My best friend has been coming to Sophie since they started their apprenticeship and has done amazing work. I was so excited to get tattooed myself. Sophie created a vintage stuffed animal flash sheet which had a tattoo of a lamb that I fell in love with. I was able to connect with their art on a personal level and Sophie made me feel comfortable all throughout. We had great conversations. I was sad moving back home to NM but thanks to Sophie, I will always remember my first tattoo experience in Tucson. I will be coming back for more tattoos soon!

I trusted Cristina Perez (@thextinafiles) with my blackout and never looked backed! She is my go to girl and I will proudly wear her work on like 75% of my body. She pays attention to detail, is precise, listens, and has great ideas!!! Today I had Sophie McTear tattoo me with something very personal surrounding grief and honoring my Nonnie. Not only did Sophie collaborate with me and draw a tattoo that met my exact description she exceeded my expectations. She was immediately warm and welcoming. The owner Manda was there and started things off with excitement to have me there. I felt so welcomed and validated. Sophie was gentle, mindful, compassionate, and created a space where all of me was welcomed. We shared stories of our queerness and neurodivergence and connected deeply which made getting the tattoo extremely meaningful. Her art speaks for itself too. She nailed the image of Betty Boop and its such clean line work and thoughtful placement of shading. I couldnt say enough in fact Im already trying to get my sister to come here and meet Sophie so she can get a tattoo as well. Thank you for creating such a meaningful atmosphere. I am so grateful I found you Sophie you were amazing and I will be back!

Sophie was fantastic! They were able to bring a tattoo Ive wanted for year to life in absolute perfection while making the whole experience comfortable and transparent. They even put up with my friend making ridiculous comments the whole time and it was easy to understand and follow of all of the after care. I couldnt have asked for anyone better to give a more comfortable and empowering tattoo experience. You definitely need to check them out!

Ive been meaning to write this review for a long time! Sophie McTear is the best tattoo artist around. They designed and tattooed a tarot card that I got on my arm (the Star card) and the entire experience was wonderful. I went in for a consultation first and we were on the same page right away because Sophie showed me some images, and visuals always help convey things that words sometimes cant. The shop is very welcoming, and each artists personality is on display at their stations. A lot of the shops Ive been to before have been very male dominated and it was refreshing to be in a different atmosphere like the one at Sublime. When I got tattooed, Sophie put a ton of care into the placement of the stencil on my arm, going so far as to take it off, clean my skin, and reapply it. Not every artist goes that extra mile. My tattoo healed nicely and I get compliments on it all the time. I look down at it frequently to remind me of everything the card symbolizes to me. I love all of Sophies work so much and am looking forward to having them tattoo me at Sublime again sometime soon.

Iv been getting tattooed my Manda for a long time & the environment she has created for her shop cannot be matched anywhere else. It’s such a safe and fun place to be. Her team is always so amazing, I recently got tattooed by Cristina P. & her work was just as dope. I love the conversations & connections I have with everyone there. Even the support I get when I’m not at the shop! The other day I got a flat tire right down the road from sublime and manda & Cristina came to my rescue with me n my baby in the car. They took care of everything for us . I’m truly blessed to have gotten to know Manda and her team! I love you guys.

I’ve been to Sublime for three tattoos with Sophie McTear — two were their unique, beautiful flash and one was a custom piece heavily infused with their delightful artistic style. Sophie is so talented as a designer and their tattooing skills are also top notch. Sophie always makes me feel so welcome and prioritizes my comfort, making sure I’m happy with placement, etc. before a drop of ink touches my skin. Owner Manda treats everyone like her new best friend, too — always a joy to see her. The energy in the shop is chill, friendly, and fun — one of the best spots in Tucson for ink!

Sophies attentiveness, respect, admiration, and skill are a few of the many traits that makes them a phenomenal tattoo artist and human. I didnt have any tattoos prior to my initial consultation with them, and I am beyond lucky and happy for that. I have a high pain tolerance but even so, they have a gentle hand and are so good with checking in with you. I even received my second tattoo from Sophie just 6 months after! 10/10 would receive ink again! Thank you, Sophie!

Sophie is great! I had a little idea and a sample pic and she drew it up in her style, which I looove more than the original picture. She was open to my suggestions when I wanted a change (Personally, it is veerrrry hard for me to ask tattoo artists to change their work.) She added in magic to fill in the space with similar style of another of my tattoos, to really pull the pieces together on my body. She has a great touch and I felt comfortable and safe the whole time. Her space was immaculate. The atmosphere was relaxing, but also fun. I had a great experience and recommend her to anyone who asks.

Had my first tattoo done today by Sophie McTear. I have chronic health concerns and Sophie took so much time talking to me in consult as well prior to the appointment. I felt very comfortable and safe and the tattoo is adorable. Would highly recommend Sophie!

I have received tattoos from a few different artists at Sublime Tattoo. My go to ladies are Christina and Manda. When Stray Creature and Alyssa were there I got work done by them as well. Every piece I have has meaning and symbolism. Christina did an excellent cover up for me as well. The atmosphere is great, the people are wonderful, and the art is impeccable. Every time I’ve gone Cristina Perez has always gone above and beyond whether it was sitting and designing the tattoo to exactly what I wanted in my head, taking me with one days notice, and of course the customer service. She was also very considerate with my first tattoo and did an amazing job. I always enjoy getting tattooed and love seeing her designs on insta @thextinafiles . I’ll definitely be going again and I live 2.5 hours away so y’all know it’s gotta be good.

I absolutely love the work Manda did. I knew I wanted to have a memorial tattoofor my parents who both passed two years apart. I knew I wanted my mothers favorite flower (sunflower) and my dads birth flower (narcissus). She came up with the most perfect, beautiful design. She unknowingly put the perfect number of flowers. The large sunflower in the center is for my mother who was the center of our world. The other two sunflowers are for myself and the baby she lost. There are three narcissus flowers. One for my father and the other two for my twin brothers. Manda then made it so much better when she added love ya mom in my mothers hand writting from a letter she wrote me. I couldnt have asked for a more perfect tattoo. I cried the second I saw the stencil and knew it was absolutely perfect! Manda was so caring and made me feel so comfortable. She made such a safe place to feel welcome and allowed me to feel the emotions I was having around this tattoo. I will forever go back to Manda whenever I want something new!

Manda gave me an experience and art piece beyond my expectations. A beautiful sea turtle with mandala above. Clean sharp lines, color that pops. Words dont do this piece justice. Its gorgeous and it makes me feel beautiful. Thank you Sublile tattoo and especially Manda!

Here to give Sophie McTear their flowers. Ive wanted this tattoo piece for quite some time but was unable to find an artist whose work and purpose behind their work felt in alignment with my values, what I care deeply about (sociopolitically), and overall, whose work spoke to me. After months of research, Sophie was that person and I couldnt be happier. *side note: some friends of mine have also been tattooed by them* The entire process--from scheduling a consultation, having a consultation, setting up an appointment date, and coming in to get the piece done--was a breeze! Theyre a great communicator, answered all the questions I had, and created an affirming and validating space. Im so pleased with my tattoo and cant wait to come back for another (soon hopefully!). She was very professional and kind and it meant a lot that she cared about what the session was for.Her line work was excellent and the tattoo came out exactly as I envisioned.I look forward to working with her again in the future!

Manda gave me my first tattoo. It was a memorial tattoo for my adult son. He is missing; three years now. He was suicidal, so….. She was so sweet. Helped me design a beautiful memorial. She was patient while I cried under my hoodie. I finally came out. She ask me what my son’s favorite things were. It turned into a wonderful conversation. Reminiscing over the fun times with my son. Not only is this woman incredibly talented. She is an amazing person. I not only was thrilled with the work; I also got a beautiful friend too!! I now have 3 works of art on my body. Amanda is my fav tattoo artist. I have half of my tattoos from the amazing Amanda. Theyve all held up super nicely and I love having her as a tattoo artist. She makes you feel welcomed, checks in to make sure youre feeling okay and takes breaks if you need them.
