I met Chris during a friendly encounter at a supermarket back in 2011. Found out he created the most beautiful and perfect tattoos and never looked back.Chris and his crew are impeccable! Everyone that works there are ALWAYS down to earth annd approachable with questions or concerns, and that’s not always easy to find at every shop. This place is also so clean, I could eat off the floor. And of course the actual work is always on point!After thirteen years of being worked on by Chris and experiencing the constant chill vibe, this review is long overdue.Go get your ink at The Dolorosa!

Zander did my sons piercings and they are awesome! Super clean shop, very professional, friendly and soothing for his nerves. We had an excellent experience and his piercings are healing perfectly. Zander came highly recommended from another piercer who couldnt fit us in. You will not regret having Zander do your piercings!

I have been going to this wonderful place for over 6 years now and I am always very happy and excited whenever I have an appointment here!! DAN, CHRIS, AMY, JACKIE and so many others at the shop always do an amazing job and have such great art style and work they do!Ive had the privilege of being tattooed by Jackie and Dan! Chris, I love you. Decided to get a tattoo while in Australia and well... ended up with a candy cane. Chris was able to fix that atrocity and gave me something I am happy to have on my body. Great artists and great atmosphere. 10/10 recommend.

Chris did my tattoo almost a decade ago and it still held up and I still get comments on it everyday. Hes the best in LA and its not close.

Everyone is super friendly and its awesome to take a breather from getting work done to see what other customers are having done. Had my tongue pierced by Zander and couldn’t be happier! They are so sweet, explained the whole process and answered all my questions. Even when coming back they were so great, will definitely get pierced by Zander again!

I love this studio and my Tattoo artist. I followed my artist to this studio and I’ve managed to find an artist for all my friends at this studio. Everyone here is nice and friendly. All the artwork and tattoos are beautiful. Everything is clean and neat. They even offer privacy if it’s needed. 10/10 I’d come back… well I will be back lol

A great shop built by artists, for artists. They take care of their staff, and you will find many happy, friendly, talented people working here. The quality of work is a cut above. Give the echo park shop some love!

Excellent experience. My artist was Dan and he absolutely nailed it. Brought in a Vonnegut illustration and he got every inch of it perfectly. Great conversationalist during the tattoo but also willing to let you sit in the moment on your own if that’s your vibe. Great dude, great place, highly recommend.

Alan and Amy helped me with my piercings and they were amazing. Alan is the best piercer i have ever seen. I got high nostrils and he was so measured and intensional with the placement they look amazing. They makes some insane jewelry also

I can’t rate on their work bc they have yet to complete one requested service. So this review isn’t about that. They do not know how to operate this business. I’ve gone 3 times, different days, different times, asking for different services and walked out or away with nothing each time. I have been given extremely poor time estimates, being told a couple hours when it’s been many hours or not enough hours left in the day, stringing me along. If you can’t do it, you can’t do it. It’s fine. But what’s not fine is promising a service when you know there’s not enough time to do it. I could’ve gone somewhere else. I listened to them telling people 2 hours when I had already been there 5-6 hours waiting and there were still people waiting after me. Be wary. The wait times are not accurate.

Best experience ever. Clean location, professional and kind artists. I came here for my first ever tattoo and I loved it! I came with Tony ‘Solgr’ and I am more than in love with the tattoo he did for me !! The quality and blending is so gorgeous, he’s a sweet and easy guy to talk with. I highly recommend this shop and him! So many talented artists tooEdit: It’s been about 6 months since I got the tattoo and let me say I am still in love with it since day 1. I love how it came out and perfectly healed, I can’t wait to come back again!

First time visiting the shop. The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is very relaxed. I went to John (@inktagram) who is the nicest guy youve ever met, believe me. He went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and I fell in love with the work he did on me. Hes extremely talented at realism. I cant wait to go back to him once theyre able to open up again.

The shop ambiance was cool and calm... Not to mention everyone there was so nice and chill. My tattoo artist Christina Hock was light handed and relaxing to the point that I didnt even really flinch!! Her lines were super clean and she packed in the color! She will be my tattoo artist for life❤❤ Definitely recommend her and this shop to anyone who wants solid linework, fresh art and a chill artist that really loves what they do without all the drama!

Had my nose pierced by Zander and I can’t recommend them enough. They took their time, made sure I was getting exactly what I wanted and the piercing was virtually painless.

Jaclyn, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I know we didn’t talk much during the session. And that’s 1000% because I was trying to deal with the pain. But I want you to know how much I appreciate your art! I have been looking for about 10 years to find someone who could portray Stitch exactly how I wanted him. My parents passed away when I was a kid and the first movie I remember wanting to watch with my mom was Lilo and Stitch when it first came out and same with brother bear with my dad. So having the stitch tattoo right next to my moms hand writing means the world to me and brings back such happy memories, and I can’t wait to get brother bear next to my dads hand writing. Thank you so much. You were wonderful. And I sincerely apologize for moving so much, I’m amazed at how perfect the tattoo came out it considering the extent to which I was moving! I got two tattoos recently from Michael Mendoza at The Dolorosa recently. It could not have been a better experience. Michael is an amazing tattoo artist. He took the little direction I gave him and came up with amazing designs. His line work and shading is out of this world. Also, hes just a good guy and a great person to talk to while you get tattooed. If youre looking for black and gray, Michael Mendoza is your guy.

Michael Mendoza is the BOMB! His line work is the best in the Valley.. possibly all of LA! Came to him specifically for fine line detailed work (on my NECK) and he EXCEEDED expectations!! He takes the time to make sure its done right. The shop is Extremely CLEAN and welcoming. Loved the vibe and would definitely go back 🤘Thank you!!!

From the booking and planning process the final touches on the the last drop of ink, my experience at Dolorosa was flawless. Alix and Danny at the desk were incredibly hospitable and helped me through the entire process of booking an appt in these crazy covid times. Then Javi was a master of the fine art. A super cool guy with an incredible soft hand and point point attention to detail. I love my tattoo and I could not recommend a shop and team more.

Tony is great. Anna and Connie were so helpful in recommending an artist and setting up an appointment. I had a tattoo on my thigh that I wanted to get expanded. The pre-existing was done out of state and I wasnt willing to travel to complete it. It was important to me to find an artist that was able to make the addition look consistent. When I first talked to Tony he complimented the pre-existing and mentioned that he didnt really feel like I needed to add to it. That type of attitude and willingness to (potentially) turn away work for the sake of the tattoo is gold in my book. He worked with me to figure out exactly what I wanted and knocked it out quickly. Overall it was comfortable. Very grateful to the shop and look forward to returning.

Went for an appointment with Atrina Liz for my first yay. Was very taken care of, great music all the while, and plenty of reassurance. Inside is amazing with plenty of art and outside is so understated!

Nice shop with plenty of workers. A little crowded but they informed me they would be expanding the next day. Yanni did some good work custom drawing some rose tattoos and applying them.
