Rogers Tattooing & Body Piercing

I don’t know why I’ve waited so long to write this review…. I guess after getting several opinions from different tattoo artists and them saying all the same thing (that my tattoo is absolutely horrible and there’s no fixing it and I should get it removed) it kind of reiterated the fact that I should write this review. A couple of years ago I went here to get what was supposed to be a beautiful butterfly tattoo on my neck. When I went in I gave them the picture of the tattoo I wanted. It was agreed that I would come back a different day and that a girl (I believe it was the owners daughter) would do my butterfly tattoo. I went in on the day of the appointment to get my tattoo and the first red flag was when I walked in the girl that was originally supposed to do my tattoo said “I’m sharing the wealth today and he is going to do your tattoo”. They reassured me that he had 20+ years of tattoo work and that everything would be fine. He went to put the stencil on and I looked in the mirror and told him that I didn’t think it was straight and I wanted him to redo it. There was another man there that took a look at it while I was laying down and told me that it went with the way my neck was and that it looked great, then told me that it didn’t need to be moved. So I left it alone against my better judgment. I feel like he spent way too long on just even doing the outline. I did realize halfway through that the stencil on the other side of my neck that he did not work on yet was rubbing off, but I trusted him… and trusted the process and believe in letting the artist do his/her work and letting them concentrate and do the job so I didn’t say anything. The whole time getting tattooed he never complained about me moving or not sitting well, so that can’t be the blame. I’m not a confrontational person and I don’t know why but when he was done and I looked at it, I didn’t have the heart to say that I actually hated it and noticed so many things wrong with it. I don’t know if it was because I felt bad because he was older (I feel like I know he didn’t do it on purpose and feel like he tried his best.) or because I was so embarrassed and I just wanted to get out of there. Probably a little bit of both. It is not centered at all. It’s not even on either side. It doesn’t look like a butterfly or like the picture I showed them. I often get asked “what is that, is that a moth or butterfly”. One side is skinnier than the other. Amongst so many other things. It doesn’t even look like the ink got in all the way and have never had this issue with any of my other tattoos. The stencil when put on was NOT like that or that bad. I know that it went wrong when the other side of the stencil got rubbed off and he didn’t put the other side of the stencil back on again before starting that side of the tattoo. So he basically free handed the right side of my tattoo. Having this horrible tattoo on my neck and not able to hide it has cost me so much self confidence. I hate it so much. I have to look at it every single day and some people say my neck looks twisted because of it. I wish I never got it or went here to get it, and wish I would’ve turned around at the door when I realized someone else was doing it rather than the girl that was supposed to. I now have to set up several appointments and start the removal process costing me a couple thousand dollars, hoping that it can actually be removed all the way, so I don’t have to live with it anymore. I know this is partially my fault, there were so many red flags that I ignored and still went through with it and didn’t stop him or say anything. I’ve cried so much over this and I just really wish and hope that people do their research before they get tattooed by somebody. Please learn from my mistake. I wish I remembered the name of the man who did it. Please note that just because my tattoo this man did is horrible and trash, that doesn’t mean that everyone else in this shop is horrible at tattooing as well. I hate that I finally had to come here to write this at all. Picture below…

Got matching tattoos with my wife while in town. Honestly, they are terrible. The line work is terrible. Pieces are missing. Literally looks like a kid drew it with a sharpie. Tattoo artist should retire. Already thinking of ways to cover it up. Would not recommend at the price point. Worst $200 ever spent.

My son, Robert Manning was very happy to tell Dillan kissee how to design his Al Copone tattoo with picking his colors out to do a cover up. Dillian was kind soul to do this for him. Thank you Dillan , his mother

One of the best if not the best shops in kankakee county... Ive had a few done by Roger and a few donne by others.. great place.. clean. Welcoming...I miss Roger by the way!!

The best experience with a piercer i’ve ever had. The new piercer Lauren is so kind, gentle and patient. She is extremely talented and helpful. 10/10 recommended getting a piercing done by her. She is amazing.

I went in there with my daughter to see about getting her ears pierced and the guy who does the piercings made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. Usually I dont have a problem but this guy for some reason does not know how to utilize customer service skills. Never had a problem until interacting with this guy. Im only giving two stars because of my past experiences, but if this guy continues to work here I will never be getting anything done here again.

Never been to this place before came to get my ears pierced made an appointment the piercer wasn’t even asked guy who looked like he was boss he tells me oh she’ll be in in a little bit another customer comes in to get nose pierced 30 minutes later he tells her 5 pm maybe he doesnt know when she’s coming in a guy came to get a small tattoo on his his of a rose in my opinion guy was pretty rude to the customer then told him 100 dollars guy said sorry I can get it for 50 else where the owner or whoever then proceeded to say well I don’t believe that go there my wife recommended this place I have no idea why I have my whole back done looks great got it done at dark side by a guy named Josh these guys stuff doesn’t look nearly as good any of it or any of them and they are gunna say minimum of a 100 your funny yeah I don’t recommend this place to any1 will not be back for piercing tattoo anything mind blown out how this place is ran compared to other places I’ve been

My friends and i only planned one of us getting a tattoo then we noticed they have a gumball machine filled with tattoo ideas! we did it and loved our experience! they also have many different services there and the shop is adorable!! all of those worked there that day were very nice. Teray especially was so loving and comforting! she did an amazing job on all of us and did it quickly as well for all four tattoos. this is my new place! thank you guys again! definitely recommend! see y’all soon!

Weve been here many times. Weve gone here for 2 piercings and about 8 tattoos. We called, and got an answer but whoever answered immediately hung up without saying anything (we were mid sentence trying to ask a question) and didnt call back. Whenever we went we only had been around one guy that worked there but he passed, its safe to say we liked it better a year ago than now.

Have gotten two piercings here so far and each time they have been amazing! I usually have trouble healing piercings and keeping them in but I’ve had no issues with my piercings from them. Not to mention the staff is extremely upbeat and explains the whole process. They’re a damn good time to work with and I will be going back for other services!!

I got two piercings today by one of the gentlemen there. He was fantastic. Super personable, very funny, very professional. I got my helix done and my nose done. The only thing Id say is maybe give me a bit of advice about the piercings next time? BUT it is simple stuff to know with Google. Highly recommend this place! My roommate got her spider bites by the lady there, too. We will definitely go back in the future for more!

Daniel was awesome and friendly! i got a helix piercing, and he did a consultation with me to help me select a body mod id like for my ear. the place was clean, process was smooth, and i had a really enjoyable experience. in and out in less than half and hour. i would definitely recommend!

Never again, worst work Ive ever seen and now its on my body. Squiggly lines, ink all over. Very upset plus it was $75 minimum each. We got super small tattoos. Wasnt a huge fan of her customer service either. We did it for our anniversary, completely let down. Were going to get ours fixed in a few weeks. Not fair. I do not recommend going here.

I have gotten 3 separate piercings there over the years. All got infected. All piercings I have received from other establishments have had ZERO PROBLEMS. I know how to care for a piercing. The piercer told me to put Neosporin on my fresh nose piercing and said not to use saline at all. The complete opposite of what you should do to a fresh piercing. The piercer was eating when I arrived (I’m giving the benefit of the doubt that he washed his hands) he threw on some gloves and pierced me. Engaged in conversation BUT the aftercare instructions were completely wrong. No hard feelings bc I know how to take care of a piercing, but please please please educate your piercers on proper aftercare, first timers may not know better and use the triple A ointment..that’s a big no no. When the owner was told about the concerns my comments were deleted and I was blocked(Fb). DO NOT TRUST THIS ESTABLISHMENT FOR PIERCINGS. idk if it’s cheep jewelry or poor sanitation or a mixture of both….but I will never recommend this place. The previous owners where very nice people but the business has always had a poor reputation. 3 strikes your out.

Absolutely felt welcomed and felt so comfortable here! Teray and Chloe were so nice! me and my friends did the tattoo gumball machine, i was so happy with what i got! Teray was very nice and comforting! definitely recommend coming here!

I booked a same day tattoo appointment online with Teray, the overall process was easy and I got an email and text shortly after to confirm my appointment. I went in with the picture of what I wanted and she gave me exactly that! I am so happy with the tattoo! I will definitely be back!

I got my cartilage pierced today. I don’t know what the artist’s name was but everything looked like it was sanitary, she pierced my ear quick, and was really patient with me. She made sure I was feeling okay and that I didn’t fall (I was feeling really faint, I don’t have much of a pain tolerance) and gave me some water. The price was really fair as well. I’d definitely recommend.

I called and talked to the owner and got in that day to get a small tattoo. Angela was helpful with getting the right size for the tattoo. I hot the tattoo right away by another tattoo artist. This was my 3rd tattoo at Rogers. I love all 3 of them. I have had 3 different artists that did my tattoos. All 3 of the artists were experienced. I had no problems at all. They give post care instructions and let you know its ok to come back for any problems. I have no doubt I would ho back if I decide to get another tattoo.

Sarah at Rogers is amazing!! And while I was sitting there getting my tattoos from her, the owners were there and they were definitely the sweetest. Ive only had one other good experience with a tattoo shop. I definitely recommend Rogers! Very friendly and easy to talk to!

Got facial dermal with biopsy punch, noticed and mentioned it wasn’t laying flat on my skin and piercer told me it was normal with swelling. It later popped out 10 days after and after going to another piercing shop the piercer told me the whole was too big for the bar and it wasn’t properly put in. Do not recommend

I went in today for a septum and Medusa piercing and needless to say I’m really disappointed and sad. The piercer had quite a hard time getting the needle through my septum and had to poke it twice. The Medusa is clearly off center and the septum is very slanted. I would not recommend this place.

Two of my three tattoos were done here. My third was done poorly somewhere else so I got it fixed at Rogers. I have had nothing but good experiences. Follow the directions on how to care of your new tattoo or piercing and your final product will be amazing.💜💜💜

My wife and I came in as walk ins and didnt really have anything in mind Terry Daniel and art were all very patient and an absolute ball to be around.. Terry does amazing work and is as gentle as can be I loved the experience and they will definitely be seeing more skin from me... if youre looking for any tats that are beautifully done for a great price. Rogers is the place to go

The gentleman was kinda rude to my daughter who had some questions about piercing aftercare. She has a hard time speaking in general. He was obnoxious and impatient. Having said this he isnt there anymore though. My more recently visit was 5 star, very friendly. Artie has a very positive and upbeat personality.

I have been going to Rogers for years, 15 plus years! That being said, they have done all my piercings, and I have 5 plus in very personal places, they are very professional and I have never had any problems with infections, etc., they are very informative on how to take care of your piercings, what surprised me is the fact that I cannot wear earrings but I have some piercings that are in tricky places and have never had a problem with any of them. I just got my first tattoo and just like my piercings was very pleased with the artist - Aaron Hodges - and the way I was treated and all and all my first tattoo went well and is still doing well.I will continue to use Rogers for all my body art and piercings and would highly recommend them to anyone!

I worked here for a short time. The staff was very rude to me and my customers. Especially Terrie. She continuously dropped the N word In front of me and even went as far as doing it in front of my good friend who is half African American. I was constantly being degraded and harrassed about my work area as well as work practices. They never sanitized their work stations after tattoos and or properly wrapped equipment. They never washed their hands in between piercings and tattoos. Several times I witnessed them stop in the middle of a tattoo and do a piercing without washing their hands. I was constantly battling to keep my place in line for tattoos because when a client would come in wanting work done they would schedule them for another day just so I wouldnt get the business even if I was sitting right there ready to tattoo. I honestly am embarrassed to say i ever worked here and I would never recommend anyone to go to this place for a tattoo or piercing. Several of my peers that got piercings either complained of infection or misplacement of a piercing. I was hoping to work here to get experience in a shop but instead I it was the biggest set back of my tattooist career! I witnessed on a daily basis people coming in wanting genuine authentic custom tattoo work done, instead the staff would google other peoples tattoos, print them out and trace them into stencils and actually tattoo them on people! I am highly dissatisfied with my experience here and I cannot believe the way they treated clients and fellow staff.

Every time I go in there, I have nothing but the best experience you can ask for. Everyone there are very polite and friendly and extremely professional. I recommend as many people as I can to them. If youre looking to get a tattoo/piercing......THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO! YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED

Lady that was supposed to be working on tattoos took a “smoke break” every 10-15 minutes. A small tattoo that takes “10 minutes” took 30 minutes!! Do not recommend, waiting for two hours!! Couldn’t even get a small tat because they were gonna close soon.

Sam is a Rockstar! Super light handed and excellent at taking my ideas and making them body art! I have 3 pieces now from ger, and recommended several people who have gotten tattoos by Sam! Thank you so much!

Okay with piercings, horrible with tattoos. Ive had 2 done here and they are both mediocre at best. Luckily theyre easily fixable but i wouldve preferred to have them done right the first time. Please do not go here to get a tattoo, there are more shops around to choose from.

Myself and my wife have gone to see Sarah here and she does incredible work. She is super friendly and makes the process so easy. Highly recommend her and Rogers Tattoo!

Favorite place to get piercings! Daniel has given me probably 3 or so facial piercings and has done my lobes and they all healed perfectly😊

Bad experience: I will not be going back I messaged one of the workers to ask about a tattoo and to make an appointment. Finally made an appt but when I get in for appt they didn’t even know about it even though it got approved and it was the tattoo person I wanted to do it... I was really upset will be finding another person to go to

The guy that does piercings and the daughter they were very rude and unprofessional. I will not recommend anyone to go there! That wasnt me arguing with you, Im the one that came the first time with my niece. Get your facts right first.

Got my first (luckily small) tattoo done here, along with an industrial piercing. After moving and trying out actual professional places, I can tell you sooo many things wrong with this place.The industrial: I almost passed out from the pain because they took forever to get it all the way through. Then, within months, I find that they didnt pierce it right because it grew OUT of my ear. I still have the indentation.My tattoo: a small spider on my hip, done by Roger himself. I twitched ever so slightly and he screwed up one of the legs so that it was crooked and then blamed it on me - terrible customer service btw. I realized later that he was actually just a complete amateur, despite owning his own shop. He dug in WAY too deep, causing the entire tattoo to leave a scar on me, so that even after getting it covered up, you can still see the spider underneath from the up risen skin. A DECADE LATER. Also, even tattoo artists with years less experience have had no issue holding my skin still on the rare occasion they can even make me twitch. I have 5 tattoos at this point, 2 of them pretty sizeable (8+ hours). On top of that, the place is just not clean and professional. Just terrible.

BAD BAD BAD!!!! Went with a friend to get her tragus pierced, and we left the shop only to realize her ROOK was pierced! He wouldn’t even fix the piercing he messed up. Guy also wanted to pierce my cartilage with an earring gun, not even a proper needle! Would give zero stars if I could. Take your business elsewhere.

Fantastic experience!! Large, open, VERY CLEAN studio. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. My daughter and I both have had tattoos by Sarah Lally and LOVE them!

My boyfriend and I went in for some ink, but were disappointed in what we walked out with. There were children running around and yelling, while the sign on the door read no one under 18 permitted. The lines in my boyfriends tattoo were crooked and the sword was drawn at a curve instead of straight. Some colors were missing and not put in at all. We respectively paid for our tattoos and left. Would not recommend if you are looking for a quality tattoo.

I got my very first tattoo today at Rogers. I LOVE IT. They are very friendly, the store is very clean, and Roger did an excellent job. I would recommened Roger and Teray to anyone getting a tattoo!

This is a great place to get work done, not only do they do great work, there prices are worth the work and the people are great. I highly recommend Rogers to anyone wanting a tattoo, Ive gotten all of mine from here and iam very happy with all of them

The artist was really rude and snotty, the floor was sticky and dirty. She had a horrible attitude and smelled. My piercing was uneven and very noticeable. Wouldn’t recommend if you care about your appearance.

This place is where I got my first tat o er 25 years ago and I brought my daughter here for a piercing. Staff has always been great. Love this place

Amazing for my first piercing! I got a nose piercing with a hoop in late November. It is noe fully healed and awesome. NO INFECTION OR IRRITATION!

I have 13 piercings and got all but 2 done there ive got good help there and ive never gotten a infection my mom got a tattoo there nothing happened to it cousins got ears and lip done there nothing happened. I love going there to get my piercings done

Happy with the work from Green Smoke. I went in on a Friday night and was able to get in right in for a simple tattoo of something my daughter drew.
