Fantastic Place To Get Tattoos from. Awesome Ambience, Atmosphere, and the Tattoo Artists there are Great. I have been Tattooed by JR Himself for the past 8 years and every idea and vision Ive had he made them come to life and fruition. The guys over there are like family and it is always love great vibes, and energy. Good laughs great stories and Awesome People. You cannot ask for anything more. I definitely would recommend this place 100%

Great intimate shop, nestled on Main St in Nyack (next to a cool thrift shop). Its here that I commit to making the hour & 40min Metro-North train (+ N07 bus) ride from Brooklyn to have Steve Kaiser (IG: kaiser_tattooer), work his magic of bringing pieces to colorful life on my canvas body parts. I ❤️ that we can collaborate to make unique tatts tastefully, just for me.I have three more to get done before the end of 2024, and then Ima do my best to chill 🤞🏽out 😉8.15.24 UPDATE: Got another done 👏🏽 by Steve! Two more big ones to go!!

Had my 30 year old USMC tattoo re-done by Steve; what an artist! Definitely would recommend Steve to family/friends and will be going back for something new at some point! Thanks Steve!!

I never leave reviews, but this place deserves one. I was nervous about getting my first tattoo, but Vanguard made sure I was in great hands. Steve was professional and took his time with making sure that everything was perfect. Overall, an amazing experience. Highly recommend checking them out!!

Steve was my tattoo artist. It was my first tattoo and he was very reassuring throughout the experience.

Amazing tattoo shop and artists. Went in on New Years Day to get one and was able to go in at 9:30 pm with my husband to get my little girls footprint. Although my husband and I were virtually getting the same tattoo JR made it so they both looked different. His attention to detail and his precision is like no other. JR was amazing knowing how nervous I was. The place was clean, welcoming and comforting. Even if you dont want to get a tattoo you need to go in there and check out the amazing rectangular toilet.

I would recommend this place to anyone who is thinking about getting a tattoo. I came theyre very nervous cause I was getting my first tattoo. I visited there twice once before I got it and the kind gentleman behind the desk Cosmo Manage to dissuade of my worries on tattoo. And told me what would probably be the best time with my schedule to make an appointment. I went in later that week to me another fine tattoo artist JR. Who asked lots of questions and was very precise to know exactly what I wide from my tattoo while the process was happening he kept me very calm and relaxed and I was overjoyed with the end product.

First and foremost all of the artist are great tattoo artists- however, my experience was a little different I was getting 2 sleeves done by JR. Everything was looking good but I would never get a set appointment after He’d finish a piece. He say things like “I’ll be in touch” or call me in a month” but meanwhile he’s booking appointments for the next 2 weeks and I’m just sitting there, like why aren’t I getting penciled in. I was always called at his convenience and it seemed I had to jump as soon as he called me. He’d call me and say he’s had a couple hours, usually it was just a little section. One time he called me to stop by because he had a cancellation and in the middle of getting my tattoo finished the guy who canceled came in, JR knew him and seemed excited, within 5 min he cleaned me up and said “ we’ll finish it next time” I was there for only 45 min. I rushed all there thinking was going to get a decent if work done, but nope……I traveled over a half hour for a 45 min that should of been 2 hours.Overall I was told that sleeves would be done in 3/4 months. Maybe faster because I had all the images I wanted already. Well it was 9 months and he was 60 percent done. I was spending enormous amounts of money per session, long or short.

I went to Vanguard Tattoo with my girlfriend and we got lettering tattoos. The artist was Ian Healy, who was very professional, dedicated, and perfectionist. He got the idea of what we wanted and did an amazing job. Besides, he is extremely friendly and sociable. I recommend this place to everyone who wants to get a quality experience. The tattoo shop is very nice and comfortable.

Book an appointment with JR...you wont be disappointed! Besides being a talented artist, hes laid back, easy & fun to work with.

@Darrien; dont know what youre talking about regarding Kelly. Ive had 3 tattoos and 1 coverup done by him and they all came out fantastic. His work is wonderful and I cant wait for my 5th one by him.

Place was really clean and with a very good vibe. Everyone was really friendly. They do have a $100 dollar minimum but the shop was overall great and the tattoo came out looking great. They have walk-ins on fridays!!

If you go here do not see Kelly, he cant do line work at all and Im very embarrassed to have this on my arm. I made a big mistake by trusting him so please stay clear of him. Hes very nice but he should not be tattooing. This review isnt to be mean I just want to warn people so they dont end up with a mess on their body.

Got my tattoo from the Vanguard shop in 2011... i brought inthe stencil i wanted of a set of wings on my upper back...i asked that it be placed in the center and black and white... It was black and white...but much more black than white... in fact now its just a big blur of black ink but thats not the worst part... ITS OFF CENTER. Its about an inch to the right of center... it looks stupid. I shouldve gone back to get my money back but i was insecure about speaking up since it was my first tattoo.. lesson learned and i never recommend this place since then. Hope its improved since then...

I heard it was hard to get an appointment but i walked in on a friday and they did my tattoo right then and there. GREAT PLACE! will go back again soon
