Tattoos by Lou Miami - South Beach

I walked in without an appointment because travel had just resumed after the pandemic and I wasnt sure if my flight would be on time so I didnt want to chance it. I selected this shop specifically because of Edsons work. Fortunately Edson was there and available and did an amazing job with my tattoo. I brought in some ideas and some sketches and he brought them to life and produced something better than I had originally envisioned. I love his black and gray technique and he was an absolute delight to work with. I have gotten many compliments on his tattoo and it healed beautifully.

I got my first two tattoos by Ray. I love them!! They both healed well and came out better than the reference!! Ray truly is an amazing artist! Coming back again❤️

Really sweet staff! I was pierced by luna respeto and she was super kind, she gave me a little book with aftercare instructions and genuinely made it a really fun experience :)

Just walked in with a group of 7, we all wanted tattoos and several of us got piercings. They were so accommodating, gave us all wonderful service and we all got some high quality work.

My husband wanted to get our sons drawing tattooed on his arm. Honestly I was a bit nervous but seriously Edson did an AMAZING JOB! The tattoo is exactly like the picture! I was so impressed, I decided to bite the bullet and get my first tattoo with him. He is a true professional and takes pride in his work. We will happily recommend him to anyone as great artists are hard to find.

We called first, but the girl said, Come on in. Small shop just off the beach on 14th street. All tattoo shops seem a little cluttered, but this one was clean, too. We explained what we wanted and showed Lou a picture, We did a little modifying and we were thrilled with the way they turned out. It seemed a little expensive, but he is right there by the beach. Im used to rural MO or TN. He was very meticulous about getting his work area ready and being prepared to create. The fine lines in our tats are amazing. He provided us with swag 🤩 moisturizing cream for after care and placed tega-derm type tape over our new art. Will definitely recommend him to anyone that asks.

Ive waited a week now to decide whether to write this or not. After seeing some other reviews like this, I have decided my thoughts should be known as well.I came here on a trip for my birthday, and my girlfriend and I decided getting some piercings would be a fun, memorable experience. It was memorable, but for other reasons.Firstly, the apprentice piercer was in charge of front of house, and had a condescending attitude to me. I asked to see a few of the jewelry pieces and she begrudgingly let me do so, but not without plenty of comments about how to hold the jewelry and not to drop every piece I asked to see.Secondly, this same person pierced my girlfriends ear, and needs to work on her bedside manner. She messed a couple things up, and said things like whoops and uh oh during the piercing process. I understand that mistakes can happen, but its important when you have a needle in somebodys ear to keep them feeling OK. Ultimately, my girlfriends ear bled profusely and she had nothing prepared for this scenario. I ended up grabbing paper towel off a counter but at this point the blood had soaked my girlfriends shirt. This was not confidence inspiring, and I probably should have taken this cue to leave. But Id already had to pay up front (which doesnt feel write ), so I went ahead with my piercing.My piercer was really nice and I liked her. But ultimately the piercing experience was very unpleasant. Firstly, I was trying to match a piercing on my other side. The location she first put was way out to lunch, so I asked her to move it a bit, which she did. Partly my mistake, but this second location I was hoping would be OK. She went ahead with the piercing, and I would say it took 20-30 solid minutes from the time the needle went in, to the time the jewelry could actually be placed. From the piece of jewelry breaking, to what seemed like the piercer never having the correct tools, this was gruelling. I could tell the piercer felt terribly for the entire experience.In the end, I left with the piercing only 3/4 inserted into the backing. When I got home, I looked carefully at the piercing compared to the other ear, and it was not even close. I went back 2 days later to ask them to remove the piercing. While the person running the shop at that time did offer to re-pierce at a later date (which I cant do because Im not local at all), there was basically no effort to make this right on their part. The only thing they did was add a couple extra lollipops to our take-home bags. Ultimately, my girlfriend and I were super disappointed. This was supposed to be a fun, memorable experience. She left with a couple decent piercings in the end, and I left with a pricey bad memory.

Luna and the rest of the staff of ladies were amazing. Very clean shop and extensive jewelry selection! Luna changed my jewelry quickly no pain involved!

Luna at the front desk was AMAZING and so knowledgeable. What an absolute sweetheart. Pinky the tattoo artist is the utmost professional! She made sure everything was perfect and listened to all the details. Her art is absolutely beautiful! This place is a must go to when you visit!!

Went with my sister to get matching tattoos and Lauren and Edison were Soo amazing ! They helped us create the vision were hoping for and we are so happy with the little butterflies we got behind our ears!

My husband and I went to the Miami Beach location. We got matching tattoos and after it healed, the lines just progressively are falling out. The tattoo is only a couple weeks old. It more closely resembles a temporary tattoo. It is disappointing because the tattoos are meaningful and now we have to find someone else back home to fix it entirely. The tattoo is on our hands, so they are pretty visible. Very disappointing.

Tattoos By Lou is the best. I don’t think I’ll let anyone but Pinky touch my skin ever again. She’s wonderful and loves her job and it shows in her work. The artistry and ideas she comes up with her wonderful. It always makes her one of a kind tattoo no matter what you get, I ask her to add a little flourish and she delivers every time. I’ve told everyone about her and I’m gonna do a video on my YouTube channel as well. And the girl that does piercings loves her job and is very knowledgeable as well.

Had an ear piercing done with Luna and she was amazing! Piercing came out perfect and Luna was great with placement, pain, etc.

Decided to get tattoos on our honeymoon and Tattoos by Lou was the first place we called based on the art and was greeted by the very kind Ray who told us Edson their fine line tattoo artist was working and they made my tattoo dreams a reality. Super kind, worked to make the details right, put us at ease and did a phenomenal job!! If you want a tattoo and specifically a fine line one ask for Edson! I also had a nose piercing that I could not get undone and Ray so kindly took it off with ease and replaced it with the perfect hoop. Could not say enough great things about this place!!

Leo did great work! We came to Miami for our 25th anniversary and he was friendly and the shop was super clean. Maria checked us in and made us feel welcome. Great experience!

Go see Edson if you are on a mission to find someone who excels as fine line/delicate tattoo. He is amazing!

Piercing NightmareThis is partially my fault for ignoring all the red flags, but a piercer (or tattoo artist) should never take a job they are not confident or comfortable taking. I went in to get both breasts pierced, called before hand to ensure there would be a female piercer who could take me. I went in and the lady didnt seem sure about her ability, but I had faith in the good reviews and recommendations for this shop so I asked her straight up if this was something she could do and was confident in doing. She said yes. I paid before hand, there was no privacy during the service (besides a little prop up changing wall), and the security camera could probably see me throughout the entire thing. But whatever, I am non confrontational and was very excited so I was willing to endure these discomforts. When it was finally time to insert the needle (after about 10-20 minutes of her fiddling with the guides) she inserted the needle through the side of my nipple and then pushed it out the front?!? She knew she messed up instantly, and took the needle out to bandage and clean me up. I know mistakes can happen, but this was insane. I was not shakey, or being a pain of a client (and if I was she should have said something?) Now, I have left with an injury, (that could mess up my anatomy if it heals incorrectly) and I couldnt even receive a refund instantly, I have to wait a week for a check. The worst part was she didnt even seem to feel any guilt or remorse? Or offer any sort of compensation. Laughed with her coworker about it when the whole experience was really embarrassing and traumatizing for me. It sucks because I am sure this shop has some amazing employees and artists (and I am sure she is great too but we obviously got off on a bad foot already), but having confidence in this line of work is an absolute must. If she had confidence in herself and some compassion when the mistake happened it would have felt a lot better on the receiving end. But overall, dont take jobs youre not comfortable in, if I wanted to go to an apprentice I would have. Next time I know to be a lot more picky with who I go to.Edit: The owner contacted me and offered to compensate me for these inconveniences. It was a pleasure speaking with her and it felt like she really cared about me as an individual and customer. Ive updated my review from 1 to 3 stars since the overall first experience was still very bad- but the customer service, follow up, and professionalism from other employees & owner makes me have faith in this place and want to try them next time I go back.

Rod and the Tattoos By Lou Clan are absolutely awesomely skilled, knowledge and just so real, they are so understanding and attentive to making the tattoo bring eternity/past/present/future in a moment... meaning that the care was there to find out the meanings of the past thats carried us to get said tattoo in that moment and solidifies it forevermore... so yeahh you can call it Tattoos By Lou but when you think about it... its more like a time machine with a bunch of Doctor.Whos bringing art out of the pain with the possess of healing and seeing the reminder expressed from within onto the skin.

I walked in to get a belly button piercing. Ray who was doing my piercing told me I had to pick a smaller jewelry because of the size of my belly button, this jewelry was also bigger to allow the piercing to swell a bit, without an irritation. She was very educated on piercings and it made me feel very comfortable when getting it. I know a lot of people who have had issues with their belly button, because the jewelry is too small, or their belly button is a little different like mine. This will definitely not happen to you here. Very comfortable setting with friendly and educated staff. Def recommend

We walked in for piercings and tattoos one evening and were helped by Bella and Edson. They were phenomenal! Bella was such a positive spirit and made us feel at ease with the piercings we got. Just got my cover up tattoo done by Jeff at the South Beach location a couple of days ago and I must say that I am a little disappointed from the finished product. I had a smaller rose from about 14 years ago that was done from Jade Dragon in Chicago and I wanted to get it touched up and redone so I went to Tattoos by Lou thinking my cover up would be done flawlessly but it was NOT! Jeff kind of rush my tattoo session and I think that I was over charged for the work that was done. I wanted leopard prints behind my rose cover up and he promised that they the leopard prints I showed him on my phone would look better than the pic I showed him but they do not look like leopard prints. It honestly looks like he did not know how to draw the leopard prints and he created his own prints. Before we started the session I asked him was this his first leopard print tattoo and he said yes but Ive been doing all kinds of tattoos for several years and leopard print is not hard to do. Unfortunately I live in Chicago and I was only in Miami for my b-day weekend so he knew that I wasnt going to come back into the shop with my complaints anytime soon. It just sucks that I have to wait until it heals (30-40 days) and find a local tattoo artist in Chicago to correct Jeffs mistake. Thanks A LOT Jeff :(

Spotted this tattoo shop after my honeymoon cruise and they did an amazing job doing me, my husband and our friends tattoos. My husband is paralyzed on his left side but he saw how much of an amazing job the artist was doing he took a risk and got a tattoo. He said he didnt feel uncomfortable at any moments and that we will definitely be coming back to visit soon !!! This place is highly recommended.

Let me start off by saying HIGHLY RECOMMEND TATTOOS BY LOU. Place is clean, friendly, attentive, and you’re going to get what you pay for so don’t think it’s going to be cheap (not that you should be wanting a cheap tattoo). My tattoo artist was Jose, I showed him my design and he drew it up PERFECTLY, exactly the size I wanted and just how the picture looked. He said he was going to do some shading and I told him I trusted him. He took his time, set out his supplies and got ready. When it was time to tattoo he made me comfortable and made sure I was ready. He took his time, was not heavy handed and let me tell you, I HAVE A PIECE OF ART ON MY ARM. I’m so happy I told him I trusted him and let him make the piece his own because he made it all the more amazing!! The vibe was cool, comforting and Mari was there, she was very friendly and came over to look and made me feel at ease. I highly recommend this shop and Jose is an amazing artist. I will be showing off my tattoo when I get home and I couldn’t be happier!

I just felt like I should leave a good review since Ive gotten multiple piercings here and none have become infected. You can tell the piercers know what theyre doing and Ive had a good experience each time. I got my naval done here 10 months ago and its already healed, and I came back and got two piercings on each ear not too long ago and they arent infected either.

Actually had to switch my appointment to the south beach location because the artist at the kendall location had some time conflicts. Needed this done ASAP since I was leaving town, and AMAZING. ALEJANDRO SMITH did the work and I could not be happier of how things turned out. Absolutely love it and would definitely recommend. 🙌🙌 Alejandro even added his own touch to the tattoo and enhanced the artwork 10X. Incredible.

Excellent artist named Joe just completed my piece. He was awesome! If you are looking for something special go see Joe. His art is amazing, he has great detail, shading and precision all while keeping a soft hand he definitely took the time to make sure it was just right for me and I couldn’t be happier. Came in on a Friday to check out the place and came across Edson.... so glad I did. We briefly spoke about a tattoo idea I had and placement. Although I didnt get the tattoo that day... we exchanged info and I checked out his page. His craft is nothing Ive ever seen before and I was intrigued! So much so, I came back the following Friday to get my tattoo. Personable, courteous, professional, and patient Edson did an amazingly awesome job on my tattoo! Best tattoo experience Ive had very professional and loved the wrap he put over my tat. Took it off in 3 days and have not had any peeling or anything. Wish I lived near there I would go for the rest of my tats.

Yesterday I went to reopen a piercing that I had in my nose. They told me they could help me. The lady spent 20 minutes trying to put the ring in my nose. I was very nervous and all I did was shake with nerves. I really did not like the service at all. Today I can say that my nose hurts a little.

Walked in and my friend and I had matching tattoos in about two and a half hours. My first one and it couldn’t have been done better. Thanks to Edison his work - he did a phenomenal job!

Gustavo was awesome, took what I wanted and customized to make it look even better. Me and my girl both got small tattoos about 3” in diameter, he was quick, professional, work came out awesome and wasn’t painful by any means. From someone who has several tats, this was a great experience.

Edson was a great tattoo artist. I went in for a scarlet witch tattoo and it came out even better then I had planned. I will definitely be returning.

I’ve known this shop since the early 90’s and it sets the bar for professionalism in tattooing for me. After reading these awesome reviews I have to say that the tattooist is only half of the equation. It’s the wonderful clients that make the tattoo experience successful as well. If it weren’t for you we couldn’t do our jobs so well. People like George Docherty are a great example of how well things go when the customer is enthusiastic, polite and so easy to work with.

I walked in two days ago for my first tattoo. I was so nervous but the staff was great they made me feel comfortable. Matt gave me a great deal and my artist Jeff did an awesome job I love it... I will be back for sure.

We were visiting South Beach and decide on the spur of the moment to get tattoos and piercings..the staff fit all three of us in and pierced and tattooed us. The staff was friendly and honest about our tattoos (we received finger tats) and gave us a fair price when the other shop across the street wanted to charge 150 bucks for the same tats...Fox was our artist and I cant remember the piercer but it was the Male piercer. They both were clean and professional.

Went in February and Matt pierced my nose. He was excellent! Very knowledgeable. Answered every question I had and was patient with me. Went back to change it and was another great experience. I would recommend him to anyone. 10/10 experience

Looked for and found old school Sailor Jerry ink. Got great recommendations from Rod about tattoo placement (I have a sleeve and a little left to finish on my other arm). Settled on the black cat 13- love it! Great conversation and very clean studio. Great prices as well! A must stop for any ink collector!

Rollie and the guys took care of me in the shop, got a nice Tattoo with on point linework and shading. They kept me and the gang in constant conversation and was overall a great time. Best shop in South Beach 😎 and great experience for my first tatt, got a piercing along with my Tattoo by Ray. Fantastic staff, will def stop by again next time Im in South Beach.

The piercer Matt made me feel extremely comfortable and calm. He made me feel like I was in good hands and he made my nervousness go down a lot. I highly recommend him if you’re going to get any piercings.

Came here for my fiancée to get a tattoo since Jeff had tattooed me years ago and the colors on my tattoo look just as great today as they did years ago. First impressions are everything Nina greeted us at the door with a smile. She was super friendly and helpful and professional. Today was the 3rd tattoo session for a full sleeve and color was placed. Looks amazing. Have maybe one or two more sessions and look forward to seeing. My fiancée is not from here and specifically comes to South Florida for the tattoo. Highly recommended.

My experience here was fantastic!!!! The guys who work here are amazing, and the customer service is refreshing. I felt extremely confident in there so I let joe freestyle my tattoo . I was happy with the creativity of my results.

I went to Lou store 4-5 days ago because I couldnt take off my earring, which I put on my ear cartilage 6 months ago. There was a black woman (i havent asked her name)SHe immediately received $ 10 before trading. After sitting in the seat, she tried to remove the piercing earring from my ear, tried for about 15-20 minutes. But I could not tell you about the pain howmuch was it omg! that I have experienced during this time. my neck and ear were completely tightened and turned red. SHe said she couldnt take it of from my ear and I had to go to the hospital. I didnt want to do this, so I asked her if there was anything like scissors to cut the earring out. And I could no longer bear the pain I was experiencing and I got information about how to get the earring out of where I bought it and said that I wanted to come back and asked what I paid; sHe told me that she would get paid again and that this was not the case for her, but it was precisely her incompetence. Because after that, as a chef in a cafe, I told my friend the situation and he held me from the back of the earring with pliers in his hand and took the earring out of my ear in 3 seconds without hurting me. Ive never seen a piercer as AMATOR as Lou. I am very lucky that my ear is not damaged or infected. I NEVER recommend you go.

Random person who wasnt even on the website pierced me-- or tried to. I had to have it removed after 5 months of pain. This is my 11th piercing and first problem. Whack! Look up your piercer and make sure it isnt an unsupervised intern...

My $150 finger tattoo was nice for the 4 days it lasted…. 🙃

My mom, sister and I all went into the South Beach shop on Monday and spoke with Edson and Jose about tattoos and piercing. I have been wanting a specific tattoo for several years and Edson’s design exceeded my expectations. My mom is also extremely pleased with her tattoo as well. This was a first experience for both of us and Edson put us both at ease. Jose was great piercing my sister’s ears. This shop is very clean and professional. I would recommend Edson and Jose to anyone in the South Beach area looking for a new tattoo.

The receptionist was very rude. $65 belly piercings where not even a mile down the road circus tattoos doea it for $40. Asked about a tattoo design, the guy said they dont do that there, and as I walked out said it was $95. Dont go here if you want good customer service.

Alex took his time and it didn’t hurt as much. Alex is gentle with his hand knowing I am a female and didn’t wanted to hurt as much. This will be my place for ever to get tattoo.Alex thank’s for the experience☺️☺️ I love my tattoo

I got a tattoo underneath my collarbone many years ago there, it was so light in colour and it scared so much that it peeled off. People have thought that it’s actually a dirty smudge on my skin 😢.

Fox was amazing gave me two tats on the hand and I LOVE!!!! Be sure to ask for him he will hook it up 😘❤️❤️ And Luciano is the cutest ❤️ Happy hour at the bar across the street was the icing on the cake!

Highly recommend this tattoo parlor for ear piercings! Can bring your own studs and have your ears pierced. Very professional, hygienic and clean shop to get some work done!

Luciano did an amazing job adding memorial text to a tatoo I already had. It looks awesome. The whole shop was very friendly too. I will definately be back next time Im in Miami.

My sister had got tattooed there and they have her a set priced tho party and she paid it in full. Going into the tatt my sister was in pain therefore the tattoo artist asked if we want to come back later and he told is we wouldnt have to pay since we paid in full. After that it was hard to get a session and eventually we heard he left without fininshing my friend tattoo. TattooBy lou ended up rasing the price outrageously and not giving us any refunds or deal due to the mishap on their part 👎👎👎 anyone who wants to go there be careful

Joe at the South Beach shop did an amazing tattoo of Miles Morales’s logo from Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse. He even did the paint drips on the logo as well. Definitely recommend!

I loved my finger tattoo! Would have loved it more if it lasted more than 3 weeks though. As you can see by the photos, my manicure lasted longer.

It was my first time in Miami on vacation, so I decided to get my first tat, looked up parlors n yours was the closest to me. The service was awesome. He did a great job on it.

This place was very professional ,clean and friendly, everyone greeted us soon as we walk in the door , my friend told the gentleman (GUS) what she wanted and he pulled it straight up for her with no problem didn’t even know he started on her tattoo his tattoo gun was so quiet , she told him how she wanted and he nailed it , great job GUS keep up the great work !!

Nice place just walked in was able to get a piercing only bad thing was it was SUPER expensive for a nose piercing $65 most of the other shops i found here were half that price.
