Wow! I went to Coleton for my first tattoo, and boy it did not disappoint! The space is very clean and uncluttered. Coleton is a super nice person. He answered all of my questions, and throughout the tattoo we just chitchatted. He sent me home with an aftercare sheet which was very much appreciated. Coleton is an AMAZING artist, and I definitely plan on returning! Thank you, Coleton for a fantastic first tattoo!!

Incredible experience! Coleton has a unique artistic style, and his tattooing showcases his exceptionally clean line work enhanced by pointillism, which he sometimes uses as a modern alternative to shading. The shop itself is meticulously clean, and Coleton was happy to share with me the advancements in tattooing technology that aid in infection control and ergonomics for both the client and the artist. He also shared experiences from his 4 year apprenticeship that helped shape him into the tattoo artist he is today. I was confident that his rigorous training and natural talent more than qualified him to produce excellent results. I sat through a 7 hour session with no problems and am healing very nicely. I am beyond impressed with the steady-hand-precision used to place my tattoo and will definitely be getting another one at Aphotic!

Coleton is an awesome artist and standup dude! Ive been in twice now to him. Dont want to go anywhere else for some ink! Shop is nice, and clean. And has a very nice atmosphere. Absolutely awesome experience with Coleton. Super clean and comfortable shop. Coleton took my ideas and suggestions and ran with them. He walked me through all of his thought processes when it came to tweaks and changes. He really had the big picture in mind so the art was uniform, which was really appreciated. Great music and conversation. Really cool cat doing fantastic artwork and being a pleasant human being on top of it.

Could not be more stoked on my tattoo! Coleton is not only a talented artist but one of the most genuine and passionate people I’ve met! I sent in a small image of the tattoo I wanted and he knocked it out of the park! The shop is super chill with plenty of inspiration on the walls from pieces he’s created over the years. Can’t wait to go back!

Colteon is super professional and talented! I love my new tattoo from him! Also, he knows some good music! I didn’t know what the sketch would look like going into the appointment, and he asked how I liked it or if I wanted it altered. But I loved the sketch and how he placed it on my arm. Definitely recommend this place for awesome tattoos!!!

10/10 experience. My tattoo was drawn up for me and it came out perfect. I asked for a skull with roses and chains incorporated, he absolutely nailed it. Coverups aren’t easy but he did a great job. The creativity of this piece is crazy. I couldn’t have found a better tattoo artist for this piece. Very reasonably priced and great energy all around. He really knocked it outta the park.

Coleton has a clean shop, plays great music, and I really enjoyed visiting with him. Best of all with the idea that I had he created an amazing tattoo that I will love forever! I appreciate his absolute professionalism. Can not wait for my next tattoo- thank you Coleton!

When first researching artists, I was a little leery of this place because of the perfect 5-star rating...sort of like it has to be too good to be true, but let me tell you, Coleton does phenomenal work and deserves the highest rating possible. He responded to my inquiry right away, which I greatly appreciated, and ended up doing a cover-up for me. The piece looks amazing and I am so happy with it. Clean shop and professional customer service skills. I will definitely be back in the future!

The artist/ owner of this tattoo shop is very talented. He has done both of my tattoos and I absolutely love them. I get compliments on them all the time! Plus Coleton is easy to talk to and it is a comfortable environment. I would recommend this tattoo shop to anyone!

Coleton fixed a tattoo that went terribly wrong years ago. I was afraid to have someone else fix this tattoo, but after seeing Coleton`s work I was willing to give him a try. This is by-far the best ink studio in butte ,MT.Coleton is extremely professional, very personable, great conversationest and an extremely talented artist. Aphotic is an extremely clean and comfortable shop. Coleton makes you feel right at home. This is the only shop that as soon as you leave you are ready to go back in for more. I went in to get a tattoo of an octopus. I said that I wanted it as large as possible but did not want to go over $800. The artist was nice, professional, and the space was clean. My issue is that he charged me $800 and my tattoo is not finished and it would be $400-$500 dollars more to get it finished. He failed to see my side of things that he should not have made it that large and ignored my initial budget. Good tattoos are not cheap, and cheap tattoos are not good. Is the response i received, which is not what I was arguing. He should have made it smaller as it was my first time going to him and did not know he would not be able to complete the tattoo in 8 hours.

Colton is a talented artist, and tatooist. It doesnt hurt that hes also very engaging and has exceptional customer service skills (unlike many other tattoo artists in Butte). I recommend Colton!

I would like to share with each reader my first tattoo experience with Aphotic Tattoo, in fact, my son Coleton McCaul. My hopes are each of you reading will also share my experience with others. I was very humbled and uneducated to the whole tattoo process. Personally, I had not garnered the time expended that it takes Coleton to take an idea, then draw it, and then redraw the same image all over again on the final canvas, our body. Excellence is a result of skill, attention to detail, imagination and the ability to draw what each of us has envisioned from our thoughts and ideas, this is all true with my son Coleton.

I’m quite mind blown at all the good reviews on this place. My husband and I put in a deposit for tattoos and I ended up putting my deposit towards his tattoo. My husband showed up for his appt and it was nothing like they discussed. The tattoo drawing was okay, but it didn’t match any of the sleeve layout my husband asked for. The owner should have communicated beforehand to make sure he knew what he wanted not just guessing and making up his own drawing of what he thinks looks cool. He still kept my husbands deposit even though it was the owners error and my husband did not want the permanent work that isn’t what he asked for. Not to mention he wants you to sign a paper stating spasms, infection, etc, are normal and you need to see a doctor if it happens. Would not recommend this place to anyone just based off of the lack of communication skills and how unprofessional he is.
