Cherrie did my piece! The vibe she brings and the atmosphere she provides are very comfortable. The shop is very clean, smells nice, and interior design is beautiful! Parking was stressful because I couldnt find it at first, but there is a garage around the corner that is very cheap with no time limit. The price was amazing (she is still an apprentice) but the work she does is so beautiful i felt like I robbed her with the cost even with the tip! She can have all of my money. :)

I took my daughter and niece to get their ears pierced. The staff was amazing with them very understanding and very kind. The guy that did their piercing (totally forgot to get his name) was very patient with them expecially because it was their first piercing and both under the age of 10. They made it an amazing experience for them. Definitely recommend and we will be back.

I had a great experience, the staff was very friendly and Rob who pierced my nose was very courteous and professional. Answered all of my questions and the piercing was quick and painless. Would highly recommend this place to get a piercing.

My friend and I got lobe piercings and Aaron was very good! He talked us through the piercings and they both healed very well. Very friendly and personable staff, if I decide to get more I will definitely be coming back here!

I’m 55 and have considered getting a tattoo of a snowflake for about 30 years. It would be my first and possibly only tattoo. I finally walked into Defiance in Kent and was helped by Christine. She was so patient and wonderful and I LOVE the beautiful snowflake she tattooed on my arm!!

I got two piercings today by Rob, he was amazing and so sweet! He made sure I was comfortable the whole time, he took extra time on making sure my nose piercing was right and comfortable. I have had several piercings and tattoos done at Defiance. They pretty much know me by name at this point. I have never had one bad experience. They are super friendly and professional. They walk you through the whole process. They run a tight ship. Everything is neat and tidy. Dont let any negative reviews steer you wrong.

Met two of the nicest young men at Defiance Tattoos, the owners. Aaron was my piercer, he also does Tattoos, he went out of his way making me feel comfortable about my piercing, trusted him completely, outstanding personality.The other owner I cant remember his name but he was also very professional and accommodating, he claims to be all business which is outstanding, but I met a very sweet and sincere individual ❤️. This is the best shop Ive ever been to. The staff is full of personality with incredible artistic abilities. The tattoos come out professionally done with an aftercare sheet and a way to contact the shop. The tattoos are done safely and in a clean environment. Ive gotten 12 of my 13 tattoos done by Christine and Rachel. My partner has gotten 3 piercings by Rob and 11 tattoos. If youre looking for some awesome art, this is the place. Defiance has us for life.

This is hands down the best shop I have ever been to. The artists are friendly and so talented. I always look forward to coming into the store. They have get what you get tattoos in 3 different sizes with color included, which is amazing when you want a tattoo but don’t know what you want. They have great prices for great work! They also have flash sales and food drive deals where they give back to the community. Great work and great people.

I have gotten 3 tattoos and 3 piercings from here, daith, conch, and helix. The piercers here in my opinion are pretty good. My piercings healed well and I never had any issues. The tattoos are good depending on who you go to. Christine is the best. David does a good job but pressed very hard and I bruised after his tattoo.

Me and my sister have gone here multiple times to get pierced and everytime they do an amazing job! i have gotten my ears and i recently got my helix pierced. my ears are fully healed with no issues and my helix is doing amazing and doesnt hurt at all. my sister also got her helix pierced here and its completely healed. she also got her belly button pieced and it is also healing very well. the staff is very nice and make the process very easy! this is my favorite piercing place ever!!

Ill update this review after the healing (hopefully i remember), but the piercing itself was a great experience! I got my septum done today (08/03/22) and it was easy and quick. However, it was my first piercing in a while so it absolutely was painful to me, but thats to be expected. Kind staff and relatively inexpensive (after piercing, metal, aftercare products, and tip it was ~$75). Definitely recommend.(05/13/23) finally updating! Healing was great, but I had to get it taken out due to no fault of the piercing place (i had emergency surgery :/ ). It was a great experience. Will def be going again!

This place sucks. Charged me 150 for a tattoo that took 20 minutes, the guy was rude and couldn’t even do straight lines to make a rectangle after scoffing at me asking if he could do it. The place is incredibly shady and everyone I know has had a bad experience here. The guy blasted grunge music the whole time, and while I understand its “his shop” it was still incredibly unpleasant and didnt care at all as to whether I was comfortable or not. Please go anywhere else for a tattoo. Terrible vibes and arrogant people who can’t give you a decent tattoo. Their catalog speaks for itself, should have taken a close look before walking in. Live & learn.

I’ve had three line work tattoos by Christine and they are all absolutely fantastic. They healed beautifully. I even came in once with a really rough rendition of what I wanted that I drew and she took my picture on the spot and created a stencil of almost exactly what I’d drawn but BETTER. Each one is exactly what I wanted. She’s so kind and I’d highly highly recommend her to anybody.I’ve also gotten my septum pierced here and that was really great as well!! My piercer was super kind and he took a lot of time to make sure it was perfect for me.

Got my third lobe piercings, tongue, snake bites, and nostril done here and ive come to get my jewelry changed as well. always quick service, ive come in when its been busy and ive always left in a decent time. piercings are quick, the piercers are very patient and kind. highly recommend aaron if you want a piercing! piercings are very affordable and well done too. i plan on getting my other nostril pierced here as well. never had an issue healing a piercing from here either

Got a couple piercings today, think the piercer was Aaron based off the aftercare slip. He was great and it was over in no time. Had a great time and will definitely be going back for my next set of piercings.

Got my dual eyebrow piercings from here a couple days ago!! piercings were very quick and gentle (as someone can be while shoving a needle through you!) they are very even, healing perfectly and i love them!! receptionist and piercers are always very nice and kind

If i come back ill make sure to have an apt with Christine. She’s amazing. However, did a walk in with my friend the other day and had another tattoo artist. Was both charged $150 for a tattoo that took less then a half hour. I asked for dainty fine lines and walked out with thick lines and the tattoo is super dark.

The pricing here makes absolutely zero sense. I’ve been here once and got a butterfly with color and shading and detailed lines and paid under $100. Tried to go again with a friend, I wanted a butterfly the size of a quarter with no color or shading and they quoted the tattoo over $150. My friend ended up getting a hand piece that was very intricate and covered her whole hand, she was charged about $160. If you want a good tattoo at the right price, go somewhere else.

Wouldn’t come here for piercings. I got my nipples done here years ago. Well one of my nipple rings have been rejecting for years now. I had no idea why when I took care of them always. It was so bad that you can see the bar through my nipple and a literal HOLE FORMED in my nipple. I recently got both of my rings fixed at a different shop and they were sick how they did my nipples. They had the wrong gauge in my nipple and the wrong bar. The bar was way too small and the bar was rounded when they are supposed to be straight for nipples. One wrong tug and my nipple ring would have ripped through my nipple.

Women nipples are supposed to have a straight 14 g and they did a rounded 16 g. Five years later and they’re still causing issues due to the internal scar tissue. I had to get them fixed which hurt but have been experiencing less issues since then. Just don’t go here for piercings.

This place is awesome. Was traveling but was in town long enough to have some work done. Hands down, this place is the best. Aaron got me on as a walk-in with David, a true artist! I was so happy with his work that I had to get two done. The merchandise was a little short on my size Medium, but i was able to find a couple t-shirts that fit well.

I came here twice this week to get tattoos done. The first was a walk-in and I was welcomed and everyone was extremely nice and helpful. My artist Cory was super personable and he was both quick and accurate. His linework was amazing. I felt like I copped out by using my own idea so I made an appointment to get work that he made himself done because I love to let artists be creative and make what they love. He is extremely talented and super easy to work with. Highly highly recommend Cory!

Due to a lack of knowledge about other tattoo/piercing shops in the area myself and my friends/family have visited defiance several times. Upon first glance nothing seemed off. There tends to be a lack, and sometimes even complete dismissal of aftercare instructions. My sister got her ear lobes pierced here and the placements were uneven. I came in for a navel piercing and apparently someone had put the wrong sided needle in the drawer, resulting in me having to be pierced twice since my piercer did not notice this mistake before he pierced me. He genuinely seemed sorry so I wasn’t too mad at the time. 2 years later my piercing has not healed right. Unfortunately I gave this place one more shot and came here for my most recent piercing and it was also done crookedly. My friend had come here for a very simple line work tattoo and her straight lines were extremely bumpy. With war horse ink right down the road, please just avoid this place. The tattoos there are much higher quality and the staff is way more professional. Defiance staff has been combative on their social media platforms for quite some time.

My piercings healed very well, and going through it was very quick and easy! My experience with my tattoo however was much different. My tattooist made me wait in the lobby almost over an hour after when my appt was scheduled due to another client taking too long. He also proceeded to have a smoke break when that client left before taking me in and setting me up. The only reason I rated this more than 2 stars is because I am happy with my piercings and my tattoo ended up beautifully, but the service there was truly very poor.

I had Mike today for my piercing, he was so nice and friendly. My piercing wasn’t painful at all...and usually everything hurts me! I will totally come back here and recommend to my friends. My sisters have also come here and feel the same way. The staff knows what they’re doing! The entire process took about 5 minutes and was very clean and sanitary. I was nervous going into this, concerning most of my friends double piercings are NOT symmetrical, but I could not have been happier with how mine turned out! As for pricing, the best out there.. $35 for my double piercing which is the best I’ve seen. Thank you, amazing experience!

Cant believe I havent left a review yet 😅 my wife has been going since I believe around 2010 and suggested we go for a special back in 2019 and I absolutely love the atmosphere, everyone is super chill and great just chitchatting with, Christine has been our artist and shes absolutely a amazing, shes so quick too, everyone seems to mention how shes so fast but still does such amazing work, if youve seen any you know it speaks for itself. Rob the piercer is awesome too, super knowledgeable and patient, hes quick as well, they both definitely work to minimize any pain while still providing top notch service. I swore Id never a piercing until Rob now Ive had a handful and will likely get more.

I was suspicious of this place since I had a friend get a tattoo here that came out a bit wonky. Either way- My own experience was much better with a piercing. I got my cartilage pierced and the guy was professional and friendly. They were very busy but they made time to get everyone in. I can appreciate that! My ear has been healing nicely and I love how it turned out.

I have gotten several tattoos done here and have been more than satisfied when I leave. Ryan has done all of the work I have gotten done at Defiance and I have been a loyal customer of his work for almost 7 years. He has done 7 tattoos for me, the last one less than a week ago and I’m more than pleased with them. He is very friendly and super nice to talk to which makes for a better experience while being tattooed. My husband is going to him in a couple of weeks for an awesome back piece and I can’t wait to see the finished product! I would recommend Ryan to anyone! I also have a friend who sports a lot of Larry’s work and I will say his work is fantastic too!

Ive had two tattoos done here from two different artists and absolutely love the artwork. Even after 3+ years both tattoos still look great! I also had my belly button pierced here, which I loved! Unfortunately it got caught and infected so I had to take it out, but I will be returning within the next month or so to get my nose pierced! Super friendly staff and very patient. They were so great about tweaking the art on my bow until it was perfect and I get so many compliments on it! Cant wait to get my nose done!Update: I had my nose pierced at Defiance about 6 months ago. Its perfect, is healing up nice and I barely felt the needle going through. Im returning in the next couple of weeks for my 3rd tattoo from Defiance!

Ive gotten 12 tattoos and at least six piercings at this shop by my count, and excluding one time which was really nobodys fault, Ive had nothing but great experiences here. The majority of my tattoos have been done by Christine, but Ive gotten a couple small ones done by Mike and David, and all of my piercings were done by Rob. Ive been consistently satisfied by the work Ive gotten here, which is why I came in for a walk-in just the other day, and I already have another appointment set up for this Saturday. Highly recommend.

Got my double helix done here for a great price, staff was professional and utensils were clean. It was my first cartilage piercing and they made me feel comfortable and at ease. Very happy with my piercing and will be returning when I get another someday.

Been to defiance a few times. Staff is super friendly, their piercer usually does great. However, I did experience some issues. I was overcharged for a wrist tattoo i got done, it was small and really simple and after a few months it’s looking really patchy despite following the aftercare instructions and taking care of it the same way I did my other four. Piercing wise, the piercers are both great, I loved working with them, but for a lip piercing set I got they way undersized it to the point of which it was constantly sinking into my skin and causing a ton of swelling and pain. Was a few days before i could get in again, and when i got it changed it was still too small. I had to get it changed 3 times before a bar long enough for it to heal was put in, and i paid $20 for the jewelry change each time. It kind of sucked. I don’t go here anymore because of that.

My artist was friendly but passive aggressive to me and my friend. he was correcting a tattoo i had done awhile ago, about 3 inches in total (a set of cherries, no color.) my friend got a tat around 4 inches in diameter. we got to the counter and we’re each charged 164$, for tattoos that took 40 minutes each, and mine was smaller than hers. save your money and go somewhere else. they are probably very selective on who they charge a certain amount to. overall very shady business and not super cool or friendly staff. bad vibes :/

I went here two years ago to get my septum pierced. It was superrr painful and I wasn’t quite sure what the piercing should look like and where it should be placed , but the piercer offered to “try again a few more times”. I said no since it hurt so bad. The piercer basically told me to not tell anyone where I had gotten my septum pierced at, because it was so bad .I was charged wayyy below the price because of how bad it was. I had to take it out because the pain was so bad. It has been two years ago and my nose still hurts when it is touched and the hole has not gone away completely because of the high up placement in my cartilage.

I got my very first tattoo here. It was a wonderful experience. I was tattooed by Christine and she had the most amazing vibe. Talked me through everything because I was so nervous. I will be goi my back!

Husband and I went and got tattoos and really happy with the job they did. Super nice and great work, and prices are reasonable. Even took daughter to get ear piercing there cause I knew I could trust their work. Its clean and the artists are amazing and patient. Thanks so much!

Rob did a fantastic job on my helix today. I almost fainted after it was done and he was on top of it and helped me recover from it. The piercing was done amazingly and I cant recommend them enough. Ill definitely be back for more piercings from Defiance! Everyone is so friendly there!

Got a tattoo few days ago and they accepted walk-ins so I got it and it didn’t take long until it was my turn. The one who did my tattoo was named Christina if I remembered and she did it super fast. I LOVED how it turned out and she did it exactly how I wanted it to be. Staff was friendly and welcoming. I’ll definitely go there again for future tattoos and maybe piercings!

My friend and I walked in for a nostril and industrial piercing, we were worried as weve never been here but the guy did amazing explaining how both heal and were about 4 weeks post now and both are healing amazing with no issues! Mine(nostril) was never even swore. Amazing

My wife and I went here after I got off work last night to each get a piercing. Mike did an outstanding job! He took his time and it was encouraging because he was a perfectionist! We would recommend him to anyone and will be back for more piercings and ink!

I had my nose pierced today with a friend. Both of us had Rob, and he was incredible! He was clean, explained everything he was doing and how to care for the piercing, and everything was extremely quick. Each piercing took around 2 minutes from placement to actual procedure. Really loved the experience and the price!

I love love love coming here! Cory Allen kills every tattoo he does in the best way! Ive been coming since his apprenticeship and he does nothing but get better while also being a good DJ with good conversation. Defiance is lucky to have him, and Im lucky to have my fave tattooist :)

Beautiful work 3 yrs in no fading. They worked within my med. Issues and retouchs were needed due to scabbing on my end they were easy no problems on their end to retouch after healing.

The staff was incredibly chill and patient with me today as I got my first tattoo ever! Christine was very nice and did a better job than I could have hoped for on these tiny lines. I highly recommend booking an appointment with them, I know Ill be going back in the future!

Ive had two tattoos done now, both by defiance. Love my pieces, theyve turned out very nice. Minimal pain on both and they made each experience a comfortable one. Ive also had my nose re-pierced by them and it healed fast and nicely. Will definitely keep returning for more future work!

Went to Defiance 3 years ago for a cartilage piercing and they were very helpful and I enjoyed my time there. About a week ago, I went and got my navel piercing. Again, everyone was very helpful and the process was quick and simple. I plan on coming here again.

Im not one to make reviews and post publicly about places but I was here for their Friday the 13 flash and I got my septum pierced and it was pierced so poorly I had to take it out 2 days later because it was so swollen. I went to a piercing shop in the area and they told me they pierced so high up into my cartilage it would take months to heal properly . I wouldn’t recommend getting piercings here and I’m the most laid back person when it comes to piercings and whatnot. I also got a tattoo and he missed a whole little line like how do u do that🥴 Do better! So much potential as a business.

I went in to get my septum pierced and had such a good experience. They have great prices and are super quick but also helpful.My nose wouldnt stop bleeding when I got it pierced ( i bleed a lot with all piercings and tattoos not sure why ) and the piercer sat there until it slowed down and also did a fantastic job with the actual piercing. I will definitely be back 💕

Have been a client of this shop for several years and have always been happy with art and artists that have worked on me. They are the best IMHO. Caring, talented and reasonable.

The first time I ever went to defiance was to get a nose piercing and rob was fantastic! Sadly I had to take it out for work but I got it done again by rob and it didn’t even hurt. I ended up getting an infection due to my poor lack of aftercare ( totally my fault!!) I then went in to defiance to get 4 more ear piercings and I always go to rob, I got my Naval Pierced at a different shop and it didn’t heal properly and he gave me good advice on what to do and the last time I came in he put my septum jewelry back in for a very low price. Rob is the only one I trust to do my piercings anymore. Will definitely have to get a tattoo here !

Very clean, very quick, great price! Happy with my first tattoo experience! My daughter and I got tattoos ( her first also) that had a special meaning and my son will go get his soon to match! Christine was great , easy to talk to!

I just got a tattoo today from these guys and I am incredibly happy. This isn’t my first tattoo shop but it will be my last, I plan on coming back for any future tattoos. I was tattooed by Christine she was very nice. She talked to me while she was doing the tattoo which calmed me down. The shop was clean and well lit. I was a walk in and I was done in 45 minutes. Everything was done incredibly well and I’m so glad I found these guys. :)

Went in today to get my septum pierced. I was a little worried it might not look good because I have a slight deviation in my septum, but Rob did an amazing job with marking and piercing it. He was also super kind and explained everything to me. It was done quickly and it looks amazing. Thank you!!

First the tattoo only took about 35 min and it was $135 I wouldn’t have minded if it was done well. the letter are all different thickness you can see where lines are blown out and shaky you can tell he was putting the needle in too deep. If you can’t do simple writing that is straight the line has the same thickness throughout the whole tattoo and all the letter there is something wrong. Go somewhere else and get your moneys worth

Came here to get a triple helix piercing, only waited about 5 minutes after turning in my waiver for my piercing. This was my first piercing and the guy who did the piercing did a really good job and was really nice. Gave me a little pamphlet with some tips to take care of the piercings. If i need any other piercings done ill be sure to come here again.

I have always been happy with the quality of the work, and at least 2 (if not 3, I dont remember) of my tattoos were done by Ryan. I even had my nose pierced twice. I absolutely will be back to get more tattoos.

They were very nice and welcoming. I was a little nervous going in there cause Ive had bad service before, not there but in other shops, and they made me feel much more relaxed. I could definently tell they took their job seriously too! They didnt skip any steps while getting set up to do my piercing.

I got my bellybutton done here back in April usually it takes anywhere from 6-12 months to heal, they did my piercing to shallow which caused it to constantly get caught on things and made it to where today I had to take it out completely because I had a small piece of skin holding on. I’m highly disappointed and would not recommend anyone to get a piercing here at all

I got my cartridge pierced here and the staff did a great job. I was immediately taken back, and Aaron talked me through the whole process. I will absolutely come back here for my future piercings.

Ive gotten my daith, labret, and septum pierced here. The service was great, piercer was clear and to the point. I enjoyed all my piercings and the experience- the only problem is the piercing jewelry quality. They pierce with surgical steel, which can contain metals like nickel. For all three piercings I went to a second studio and switched out the jewelry for titanium- any scarring or irritation around the piercings cleared up within a week. Over a year post-appointment my daith still hadnt healed (despite routine aftercare) until I swapped it out for some better jewelry. The same goes for scar tissue building up around my labret. This can just be the sensitivity of my skin, so Im not mad by any means! My time spent inside Defiance itself has been lovely! But if youve noticed any sensitivity to metal, or resistance to healing afterward, try making a jewelry swap.

Christine worked with my needs on walk-in tattoo day, Wednesdays.. all employees present were professional and personable. I was a little miffed that I stated my payment limit and they agreed, then the total was higher with tax.... But the work came out great.

Christine has done two massive pieces for me and I plan to get many more from her! Shes great at making you feel comfortable and shes always down for a good laugh! Hands down the best artist Ive ever been too and I highly recommend her.

Got both tragus done here. I was very very nervous but he (forget his name, haha) was so calm and did it very quickly and professionally. Im definitely going to come back.EDIT: Got my helix done here later, and Im rating 2 stars.I understand infections happen, but I got some bad advice from staff. I walked in with heavy inflammation and wanted to be directed on the best course of action on my piercing. The piercing felt tight and very painful. Again, I understand piercings sometimes just get infected, but my concerns were completely brushed off by a staff member. I was told to soak it and that was that. I should have had the jewelry removed, but trusted your staffs judgement. Things got worse and I had to go back to get my embedded and highly infected piercing removed while in agonizing pain and screaming, then following an urgent care visit. In this situation is was not the piercers fault, in fact he was great. It was the other employees. This ordeal could have been avoided if my concerns had been heard.Edit 2:When coming in, I stated that my earring felt incredibly tight and asked for a new one to be placed. It was not just red, but swollen.

I absolutely love it here. I have had 2 of my most recents tattoo’s done by Christina, one was a small one and one is a bigger one on my ribs, and with both she took her time and they both look incredible. I won’t go anywhere else for my tatttoo’s now. Staff is also very friendly, and the shop is very nice, open, and welcoming. Highly recommend!

I had an awesome experience. I walked in to get my nose pierced. They checked my ID filled out some paperwork and then off we went. Rob was super nice and did a excellent job. Sanitary, quick and only a little painful :)

The shop was cool, the people were nice. Got my rook pierced. Rob did a great job and it took all of 10 seconds to clean and pierce it!! Plus its decently priced for good work.

Got my septum pierced here and it didn’t heal after a month and I was told by another piercer that it had been placed improperly through my cartilage. Lots of pain. The dude was pretty nice, but i would never come back for another piercing.

Had my first tattoo done by Steve about two weeks ago. He is very professional, calm, and knowledgeable. Have already recommended him to a few people! My tattoo healed beautifully, it was everything that I wanted and more.

The interior is very open so you can see and hear all the activity happening around you. They had a DVD of the Amityville horror showing in repeat in the lobby which was entertaining and fit the motiff. The piercing was quick and painless, we were in and out in about 10 minutes. The prices are already cheap, but we were still offered a discount if we got multiple piercings. Overall a great place with great prices, great vibes, and great artists.

My friend and I did a walk-in yesterday for our belly buttons and she also wanted a tattoo. Rob did our belly buttons and Mike did her tattoo. Rob was super kind, outgoing, and pierced our stomachs quick and easy. Mike did a wonderful job on her tattoo. Will definitely return for more.

Went spontaneously to get my tragus pierced and had a fantastic experience! No pain, great price, and great customer service. Cant wait to go back and get my next tattoo from them. Never been tattooed there but looking forward to it. Ill post about that experience soon

Im bummed out with the direction this business has taken. I had my bellybutton pierced here and my first tattoo and second tattoos done at Defiance. I always had high confidence in them and recommended them to friends and family. My first two experiences were good but my last was just okay. Last year, my husband booked an appointment to have tattoos done for him, his brother and his mother. We all showed up, everyone from out-of-town having made time to go to Defiance and spend a good amount of money based on my recommendation to go there, and they told us they didnt have an appointment for us. Pretty frustrating considering everyone had driven 30-60 minutes to get there. My husband rescheduled and we went back a month later. It still took a very long time for them to accommodate us (despite the fact that we had booked the appointments), and unfortunately, the writing on my mother-in-laws tattoo turned out very shaky and sloppy-looking. I got my second tattoo done that day and it turned out well but I did feel like the artist was rushing to get it done. Despite all of this, I went in recently to get a small tattoo on my wrist, thinking that they should be able to handle that. I called ahead for an appointment and I was told they were only taking walk-ins. I arrive a little after noon and Im told to sit while they speak to another walk-in. Sure, no problem. During that time, two more people arrive and it becomes clear that one of the artists overbooked and had to reschedule someone who had made an appointment for 12:30pm. That felt sketchy and familiar after our experience last year. I sat a few more minutes but no one ever acknowledged me or called me up so I stepped back up to the desk and was told that all of the artists are booked with 12:30pm appointments. I asked if they knew how long it might be until they could take walk-ins and I was told that they had no idea. I left and decided that I wasnt going back to Defiance again. The poor management and bad customer service inspire no confidence at all, and the risk of getting an artist who will charge you for sub-quality work just isnt worth it. I gave two stars since my first two experiences were good but I just cant recommend this place anymore.Edited to include a response to Defiance Tattoos reply: Its not an issue that I was not seen right away. I knew I was coming in as a walk-in and at the mercy of the artists schedules. The issue is that I was informed that it was walk-ins only and I was explicitly told over the phone that I could get in quickly if I arrived right away (since Defiance had just opened), when in fact, all of the artists had appointments. Thats misleading to customers and I feel it could easily have been avoided had I been told the artists were booked. Artists being booked is understandable but inaccurate information is frustrating. Last year, my husband had appointments booked for his familys tattoos. He was not told they were taking walk-ins; he exchanged emails setting up the appointment and sharing what tattoos were to be done. Im not sure what the miscommunication was but regardless, it reflected poorly on the business to have missed a large appointment agreed upon in advance. I dont want to hurt your business and I know the artists can do great work. Its just a shame that the good work can be overshadowed by customer service and management issues. I appreciate the response but I feel you should acknowledge the feedback you receive from your customers so that you can improve your business practices. Thank you.

Great place, haven’t gotten any tattoo work done yet but I got my industrial and septum done and they are definitely on point! Definitely recommendable!

I went to Defiance when I turned 18 to get my septum pierced. My piercer was struggling with the clamp and it was extremely painful but I stuck through and got the piercing. Months later I went to a shop out of town with a friend for a new piercing and that piercer looked at my septum and said I was lucky it didnt look worse after the way I described the piercing process. Months later, my dumb-self decided to go back to Defiance with my sister to get my navel pierced twice, one piercing on top and one on the bottom. The bottom piercing hurt so incredibly bad, worse than any of my 9 other piercings and it was not healing at all. I went to a different shop for a second opinion and they said it was pierced incorrectly and that the jewelry was cheep, causing my body to fight a reaction with the jewelry instead of healing. They checked out my top navel piercing as well and asked me where I got it done. When I told them Defiance, they were not surprised as they see many navel piercings from defiance that are pierced wrong and therefore they cannot heal correctly. Now, six months later, my top piercing is migrating and it sits above my navel, not tucked into it, and it is rejecting. The piercing itself is only MILIMETERS thick. I imagine after receiving a second opinion, I will have to remove the piercing and wait years for it to heal over and get repierced. I do not recommend defiance.

I used to go to defiance for most of my piercings, I’ve had I think like 5 done here over the years. I’ve also had two tattoos done here. All of my piercings were fine until my last one, double nose piercing (I already had a single nose piercing that was healed and done there) so obviously I trusted them to do the second one. Well after the piercer struggled to get the jewelry in for well over 7 mins (the needle was just chilling in my nose as he’s trying to jam a hoop in) my fresh piercing is bleeding like crazy and already swelling. Usually after the needle goes in the jewelry quickly follows and it’s not that painful, but I guess the piercer was struggling this day which resulted in scarring and an awful healing timeline. I’ve had great piercing experiences up until this point so maybe it was just bad luck. As for the tattoos, I’m not sure if this was also bad luck and timing but my first one needs to be covered up as it honestly is not acceptable to even pretend like it’s meant to look like that. The lines aren’t clean and it’s not even symmetrical (it’s a ying yang so it’s supposed to be). I’ve seen amazing work come from here but I think unless you have some incredible design that’ll showcase their talent they want to just stick some ink in you and move you along because you aren’t helping their portfolio.

I have gotten most of my piercings done here and the easy ones ( like your cartilage or regular earrings ) I would suggest this place, however, I will be having to pay for my daith to be redone AGAIN ( 3rd time ) because they cannot do it apparently. I got it done once and it was fine but I had to take it out for a medical procedure and when I came back to get help put it in, my ear was too swollen to get it back in so they said to come back and get it redone ( this was not their fault and rob did this piercing it was good ) the second time I went my ear was fine, they had a trainee do it and he wouldn’t push the needle through fast enough, it hurt so bad, I bled everywhere which is not common for me, he didn’t even get my earring all the way through so I went through all of that for nothing. He also put the earring in backwards ( there are gems on it - you can’t even see them now because they’re facing my ear ) and so now I’ll have to go to see someone to fix it - again. The only thing making me consider going back here is that it would be free for them to fix it where I’d most likely have to pay somewhere else.

Went in with a friend to get a tattoo. About 2 oclock on a Wednesday, the lady off the bat said they cant do a walk in tattoo unless it was around a 2-3 in square. I explained what we were looking for she said she could do my friends for sure but couldnt do mine. So she did my friends in less than an hour. Nice work, but very simple tattoo. She wanted to reschedule for 2 weeks to get mine done. They were open til midnight and didnt see any name on the appt book. Really what kind of shop doesnt want to make money?!? Wont go back.

I took my 3 1/2 year old to Defiance today to get her ears pierced. Mike did such a fantastic job! He made sure everything was lined up just right and was so good with her. I am confident I made the best choice in how and where to get this done.

I did not have a very good experience with the artist Mike. I went in for matching tattoos with my cousin but we each went to a different artist. We both got lettering done and hers looks beautiful and smooth, exactly like the drawing we were shown, while mine looks rushed and sloppy. I would not recommend Mike as he rushed through the whole process. A couple of the words have no spacing in between, the cursive lines are shaky and uneven, and there are lines that should not be there. It looks like he didnt even follow the stencil he placed. On top of that, this was my first tattoo and while telling me the care instructions he spoke extremely fast and to himself, didnt make sure I could hear or understand anything he was saying. I should not have paid so much for a sloppy tattoo and I will never be coming back to Defiance Tattoos.

I got my nipples pierced and my husband got his tongue pierced. Mike made sure he washed his hands and put on gloves before piercing my husband and also washed his hands after doing husbands piercing and changed his gloves before doing my piercings. We saw him open new needles and made sure every surface was cleaned. He also made the experience great and reduced our anxiety by being friendly and very sweet and professional. We will be going back for jewelry change. Neither of us developed any infections and we are on week 3.

My friend and I went here to get some piercings a couple of months ago. I got my tragus redone and my nose pierced. The piercers hands were extremely shaky and he messed up BOTH of my piercings. I had to take them both out. My friend is in the same boat and had to take out her piercings as well. Complete waste of money. Super disappointed and now I have to pay even more money to have them re-done somewhere else.

Took my 6 yr old to Defiance for her rite of passage 1st ear piercing. Rob was so sweet to my baby, gentle, fast, knowledgeable and passionate about his career. Why the hell anyone takes their kid to a mall is beyond me. I highly recommend and plan to return for all of my pre prego piercings to be redone!!!

I gave Christina 5 photos with specific features from each tattoo I wanted incorporated in one. It took less than 5 min for her to pull together the whole thing on Photoshop and she did an absolutely phenomenal job. Would 100% recommend to anyone.

My friend and I went in to get small heart tattoos and right away they were very rude. Steve was the artist and he acted as if we were children. The guy who did the estimate on our tattoo was very nice and told us $40 each and then when Steve cashed us out he asked how much and when we said $40 he rolled his eyes and said it should have been $50. If I go back I am definitely requesting that Steve not be my artist.

Just got my nostril pierced today by Rob. It was an awesome expierence! They were super quick to wait on me and the piercing in general was super quick! He answered all of my questions that I had and was very friendly! Great job Rob! Thanks!

I got a tattoo on my finger for $30 a week ago and it almost completely went away. The artist told me he would give me a touch up for free since that happens with finger tattoos. I went in today to get it redone and they told me they would have to charge me again to get it touched up. I asked for the artist and they told me he had been fired. They fixed it and then charged me $45 ($15 more than the first time?) just to fix the mistake that they made. I ended up paying a total of $95 for one tiny tattoo on my finger. Never going back. Ridiculous.

Defiance use to be my go to for tattoos and piercings. Notice I said “use to”. Between Chase, Ryan, and Rob, I’ve had four tattoos and 5 piercings done. It wasn’t until I came in the shop around the second week of April 2018 looking to get a tattoo behind my ear that I decided I’d never go back to Defiance. War horse priced me at $65 to get Navi from Legend of Zelda behind my ear. I was hesitant because I always went to Defiance, and my best friend just got a tattoo behind her ear for $40 from defiance two weeks prior to myself coming in. So, her and I go in asking to get it priced, and we’re greeted by Mike, who was extremely rude as soon as we walked in. He seemed annoyed by us walking in and explained he was the only one there, and even though the shop wasn’t suppose to close for another 2 and a half hours he may not get to me that night. I said that was fine, I understood and that we’ll wait anyways, he took my name and had a couple people in front of me waiting to get pierced. I only had to wait maybe 30 minutes before he got to me, which wasn’t bad at all, I had a feeling he just didn’t feel like tattooing me that night at all which is why he said what he said trying to get me to leave. So, i show him the tattoo i want and he prints it out. He places the picture behind my ear to make sure it fits and tells me it’s gonna be $90. I was like what?? I’ve gotten bigger pieces here for near that amount, why $90? I didn’t even want color just black ink. Well he said it was “pretty big” so he had to charge $90, i said that doesn’t make sense cuz my friend, who i brought with me, got this tattoo behind her ear for $40 two weeks ago here. I show him her ear tattoo and he says “oh the one you want is bigger than hers”, i said no it’s not, and took the printed out pic he made, and placed it next to her tattoo. They were the same freaking size, the tip of navi’s wing to the bottom of navi’s foot was the same size and length as my friends storm cloud with a lightning bolt behind her ear. Mike got flustered and said he could do $80, i told him warhorse priced me at $65, and i could show him the messages between me and warhorses Instagram account for proof, and then asked if he’d match their price. He said again best he could do was $80 so i left. Went to warhorse the next day and they tattooed it beautifully behind my ear and only charged me $50. My friend and I will NEVER return to Defiance, which is sad because i use to talk about them so highly but now I tell everyone i can my story and how they’re much better off going to warhorse where every single one of their artists are kind and talented. It only takes one bad apple to ruin the bunch and Mike is going to continue giving Defiance a bad name with his poor attitude.

I did a walk in which was my fault i guess. The artist was in a huge rush it seemed. She didn’t even introduce herself, did the tattoo in 5 minutes, then sloppily slapped a bandage on there that fell off within an hour. The tattoo now looks super uneven and lines are not straight. On top of that this was my first tattoo. I was reccomend this place by multiple people but after my experience I will not go here again.

Terrible experience here. The guy that did my tattoo (Mike) misspelled my tattoo! It was supposed to say Keep moving forward. But he wrote Keep moving forwarad. How is it even possible to misspell forward?! Another thing I didnt like is that the whole tattoo was just very sloppily done. The letters are crooked and several spots on it arent nearly dark enough. He told me to come back in 14 days when Im all healed to get the tattoo fixed, but theres no way in hell Im ever coming back. And heres the worst part- I still had to pay something for a screwed up tattoo! I want my money back!!!

Larry took my artwork and then improved on it, listened to what I wanted exactly and seemed to care about he significance of the tattoo. Its a stag in memorial to my grandfather who passed a few years ago. Nice guy, great work, fun to talk to if your the type to talk while getting ink.

Hearing Harrisons experience about this place makes me never want to purchase anything from here. People who treat past employees like trash cant possibly treat their costumers any better. Its even worst because he was a poc, this behavior is sad. Everyone who abused him mentally and physically, the judge involved with the restraining order, the detectives who accused him of stealing(even when evidence proves he didnt) I hope yall have fun with yall karma, everything that happens- you deserve. Do better people! (If I could give 0 stars I would)

Friend and I went in to get simple tattoo, they were pqretty rude almost as if they were annoyed of what we were getting , after tattoo was done it got irritated right away , I have over 15 tattoos in various places not once have I ever had an issue with a healing process Ive treated this tattoo like I have every other one, they rushed & didnt shave the area before tattooing & now its red and has some green to the scabbing along with some redness , Sad that I didnt have a better experience considering I was on vacation, my friends tattoo is reacting the same exact way. What a shame, also they complained non stop about the next tattoo they had to do and wanted to charge the next people more just because they didnt like that they had to do the tattoos.

Iam not a tattoo guy.Im 70 and have my first Grandchildren.Designed a Tat went in and Mike drew the short straw and took care of me.The dates on my graphic was wrong.I felt less than brilliant.I called Mike he got me right in.Never made me feel as stupid as I was.Changed the graphic covered the errors and My tribute to my grandbabies is beautiful...to me.Mike is a genius!!!! Ask for him and youll be as thrilled as I am.Thank you Mike and God Bless.

My friend just went there the other day for a tattoo. Not sure if the dude we talked to was a recently hired because I dont remember seeing him before. My friend wanted to get a tattoo on her shoulder that was pretty simple. He wasnt very inviting when it came to explaining why he had to change the cursive and it was almost as if we had to coax him to explain to us using a little more detail. Mind you it wasnt like she didnt have money, she would have been willing to even spend more. But he was super short with her and wanted to make her change the writing....then she asked if she could just see the drawing when he was done to see exactly what he was talking about and if she wanted to go with it....she only said this as a meaning of she might want him to change A FEW things and I see it as if your getting a permanent thing put on your body you should be able to decide whether you like it BEFORE you buy. He was completely short with her BEFORE she got to explain why she wanted to see first and said flatly Im not drawing it unless youre for sure getting it.....and then WALKED AWAY! None of us said anything but I was completely floored. Usually when I come its not on the weekends and all of the staff have been really awesome and still are. I wish I got the one dudes name but I felt like he would have snapped at me if I asked at that point. My friend wasnt being rude. But she couldnt picture what he wanted to COMPLETELY change her idea with his VERY VAGUE description alone. She even asked if she could at least see a font book....dont remember what his answer was but Im sure it wasnt very pleasant either.....Ill probably still go there but I will avoid this one tattoo artist....I understand its frustrating being in customer service but please dont ruin it for the rest by being rude for no reason. You cant expect everyone to just roll with what you want their tattoo to be aimlessly. Remember the reasons we get tattoos is to express OURSELVES. While its understandable some things just cant be done at least try to work with us more. We are people and have feelings too not just $$$ and a number count. Btw she went to another shop. They were very polite and patient even though they were just as busy as Defiance and the tattoo turned out JUST fine....I dont know why the dude was saying the letters had to be huge.....too bad he coudnt just show us what he meant instead of expecting her to fork over money for HIS idea without explanation...

I went with a friend to get her tattoo done at this location. First, Christine, the tattoo artist, said that the facility didnt have small enough needles to complete the project. Okay the tattoo is four inches long, how is that too small???? Next, she asked why she didnt just get the tattoo in English. Why would you deliberately question someones personal work idea, when it could have sentimental value???? To me, that is extremely disrespectful. I am disappointed in this locations customer service and abilities. I. AM. TRIGGERED.

I got my industrial bar and I noticed it was a little crooked at first but I didnt think that it would become such an issue... now its hanging out of my ear and Ive been trying to twist the bell off but I must have a defective bar... I am pleased with my tattoo but disappointed in how rude they were... all the dude said was saline soap which I had no idea what that meant but he didnt educate me on aftercare

Terrible place to go. I recently went with my sister to get her tattoo done and service was terrible from the start. Mike tattooed and served her but did not seem to care about the customers wants or needs and was as if he just wanted to get it over with and take our money. Tattoo came out terrible with jagged cursive and odd spacing. Would not recommend.

This is a horrible tattoo shop. The woman tattooing me was so rude :( you’ll find employee abuse, poor hygiene, and very very bad tattoos. I chose a simple design that’s now blown out and painful.

Messed up my tattooUsed the wrong color ink, after it was tattooed I asked what color the artist used, he said black. I said I wanted brown and the boss said I didnt say that. I sure as Hell know I didnt say black ink and the artist never asked. Im still confused as to why the man I talked to in the beginning wasnt the same as the one who tattooed it. Very unprofessional approach. Go somewhere else

When i went to defiance i got my nose done and the guy who peirced my nose was so nice and he told me everything i need to know about it it didnt get infected either overall its was great i really recommend defiance for peircings

Before coming into this establishment I called and requested for an appointment. They stated they didn’t take appointments, just per-Walkins. After checking in and sitting there 45-50 minutes I was finally asked to come up and elaborate on what I was wanting to get, after seeing 4 other people being pulled into other rooms and getting what they had come after me to get finished before even seeing what I wanted. What a waste of historic kent space.

I loooooved Larry who did my tattoo on my foot. He was excellent and very patient because it HURT, lol. Btw, he is also HOT!! I would recommend anyone here, very friendly and accommodating :-)

The tattoo artists here have been rude to me and other clients the two times I have gotten a tattoo there and I overheard them talking about disliking the tattoos. Very unprofessional and it was a shame because I always hear good reviews from this place.

My hubamd and I just got matching tattoos for our son. Mike did mine and it was awesome. Great experience. This wss my 6th tattoo and my husbands 7th.

I dont normally write reviews unless I really have something to say... while my tattoo came out alright in the end, my friend who got the same one in a different color had to get hers completely redone somewhere else because the color didnt stay... The staff at first were friendly, but the guy that did my tattoo was impatient with me from the very beginning; first with the purple trace ink he got visibly irritated that I asked to have to up higher on my foot....later on it was really painful and he was not gentle at all, and I asked him to stop for a few seconds on two separate occasions, the second time he said he wasnt stopping again and that its going to hurt just as bad if he stops or not. I was offended and kind of snapped into staying quiet for the rest of my time there... The tattoo scabbed pretty bad and, like I said, he wasnt very gentle for it being such a sensitive area... and the color didnt stay as well as I had hoped but its too painful for me to get it touched up... I got my first two tattoos done at Cherry Hill in Naples, FL and I would pay for the ticket to go get my tattoos done there before I went back here.... I dont know how the rest of the staff was, but this man was not a great representation/model for this establishment...

Waited here for two hours, multiple walk-ins went ahead of us, and i ended up paying nearly 200 dollars for a tattoo with subpar line work, a wonky circle, and uneven text. I would avoid

Good tatts done here but the tatt artist make up their own prices and we were overcharged. Plus the wait is long and they are rude

Ok this place is very over rated. Tattoos are over priced and the guys there dont seem very enthusiastic or helpful. I walked out and was not impressed with these guys. Dont waste your money here.

They use sterile tools, the shop is clean, and the piercer is very nice. Extremely happy with Defiance!
