Cant say enough good things about this tattoo shop!First thing, experienceI emailed in the morning asking if there was anyway for the Heirloom staff to accommodate a very last minute tattoo request and Mae spent and hour emailing me back and forth to organize a time with one of their artist, they were patient and helpful despite the really short time we had and was able to schedule me time with LaceyLacey was absolutely amazing! She was attentive and worked with me on a design within my budget as well as time constraints. She also took the time to explain needle expiration, as someone with plenty of tattoos this was new and provided education I didnt have previouslyI had to take an important phonecall mid appointment and Kacey was incredibly gracious, over all great conversation and bed side mannerFor the work...Im in love!!! Its exactly what I asked for with clean line work and vibrant colorsOver all so excited for itAdditional tidbit for those concerned:This store is LGBTIA+ friendly and do work in their local community supporting marginalized folks. I like to know my money is going back into the community and providing assistance to those in need so it was an added bonus with how this shop operates within its own communityGenerally one of the best experience I have had and I am beyond grateful to Mae and Lacey for working with me!

I got my first tattoo done by Stephany today!! It all went really well and I had no issues whatsoever. I highly recommend this place! Its super clean and chill and I love the decor around the shop! Definitely coming back for my next one some day!

My exiting tattoo was worked on by Lacey for details I wanted added in the fall. I was informed to follow up if needed as it was applying a lot of new ink over years old ink, but it healed smoothly and was perfectly done! I was impressed by the standards of cleanliness and had a positive experience; it took a few hours but felt like minutes, and it turned out exactly as Id hoped. Highly recommend!

Mae did absolutely amazing work on my tattoo. They did so much beautiful shading and they put me at ease while we chatted. The other people working there were lovely as well and I got to witness firsthand how respectful and kind they communicated with one another. I will definitely be scheduling my next tattoo there.

Got a tattoo with Steph and it was a great experience! She had multiple designs to pick from and was quick to make any needed changes. The location is beautiful, surrounded by woods and wildlife. The space is large so Steph had her own room, which I really prefer over open concept studios. I LOVED that I could complete all the paperwork online the day before. I will definitely be back!

Heirloom Arts does a fantastic job! I went here for my first tattoo and am completely blown away. Everyone is so kind, caring, and just overall made it a great experience. The inside felt very clean and was welcoming. My artist was Katie and they were amazing. They made my dream a reality! I will definitely be going back for more tattoos in the future.

I recommend Heirloom for many reasons, they are not only great artists, but they provide a comfortable environment. I have never enjoyed getting a tattoo so much, just listening and talking to the artists who were all very kind and welcoming. Not only do they provide a safe place for someone coming to get a tattoo, they are willing to work with you on concerns or issues you may have. Tempest is an amazing owner and helped me through a cover up that turned out better than I could’ve imagined. Was very pleased to work with them and very content with the results.

I don’t even know where to start with how much I loved my experience. The shop was so cute and so nice to be at. Mae was so awesome, they did such a great job on my tattoo and I love it so much! Every artist at the shop was so nice. This is one of the best shops I’ve been! I highly recommend coming here for your next tattoo!

My wife went to get a tattoo and I loved the place and our artists (Katies) work so much that I got a tattoo the same day. Super clean and everyone was very personable. Couldnt be more happy with the whole experience.

Sarah is fantastic. She worked with me via email on design and was well prepared. I was the first appointment of day, as requested. We were both masked. Things were clean and easy, and I felt respected and safe. I love my Spiral Goddess tattoo!

Amazing atmosphere that is not intimidating like many tattoo places can be. Very skilled artists here that take care to get you exactly what you want at a very reasonable price as well.Everything is very clean, professional and comfortable. I will be going back here for more in the near future and recommend everyone else stop by here as well, this would be an awesome place if you are nervous getting tattoos or haven’t had one yet!-EDIT 1 year a set of piercings and two tattoos from this shop later:Still have always had nothing but the kindest interactions here. Each artist I’ve worked with is very good at communicating to make sure you are satisfied. The most recent work I had done here was by an apprentice and it turned out exactly as I requested. I feel bad for updating this post so late after the work I’ve received. But figure better is late than never!

Had an amazing experience at Heirloom Arts in November 2020. Mae helped me arrange the appointment and answered all of my pre-appointment questions in a timely and friendly manner; Tempest was so kind and professional, making sure I was comfortable throughout the appointment. The shop is clean and cozy and everyone is super chill-- its a great environment for someone who has a lot of anxiety like I do. And the tattoo turned out amazing! Vibrant colors, flawless shading, and crisp linework. I cant recommend Heirloom Arts highly enough.

I just had 2 appointments at Heirloom Arts and Im absolutely in love with both pieces. Lacey and Marlowe were so sweet and did such good work. I cant wait to get more work from them and from the other artists at the shop.

5/5. Very professional artist, kind and talented. The artist I had has amazing detail skills. The shop has a great vibe to it. Ive been to a number of shops in kalamazoo (not all, quite a few) and this one is by far my favorite!

Nearly all of my tattoos have been done by Tempest, and I can’t recommend them enough. Heirloom Arts is a comfortable environment where you will be able to get beautiful work done, and feel safe and listened to the entire time. I can’t recommend this shop or the staff more highly!

I just got an olive branch on my forearm a week ago I love it! It turned out beautiful Tempest took my thoughts and made something that made sense and looks great. Tempest, was super accommodating and made my experience top notch. All the other ladies at the shop are so helpful. Mae, the scheduler and email contact is so nice. Give this place a shot!

Seriously the best tattooing experience Ive ever had. Ive had probably half a dozen artists do dozens of pieces over the years and the one I got from Tempest is still the best and by far my favorite. Theyre the real deal. Anyone within 12 hours of Kzoo needs to check them out asap

Heirloom Arts is one of the best kept secrets in Kalamazoo. This studio focuses on embracing diversity among their staff and exhibits and exceptional level of professionalism. So far Ive had one tattoo touched up and one new piece done there (pictured). The artists are very talented with attention to detail and are confident in their work. Im looking forward to returning to get more pieces done!

I got my first tattoo here. Tempest copied my handwriting perectly. They were incredibly kind, helpful, and reassuring throughout the whole process. The procedure was timely and the tattoo healed well after following Tempests care instructions. When Im ready for my next few, Im gonna make the trip all the way back to kalamazoo!

Hi there! I accompanied my roommate to her tattoo and watched her sob for hours after the appointment. Today we got a quote for a touch up from another shop and that artist listed a myriad of things that she could tell we’re done wrong technically, and how she could visibly see scarring due to the immense pressure. I just felt I was responsible to inform people of this before they decide to get tattooed here. I’m sure good work has been done at this shop but this tattoo was okayed and sent out the door by a seasoned artist and that is not okay.

Tempest was amazing. They took a previous piece and formed a masterpiece in their mind. I cant wait to see it finished. They kept an eye on my sensitive skin and didnt push it so I wouldnt be uncomfortable later. Seriously amazing experience and atmosphere. Will go there for years to come.

The artists here are so welcoming and kind, taking their time to consult with clients and make them feel comfortable. Tempest has done two of my favorite tattoos and I look forward to the next time I can get my skin stabbed

Katie got the Gump-ness and the wide-eyed-chaos-eyes of my cats amazingly well. The yeehaw goose is just *French kiss* perfection. Will 100% be coming back, I love the mild to moderate (semi) organized chaos

Tattoo turned out awful, splotchy, lines not straight, took 4 hours for a tattoo that shouldnt have taken very long, shading went outside of the lines. Leaned on the fresh tattoo multiple times and barely cleaned it off at the very end, had to go home and clean it off more. Used painters tape to hold on the wrap which immediately fell off. Do your research before going there and dont make my mistake and having to go somewhere else to get it touched up.

Tempest, Sarah, and Erica are all highly professional artists and create beautiful work. They do everything they can to make sure youre comfortable, and maintain a clean and cozy environment.

Tattoo came out horribly. I asked for something simple and instead was rewarded with a very sloppy design. Lines were jagged, there were tons of splotches everywhere, and to top that off it took 5 hours. After seeing the reviews I would expect this place to be up to par with expectations, but sadly it isnt. Dont waste your time here.

Stephany did an amazing job. It was pain free, clean lines and great conversation. It was worth the drive and I will be back. Thank you!
