Bad Hombre Tattoo

Had a great experience at Bad Hombre. Start to finish the process was super simple. I provided the image and MJ worked his magic to make it look as best as possible. The shop was clean and the vibe was very relaxing. Least painful tattoo I ever got! Excited to get more work done.

I am BEYOND thrilled with how my tattoo turned out. MJ was so lovely, made me feel extremely comfortable, and the artwork he created was absolutely beautiful. I was imagining something slightly different in my mind, but what he designed was even better. I will definitely be coming back and recommending him to all my friends in Ithaca (and honestly everywhere). Bad Hombre and MJ are worth the trip :).

There are plenty of great things I could say about this shop, and MJ specifically. Not only is he an incredibly talented artist, his vibe and that of the shop makes you feel safe and at ease. His line work, solid. He played good music too, which at least provided me with something to put all my focus into during the most painful sections of my tattoos. Could not recommend this shop and MJ enough! A great experience every time I go and I’ll definitely be back.

MJ is a phenomenal tattoo artist. Excellent at working with you to make sure the tattoo is exactly what you want. Always makes you feel comfortable during the tattoo process. Will definitely be returning for more tattoos from him!

I’m a bit nervous getting tattooed. MJ made me very comfortable. I get small ones- three so far this year. And I really like them. Exactly what I wanted them to look like. I highly recommend MJ and Bad Hombre.

Had to dispute deposit with credit card company because I was ghosted. He had to cancel our appointment, which was fine. But he never responded to any other texts asking when we would reschedule… I had to dispute charge with credit since he wouldn’t contact me

I got my first larger piece by MJ in september. honestly wasn’t a great experience. he wouldn’t show me the design before i got to the shop and when i wanted to change some details he said it would “take too long”. as if im not getting a permanent tattoo on my body. he made little to no conversation. took like 4 “bathroom breaks” that were 10-15 minutes each and then charged by the hour. also originally told me no more than $350 total, i gave him a $60 deposit so i was expecting to pay $290 at the shop right? wrong. he charged me $340 and said the $60 didn’t subtract from the total amount. it was my 18th bday and i didn’t want to question it bc i only had one previous tattoo, but i’ve since gotten more and looking back it could’ve been a lot better easily. also didn’t provide ANY aftercare information. to be fair i was very happy with the actual tattoo but honestly if you want a decent experience just go somewhere else.

I couldn’t recommend MJ, or his talented work more. MJ makes his clients feel comfortable and welcome, which is rare in todays world. He takes his time with his work, while doing an excellent job. I have a patch work sleeve done by him, and get compliments on it literally everywhere I go. I’ve recommended a lot of people to him, and they’ve all been extremely pleased with his work. Go check him out!

I had an excellent experience at Bad Hombre. Jorge was so nice and drew the perfect design for my tattoo after I asked for a couple changes. He made it a very pleasant experience. I’m in love with how it turned out, it’s so beautiful and detailed! I will definitely be back for another tattoo. Thank you so much!

My husband and best friend came in for simple tattoos while we were in town, we booked 2 days in advance online and MJ got right back to us. He was very accommodating for our quick trip and they came out fantastic. His line work is perfection! Highly recommend, especially for outlined tattoos. He’s also very personable and makes the experience comfortable and easier to handle.

I honestly cannot say enough great things about MJ at Bad Hombre. He was accommodating to our group session, very kind, great conversation, and his tattoo was excellent quality. Our whole session was so much fun. I highly recommend those place and this artist.

The tattoo I received is beautiful. However, the process I underwent to get it was far from professional. I understand cancelling once in awhile, but for three of my friends to have been rescheduled twice, then for me to be rescheduled 3 times, sometimes only an hour before the appointment, is far from acceptable. I was given a 10% discount. (everyone I’ve spoken to who was rescheduled was offered a 50%-100% refund) I was then was rescheduled again and requested a bigger discount due to the inconvenience and the inconsistencies in the discounting amounts which was accepted. I was told I’d be able to get two tattoos done. When I got there, the text for the tattoo was not printed, which took an additional 20 minutes. I’ve never been to a shop that didn’t prepare before the client arrived to maximize time. I only ended up being able to get one done due to this time waste. I was then only granted the 10% discount, which I followed up with in a text to MJ. I requested that money be put towards the tattoo I was told I’d be able to get, or refunded to me in order to take my business elsewhere. That text, as well as two follow up texts, have not been answered in a month. I am happy with the tattoo, but beyond dissatisfied with the treatment I received. Based on the responses to many reviews on here I expect to be attacked and told this was my fault. It takes a lot to get me to write a review and if I can prevent this from happening to others, I will do so.

My daughter and I came in for simple tattoos, our first ones. We chose to come here because we were looking for fine, black line tattoos and MJ was fantastic! They are exactly what we wanted and the experience was just what we had hoped for. Thank you!

Got a tattoo today with my friend and MJ was very nice and professional in person and over the phone. He is very detail oriented and takes his time giving you the best work possible. Would go back again and definitely recommend.

He canceled our session then refused to reschedule and kept my deposit. Took nearly 3 weeks to respond after I had already paid a deposit and he had the audacity to say it was because I didn’t leave a tip after a previous session. The tattoo was small old English letters, very basic but he overcharged me nearly $200. I didn’t have a problem paying because a price was never negotiable beforehand. The work was not bad but left a lot to be desired in terms of quality. The color has already started to fade and will need to be retouched soon. I don’t trust he is using good-quality ink. Given his inexperience, I wanted to see how skilled he was before intrusting him to a bigger piece. Im glad I did because I was utterly disappointed. He was unwilling to provide me with sketches after I asked for them on numerous occasions. I wanted to make sure I liked his drawings but he never made them so I had no choice but to cancel our session. A tattoo stays on your body forever and I didn’t want to risk not liking it. I made my feelings clear to him but he didn’t care. As a tattoo artist, I felt he should have empathized with that but he didn’t. He made it clear to me with his words and his actions he only intended to make the most money possible. On top of that, during our session, he was nearly half an hour late. He rushed, was unprepared, and appeared tired during the session. He is very unprofessional and clearly inexperienced in this line of work. I do not recommend his services. Save yourself the hassle and see someone with more experience, skills, and customer service skills.

I’ve never written a review before but this experience completely exceeded my expectations! Mj created such a safe and calming environment to be worked on. His line art was absolutely breathtaking. It was like he took what I wanted and made it even better. Not to mention how humble the prices were. Mj was so kind and reassuring the whole time. It felt like I was talking to an old friend. Overall badhombre is my new go to for tattoos, he provides a VIP experience for a fraction of the cost.

I was bad hombre’s second tattoo. It’s been a pleasure to see how much his practice has grown and expanded. Always a cool experience in his unique shop, comfortable yet sleek and modern. He engaged with me in interesting conversations and that made the tattoo go by quickly and made the pain feel less intense. Highly recommend.

I am thoroughly disappointed with the treatment I received from MJ. I was looking forward to getting my tattoo and booked with him specifically for his work in fine lines however I have been treated disrespectfully and have yet to be seen. For an appointment I had scheduled on a Friday, MJ asked if I would be able to move it to Sunday instead which was feasible for me, however on Sunday, 4 hours before he cancelled without giving reason asking to reschedule for tomorrow. Come Monday just an hour and a half before my appointment (after I have received a notification asking me to confirm) he cancelled again , offering 50% off for rescheduling many times. I scheduled for Wednesday and again received a text asking for my confirmation of the appointment about 2 hours prior, which I immediately responded to. Upon showing up to my appointment 15 minutes early, I was unable to locate the entrance to the shop. The outside door of 123 S Cayuga, a shop called Nirvana, was locked with a sign taped on the outside of the door saying they were unexpectedly closed today. I texted the Google voice number I had been using to correspond with MJ as well as calling 10 times. I even DMed his personal and business Instagram accounts. I sat outside the door of 123 for an hour and no one responded to my texts nor picked up my phone calls nor came looking for me as one might should they have an expected customer. I have already given my 40 dollar deposit as of Friday and I am hoping MJ will return it to me as I no longer wish to support an unprofessional and nontransparent business. That is if he ever responds to my text messages or Instagram DMs.

Teagan was excellent. I felt at ease there quickly and I dont think Ive ever been that relaxed while getting a tattoo. I am very happy with my wrist tats.
