommend.

Very impressed with this Tattoo shop. The artist stayed late to get eight of us in for an in memory Tattoo, same day with short notice. The artist was able to take our lost loved ones handwriting and replicate it to create unique tattoos. Another artist ended up helping to get us all done. We are appreciative of how nice and friendly everyone that worked there was. Definitely would recommend them. The wife and I made a last minute appointment with Amy and she gave us our most memorable tat so far. She was awesome and everything was very clean and professional. We will definitely be coming back for more tattoos.

If I could give a million stars I would. We took my step daughter to get her ears pierced and the girls who did them were amazing, professional and set an amazing tone. They were so welcoming to my step daughter who was already nervous and made her so much more comfortable. Thank you guys so much! We will be back!

Only place Ive ever gotten tattooed but its hard to picture me going anywhere else. The shop is clean, the people are chill, the artists are extremely impressive. Every tattoo Ive gotten has turned out amazingly. Ill be coming back very soon for another!

They didn’t clean the earring before putting it in. I also asked if it was surgical steel twice since I’m allergic to all other metals and two women assured me it was. It turned green after a few weeks and gave me bad swelling. Clearly was nickel, copper, or brass not surgical steel. I will not be coming back!

Tanner is a great tattooist. He did one for me a couple years ago and going back for more

Walked in and was fortunate to get paired with Bailey. She listened to what I wanted and made good suggestions about the parts I was unsure about. Very professional, love the way my tat looks. Would highly recommend and will go there again when I decide what I want next.

The people at Lucky Gal are really respectful, fun and are great at their jobs. The place is always clean and making appointments is easy. One thing I really love is that they have clear directions and summaries of what will happen when you get a piercing/tattoo and how to take care of it after you leave.Tanner is the best tattoo artist I’ve had the pleasure of doing business with. I’ve gotten two tattoos done by him and both times the process was super easy and stress free. I gave him a few reference photos and he came up with his own versions for me to choose from that were unique to his style and still followed what I asked for. Both of my tattoos came out exactly like the drawings he made and have held up well for over a year. I will be coming back again over and over to get my tattoos here.

10/10 recommend!I have had about 6 or so sessions so far for removing 3 different tattoos. My tattoo are definitely fading and I’m so excited!!! I think it’ll take somewhere around 10 sessions before they’re completely gone (which is what I was told in my consultation so that’s fine!) it does hurt but depending on how big your tat is it is really quick so I don’t think it’s bad at all. There’s also numbing creams you can use if you have a low pain tolerance.Macee is amazing also! She’s so sweet and very informative! I absolutely recommend going to her for your tattoo removal needs!

My husband and I took a print of our dogs paw to have tattooed. Galen was our artist and he worked up exactly what we wanted. He did a great job and we are both very happy with our new tattoos. Lucky Gal was recommended to us by a friend and were so glad we went there. The parlor is clean, the prices are reasonable and the service is outstanding. We will definitely return.

Wonderful experience. My friend and I were walk ins and got in with in a few hours, which is great since they are typically booked out weeks in advance. Love my spontaneous tattoo! Lucky gal is my go to! The artist are always so friendly and supportive. I have gotten three tattoos from here and each time they have been magnificent! I also have received a piercing from here and they made sure I was comfortable and helped me be calm when getting it. I went to the Ankeny location yesterday and had Amy give me some beautiful birth flowers representing my six kids, of which, she is my oldest. She did an amazing job!! She isnt heavy handed and her lines are very clean. The shop itself is very clean and they are a very respectable and professional.

Went to get my septum taken out today, just a simple one with spikes since i usually struggle to do it myself. was charged $10 for the service even tho it only took a couple seconds. if i was informed ahead of time about the price it would’ve been better but i wasn’t told about the cost of it until after. never in my life have i ever paid to have a piercing taken out. i was not getting jewelry put in either just simply getting it taken out. i’ve gotten piercings taken out here before but i’ve never ever been charged for it, here or at other places. not cool.

Mike and McKenzie were super friendly and chill people! My friend and I both went there for the first time and we were helped pretty fast. Both were very nice and funny people. My friend and I had a good time getting tattooed and pierced. We shall be back again!

Id just come in to do a consultation and get an idea for pricing but my sister convinced me to say screw it and get it done, so alas, my first tattoo began. The lady who did it was extremely friendly and explained all my annoying questions. Went at a perfect speed so it actually wasnt painful what so ever. Her name is Mckenzie, since my sister really like her line work, I went ahead and paid for my sister to get the matching one right after me. Extremely happy with how.everything turned out.

Chance was accommodating and professional, and polite. He took some very broad ideas we had and made them into tattoos that we LOVE. He explained aftercare to us (it was our first time) and gave advice on products to use. His lines are so clean and he answered all of our questions. The pain was very minimal. Id like to add that his taste in music is 👌👍👏 We will absolutely be back. 😊

Took our 5 yr old to the ankeny location today to get her ears pierced. She was very excited but also a little nervous. McKenzie did an amazing job and was so quick! After a few ‘“ow ow ow’s,” it was all done! She’s so excited and has been showing everyone. Other patrons and the tattoo artists were very welcoming which I think also helped a lot. Thanks so much!

Came for a walk-in the day after my 18th birthday to get a memorial rose tattoo. Cait-O was super super nice. I showed her 2 different pictures to collide together to make what I wanted and she made it perfect. She gave me different options to choose from for the font of the name I was getting. She gave me her input on sizing so it would look as best as possible. I originally didn’t want a bunch of color on the rose part but she specializes in color so she asked me if she could do something and I let her. But she still respected my wishes and kept it very minimal color and it looked amazing. The line work was incredible, it didn’t hurt as bad as I thought it was going to, she let my friends come back with me and was super cool with everything. The tattoo was so perfect and it was such a great way to honor my sister. Everyone I showed loved it my mom almost cried when she saw it because she loved it so much. My friend just got a tattoo here and my grandma and mom plan on coming here to get a tattoo as well. Thank you Cait-O for the amazing tattoo.

Absolutely outstanding experience! Mike did excellent work, I enjoyed meeting and talking to everyone in the shop! If you want a great tattoo I highly recommend this location but please respect the shops time too. These people are talented and worth the effort to plan and schedule your appointment!

The arist didnt know what I meant by celtic, which is very odd. The initial conversation included a $50 non refundable deposit to hold an appointment 2 months from now, no matter if you cancel 2 weeks ahead of time. No refund. In addition they want to finalize the tattoo the day of and draw it on a location of your body you cant see or evaluate if you want it. They said quote Dont over think your tattoo ... Im sorry I want to know whats going on my body b4 you dig in.. Btw they have a min purchase amount of $90, no matter how simple or short time it takes..these are things that you only find out if you stop in. Not that they are wrong but it helps to be informed. Hope this helps your tattoo shop choice. This relates to the Ankeny location, not sure about the others.

After 18 years of getting tattoos...Ive never had a better experience. Im not the easiest client, and Chris was patient and compassionate. His work is beautiful, and Ill never get tattooed by anyone else ever again. Thank you Chris. Beautiful work. I went to Charlie to get my daith pierced. He was very friendly and super attentive. He even gave me some fruit gummies when I got pale and dizzy after the procedure and made sure I was good to go before letting me get up to leave.

Easy to talk to about the tattoo design I wanted. And even though I had to reschedule the coloring (cuz I reached my pain limit) they were cool about it. At least while I was still in the shop...I deserved it though. Going back as soon as they think its been long enough.

My ear closed up after 16 years. I called and asked if I could come in and they said I did not need an appointment since it would be so quick. They got me in right away quickly pierce my ear. They did not charge but I left a tip. They were quick efficient and friendly.

I had good experiences with this place before when I was getting my first tattoo Im 19 now and decided to put a deposit down for another one well I went back to the shop to get my tattoo the date of the appointment and only when I went in did they ever announce that I needed ID , however they did not tell me this when I first went into schedule the appointment And took my deposit without refunding it

The guy that pierced my nose on East University pierced through my nose and the skin below my nose, then he pulled the needle back out of my nose. I was bleeding in my nose and the skin below my nose. After we got the bleeding to subside he said he would pierce it for half price. I said no thanks and left in tears. I’ve had my nose pierced five times on the right side, this time I was getting the left side pierced, so I know what to expect, this was a horrible experience.

A very fun experience. Not only was the artist smart and knew his stuff about tattoos but it was a good ass time! Highly recommend in Ankeny or Des Moines! Make sure you can handle some sarcasm though ;)

This review is a bit late but still is necessary, a year ago my girlfriend went into this shop to get her first tattoo done on her side. Two birds in memory of two who have passed away. Her tattoo was done by what she was told was a temp/in training guy, the one who did the tattoo did it sloppily leading to a tattoo that she feels ashamed of and doesn’t like she will be getting it covered up soon. The process was overly painful as well as disappointing. I am not sure how the rest of the artists are but still allowing an amateur who messed up the tat do it is wrong as well as unprofessional.

I got tatoo laser removal there and it did absolutely nothing they said 1-2 sessions and I totally wasted my money. I have photos to prove it. Not one shade lighter zero results.

I by no means am an newbie to getting ink. So when I was told that a piece would be 100 bucks. The guy was rude when I asked him what size would it be and couldnt tell me just that price varries on size and had the attitude of dont waist my time. Work on your customer service and explain things better.
