Will never go anywhere else for piercings! Cannot recommend Alexia enough - so so inclusive, welcoming, easy to talk to, and incredibly knowledgeable on all things piercings & jewelry. Alexia was incredibly thorough & made sure we knew everything & had a chance to ask all our questions. i loooove that the studio has a locked door policy so there are no distractions during your appointment and all the focus is on you. the studio is also just so comfy & welcoming & pretty. i will 10000% be back when i want more piercings or jewelry :)

I had an amazing experience getting my conch pierced by Alexia. They were incredibly helpful in determining the best placement and jewelry for me. I appreciated their honesty and feedback on what would suit my lifestyle, healing process, and anatomy. Alexia was kind and efficient throughout the entire procedure. They guided me through the piercing process and explained the use of threadless earrings, which was particularly helpful given my limited experience.I dont have a particularly high pain tolerance—Id rate myself as average (likely to complain about some discomfort 😂). Everyone experiences pain differently, but Id compare the sensation of the conch piercing to having an IV placed or donating blood.10/10 would do it again! If you’re looking for a calm, experienced professional, minimal pain, and an excellent selection of jewelry this is the place!

I have never had such a positive experience with a body modification shop. 11/10 recommend this business. I recently got my navel pierced, and the pierce, Alexia, was thoughtful, organized, and detail-oriented. Her table-side manner was by far the best Ive ever received in a setting like this. She offered ample detail about the process, hosted space for all of my questions, and was patient and kind.She also went above and beyond when I forgot to take home my aftercare kit and brought it to me to ensure that my new piercing would be well taken care of. And above all else, my piercing looks AMAZING. Go so Spica, you wont regret it.

Alexia has pierced my 3rd lobe, conch & flat helix over the last year or so (jewelry in mentioned piercings also from her shop.) I have had some gnarly piercings in the past from tattoo shops that failed for whatever reason, and I’m glad I found this shop because they are all doing well under her care. Alexia was great! My daughter recommended Spica after a pleasant experience. Communication was great ( from scheduling to visit). Alexia is so personable and immediately puts you at ease. The one on one attention enhances the appointment. She provides so many options and is transparent with costs. I felt totally valued as a customer and would not hesitate to go back.I did go back to purchase another set of earrings(2 months after my 1st visit). Again it was a wonderful experience- the selection options were great- Alexia worked with me to select the perfect pair. She is a joy to work with - I am sure I will be back again.

Appointment only, no walk in which is good no waiting time. Alexia is really professional and fun to get work done with. She knows the answers to all the questions. I had my daith pierced in 2020, a jewelry upgrade and second lobe piercing in 2023, and a jewelry upgrade today! I’ve had fantastic experiences with Alexia each time, and I plan to come back for any future piercings. I have sensitive skin, and I really struggled with my first earlobe piercing (done with a piercing gun when I was a kid) reacting to almost all jewelry. All the piercings done by Alexia have healed so well, and I haven’t had any negative reactions to any of the jewelry she’s put in! I got the flat back earrings she uses for lobe piercings, and I love that I can leave them in 24/7-especially that I can sleep on my side without the post poking me. She’s very knowledgeable, and I’ve always felt like I can ask questions about the healing process/felt really prepared for aftercare! Highly recommend!

Alexia is the most professional, skilled, friendly and compassionate piercer Ive ever been to. Ive gotten daith and conch piercings from her, and have had her change out my jewelry on multiple occasions. Shes obviously meticulously honed her craft, explains the whole process thoroughly and puts you right at ease. I appreciate her transparency in terms of how her shop schedules and how she clearly communicates her policies via social media (Instagram in particular). Brought my 16 year old to Spica for a septum piercing and had a wonderful experience. Alexia is a true professional who clearly cares about her clients and does a fantastic job of making everyone comfortable. We are lucky to have her in Chapel Hill! First of all, Alexia and her studio are like no other. I stumbled upon the perfect frog earring, Sir Hops by Junipurr, one day online and knew I needed him. I quickly researched where to find him and saw that there was one left in stock online. Spica was the closest place for me that carried Junipurr and I couldnt have been more happy. Alexia, the owner moved so fast and helped me obtain the last earring in the country!! Once the piece was shipped, I was able to make an appointment and everything was seamless. The second we walked up to the storefront, we were greeted with a warm welcome from Alexia. Upon entering, I was amazed at the jewelry selection and she has some wonderful designers with incredible pieces. Alexia is thorough with her process and helped me choose the best placement for my piercing. The piercing area upstairs was super clean and Ive never seen anyone clean/care for piece of jewelry like Alexia did. Seeing the aseptic process and Alexias technique was impressive. The experience couldnt have been any better and I cannot wait to go back!

Lexi is a very experienced piercer, the shop has a wonderful atmosphere, and the jewelry is high quality, I recently had an angry and swollen tragus (from sleeping on it too soon after piercing) and she was INCREDIBLY helpful in seeing me at the last minute to reset the jewelry and get me back on my way to healing up. Alexia is the best!! One of the most professional and friendly piercers I’ve been to. She did my nose piercing a few months ago, and I recently went in due to a past piercing I had that had partially closed (not done by her). She was super helpful with helping me get the piercing back. I would highly recommend due to her expertise, and actually discovered her because I had friends who spoke very highly of her. If you get piercings here, you will be coming back. Also has really pretty jewelry :)

Lexi is the best piercer in North Carolina. She is very knowledgeable and takes you through the whole experience before she begins. She was extremely patient with my daughter as she picked out her earrings.

I’ve been to several places before to get my ears pierced and this has to be my favorite place by far! You can tell the owner loves her job and is very informative! I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a new piercing! The piercing I got here is the Rook and I LOVE it ☺️

Got my first piercing with Alexia and have done nearly all of them with her since then. Shes so friendly, and informative, and offers a wide range of jewelry options. I highly recommend everyone to look into getting pierced here, especially if its your first time. Because she only does one appointment at a time, you feel like shes really dedicating her time to you and never feels rushed.

TLDR: SOLD DEFECTIVE JEWELRY/JEWELRY PLACED INCORRECTLY IN SHOP BY PIERCER, LOST $160 + COST OF REPIERCINGvisited Spica with a friend who was getting her nipples pierced and purchased some beautiful jewelry from Lexi. Her studio was clean, comfortable, she was pleasant if not somewhat long-winded, and I left satisfied. However, the jewelry I purchased from her for $160 and had her place in studio (so I did not place or mess with the jewelry in any way) fell out multiple times simply while showering, and I was unfortunately out of town and could not return to the studio to have the jewelry refunded or replaced. This is not normal- I have never had any nipple jewelry come out spontaneously in the 10 years have had piercings, and this was not just one, but both pieces. Jewelry should tolerate daily activities of living such as taking a shower and wearing clothes- I did not fiddle with, mess with, or attempt to remove the jewelry. I had to try to keep the obviously incorrectly placed or defective jewelry in my body as I was visiting a very ill family member, and then ended up coming out and being lost entirely during sleep. Furthermore, my piercings actually closed. I brought this up to Lexi, obviously trying to be non-accusatory as I know she did not purposefully sell me defective jewelry or place it incorrectly, but she offered me no solutions. I am out $160 + the cost of having to be re-pierced, and I dont think the customer should suffer because of issues with either her manufacturer or her services at that time. I really wanted to have a good experience with Spica, but it ended up being a very expensive mistake to come here. I have attached photos of our extremely dissatisfactory and unprofessional interactions, which ended with her referring me to her attorney because I had the audacity and litigiousness to ask her to take accountability for her actions. She seems to fixate on the fact that I said it “wasn’t her fault”, obviously I was trying to be nice, she did either sell me defective jewelry or place it incorrectly, and expects me to just say oh well (which I guess I will do unless I want to contact her lawyer lol). All in all, very unsatisfactory experience, fairly unethical, I would not return here or recommend to a friend. Obviously things can happen on the shops end, and she is perfectly willing to let you take the financial hit

Alexia is a professional and an artisan and we are thrilled to have found her. She welcomed my teen daughter for a “simple” bilateral earlobe piercing and treated her with the utmost respect. She struck the right balance between thoroughly explaining her protocols, procedures, and pricing without condescending to or losing her client. The shop was immaculate and beautifully laid out. We both felt very welcomed and expertly advised. Spica’s appointment and deposit/payment policies are clearly explained on the business website, and rest assured, your piercer will ask you to approve a quote before moving ahead. (My daughter chose ornaments and posts that totaled $110 beyond the piercing fee.) Here you will get your money’s worth in terms of time, craft, attention to detail, and reassurance for nervous customers. Very pleased with the product and the process!

Such an amazing experience with Lexie and her crew for my tragus piercing. It is a very safe, calm, comfortable atmosphere and the jewelry selection is top notch. Highly recommended whether you are an experienced piercee or a first timer.

I got pierced by Alexia about a month ago and my piercings are doing amazing! I loved my experience at this studio and I’m very happy with my results. My last piercings were done at Claire’s (my mistake 💀) and were uneven. I let Alexia know and she worked with me to get my new piercings to balance lobes overall appearance. I’m terrified of needles but she walked me through the whole process, thoroughly explaining everything she was doing (including a helpful aftercare kit!). Ive experienced relatively little pain since I got them done. The studio was hygienic and comfortable; I also appreciated their caution while operating during the ongoing pandemic. Everyone at the shop was patient, understanding, and friendly—I definitely know my go-to place for piercings now!

The absolute best place to get pierced. The owner is so knowledgeable, patient, and the atmosphere is very relaxing. Gorgeous and clean studio! I got my septum pierced a couple weeks ago and everything has been going great, and the experience during the procedure was basically painless. I’m going back to get another piercing changed this week, and I’m very excited to have found this place. And while some (impatient people) might find the scheduling long/lengthy to get in (which it is not - both times I’ve scheduled took maybe two weeks to get in) and honestly I would rather have a personal experience, than one where it’s interrupted by people constantly coming in and out during the appointment.

I really enjoyed my experience at Spica. I went in for a new septum piercing ring. Alexia is super kind and inviting. She gave me ample time to figure out which jewelry I was interested in. We had a wonderful experience here. My 12 year old son got his ears pierced for the first time. Afterward he said that he liked how Lexi talked him through the entire process and made sure he understood, as this helped him stay calm. Theres also a great selection of jewelry. Alexia Phillips is a fantastic piercer! She’s a great conversationalist and I had a lot of fun talking with her throughout my appointment! This really helped put me at ease, the whole shop just felt very welcoming and friendly. Not only are there tons of jewelry options to choose from but she will also custom order a piece for you if it’s not in stock. She helped me explore my options to find a piece that would compliment my other jewelry, and made sure I was certain that it was the piece I wanted. When it came to the piercing itself, her bedside manner was impeccable. She explained everything she was doing throughout the process in a clear, easy to understand way and made sure to check in with me to make sure I was still on board with each step. My piercing came out perfectly and I’m extremely happy with it! I’ve returned to the shop a few times since for checkups and custom ordered jewelry and every experience has been extremely pleasant. I highly recommend Spica to anyone that wants a quality piercing (but be sure to make an appointment ahead of time since Spica doesn’t accept walk-ins!)

Spica body piercing was such a refreshing find after a terrible experience I had with another well rated piercing studio in Chapel hill. Alexia is respectful, knows what she is doing and most of all is just an honest person! Both the times when I went to the studio, I assumed I was going for a piercing but she was able to taper and open up the already existing piercing and didn’t charge me for something she didn’t do. She was also able to help me when I had a bump over the opened up piercing to help it heal. If you are looking for a 5 star piercing experience, look no further.

Simply put, you want to get pierced here, period. A thoroughly awesome experience! Gorgeous jewelry, plush environment. Honestly felt more like going to a salon than a piercing studio. I felt very sure I was in good hands, and I was correct. Also, aftercare supplies were included, which I love.

I could rave about Spica all day. The space theyve created there is so nice, inviting, and professional. The front desk staff are welcoming and knowledgeable, and Alexia is just a top notch piercer. I went in to get my dermal piercing removed today, Alexia made the removal process an enjoyable experience! she was very nice and gentle, she made sure i was well informed and even suggested other great piercers around my area!

TLDR - Ive wasted about $200 here on piercings that had to be taken out and redone. My septum piercing was completely crooked and my industrial piercing was not done correctly. Save yourself the money and just go to Gypsy Hill. Its not on Franklin, but its in Chapel Hill too, and they get it done right the FIRST time. I know Alexia TALKS as if shes super knowledgeable, but based on my experience, she doesnt have a good artistic eye for piercings and shes also not very skilled at it.I got done a septum and an industrial here. The septum piercing I got here was incredibly crooked the first time - it looked like it was shifted to one side (refer to pics). Immediately when I saw it, it looked off, and I told Alexia, who as a piercer, shouldve been able to see sense that the placement of the piercing was crooked. She told me that it looked pretty straight to her and that maybe it was the swelling. To me, it seemed like she just didnt pierce it straight, but I still decided to wait for a few days to see if it looked any better. After a week, the septum piercing still looked bad, so I reached out to Alexia to have her look at it again. This time, she took a closer look, and admitted that the piercing was totally crooked and offered a free redo.Even after getting the septum done a second time by her, the piercing still looked off! It felt too awkward to tell her that after the SECOND try, so I decided to wait it out. Alexia really struggled to put the ball at the end of the piercing (I got a horseshoe the 2nd time), and after about a week, the ball fell off. I went back to the studio to get a replacement and also to have her see if the piercing was crooked. She told me it looked straight. But to me, it still looked off (although better than the first time!...), and especially because the piercing sits down the center of the face, the slight asymmetry was really bothering me. Either way, Alexia again struggled to put the ball back on the piercing. I dont know if theres an issue with her piercings or if her hands are just not nimble enough, but I remember coming out the shop and part of the screw (where the ball is supposed to completely screw into) was still exposed. It seemed like she just jammed in the ball rather than screw it onto the bar properly. Not surprisingly, the ball fell off AGAIN, and this time, the entire piercing actually fell out, and my septum closed up. I contacted Alexia and this time, she was not offering a free redo. But honestly, I think the piercing gods were looking out for me because I decided to get it redone at a different piercing shop in Chapel Hill (Gypsy Hill), and wow, in his FIRST TRY, the piercer was able to get it completely straight. I looked in the mirror and had no doubts that the piercing was not crooked. Here I was thinking that maybe my nose/septum itself was crooked and that septum piercings would not look right on me.While I was at Gypsy Hill, I had them look at my industrial because the back of it got loose and the bar fell out (this seems to be a common theme with Shakti piercings. I have 7 other piercings in my ears and NEVER had issues like this). I thought the piercer at Gypsy Hill would just put the bar back in, but he actually told me the entire industrial piercing was done incorrectly and recommended I just take out the entire piercing and let it heal and redo it. Apparently, industrials are supposed to go through the center of your cartilage, but Alexia had pierced through half cartilage, half skin, and one good snag wouldve ripped the piercing out. I also want to mention I had quite a bit of issues with that piercing with a huge bump not going away for a long time (Again, never an issue with my other piercings).Im honestly confused by the overwhelming positive reviews for this place. I wish I had taken more pictures because the attached ones definitely make the piercing look a lot BETTER than it did. For earlobe piercings, this is probably a safe place to go to, but I would definitely not come here for any facial or body piercings.

Alexia is incredible, and I would give more than 5 stars if I could!!I got my nostril pierced a couple months ago, and the experience was fantastic! This was my first time getting a piercing and I was nervous beforehand, but Alexia made me feel completely at ease. Ive cleaned the piercing as recommended, and its been healing wonderfully!Now, a couple months later, I accidentally knocked off and lost part of the jewelry. Alexia was extremely accommodating in seeing me as soon as possible to get a replacement so the piercing can continue to heal properly with the jewelry in.As long as Im in the area, this is the only place Ill go for a piercing!

Got my second piercing on my lobes done by Alexia and had a great experience. The shop is meticulously clean, there are so many beautiful pieces of jewelry to pick from, the staff explains every step and were so kind, and the piercing process was quick and easy! I took my 16-year-old daughter to get an ear conch piercing. They were very friendly and hospitable, and the piercer didn’t hurt my daughter whatsoever. She had piercings performed before that hurt, but this time it didn’t, and I’m sure it’s because of the professionalism and technique that this place offers Located in a charming little office in Chapel Hill. It was our second visit there. I had hoops put in earlier in the year and was impressed enough to bring my daughter for her piercing.

Walked in with a friend today to look at jewelry I was pretty set on purchasing. the worker helping us was fantastic, super knowledgeable and sweet. unfortunately the piercer (I believe) was strangely rude. I decided not to purchase about $120+ of jewelry because of the way we were being treated. they had some beautiful pieces I had my heart set on, and I felt terrible for taking up the time of the sweet employee helping us but after the third passive aggressive interaction I felt pretty unwelcome and decided to not inquire about an appointment for a daith piercing.**edit**I am aware you are an appointment only studio for piercings. when I walked in the door, the sweet employee who helped me informed me of that, and I clarified then AND multiple times after that I was only there to buy new jewelry. not for a piercing or to swap out jewelry. the employee gave me the impression this was acceptable, after I stated I was okay either waiting or booking an appointment to shop for jewelry. multiple times I was asked if I had an appointment and multiple times I clarified. leaving a negative review because I found the way I was spoken to and treated by the piercer is not to damage your reputation. it is to share with others that they might also be treated unkindly, which is good to know before booking an appointment for something as intimate as a piercing. based off how you respond to ever other review that isn’t a 5 star review, you are okay invalidating people’s experiences and guilt tripping them. both my friend and I, after they made a purchase, agreed that we were treated really unfairly and without any kind of grace. I also witnessed the other customer who was shopping for jewelry being treated in a similar way. this was both disappointing and made me absolutely set on not ever trusting you with my body.

I got my eyebrow done here, and it was the best experience i’ve had at any shop!! i felt very safe and welcome, i was never embarrassed or scared to ask any questions!! i will never go anywhere else, it was the quickest and cleanest piercing i’ve gotten. Alexia is the sweetest and i’m so happy i chose to go here!!!

I have been here a few times, they always do a great job! Super friendly, they will make you feel comfortable even if you’re a very anxious person like myself. I called for an appointment to buy new jewelry for an existing piercing was was able to get in very quickly. Staff was beyond friendly, shop was spotless (also gorgeous), and the piercer was so awesome. They were very candid with me about questions I had regarding jewelry in some of my other piercings and helped me find the perfect option. I asked for a new septum ring that fit snugly into my nose was matched with exactly that. By far the best experience I’ve had with piercings. Will be returning for all my future piercing and jewelry needs.

Let me first start by saying that this establishment is extremely beautiful! Upon entry you will notice immediately that the shop is taken care of daily. Very clean! It has been two weeks since my VCH piercing with the Alexia, and it is healing so beautifully!!! I could not be happier! This was my first time to Spica, and it was a positive and reassuring experience. Alexias knowledge and experience with piercing was extensive. Recently my sixteen year old grandson decided he wanted to pierce his ear. After quite a bit of research on piercing salons in the Chapel Hill area I decided on Spica Body Piercing. I could not have been happier with our experience. I already had two piercings and also decided on a third. Lexi Phillips and her staff were extremely professional and the Spica Body Piercing salon is clean with plenty of piercing choices. The salon is heads above other piercing salons Ive used. Lexi made us feel comfortable while there and her knowledge and professionalism made our experience a great choice. This place is absolutely amazing. The jewelry is top notch and they even have 14k jewelry in all the gold colors. The staff is exceptionally friendly and very knowledgeable. I would recommend making an appointment as they are very busy, and probably will become even busier with this review. The shop is VERY clean and they sanitize everything. They even use a laser pointer to point to the items on display, so you won’t touch the glass. Great service for the piercing appointment BUT horrible experience when trying to replace broken/defective jewelry. Rules regarding appointments for jewelry consults too rigid. I understand the owner trying to focus time on piercing clients and prevent theft however its ridiculous to require a 10-15 min appointment (which can only be made the day of the appointment) just to return and replace something that should have never broken in the first place. Knowledgeable piercer but would not recommend simply due to the hassle if and when something goes wrong.

I had the absolute best possible experience with Spica & Alexia - the piercer - is so compassionate, understanding, and patient. I came in for a consultation because both of my nostril piercings that I got in Atlanta werent healing and Alexia spent so much time going over everything I needed to do and answered all of my questions. She was extremely knowledgeable about the healing process for immunocompromised individuals and took me through the whole routine. The piercing lady is one of the sweetest souls I’ve ever met. I came in for a piercing that I had been having problems with for a year. She instantly knew what it could be and took it out and gave me instructions on how to heal from it. She’s super knowledgeable and trustworthy - I really felt that I was in good hands. On top of that, she didn’t even charge me. Thanks to her, my ear has been healing wonderfully. The vibe of the place is also super cute and the other workers were wonderful as well. I will definetely be coming back to get another piecing once this one is fully healed!

I first went to Spica looking to get new jewelry for existing nose piercings. I was pleased with their very large selection of gold jewelry as that is what I was looking for. It was fairly priced and Lexi installed the jewelry for me for no additional fee. I was so happy that I returned two days later for a conch piercing. Making the appointment was simple, Lexi was very knowledgeable and made the environment welcoming and the process was smooth. Will definitely return.

I had an amazing experience at Spica. I came in to get my jewelry replaced a few weeks ago for two upper lobe piercings that I had gotten pierced at a different shop (my piercings were badly swollen & irritated). The owner taught me so much about sizing, materials, & care for piercings/jewelry. They were also very transparent on pricing! An experienced piercer who was new to the shop replaced my jewelry in a matter of minutes! Spica staff are awesome & I’ll definitely be returning for future piercings!

I had a really nice experience! The shop is beautiful and you get it all to yourself. You get time to comfortably pick your jewelry and get your piercing without feeling rushed. All the focus is on you! Alexia is very knowledgeable and this helps to calm your nerves. My only issue is there isnt any official parking. I parked in McDs lot but was a little worried about getting towed. Im not from Chapel Hill so Im not familiar with the free spots. Aside from that, I definitely recommend.

Went in today for a piercing after reading all the amazing reviews about Alexia and was not disappointed. I valued her professional opinion and feedback, she was super honest and did good by me as far as how the re-piercing (which actually didnt have to happen, she just tapered it open), and they really look out for the clientele with any blood sugar related issues, and even anxiety. This shop is absolutely the best. I first came in to get my nostril jewelry changed, because the piercer I had gone to prior used a corkscrew stud and my piercing was not healing too nice. The staff is insanely sweet, so knowledgeable, and talented! Great people! I had such an easy experience, and my nose healed perfectly after switching to thread less jewelry. Yesterday, I went in to get my septum pierced! Before finding Spica, I got my septum pierced at another shop. I was not happy with the placement considering it was basically hanging off the tip of my nose and I had to take it out. I was a bit nervous about this piercing because of my past experience, but I am more than happy with my results and the service I received. Drew helped me pick out my jewelry and Alexia pierced me. They are wonderful people, that do a wonderful job.

I came here with a friend to get lobes done and the piercer kindly walked us through our anatomy, how and why she was placing the piercings, and how to breathe to alleviate pain. The free piercing care kits are a godsend and my piercings have not hurt even a little bit. Im confident that is thanks to the skill, precision, and care of those working at Spica. I had my first ear lobe piercing done here, and I am very happy that I did! Everyone is super patient and helpful, and I never felt like I was asking the wrong questions. The process was done really well, super happy with how they look and how carefully the process was done.

I don’t think I can get a piercing anywhere else. A year ago, I got my septum pierced there and brought a friend who witnessed it as the best piercing experience either of us had had. In addition to the fact that these folks really know their stuff, they also are really big on consent prior to the piercing. This should not be a novel concept as it relates to body piercing, but it is. The shop is also super clean and bright, and you leave each piercing experience with a kit to take care of your new modification. I cannot recommend it enough!

The process before the actual piercing was smooth, she was informative in providing adequate details regarding the healing process. First time coming here! Alexia was informative and professional. I was impressed by the jewelry selection (lots of choices and price points - I got ethical turquoise and sterling silver!) and the extremely sanitary COVID-safe conditions. The studio is easily accessible from the street and has a clean, calming aesthetic. This is not my first piercing and I regularly give blood, but I was visibly nervous and I appreciate Alexia keeping up a soothing stream of chatter during the appointment. Pain was minimal as Alexia moved quickly and efficiently. I was not rushed during the process of choosing jewelry, signing the consent form, or getting the piercing and aftercare explanations, but I was still in and out in 28 minutes. Spica uses SquareUp, so it was easy for me to schedule (and reschedule, multiple times) with a $20 deposit. Pricing is straightforward, very reasonable, and includes an aftercare kit. I havent needed to follow up, but the aftercare kit includes contact information along with sanitary wash, instructions, and dates for jewelry changes. I plan to come back for future piercings.

I never leave reviews but I just had to for Spica! I took my daughter (7) to get her ears pierced. She was nervous and has a history of doing poorly for shots. But she did great thanks to the wonderful team at Spica! Both the front desk staff member and the piercer were so incredibly kind to both of us. They spoke directly to her and included her in everything to make her feel more comfortable. I had never been to Spica before, so I was unsure what to expect. Everything was welcoming, calming and clean and the environment definitely helped put my daughter at ease.The only small hiccup was that I was unaware until about a day before the appt that I would need to provide identification documentation (passport/birth certificate) for my daughter. Makes complete sense but I had to scramble a bit to find something that we had access to on such short notice. It’s possible that I overlooked that detail when scheduling online. But I wanted to share that for other parents looking at Spica.I will most certainly be taking my youngest to Spica when she’s ready to get her ears pierced!

I stopped in for a quick visit to Shakti Body Piercing on 8/31 for a helix piercing on my right ear and had a lovely experience. The space is a wonderful addition to Franklin Street. The front counter and waiting area is full of natural light and stunning jewelry for purchase while the upstairs piercing studio is modern and clean with personal touches. Alexia is my favorite piercer, she is calm, patient, efficient, and sweet. Alexia placed a test ring to check for placement and make sure I truly loved what Id be getting before actually piercing my ear. She made sure I was comfortable at every step and before I knew it I was on my way out with a new piercing I adore. I cant wait to go back!

I have been coming to Alexia for at least three years now and I truly wouldn’t want to get pierced by anyone else. She is not afraid to tell me when a piercing is not a good idea. The piercings I have gotten from here have been done correctly and efficiently every time. Without a doubt she is the best piercer in town, though that truly undersells her work. She has a wonderful staff as well, it is such a welcoming environment to step into!!

I went in wanting quite a bit between new piercings and changing out jewelry in several healed ones. The experience was absolutely wonderful, handled with zero issues, and all in space that felt very safe and comfortable. I havent been out much since covid, but I was so impressed with the safety precautions regarding that at Shakti. The space is also *gorgeous* and if I didnt have to leave I probably could have looked at that jewelry collection all day (just seriously beautiful high quality pieces and an option for everyone). Came in for a downsize on a rainy day (traffic was bad)literally 10 seconds after the grace period, was refused for service because the staff claimed she had other people coming in a few minutes when my appointment was for 30min. I feel bad I did not get a chance to put this earlier, my experience was exceptional!I came in with an ear ache issue and suspected it was connected to a helix piercing. I had had the piercing at another location, in another state many months ago.When the piercer saw the ear, she immediately stated it looked “ugly“ and advised the removal of the piercing. I had already suspected that so she prepared the station, removed the piercing, and I immediately noticed improvement!I very much appreciate the honesty and the information, and the professionalism of not berating the prayer piercer, but instead pointed out issues that led to the ear issue. My ear has progressively been getting better, and I am very much thankful! I hope to utilize her services in the future on another visit to the Chapel Hill location.Mahalo🙏🏻

Alexia is by far one of the BEST in the industry, and has a solid reputation in the Triangle area. I have know of her work for many years. She was referred to me by several people, and I have been to her a few of times.Once, I made the mistake of getting a microderm from a different piercer. It was poorly done and created problems. I went to Alexia and she did the piercing correctly. I have had it for at least 3 years with no issues.You will find Alexias place to be clean and well organized. She only stocks quality jewelry and her work is reasonably price. Most importantly, she is experienced, professional, and honest. I wouldnt go to, or send someone, to anyone else!

I had a lot questions about the piercing placement (didnt want it to interfere with headphones, or the ear piece of glasses, etc.) and Alexia worked with me to find exactly the right placement. She collaborated with me to make sure I got exactly what I want. She never rushed me and was so patient and helpful. I love the piercing!Also, I caught my hair on the new piercing the next day and emailed them for advice. They got back to me right away (at 8pm on a Saturday) with helpful advice about what to do. Totally worth the drive up from Raleigh! Ive had many piercings over the years and my ones from Ashley have always had the best placement and been the easiest to heal. I visited Spica Body Piercing to have my septum pierced by Alexia. She was incredibly knowledgeable and proficient. She took the time to explain the pros and cons of the specific special requests that I had and was able to articulate to me what the best plan of action was. Spica is a lovely relaxing piercing studio. Alexia and Ashley were right on time for my appointment and helped me decide on the jewelry and explained all the process. Alexia took me to the super clean piercing room which was nice and private and not too cold. She explained the piercing care post piercing and kept it simple and no none sense. I had explained in advance that I had had a prior piercing in the same nipple and was concerned about scar tissue. Alexia looked it over and was perfect in her placement to minimize pain and to make it look good. She picked the perfect length and gauge. I look forward to working with her to stretch the piercing to equal the other nipple. See you soon! well not too soon.

Went to have two of my cartilage piercings taken out (previously done elsewhere, never quite healed right) and have the jewelry changed on another -- Alexia and Duncan were exceptionally helpful walking through all my options and provided wonderful service. Their jewelry choices are gorgeous - the average person may say pricier, but Id say you get what you pay for especially when you want it in your body for a long time! Truly the only place I will ever get pierced! Alexia is an absolute professional - she knows what she is doing and cares about the result. I had a piercing that just wouldnt seem to heal and she worked with me for months trying to save it (midi piercings are not the move). When I finally gave up on it, I was back in her chair a few days later to try another spot.Every single one of my experiences here has been exceptional! I have been many times during the pandemic and always feel very safe. They have a routine that they stick to - only one appointment at a time in the shop, temperature checks, face masks (of course), and hand sanitizing.Along with being clean, the shop itself is so cool and cozy. There is a huge variety of jewelry, and she was even kind enough to order a specific piece of jewelry for me that she didnt carry in the shop.I cant say enough wonderful things about Shakti. I went to Shakti Body Piercing a week ago with my friend and I could not have asked for a kinder, more patient, transparent staff. We did a walk-in and they got us in quickly, as well as walking us through everything before, during, and after the process. Also, they give you free products after you get your piercing (I got my helix pierced; barely hurt!) for the after-care. I cannot stress this enough: please go here and you cant regret it!!! This was my second time coming to Shakti Body Piercing, and Ive had nothing but great experiences both times. I came in to change some labret jewelry today, and was given an in-depth explanation of all my options. Long story short, the first ring I chose didnt work out, and Alexia was kind enough to change to a ring that suited me better, just a couple of hours later and free of charge. I was very hesitant to come here because it was a new business and the wait was long for them to change my daith piercing. However, the workers there are extremely down to earth! Ive gotten multiple piercings from Alexia over the years. Alexia is an amazing and experienced piercer who will work with you to make sure the piercing you want works with your anatomy.The new space for Shakti is amazing. It is a two story space dedicated to piercing. Youll enter at the ground level and sign in and get paperwork done. Afterwards you can head upstairs to wait in a lobby like area with couches until its your turn. Finally you go back into the sterile piercing area where the magic happens. Gone are the days of getting pierced in the back closet of a tattoo shop. 😃

Great piercing shop! Jewlery selection is out of this world amazing! The shop was incredibly clean. My roommate and I both came in for piercings me a nostril and my roommate a septum. Both ladies worked with us for jewelry prices and placement. They even went above and beyond to remove my roommates ear cartilage that was stuck. They followed up and fixed my roommates septum when the ball came off due to accidentally fiddling with it while cleaning. We will both definitely be coming back for any other piercing needs!

I went to see the fine people at Shakti Body Piercing to get my septum pierced on Wednesday (6/3). It was their first day opening back up after shutting down for Covid and I was amazed. Duncan greeted me when I called to be let it (as they are only havving appointments now) and he let me in right away. He was very kind, helpful, warm, and made me feel right at home. The studio is beautiful, bright and full of sunlight. They were great with keeping everything clean and sanitized & I never once worried about their procedures. Alexia was amazing!! She is so kind, welcoming and loving. Her calm demenor put me at ease and she validatrd me in doing my research. She knew exactly what she was doing, was super quick and even helped me pick out my jewlery so it fit my face and not make me look silly. I also needed to get some earrings for my second peirings in my lobes and Duncan helped me pick out this amazing little pair of stars with flatbacks for less irritation. I will reccomend this shop to Anyone who asks because I had the best time, best service, and best cleanliness I have ever seen from a piercing studio!

I arrived expecting to need to have my ears re-pierced as two of my lobe piercings had closed in one ear. One had been closed for years, the other closed during the lockdown. I was surprised and pleased that Ashley could just tunnel in to the existing holes and stretch them sufficiently to insert my selected earrings. It was just a pinch and done! I have no reservations recommending Spica for piercing. They thoughtfully explained everything about the procedure and were quite helpful in selecting the starter studs. I might return to get a teeny tiny tattoo somewhere on this 70+ yo bod. We only live once, right?

My experience today at Shatki was remarkable. Alexia expertly explained the process and care before, during, and after my piercing which put me at ease. She is very professional, and had a great selection of jewelry. Very clean space, very friendly staff. I recommend highly Shatki.

This studio is not only extremely clean and well designed, but the staff are super nice and obviously well trained and knowledgeable. I would recommend them to anyone looking into getting a piercing. I felt comfortable from the first second after walking in and it was surprisingly virtually painless. There is a reason they have such high ratings.

The ladies here are so incredibly friendly. I had Ashley do a double helix and bilateral targus. She was amazing. Everything was clearly explained to me from start to finish. The shop is incredibly clean. Yes, you have to make an appointment, but please dont let that stop you from coming here.

Amazing piercing shop! Alexia works with your anatomy and takes her time to make sure the placement is right. She gives a detailed aftercare procedure and truly cares for her clients! 10/10 would recommend!
