My wife and I have been going to MCT for a few years now. I great Tattoo shop. The artist are all great and very professional. Juan Guzman has done 7 pieces on me and they are all my favorite. He makes the time enjoyable with great conversation while there is needle piercing my skin over 1000 times but who would know. I have recommended Juan to my family and friends and I recommend him to you. I will see soon Juan for my next one.

I’ve been going to mechanical concept for the past two years to see Billy! He has done most of my sleeve and I cannot recommend him enough. As a young woman, mechanical concept creates a safe and comfortable environment for me to go and get tatted alone or with friends! Billy is the best, the collaboration and execution of each tattoo I get from him is immaculate. Big shoutout to mechanical concept, local shop with a heart of gold.

I’ve been coming here for years for multiple tattoos. Billy has been amazing, helping us come up with designs and executing them beautifully. My mom, aunt, and I came to him with a couple vague ideas for a memorial tattoo for my grandpa. Billy put together an amazing piece. My mom and I also have matching full sleeves from him. My husband is getting a sleeve from him too. I absolutely highly recommend him because his skills go far above and beyond being able to tattoo well!

I started going to Draper at the beginning of the month to work on a mandala sleeve and it was the best decision! I sent him ideas of the sleeve I wanted and let him have creative freedom and he did not disappoint!! He’s quick, his hand is light and his line work is perfect. Ive been going to this shop for about 10 years and Ive gotten all my tattoos done here. Its so comfortable, clean, welcoming. And as a woman I never feel intimidated or talked down to here. I’ve been here twice for myself and once for my daughter. Billy tatted us all three times. The tattoos we got were pretty simple considering Billy’s talent. Just look as his portfolio, he’s amazing. He’s friendly and easy to talk to. He has a light hand too, I’ve had many tattoos over the years and they don’t seem to hurt much at all. I 1000% recommend Billy.

I found the Mechanical Concept through Google. I was looking for a specific tattoo, intricate. Juan Guzman did it. I had nothing more than a lots of compliments on his art work . From clean job to well done to very nice , to wow! to a good job!!! He is very professional and it is very relaxing while having a tattoo with him. So far he has made 7 of all my 10 tattoos . I recommend him without doubt.his art work varies from old school to modern.

My tattoo artist was Juan. I came in for 2 tattoos and left with 3. He was very patient with me. He made sure to ask every 10 minutes if I was okay and how I was going. His work is phenomenal. I was very pleased with the outcome of my tattoos! Hes very respectful and super sweet. I usually get so nervous or scared before a tattoo but he definitely made me feel comfortable. Found Draper from Mechanical Concept on IG and had three pieces done by him. Fantastic experience and amazing work! The in-shop experience was super professional, relaxed and casual. Left with clear instruction of aftercare, and the pieces are already well on their way to healing. All three tattoos that I got required fine line work, and Draper absolutely killed it. I left so stoked on the work he did, and plan on coming back to him for my future pieces. This is definitely the place and Draper is definitely the guy to go to for your next tattoo!

I really recommend you this tattoo shop!I traveled to LA with my family from Japan in June, 2023. And we visited here because my younger brother wanted to get a tattoo. I just started learn English So my English was not good, He has never got tattoos and cant speak English So he was nervous but Billy was really kind, Billy made him laugh. He got the tattoo of hawk. Billy Sarno is the artist Ive been happily going to for over 10 years. Hes done tons of work on me (and my partner too). He actually listens to my ideas and throws in his advice to make them come to life. He even tells me if something wont work or wouldnt look right, which I really appreciate. He has skill in every type of style. One of the things I like about him is hes just a normal, nice guy, easy to talk with, funny and genuinely cares about your comfort and satisfaction. Did I mention, hes got the lightest hand of any of my previous artists!? Thats big! Also, they play cool movies so you can zone out and relax while getting worked on. Great pricing and great work.I highly recommend Billy, you wont be sorry!

I love this shop. Juan is my guy! I’ve also had work done by Billy as well. Both are so awesome, accommodating and friendly. Not one time have I been intimidated by this shop. When I was referred to Juan to complete some work a retired artist wasn’t able to finish, it was like I met my Brother from another Mother. I can go to him with whatever random manic idea I have and he kills it every time! The new Owners of this shop are so amazing as well and give back to their HB Community. Juan Guzman did a perfect 5 inch cover-up for me on my upper chest. He helped design the tattoo, choose complementary colors and correct placement. Very clean, comfortable atmosphere, friendly and professional. I will definitely be back again.

I found this shop while staying in HB after I was let down by a previous shop. I’ve gotten several pieces done by MrLerc (Juan Guzman) across several years. He always creates a comfortable and safe session and gives me great ideas to strengthen the concepts I bring to him. For my last one, I was able to described my vision and the meaning behind it and he drew something that exactly fit all the parameters. He’s the first artist I recommend especially for first timers. Went to this place on a whim with my two friends while on vacation and they were amazing! Billy was so funny and my tattoo turned out amazing! We came in a little late so they ended up staying past closing but he was so nice about it and didn’t rush us out of there. I will definitely be coming back to this place next time I’m in town! 10/10 definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a tattoo!

I’ve been going to Mechanical Concept for about a year now and have gotten tattoos from both Juan and Billy. This has become my go-to tattoo shop, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to absolutely anyone. The shop is extremely clean and the atmosphere is always very welcoming. If you like to chat during your tattoos, Billy and Juan are lovely to talk to. If you prefer to be mostly quiet during your tattoos like i usually do, they have TVs in the shop and will also not bat an eyelash if you tell them you’re going to wear headphones. No matter what, Juan and Billy have always made me feel comfortable during the whole tattoo experience. The tattoos they produce are absolutely phenomenal.

After a decade of hem-hawing, I finally decided to get a tattoo. I walked in feeling nervous after watching too many episodes of tattoo nightmares, but after a consultation with Brian (whos ear Im sure I talked off about every detail of my indecisiveness) I felt super confident and excited. Theyve got this process down to a T.Mechanical Concepts studio is so clean and is filled with some phenomenal original artwork from the tattoo artists themselves. Brians genuine care, informative responses, and insistence that my preferences are prioritized made me feel comfortable, and most importantly, empowered. Lets not forget what a rad conversationalist he is either, it made time fly and provided lots of food for thought.I LOVE my tattoo so much, and have been contemplating getting more just to hangout in there and rep their artwork. The versatility and knowledge of the artists in there is just amazing. Getting to do something I wanted to do with people who love what theyre doing changes the whole game. Mechanical Concept Tattoo takes getting tattooed to a whole new level. The shop environment is warm and welcoming, along with everyone at the shop. I first came to Brian with an idea of what I wanted and he provided me with a thorough consultation. The design he drew up for me encompassed every detail I wanted and was a thousand times better than what I even envisioned. His artistic vision is amazing and his professionalism made me very comfortable. While on the topic of comfort, the fully adjustable chairs are every clients dream! Every other shop Ive been to tends to make you feel like a contortionist to try to get you in a good position for your artist to work. Each work station Is clean and organized and made me feel confident that my artist is concerned with not just my tattoo but my overall health and safety as well, which is a huge plus for me.I cant tell you how often I get stopped and complimented on my tattoos that Brian has done. His work is absolutely stunning! I drive 100 miles to get to Huntington Beach and have my work done because Brian is the most talented tattoo artist, I would never go anywhere else. Ive already got my next appointment lined up to go back!!

The shop is very clean and sanitary. Everything is drawn by the artists, you will not find clip art here. Brian, Billy and Chaz are not only amazing tattoo artists, they all have a very high level of customer service. They make you feel quite welcome and comfortable. It is clear that they care about their clients satisfaction. Brian is working on my tattoo and the first 3 hour session was so easy, he has a light hand with the tattoo machine. Brian has a vast knowledge about everything tattoo and with his expert advice and fantastic artistry I was able to get started with a gorgeous mandala sleeve that I am quite excited about.

My experience here was great! I scheduled a consultation with Brian after a colleague with amazing, detailed tattoos had recommended me to him. I came to him with an idea I had for a cover-up, to which he didnt sketch anything out beforehand and said he would sketch it out on my forearm the day of the appointment. I was truly nervous about this, but I trusted his work and went with it. The day of, Brian sketches out the tattoo on my arm and went to work. With little direction given by me, he truly captured everything I wanted in my tattoo from the main design all the way down to the dot work and shading. He is pure talent! Not to mention, he is such a gentleman and truly makes you feel comfortable as soon as you step in the door. HIGHLY recommend him!

I have been looking for some time for a new shop and artist to work on the tattoos that I want done. Brian and Mechanical Concept Tattoo was recommended from my buddy whos sister get pretty much all of her ink done from Brian. So I made a consultation with Brian and just from that initial consultation, I knew I found my place. Both Brian and Billy and great guys and both very friendly and professional. The shop is immaculate and has tons of room. Ive been in a couple of shops that would cram 3-4 artists in a 1/3 of the space Mechanical Concept has. My first tattoo by Brian was a small cover up on my wrist. Most tattoo artists would outline and then shade...Brian just started shading and did very little line work. At first I was kind of freaking out because I have never seen it done this way but when he finished I was absolutely perfect and it healed better than any other tattoo Ive had done. And it is one of if not the best tattoo I have to date. Brian really knows tattooing and how to pack in coloring correctly. I cannot wait to get more work done from Brian.

I am so happy that I walked into this shop a year ago for a walk-in. My first of two tattoos here was with Chas. I walked in with a piece a friend of mine had drawn for me. Chas was awesome from the beginning. The placement and size are perfect and I couldnt be happier. His attention to detail in this smaller piece is going to last for sure. The second piece was with Brian. I pitched him my idea of a llama and wheat and he killed it with the drawing. 2 days and 10 hours later, it came out way better than I could imagine. For both sessions Brian was good about cracking jokes and making sure I was comfortable giving the circumstances ( the back of the arm was a weee painful haha).This shop is by far the best one I have walked into in a while. Its clean and comfortable. All of the artist are all fun guys who truly love doing what they do. So look no further and get your appointment now.

Got my first ever tattoo in honor of my mom who recently passed. Billy was kind, patient, answered all my questions and did beautiful work! Definitely would recommend!

Ive been to this place twice this year; once in January and once in March. And both times were absolutely perfect.Its a bit of a drive from where I live and although there are other tattoo shops closer to me, I prefer to make the trek to here.Billy did my tattoo in January and Brian did my tattoo in March. Both artists are amazing and I will definitely go back there again.And years ago at some other place, I got a little tattoo on my inner wrist and it hurt like hell. But when Brian did my tattoo on my inner wrist, I swear it did not hurt at all. I was anticipating for it to be as uncomfortable as my last inner wrist tattoo, but it was not painful at all.Theyve got the magic touch at this place.

Tis place is the cleanest shop ive been in! no dust piles in the corners or built up on anything in there. Its in a perfect beach air location. The artists are always in a great mood! Brian was my artist for my giant thigh piece. He was the best person i could have asked for to do this piece. When i got very anxious about getting it done, or while getting it done, he was very calming snd helpful and said the best funny things for distraction. I tell everyone i know about this place. Highly highly highly suggest experiencing this shop and the creativity of the artists there

This place is really great. I got my first tattoo here and I really enjoyed my experience. The shop definitely has a laid back atmosphere which is nice. Ive been to other shops that were intimidating for a newbie like myself. I watched the movie The A Team for my one hour session, which was pretty much pain free. Brian is a laid back guy who took time to answer my questions and break down the whole tattoo experience for me. He didnt sugar coat things and told me what would and would not work with my idea. It was also inexpensive which was a plus. I recommend this place for anyone looking to get their first tattoo. No pressure, no superiority complexs and no shady practices. Check them out.

Awful experience I would give zero stars...$200 deposit, more than four months and four appointment times given to me to drive to Mechanical Tattoo and still nothing of what we agreed on. During the brief initial consultation Brian shaped a body sticky paper that was fit on my torso to draw my rendition never to be seen again. The only art presented to me has been on an iPad which Brian admitted in an email to copying and tracing my parrot off the internet. Wrong dimensions, wrong size, wrong position, too many flowers, no color and no writing. Brian got my $200 and refuses to listen to my desires or look at any of my photos. Very disappointing when Ive waited till fifty-two and finally decided what means the world to me for my first tattoo. Possibly that I wanted my favorite Bible verse stirred up demons in Brian and could be why he refused to complete my design arguing that he now feels any writing would look like an add on. I told him exactly what I wanted in our consultation mid February, he had no problem then taking my $200 yet now refuses to draw my picture. I wouldnt have gone through this if HE PAID ME $200. His condescending attitude has been awful, a pure waste of time and extremely disappointing. To top it off with his now evasiveness after eight emails between the two of us, looks as though he is choosing to let the judge sort out the issue of the total sham of him keeping my $200 for absolutely nothing but grief. Brian is the only person I dealt with and I believe he is the owner of this shop. Only spoke with someone else on the phone when Brian would email me commands to schedule another appointment in my attempt to try to get his drawing completed with the three elements I requested in our initial consult. This has all been his way of handling business to scam hundreds of dollars out of people and let that be very clear, this is how Brian treats his clients. He stated would be a 12-15-hour project, roughly $2,500. Yet over the past three weeks his hours and price increased as well. Total con job, he offered me two 5-minute meetings and one 1/2 hour, he made it obvious he didnt want to work because his rendition still wasnt complete.

Since moving from the east coast I have visited many shops in search of a qualified artist. I am glad I popped into MCT as Brian at MCT has been a pleasure to work with on both exisiting pieces and new. Coming into the shop and explaining to Brian what I was looking for was easy and he made me feel comfortable to trust his judgment on the shading, coloring and flow of the work. Always great to talk to and MCT will for sure be my go to shop for all future ideas.

Ive been going to Brian for nearly 14 years now. He is an amazing artist, and his shop is great. All of the artists at MCT are cool people, and the shop is very clean and professionally kept. I travel from L.A. to MCT, and I wouldnt have it any other way. I cant say enough positive things about this place.

I love my tattoo I am a 76 year old lady that walked in and asked if they could put my motorcycle club decal on my leg ,they were very honest and said they would give it a try and I love it❤💯

I cant praise these guys enough. Everybody was incredibly nice, but I really should specify Brian since he painted the art under my skin. It is apparent he really knows what hes doing, every dot is perfect, incredible shading, and finished much more quickly than I expected. He was nice throughout the process, made sure I was doing okay and all and all, did an awesome job. Thanks again!

My husband and I did a walk in with Billy. He did an amazing job. And drew up an amazing piece for the both of us. He took a lot of time to draw up exactly what we wanted! Would definitely recommend this shop to anyone.

I went in this afternoon just to look around and check out this new Tattoo shop in the neighborhood. Brian and Billy were super nice and helpful. I even went out on a whim and got a tattoo from Billy. It was exactly what i wanted and more! They are reasonably priced and cool guys. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants a tattoo.

Brian is the only person I trust with my skin. He always does an amazing job and his shop is always spotless. You wont notice the hours pass by with the conversation or the movies playing. Cannot recommend enough!

The absolute, hands down best tattoo studio ever! The hubby and I have been getting tattooed by Billy for almost a decade now and his ink stands the test of time! Highly, highly recommend!

This shop has really good artists and the professionalism is much more than expected. It may not be hey, my cousin tattoos cheap, but its damn worth it every time. Stop reading reviews and get your ass in a Mechanical Concepts chair.
