I had my daith pierced by John yesterday and had an amazing experience. John was extremely welcoming, explained everything thoroughly and was probably the best piercing (pain-wise, professionalism and kindness) I have ever gotten. I will 100% be back to see John asap!

Trust me, be wary if you’re going to the Hillsborough location.Unprofessional (my appointment was taken 30 minutes late due to the fact that an employee was getting a piercing). An employee who was on the clock; I know because they were laughing about the spontaneity of it while I was sitting on the couch waiting.Overpriced (I was told the $80 jewelry wouldn’t need to be tightened AT ALL and then the jewelry fell out and they refused to replace it).If you do go to this location for a piercing, I would recommend NOT using John. He is unprofessional and doesn’t give clear information. Give the tip to someone who deserves it.I’m fully expecting the company to dispute this review and make some excuse or another as they have with some other negative feedback but to anyone reading this I’m not telling you to not go here, I’m just saying you may be very disappointed if you use the same “professional piercer” that I did.

Both, my mom and I got our piercings done here. I had both lobed done, and my mom had her nostril done. John, who did both, was absolutely fantastic! He took the time to explain the process, the aftercare, everything, taking care to make us feel as comfortable as possible. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone who is looking to get a piercing done!

My piercer was Autymn. The definition of professionalism! A perfectly clean work and client spaces. Took the time to explain everything to me including what prices would be like and before and during every step of the piercing process. I could not recommend highly enough for newbie AND experienced pierced and tattooed members of society. Rock on, Black Moon! 🔥

Great service and a great experience overall! It was my first time getting a piercing and I couldn’t be happier. John was my practitioner, and he walked me through everything including the steps of the procedure and after-care. It was quick and I barely felt anything! :D

One of the best, cleanest, customer-focused places to get a piercing. Ive gotten piercings from other places when I lived in Montclair but since moving home I needed a new one and decided to try them out after all the great reviews I saw online. I got my nose ring replaced, 2 lobe piercings, and an eyebrow piercing from here, and have been impressed every time. Things I love: QUICK service lol, Im always early and they take me right away and get the process going, I have anxiety and know it can suck sitting in a waiting room waiting for a needle in you so getting things going is key for me. They keep my health and safety in mind and tell me breathing techniques. One time I was there I saw a family letting their infant get an ear piercing, so Im sure they did their research and trusted them as well lol.

John was amazing. I’ve had so many piercings over the years and i’ve never met anyone so personable and professional. He was so informational, and also so honest. Best piercer i’ve ever been to by far; he made me feel so comfortable and relaxed, i didnt even know when my piercing was through the skin!

Ive gotten five piercings from Victoria (over the course of a year or two), and Ive enjoyed the experience everytime! Victoria does such an amazing job explaining the process of how/why she is doing things, and what the piercing will feel like. Shes given me such amazing piercings and advice. She is so amazing and I would totally recommend her!

The best experience ever. victoria is so amazing. she was careful and thoughtful explaining everything in detail. she made the experience so fun and exciting and helped me perfectly curate my ear piercing placements and jewelry. my friend and i were beyond happy with our experience and plan to return to continue building our ear designs. also, the person working the front reception desk was also wonderful, however i unfortunately did not catch a name. overall 10/10 experience and i am looking forward to returning to victoria soon!

I found Black Moon literally just by googling for piercing spots near me, BUT I went there because they had 5 star reviews across the board. I was able to make a same day appointment so quick and easy on the phone, and let me tell you, they did not disappoint! I walked in to this VERY clean establishment and was greeted by Brie, who was super nice, funny, and chill - made me feel comfortable right away! She explained jewelry prices up front (much appreciated) and helped me pick some sweet opal earrings for my double helix piercings. She literally deserves more than 5 stars for how she prepares you for exactly what she is going to do - the process, the sounds you might hear, how to breathe during the actual piercing process - and she talks to you like you have been friends forever! You might not think that’s necessary, but it makes you forget you’re about to get a needle pushed through your ear..and in my case, twice! I 100% recommend going to see Brie and I WILL be going back for more piercings! I also just wanted to point out that the other girl who was there today (sorry I didn’t get your name!) was also very kind. That means a lot to me so it’s worth mentioning!

Black Moon Piercing is the best! My girlfriend and I got septum piercings somewhat impulsively and John was fantastic. He was professional and informative, super friendly and made the whole experience a surprising joy!John thoroughly explained jewelry options, but also didnt pressure me to spend more than I wanted, which has happened in the past with other piercers. He checked that all piercings were in a good placement anatomically, took time sterilizing everything, and made us feel really comfortable and at ease. John is great at his job but also genuinely nice, and I would recommend him to anyone!

Brie pierced my daughter’s helix & double lobes. She is very knowledge & so personable. The process was quick, professional, & extremely clean. She made my daughter feel comfortable & explained after care clearly. She even responded quickly a week later when we had an after care question. Picking out the bling was lots of fun too! The piercings were done in 2 separate visits, when returning for the 2nd round of piercing we received a warm welcome! Highly recommend Blackmoon Piercing Hillsborough & Brie! Set up same day appointment. Had a great experience, Brie was lovely and great at explaining the piercing process and post piercing care. Was in and out pretty quickly and am definetly going to return for more. Pretty good selection of jewelry, though to be expected was a little bit more expensive than going to a dedicated jeweler. Absolutely worth it to have a knowledgeable and experienced piercer though and combined with the ease of the process makes me happy to give them a 5/5.

Get: a piercing (or two or three) from Brie and some beautiful earrings!Im addicted. I had four ear piercings before I came to Black Moon Piercing and now I have 11 and am thinking on what my 12th and 13th should be. The additional piercings were all done at Black Moon Piercing and my favorite piercer: Brie!Brie is so kind and patient. She has a great sense of style on jewelry and where a piecing should be placed. Shes also very open to feedback. When I wanted something slightly to the left or right, she has no problem adjusting. I havent gone to any other studio because of her. The ear photos after the appointment always come out great. Shes been helping me create a celestial earscape and I cant wait to see how my ears will turn out this year!This location has a good selection of jewelry and is very clean. Plenty of parking.Im a huge fan of this location and will be coming back in February.

Nuggets helped me remove my rook, helix and tragus piercings before an MRI. Then a few days later helped me select some fabulous new jewelry to put back in. He was incredibly kind and respectful of my budget, and able to recommend unique jewelry that fits well with my style. Great, clean shop. Welcoming staff. Would definitely recommend!

Brie was wonderful! I got a second hole in each ear and a third in my left. My first ear piercings were done when I was young and they were very uneven. Brie spaced my new piercings perfectly and now you cant tell how uneven my bottom holes are. She was super sweet and I had a great experience.The shop itself was clean and inviting. They had a wide jewelry selection and friendly staff. Highly recommend.

My piercer was Brie and she was so nice!!! She answered all of my questions and made me laugh!!!! I totally recommend her! She didn’t rush me at all and kept making sure that I loved where the piercing would be! I had an amazing experience and I would go back again!!!

John is the man. Super nice guy and took his time but didnt waste time. My piercing came out better than I could ever hoped and has been healing great! Placement was perfect. Couldnt ask for more out of a piercer. Definitely request him when coming in!

Sami was incredible with my 8 year old! She was very sweet, patient when my 8yo was nervous, and made her feel at ease. She made us both feel important and not rushed at all during at part of the experience including picking out jewelry, cleaning, the piercing, and after care instructions. She walked us through the entire process step by step. I honestly can’t say enough good things about Sami and the whole shop. Everyone was welcoming and the shop was very clean. If I could put 10 stars for Black Moon Piercing and Brie Usher, I would. The space is extremely clean, organized, and aesthetically pleasing and the woman at the front desk was extremely accommodating. Even after seven piercings, I still have a fear of needles. However, when I immediately met Brie, her vibrant, outgoing, and positive personality shined through and turned my anxiety into excitement. Everything was sterilized before and I felt more than comfortable having this wonderful human put a needle through my nose. She was very knowledgeable about both the jewelry (color, sizing, pricing) as well as the piercing itself and aftercare. Brie and Black Moon Piercing made my piercing experience such an enjoyable one to remember. I rarely write reviews but Brie and Black Moon Piercing truly deserves one!

Black Moon Piercing Hillsborough is the best piercing shop Ive been to. The staff is so nice and professional and make you feel comfortable. I got great advice and guidance when I was picking the jewelry and on how to take care of my piercing. Brie was awesome! They were so fun to talk to and made me feel so comfortable. Brie was professional, funny, and welcoming, which made the experience even better. They answered all my questions and were really attentive. My 8 week follow-up was great too! Brie remembered my friends and I and did a great job at reassuring everything was going well in my healing process. Love this place highly recommend!

Came from South Jersey for the Friday the 13th event.Mr. Nuggets was incredible. I got both nostrils pierced. He was pretty good with the symmetry on the first try considering my nose is slightly uneven. He was informative, patient, and so nice. The pain was more than I was anticipating (maybe a 7.5 out of 10), but he let me have a few minutes to myself before completing the next nostril. Afterwards, he even gave me a cup of water! APP approved piercers are everything!!!If I had more money/was closer to this location, Id definitely be stopping by more often.

I’ve been going to Black Moon for the past year and I love them! I have gotten pierced by Nuggets and Brie. Today, I got my septum done by Brie. She took out the old one (not pierced by her) and gave me a new one which is perfect! 10/10 would recommend this shop and anyone who works there. Very clean, very nice and knowledgeable people as well.

Brie did an exceptional job piercing my 8-year old daughters ears. She is great with kids. Her relaxed and friendly demeanor made it an enjoyable experience for my daughter, who told me afterwards: Brie is SOOOOOO NICE! I also really appreciated how professional and friendly the staff are and they were very gracious even though we were late to our appointment. They were also very understanding when my other daughter (age 6) opted out of her piercing. :) The premises is very clean and hygienic which made me feel comfortable having my childs ears pierced there, and I say this both as a parent and as a professional in quality assurance for a medical device company. Most important is the happy memory my daughter will have of her surprise ear piercing. Thank you Brie and Black Moon!

Love this place! Nuggets did my second lobe piercings. He was upfront with me when my ear shape and older piercings wouldnt work with the piercing locations I had envisioned. He was really patient and worked with me to find alternative spots for the piercings. I really appreciated how informative he was, plus the whole studio is super clean. I got my naval pierced and everyone is so nice and the place is very very clean. I was lucky enough to get John to be my piercer. If you are looking for someone that explains the steps so youre not nervous he is the guy to go to. He did everything perfect and I am so happy with my piercing. This shop is great! Everyone is so friendly & personable. My bf and I originally had an appointment at the edison shop for my nose & his dermal but they didnt have the backings for his… BUT we were able to come here & get his dermal done & Brie was his piercer! This chicks awesome. Shes bubbly, happy and makes you feel totally welcomed and comfortable. I got to watch the process and she let me record it which i appreciate because in other places Ive been told, only one person in a room. It was a great experience and his dermal looks great & his smile even better!

ADDING A SECOND REVIEW JANUARY 2022:I had Brie pierce me about a year ago - I went in and wanted something that wouldnt work for my body; so she helpfully coached me through getting something else that I have loved, loved, loved ever since! I had to take them out this week though, for an MRI, and I was too worried about them going back in right that I booked a jewelry change to help reinstall.Not ONLY was Brie wonderful, chatty, and comforting - but between having to re-do (with a different gauge) my newer piercings, and replacing a broken piece of jewelry shes sending back to the manufacturer with a temporary I really like - Ive ended up well-taken care of.11/10 recommend Brie and the crew at Black Moon. I will be back in a few weeks once my earring is fixed to add more and shes already helping me plan the expansion to my ear. I am 15 years old and I came with my mom to Brie for my third piercing experience. She did my second helix and my third lobes. Brie was so awesome, she made made me feel at ease like I was getting pierced by one of my friends! She played music, we talked movies, but she was very serious about the proper care of my piercings. Brie spent a lot of time and attention to the placement of my jewelry for the piercing and made sure I was happy before continuing. The most professional and clean piercing shop I have ever been to! I have been using another shop but now work in the area of Hillsborough so I was finally able to try out black moon piercing and I will 100% be back there. I had an appointment today with brie and she was simply amazing! From the moment I walked into the shop , until I left I had the best experience and I thank her for that. I have been wanting to add a second nostril piercing but was unsure of the placement and she gave me a recommendation of where she thought it would look good, I went with her placement and I absolutely love it. If you are in the area I HIGHLy recommend blackmoon and brie!

I went today to get my daith pierced. But Brie advised that they were too shallow, which I agreed with. Instead, I got my orbital on the right side and an industrial on the left. Im so pleased that I went to see Brie for my piercings. She was so professional and sweet. The establishment was super clean, tidy. The earrings I chose are such amazing quality. I’ve seen Brie at both the Green Brook and Hillsborough locations- for a nostril ring change and most recently for a rook piercing. Both locations are great and Brie herself is the best. She works in a professional manner while keeping it friendly and making sure you’re comfortable during the entire process. Highly recommend her!

I had an awesome experience getting my nose pierced at Black Moon! The quality and assortment of jewelry, as well as the personable service made it certain that I will be returning:) Brie was so fun to talk to and did an amazing job of making my friend and I feel comfortable before the piercings. And of course the most important part, I loved how mine turned out!

Came in and Bri was immediately ready and so kind. Made sure we were okay with the prices before they went through with anything. Checked with us every step of the way and did whatever we needed to make us comfortable. Will absolutely be coming back here for any future piercings. I wanted to get my 8 month old daughter’s ears pierced and was uneasy about taking her to a “strip mall” piercer like Claire’s. I did some googling and found BMP. When I called they told me that they had someone who specialized in babies and I was super excited because I knew between that and their great reviews, I finally felt comfortable about where to take her to get this done. The place was very clean and everyone who works there is pleasant and welcoming. They all made a fuss over my baby which i loves of course, haha. Brie pierced her ears and was so unbelievably gentle and fun. Of course my daughter cried during the procedure but was fine 5 min after. Brie did a beautiful job and you could tell she was very experienced. We took the baby back 6 weeks later for longer posts (standard procedure) and Brie said her ears looked great and were healing/healed. Overall just a really good experience. Definitely a little pricy, but how can you put a price on making sure the place you go to is clean and knows their stuff?!? Worth it. Highly recommend. Thanks Brie!! We will always remember this experience :).

I cant recommend this shop enough!!! If I could give more stars I absolutely would. I got my nose pierced last week with Brie who was so professional, friendly, and calm (which is great for someone who is anxious with needles like me!). I have wanted this done for years and my nerves were high, but Brie went through so many extra hoops to help me feel ready (Im talkin playing Taylor swift and giving me a lollipop) I love my new piercing and gold stud so much. It was truly the little details with this shop that made my experience so quality. If youre on the fence about where to go around NJ for a new piercing go here and request Brie!

I cannot recommend this place enough. Brie was a great piercer and she honestly made my day with her fun personality. The only real drawback of the experience is that it did take me a second to figure out exactly where I had to go to actually get to the studio but that was more my bad because Im garbage with directions. Brie pierced my daughters ears and we couldnt have been happier with the experience. She was kind, patient and very thorough. Let’s be real, piercings hurt but I some how always end up getting one and I wouldn’t want anyone else to do it besides literally anyone at black moon. Trustworthy, honest, clean, thorough, and genuine is only grazing the surface of the business and the people that work here. They take their time and they don’t rush you because they care and that is just something most piercing studios don’t do. I have been pierced at other studios in the past unfortunately, but never again. I constantly refer everyone I know to anyone at black moon because I know they won’t be disappointed. Little over a month ago, I had my nostril pierced by Brie and I must say that I am not disappointed at all! They gave thorough instructions on how to take care of the piercing so it doesn’t get infected and they were extremely professional while making the whole experience exciting. I got my vertical labret by Payton, I’ve been looking for a good piercer that was understanding and kind. I’ve had issues with previous pieces but Payton made me feel safe and more than satisfied with my piercing. I am so happy I traveled an hour an half to get pierced by them, and I would do it again. They were quick and fast,as well as sweet. My piercing came out so perfect! I would definitely recommend going to them.

It’s a friday night right now and i’m out drunk but i’m writing this review because i’m thinking about my piercer 😭😭 she made such an impression on me that i had to write this review like now.yes i’m talking about miss Brie!!!:)it was my first time coming here, i initially came in for just a nostril change. but i end up changing 2 piercings and re-piercing 2. thanks to Brie for fixing my almost closed up holes that i wasn’t aware that it was closing up… thank god for her.i love the vibe and the decor of the location, but this review is mainly for my piercer. Brie was lovely, patient and helpful. i couldn’t decide which piercings to get, and which ones to match with all 3 of my nostril piercings, but Brie helped me come together with many different looks. not once i felt rushed nor pressured and sometimes i feel that way whenever i got to some places. I got pierced by Brie on March 9th, 2022, and it was such an amazing experience!! She chose such a perfect spot for my ear (the snake earring). Brie was so cool, and really cared about her customers, as well as make sure they’re comfortable.

After a nose piercing gone wrong, I ended up having my jewelry taken out by another piercer who at the time was not doing nostril piercings due to COVID. She highly recommended Payton for any future piercings.I found them on Instagram and immediately asked a bunch of questions/let them know about my concerns and eventually ended up scheduling a piercing -- all through DM!As soon as I walked into the shop, I was greeted by Payton who has such a calm and friendly energy. They took the time to help me pick out my jewelry and made me feel very comfortable with the entire process. I also love that the shop had threadless jewelry, were extremely clean/COVID precautious, and very knowledgable.Since my initial piercing in February, Ive gotten the dreaded piercing bump twice. Each time, I panicked and messaged Payton and they have been sooo kind and patient to calm me down and offer suggestions to keep using the saline.I highly recommend Black Moon Piercing -- Ill be going back to Payton for any future piercings!

The studio is super chill and welcoming, and everyone ive talked to there has been super nice and helpful! I highkey recommend Brie as one of the piercers there, They have done three of my piercings now and not only has she been very helpful when i had questions especially after the appointment, they also were super chill and easy to talk to, and very professional during the appointment :)

Brie pierced my daughter’s ears and she was great! My daughter had a meltdown in between ears but Brie stuck with her and got it done! I’d definitely recommend her to anyone with kids.

Great job piercing my 10 year old daughters ears. Very professional and the piercer made the experience less scary. The holes are healing nicely with no sign of infection. So glad we didnt get her ears pierced at the mall like I did when I was her age.

We got my daughters ears pierced by Max in December. He was amazing with her, especially after she got scared after the first ear. Her ears healed quickly with no issues. She was thrilled, and it was 100% worth going to a piercer to get them done. Wed go back to him in a heartbeat

Went in to replace my lip ring. Bri helped me pick out and an awesome opal piece in the perfect size. She also helped me take out my old piece and replace it. The room was impeccably clean and the service was outstanding. 💕❣️ Can’t wait to go back for a new piercing!

I got my nostril pierced with Payton. they were a very calming presence when i was obviously nervous and shaking and they didn’t judge when i couldn’t afford some of the pricier jewelry. they were gentle, worked fast, and were very thorough when explaining how to care for and clean the piercing. it was also very clean and covid precautions were followed and taken seriously, highly recommend

I went to get my sons ears pierced and swap out some existing jewelry. Payton was awesome! They made sure my son was comfortable and went over every step of the process with him. I would definitely recommend Payton for anyone looking to get a quality piercing.

Payton pierced my Medusa and Septum yesterday and all I can say is if I could rate her more stars I would. Extremely clean and extremely professional. Along with the super friendly staff that is also there, I can not stress enough on how amazing my experience was. I will definitely be back, and I definitely recommend Payton!

I can not recommend this place enough! I got my cartilage piercing done by Alex Christopher. Great guy and piercer. He is very quick and he lets you know exactly what he is doing. Alex only does piercings but Brian was super nice as well. He took are temperatures and helped us fill out the forms. Very nice place with extremely nice people!

My experience with this piercer was not good. The actual piercing part was fine, I went to have my tragus pierced in September. It was painful but the piercer was very personable & informative & everything healed up nicely. The piercer assured me that when I was ready to change my piercing out for a new one, I would book an appointment so the piercer themself could change it. Little did I know, that this wouldn’t be the case. After 6 weeks of trying to get an appointment, I finally got one. I was happy until the receptionist informed me that I could only change out my piercing with jewelry bought from their store. Mind u, their jewelry and piercing service is frankly very overpriced, and I already had jewelry I wanted To use. I asked why & they just said it’s policy, the piercer will not change out my piercing with jewelry I bring from home unless I can prove that it is sourced from a list of a few specific brands. This makes no sense considering all you need to do to ensure a safe change of jewelry is disinfect the jewelry and any instrument or hand that is inserting it. Furthermore they have no liability regardless, even if it caused infection it’s not like I can sue them. Now I know what ur thinking, why didn’t I just go somewhere else to change it out? Well u may be surprised to find it is almost impossible to get a piercer to change out a tragus. I have called all over New Jersey & no one is willing to do it. I ended up doing it myself using a shot glass of disinfectant and the assistance of my mother. It took almost an hour and ended up causing my piercing to bleed since neither of us is experienced doing this. Hopefully no infection occurred I took every step to ensure it didn’t. I have beef with black moon because why would they purposely deceive me into thinking they would change the jewelry for me. My piercer bri must have been aware of their “store policy” in which they only will change jewelry if u buy some of their outrageously overpriced items. But she told me that she would have no issue changing out my jewelry and conveniently forgot to mention this alleged policy. Overall, this piercer is deceptive and extremely overpriced. The original piercing and store jewelry cost 200$.

I went in to get my nose pierced on the opposite side of one i got done years ago(from someone else) Charli made sure they looked perfect (my other one was deff not in the right stop from what i’ve always thought) but the new onecame out beautiful. They also helped me get a new hoop for my old piercing because as they said “it’s a triangle” the overall experience was 10/10. great vibes from reception to the piercing table. i will 100% be back for more!

Immaculately clean shop and great people. I had my septum and eyebrow (horizontal) pierced. Done by Max Kosten. My experience there was great. He made me feel very comfortable and at ease (I was a little nervous about my septum) Excellent place to go and get pierced. I would recommend him to anyone.

Lost my nose piercing while sleeping they had done for me a month ago, the same piercer who did it put the new back in for me. Both times ive had really great experiences and would not get pierced anywhere else. Thanks john and blackmoon piercing

I must say, I have never ever in my life seen such a beautifully organized, clean, solid shop until i walked in to black moon! So friendly too, I mean it really feels like I’ve know everyone I came in contact with for years! I was assisted by Max at the Hillsborough location and I was so impressed with his knowledge and professionalism I KNEW I was in good hands. I’m beyond happy with my experience here I will most certainly be back I am a customer for life!!!!!

Sara was fabulous. I got a rose gold jack-o-lantern 🎃 for my nostril. The jewelry is stunning and looks great with my skin tone. I can’t wait for the Christmas jewelry to come out as I’ll be back to purchase and change out again. Thanks again Sara! See you soon.

I came in to get my septum pierced by Brie and the whole process was extremely easy. The studio is extremely clean, and sanitary especially with COVID precautions. Would definitely recommend!!

Charli did my septum piercing and they did a great job, they walked me through the entire process both before and during the piercing which really helped settle my nerves. The piercing itself is super cute and I couldn’t be happier!!

Clean, hygienic and family friendly. Both kids got their tattoos done here and they both are very happy with the results.

Everyone there was friendly, they have real good metal: titanium and gold you can choose between the two. They give good service and I would recommend to go here if you need a piercing. Five stars no doubt.

Ahh I love this place I wont go anywhere else!! I love how they clean the needles & everything in front of you. And the staff is always so cool too. I had my Tragus & conch done by charlie, double conch and stacked lobe (the good one) by Peyton and my double flat by Brie. They’re all the best!! I’ll probably be back when everything heals :)

Worst experience I ever had at a piercing set an appointment for 1 pm and waiting for 30 minutes just for them to tell me that I had to wait another hour and a half… this was unprofessional the girl at the counter doesn’t know how to schedule appointments would not recommend.
