Out on a Whim Tattoo

Received a nose piercing that I got out of town and it was starting to embed into my skin. I went in and Sal was super gentle taking it out and replacing it. I was so appreciative to have them correct someone else’s work. Plus it wasn’t expensive to do the work. Will definitely be back and recommend.

Wiz provided me with exactly what I wanted. For as tricky and delicate as a band tattoo on one of my ankles was, he did a great job of preparing ahead of time to ensure that the placement looked good. Im very content with the finish product.

Went in to get both my eyebrows done. They used the wrong type of metal for any kind of piercing which lead me to get a cyst/infection on one of my eyebrows (which needed to be drained and put on extreme antibiotics) and the other is still irritated even after over a month.

I went to get my jewelry put back in my ear after it had been out awhile due to surgery. The guy dropped the ball that he was trying to screw on and it fell on the floor. It was filthy. He picked up A ball and before he screwed it on I told him that one wasnt mine it was someone else’s. He looked on the floor again and made a comment that the guy the night before was supposed to have cleaned and swept the floor .Very unsanitary! I usually go to Proton but the piercer wasnt in. I will never go back!

I was tattooed by Chucky and he was aweful. He was distracted the whole time and had a snarky attitude. I got finger tattoos and a forearm tattoo and was overcharged for this work. You tell me. Shading is aweful. Lines are uneven and it looks like a jailhouse tat. He didnt even finish the green for the leaf or stem of the flower. I believe it was 450 for the flower tat and 150 for the fingers. I want to know what other people think. Almost Everyone who has seen them asked if it was a jail tat and I wish I could sue this dude Chucky

They did a Wonderful job doing my tattoo! The service was very nice, communicated in the process. Helped me feel comfortable if I needed a break! The place was filled with art masterpieces and some of the artists pieces and well. Would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place. I also absolutely loved that they took walk ins.

I walked in with my picture and was tattooed right away by Wiz, who was really nice and did a great job. He made sure he placed the stencil where I wanted it and was quick and professional. I would definitely recommend Out on a Whim.

I visited out on a whim intending to purchase a 2 septum rings. Unfortunately, I faced an accusation of attempted theft, which was baseless and seemed to stem from racial profiling. Despite paying for the jewelry, it was not given to me. It’s disheartening to note that if I had any intention to steal, I could have easily taken the jewelry from the table and left. However, my intention was to buy it legitimately, which I did, but I still left without what I came for due to this unjust treatment. I asked to see the footage so I can show my innocence but the piercer refused to admit he was wrong and started arguing with me.

Out on a whim may be some of the newer kids on the ink block in DeKalb, but they are killing the game.My guy in particular, Wizo, always leaves me walking out of the establishment with the biggest smile on my face when he nails my vision, look, and design of all of my tattoo ideas.Its a relaxed and friendly environment too, so its perfect for anyone with jitters about getting their first tattoo.10/10 Definitely recommend.

The artist was very willing and accommodating, while at the same time, professional and clear. I genuinely owe him my thanks and gratitude for working with me and being the artist I needed for the work I needed done today! Great job! and Great Atmosphere. The work was taken very seriously but not too seriously if you know what I mean. Thank you!

Looking for a new tattoo and want someone funny, energetic and personable? Logan has been a great artist at this shop! I have gotten several tattoos by logan and he continues to exceed my expectations. His skills range and he can adapt to a lot of different styles. He works with you to find the most reasonable price for what you are looking for including sizing and placement. Hes honest but extremely kind.

This tattoo parlor was the worst!! I was told I can’t be on my phone during the tattoo because people “move” when they are on their phone… I got a piece on my other arm at another place and I was on my phone and the tat came out fine. There was a loud movie playing while getting my tattoo with the screen behind me so I couldn’t even watch it. The whole experience was horrible! No phone, no music, and a pricy tattoo… do not suggest going to out on a whim.

Stormy is one of my favorite people to go to for piercings. she did a great job on my navel, made sure it was straight and in the right place for my body, and had a huge selection of jewelry. i went to her today for help picking out new jewelry for my septum and nostril piercings (not done by her) and she was so helpful with also putting IN that jewelry and the prices for jewelry are very affordable. i love this shop and will continue to go here for more piercings/tattoos :)

The new management really turned this place around. The inside of the shop is always clean and looks so nice, it also has a lot of wall decorations and artwork to look at. The staff is absolutely amazing. I got some piercings from here and the employee who helped me was very professional and very helpful. My piercings have healed and look amazing, this is the only place in town I will go to for piercings or to buy piercing jewellery. Their wide variety of piercings makes this the best place to go to. The prices are also very fair. I have never gotten tattoo work from here but all tattoo work I have seen from here is really well done. I highly recommend this place, I love them so much.

Justin and Barbie are the only two people who I have let tattoo me and Im sticking with them because their work is amazing! They super friendly and are willing to work with you and your tattoo design. Im kinda picky and they didnt get annoyed with me when I asked them to change my design they understand that its your tattoo and youre going to have it forever and they want you to love it. Ive gotten 3 so far and Im always getting compliments on their work and recommending them to people!

So I have been trying to decide what i want to say for my review for the last week, and i have thought about it more and I am happy with my nose piercing, but was not happy with the piercing experience. i totally understand that mistakes happen, and i tried to have a good attitude about it, but i was not provided any compensation for the “oopsie” that was made. I am afraid that my piercing is not going to heal well due to both the trauma it experienced while piercing and the jewelry it was pierced with since they only had hoops. i have 9 other piercings and I can honestly say it was the worst and most painful one yet due to the mistake that was made. I gave three stars because the guy was nice and he did a good job on my friends piercings, but my experience was less than stellar.

Got my first tattoo there last night. I chose the place because it is clean and professional. Barbie is an amazing artist who helped me design the perfect, custom tattoo. Then in less than an hour she created a gorgeous work of art, using 7 colors, on my shoulder. She is friendly, professional, and extremely talented. I highly recommend Out on a Whim!

Barbie was amazing. She did a tattoo for my friend and I. We both came in knowing what we wanted but not where we wanted it. Barbie was super patient in hearing all of our ideas. She left the choice up to us but gave us tips on what would like best. She is knowledge and knows what she is talking about. Loved the atmosphere of the shop and my tattoo. I would come back in a heartbeat.

Justin did a amazing job. My tattoo was custom. I had a few different pictures and details from each picture that I wanted combined to make the tattoo that i wanted. Within a very short time of showing Justin what I wanted to do and how all the pictures put together would look he drew up the tattoo and it looked great. Justin is a very professional tattooist very clean environment in the shop. The new look inside the shop is amazing. Total remodel from the way the shop used to look. Very open and welcoming spacious and organized. Thanks for a great tattoo Justin. I would recommend this shop to my friends definitely will be returning here for my next tattoo.

Stopped by on Tuesday to get my Septum pierced and Samuel was awesome!!! I’ve had it done once before, at a separate location a couple years back and it was crooked, but this one was placed perfectly! I will be sure to be back for more piercings and hopefully a touch up on my tattoo too! :)

Kenny always took great care of me for my belly-button piercing needs. He was always very kind, encouraging and fun. I would go back to him for piercing to this day even though I moved out of the area after graduation. I would recommend him to anyone for piercings.

Stormy is so awesome. She helped us get earrings that were stuck off my daughters ears and she also pierced my babys ears. We love out on a whim. Everyone is friendly, professional and its sanitary as you would expect!

Went in the shop to check it out a few months ago, the guys were super nice. Took me a while to decide what I wanted. I went back three weeks ago to set up my tattoo. They said they would text me in a day or two of my tattoo they were going to draw up. I was excited but, they never called or texted.

The environment and everything is great they just do not have the right jewelry for piercings for example a tragus they have an L shape nose ring for your tragus and for your conch they have a hoop when you are supposed to start with a stud. they also told me to use contact solution to clean because it was basically the same as saline wound wash no hate to the company or the people working there just need to better get better products so there are more happy customers!

Kenny G is the greatest! Hes very knowledgable. And the area where he does the piercing is very sterile, very clean, he makes sure you are relaxed and makes the piercing experience as fun as possible. Not to mention the reasonable pricing! Enjoy!-Ive gotten my cartilage and naval piercing there

Had a few tattoos here from my main Artist Chuckie did great work as always. The shop was very friendly and chill, the people greeted me professionally and promptly, everything was clean and well lit. 5/5 couldnt recommend it more.

Justin and the crew at Out On a Whim tattoo are truly Masters in their craft!! Highly recommend them to anyone looking for great ink. Cannot say enough about the cover-up Norse sleeve that Justin did. One of a kind!!! Will be back again for the arm.

Kenny is the best and Ive gotten all my piercings from him! he is a giant flirt but means well! funny and has been awesome ever since i got my tongue pierced when i was 15 [with parent permission] havent gotten a tattoo there yet, still trying to talk price down just a bit :)

Do not go here if youre looking to deal with someone reasonable and intelligent. I came in to get my naval pierced. Ken, who does all the piercings, was overly sexual and completely rude and inappropriate with my friend and I while doing the piercing. He did not follow his own guideline dot when piercing me and as a result my piercing was crooked. The jewelry fell out on the first night and he refused to give me a refund when I came in again the next day to tell him I was dissatisfied with his service. He verbally harassed me and threw out several sexist comments before demanding that I leave his shop when I informed him I would be filing a complaint with the BBB and DeKalb chamber of commerce. The guy is a tool and it was the worst experience Ive ever had getting a piercing and dealing with another human being.

I went to protons as a walk in trying to get a small leg tattoo. When they told me the wait time was going to be 7 hours(which I know isnt ridiculous for a walk in) I remarked well shoot Im gonna check over at out on a whim the guy I was talking to started BASHING out on a whim. Saying all the artists they have now are horrible and cant draw a line. But being crunched on time and really wanting this tattoo I said f it and went to check out out on a whim. They got me in right away and did an AMAZING job on a kokopelli tattoo on my calf. It was a good experience and it was very VERY reasonably priced. I love protons and all but the wait times are sometime ridiculous for a spur of the moment tattoo. Out on a whim will definitely see me again.

Chucks did an amazing job on my first tattoo back in the spring! Such a friendly and comfortable environment, didn’t once feel anxious. Can’t wait to come back for my next 🤩

Went to get my tongue pierced, and was excited. I have have my tongue pierced 2 times before and this this was just not right. First, they all look so angry when you walk in. They were not friendly. The guy who pierced my tongue wasnt really friendly either, he pierced my tongue and did it wrong. It was crooked and he had to take it out. Never will go back. Im so disappointed and upset about this. He wasnt even sympathetic about what his did. Horrible place!

This was my 1st tattoo ever. I was nervous but Barbie made me feel at ease and did a phenomenal job. Showed my friend who is planning on getting anoter tattoo loved it and said she will be going there now for her next one

Got my first tattoo done by Justin after looking at several other shops in the area and Im glad I went with Out on a Whim. The staff is super friendly and professional. My wife and I wont be going anywhere else for all our future work.

They will take advantage of young people and over charge for tattoos. I got two finger tats and they charged me $170 and neglected to tell me their minimum is $65 a tattoo. If I knew this I wouldn’t have gone. Also had a artist who didn’t communicate he couldn’t do the tattoos I wanted and they are messed up and look like stick and pokes

Barbie was nice & had patience with me. She also helped add to the designs i brought in making them unique & beautiful. Shes a great artist.

I finally got my nose pierced. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the piercer whos personality, and customer service was OUT OF THIS WORLD! Thank you times a million! Will be back for my next piercing!

The best place to go for a first-timer. My wife felt safe and Lo was awesome. He got the artwork my wife wanted right down to the color and lines.

Kayla is THE BEST and I swear it. You will not find a better artist with more talent... ANYWHERE... I drive over y hours to have her tattoo me. WORTH IT! No one is touching what she does, not even close.

I pierced my naval there and he (Ken) made sure I was alright. He guide me through everything from how to take care of it and what I need to do. Recommend it, and it was really fast, and very good price.

The tattoos are nice they have some great ink that walks out their doors they are very clean the only complaint I have about it is they could use some better people for the peircings my friend was in there a while back getting a labret and it took the lady 3 different tries meaning she had to stab her several times and they were not prepared for if the peircings fell out while she was putting it on and had to put a completely different peircing in it good ink but sloppy peircings
