Mike is absolutely the best. He’s fixed multiple of my old piercings that other shops messed up . Did my industrial and eyebrow piercing and the pain was next to nothing. All the staff is so friendly and amazing!

This place was Recommended to me for ear piercings. It was daughters first time. Keith was awesome. He took his time and was patient. He made sure the placement was perfect with measuring etc. He gave clear instructions and made my child feel comfortable. I would highly recommend him and the needle piercing over the gun at the mall any day. Yes it does take longer but the outcome is much better as well as the care that was given. The trauma the gun can cause to the ear is bad. He gave directions on how to care for ears, much different than when I was a kid and he took the time to explain why. Thank you Keith.

Just got my septum pierced today, Mike was awesome! Taught me more info about piercings and aftercare than anyone else, I didn’t know how much misinformation there is in the piercing community. Apparently saline spray is not the way with piercing care, it just dries out the cells and slows healing.Thanks for a great experience! I’m so happy to have my new nose ring!

So frustrated and dissatisfied. Went in for forward helix piercings and was not told about all the aftercare until *after* the piercing (red flag #1). Bottom one healed fine but the top one became problematic for 10 months after. I came in to have it assessed and honestly just requested that the top one be taken out where I was urged on the spot to keep it and try a few more things like titanium jewelry swap, hot compresses 3-5x a day (absurd) and to move my bed against a wall because *science* (again, absurd). 3 weeks later I call to come in and have it taken out FOR REAL this time as the irritation bumbs were not getting any better. I made an APPOINTMENT for a removal, no questions asked by the employee only to drive 30 minutes there and be told by the piercer (a different one than I previously dealt with) that he couldnt remove it with the bumps on it............... Are we kidding? He was super rude (didnt greet me, didnt make initial eye contact when he asked what I was there for) condescending and made me feel like an idiot. It took everything in me to not raise a fuss as it was clearly a losing battle. The shop had no issues CHANGING the jewelry with bumps to make a sale but couldnt remove the jewelry altogether weeks later? Now I have a painful piercing I cant remove on my own and need to seek a new piercer. I PROMISE you, the next shop I take my business to will be affiliated with the APP (association of professional piercers).

Amazing place so professional and clean! I went to Keith for a nose piercing and eyebrow piercing and he is the best piercer i’ve been to in a long time. he made me feel so comfortable and is very knowledgeable about piercings. I am definitely going back for future piercings.

I’ve got my all my piercings done here and there always so nice I had Keith do all my ear piercings and I had Mike do my lip piercings. I got the lip piercings done recently and I had some issues with one of them because of a previous injury and Mike has been so good and checking in and making sure I’m doing ok, the place is very clean and they take there time with making sure it’s in a good area and your happy with it. 10/10 I love it there

Took my daughter to get her ears (lobes) repierced since they werent done properly (at another time and place). Mike was awesome, listened to everything we had to say and our concerns. Addressed everything we brought up and then some, provided a bit more education for both of us as well. My daughter is very happy with her new piercings and the jewelry. I had gotten my nose piercing somewhere else and always had issues. I came here for help and Mike always helped me out. Eventually we decided it would just be best to get it redone, because it wasn’t in the right spot. Mike redid my nose piercing and was super careful with the placement and helped me pick a size/material/style that would be best for me. He took his time and it was a 10/10 experience, it’s so much better now! Seriously he knows what he is doing if you ever need a piercing go to him!!

Ive gotten 2/3 of my piercings done here (belly, septum, nose stud) - Got my septum done here last august by Mike and my nose stud done over the weekend by Keith!! Both are great and will keep coming back! Very clean shop, explain every step of the way and how to take care of the piercing. Carries the aftercare stuff as well. I love how my piercings look, keep up the great job guys :)

I’ve been pierced at many places but after the first time coming to south side I’ve never gone anywhere else. Mike is extremely knowledgeable and professional even if I just have a question he always has an answer for me. But for example i have a stud on each nostril and my goal was for them to be symmetrical and I couldn’t have asked for a better job done. Keith also is very professional he pierced my industrial and I had just as good of an experience. Absolute 5 star experience every time!

Went in with two of my friends to get pierced, had an amazing experience with Mike. He was super chill, made us comfortable and the piercing was quick and painless, and he didn’t rush us at all. Even switched out one of my piercings for me to something better suited. Super knowledgable about his profession, and very clean environment. I took my girlfriend there to get her nose pierced after getting recommendations from a few people. The shop was clean and neat, and the service was excellent. The man who pierced her nose, Mike Curtin, was very professional, knowledgeable, and had a great personality. I highly recommend this place!Update: my girlfriend had let the earing holes in her ears close up during covid and wanted to get them re-pierced. Went today and Mike did that plus another piercing in the cartilage. Excellent job again. Hes a very personable guy, great bedside manners. Were going to be going back soon for her to get a tattoo (which would be with a different artist, as Mike only does piercings).

Mike was so friendly and helpful. My friend and I got our noses pierced together and simultaneously both started to feel sick and Mike, who was so sweet, got us water and damp towels to help until we felt better. Great service would recommend :)

I got my lower lip pierced and Mike did a great job. When going through the aftercare with me he explained everything very thorough. What made me go there in the first place was I had gotten my tregus pierced about a week before that someplace else and when Mike asked about my aftercare because it still looked a little red and swollen, he had said that I shouldnt be using the saline that I was using. So after I stopped using the saline and just did what he told me to do my piercing healed pretty quick after that. I was going to get my lip pierced at the same place because I had just gotten a tattoo from there but they couldnt do it. So I went to Southside to get a new stone because mine fell out and decided to book an appointment for my lip and he did amazing with me. Ill definitely go back for another one. Which ever or whenever that might be. Thank you Mike for doing a great job. Ill be back again.

Ive never heard a bad report. Its clean , its comfortable and most importantly 100% the CORRECT place to visit if your looking for a piercing or tattoo. They carry aftercare products and instructions, as well as being keen on advice. I got my belly button done here when I was sixteen, Mike did an awesome job. it was called Blood Sweat and Ink then , I have brought several of my friends since then including my daughter. Im 36 now, they have a new name But not Although Mike is still in there , following the guidelines, getting YOU done.

I have been going to this place since I got my first tattoo at 19 (I am in my mid-30s). They have done 3 out of my 4 tattoos so far, and I plan to go back. They also did my recent nose piercing. Mike is insanely intelligent and takes hygiene, cleanliness, and professionalism very seriously. He answered every one of my questions and gave me all the tools I needed so I felt comfortable in my healing process.

Got my septum pierced here today and Keith was so patient with me (first piercing) he was a little silly but very professional and made me feel calm and just made the experience better than i thought it would be. If i could give more than five stars I absolutely would, definitely recommending south side to everyone :)

I’ve never been much of a review person but my experiences here have been so phenomenal that I wanted to give a huge shout out to Mike, by far the best piercer I’ve come across and trust me I’ve tried quite a few. He’s done piercings for me, my sister and a ton of my friends and I’ve never had anyone say one negative thing about him and his work. I took my 15yr old for a nose piercing. From the moment I walked in I felt the Welcoming and the Covid restrictions very well done. I have gotten all my piercings here since I was 18 I am now 29, both Tragus, my rook, conch, industrial, tongue and my nose. they also changed my older cartilage jewelry . Im pretty sure Mike did all of them, I definitely know he did my nose which is the last piercing I got. He was super cool, gentle, made me feel comfortable. All my piercing went smoothly minimal swelling and healed beautifully. Highly recommend!

Southside tattoo is excellent. I had the pleasure of working with Di over the weekend. I had an old tattoo that was recently touched up at a different shop. I wasnt crazy about the work and wanted to add to it. I made the appointment with Di and I couldnt be happier with her work. Its awesome. She fixed everything that I wasnt happy with the other shop and absolutely perfected my new tattoos. She placed them perfectly and they came out flawless! I got my septum pierced here and I was terrified at first. I heard nothing but horror stories about the piercing, and how much it hurt. But the guy who pierced me was genuinely concerned about me and how I felt about the piercing. He was talkative and it really calmed me down exponentially. Probably the best experience Ive ever had with a piercing!

Honestly, I am a native to Howell and have heard HORROR stories about this place when I was a kid. However, my friend had gotten a tattoo done here a few times and her tattoos were pretty impressive, so I decided to try it. I had the nicest tattoo artist ever (I forget her name, but she was this cute asian girl, very sweet). She was SUPER gentle and I did not feel a thing! Overall, my perspective on this place definitely changed and I would be more than willing to go back. Very clean, friendly and welcoming.

I had my nose pierced about 4 years ago in a tattoo shop in Lanoka Harbor, NJ. Disaster!! Dirty and smokey. Had to pierce twice before he could get ring in. Dirty and missed the mark piercing my nostril. It was so close to the opening that the wire hung out..horrible. Went to South Side and Mike did an unbelievable job. No pain, clean, professional and pierced my nose right where I wanted it! So happy with it and glad I gave it a second shot!!!

Wife and I went in for tattoos. We knew what we wanted but the artist did a great job in suggesting something alittle different. We are so pleased with the work they did. Will definitely go back for more ink. Very professional clean place.

I did research trying to find the best place. Sadly the reviews were wrong and I had to remove both piercings and am hoping that I dont get a keloid. When the piercings were removed at a different location (per my doctor) due to an infection. The piercer who removed my piercings informed me that a number of things were done wrong. First a hoop not a stud should have been used. Secondly due to my sensitive skin a nickle free ring should have been used. Finally I got miss instruction on how to care for my new piercings. Hopefully the piercer at this shop gets better educated before piercing another. (NO STARS IF I COULD)

When I went in to get a tattoo, Jodee, the artist, did not seem too thrilled about it. It being my first tattoo ever, I was just nice and let the professional do what she needed. Few weeks after the tattoo I noticed that the lines were uneven, as in it goes from thick to thin to thick again. The designs were poorly done and doesnt look even. Since its many months since I got it I just wont bother going back to ask for a touch up/get it fixed. It sucks that my first tattoo was kind of butchered and I will not be coming back for another tattoo.

Went to South side for my first tattoo! The employees there were extremely nice. They very clearly explained the post-tattoo care that was needed. My artist did an amazing job on my tattoo! I would recommend her to anyone!

I called to try to make an app for a touch up.. dude who answered the phone was super rude!!!! He said hes booked (ok, thats fine, I get it).. then he continued to say, I wouldnt do that anyway.. in a rude, stuck up tone!! This shop is now on our 86 board!! NOPE!! Im glad I read the reviews!! Others said they were rude!!

Very rude - will not get my business ever. We brought a Global Entry ID for our daughter who is 16, they did not accept it. OK - we can fly to Mexico with it, but alright, we went back for her passport. The picture is too old they said but as a government ID it is valid for international travel for 2 more years! Obviously, they had an agenda to say no regardless of what we brought there. Good luck getting referrals .

Loved Mike who repierced the top piercing on my ear and pierced my ear in a different stop. The prices are very reasonable and I would recommend Mike to anyone.

Dont waste your time . The attitude of the owner is almost as bad as his tattoos. The placement of my tattoo is off. Lines are crooked, ink is faded, and coloring out side of the lines. And a few scars. His appearance wasnt very appealing but I decided to give him a chance anyway, big mistake. I followed his care card as instructed. When I went back to show him and tell him how bad of a job he did, he blamed it on me for using too much ointment. Totally dissatisfied.

I go here for all of my piercing and dont go to anybody else. Mike is an awesome guy and does a great job

They were really good with my peircings and my sisters tatto but if you are getting a ose peircing and preffer a gun they do not use those her as peircing pimples will form if not treated correctly.

Got a bellybutton piercing here a while back.....I can honestly say....it was the most painful thing I have ever experienced.... I’m not sure why.....I have tattoos and few piercings and nerves had problems with the pain of needles.....but wow, just thinking about it makes me cringe...besides the pain the staff was very friendly and welcoming...

I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for any type of piercing! Everyone here is so nice and friendly, and I’ve had nothing but good experiences.
