I’ve gotten four tattoos here (about seven sessions) and absolutely love all of them. I get compliments nearly every day on the half sleeve Josh designed for me, but all of the tattoos I’ve gotten here by both Josh and Sam are incredible. The shop is clean and all of the staff are always very friendly and professional when I’m there. When there was a miscommunication about my appointment date/time with Josh, Sam was able to fit me in same day for a different tattoo and Josh rescheduled me immediately. They have fair prices for the quality of work that they do, I can’t recommend this shop enough, it’s that good.

I’ve had multiple amazing tattoos fromJosh and the experience has always been amazing. The art work is next level. Josh is also kind, compassionate, and pretty cool to hang out with for hours on end- even when being jabbed with needles. I’ve also had my eyebrows done by Liz and her talent and perfectionism are only surpassed by her kindness. It leveled up my confidence to frame my face and I knew I could trust her because her portfolio and reviews were all so good! I notice how kind and welcoming everyone at the shop is, everyone I interact with is kind and helpful. I love watching them encourage and learn from each other too. From your first tiny tattoo to a full body suit- everyone is welcomed and respected. 10/10 recommend.

Great shop amazing original art all over. Brian hemming has done all of my tattoos but I would happily go to anyone at the shop. I’ve recommended GITM to several friends and family members. Super clean, great staff, great tattoos.

I got tattooed at this shop last year for the first time. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The shop is super clean and neat. Prices are extremely reasonable for the caliber of work you’re going to get.I had admired Josh’s work for years before I finally took the plunge and made an appointment. I am incredibly happy with my tattoo and my experience from this shop. I recommend it whenever someone asks where I got my work done. Definitely my favorite tattoo shop to frequent.

One of the best tattoo shops in the city! I have been getting tattooed here for years by Brian and Josh and have never left short of satisfied. Not only are the artists professional and respectful throughout the process, (honoring the clients vision for their piece staying communicative, being on time) but the space is clean, well-lit, and comfortable. They can accommodate lots of styles and designs, and it’s easy to park nearby (always a plus in Boston!) It is always a fun and relaxing place to get tattooed and as someone with a good amount of ink I rank it highly among all my experiences!

Met with Josh for a full torso tattoo and he absolutely crushed it. Exactly what I wanted and was very easy to schedule with. Would definitely recommend this shop to anyone looking for something sick. (Just gotta get the shading done)

This shop rules. Three of my friends and I dropped by for walk-ins on a Sunday, on the off-chance they could fit us all in. Not only did Michelle stay late to do all our pieces herself, she nailed all of them. Mine was probably the most complicated but she totally got my vision and it turned out perfect. Plus the shop minimum is super reasonable, and the shop itself has a gorgeous atmosphere with incense burning and plants everywhere. My favorite spot in the Boston area so far and Ill definitely be back.

My artist Brian Hemming is amazing and the only artist in the city I will go to. From concept to reality, he always understands my vision and the final piece comes out better than I could ever imagine. The shop is clean and comfortable and all the other artists there are super nice and friendly.

I have only ever gone to Brian Hemming, but his tattoos are the ones I get compliments on the most. If I lived closer I would book with the other artists cause they all have great portfolios. It’s a unique shop with a great aesthetic and good music choices.

Ive had several tattoos done at GITM and have throughly enjoyed each experience. The shop is clean, the staff is friendly and the music is always on point. Cant recommend Brian enough for traditional pieces. Hes a great artist and reasonably priced!

GITM is one of the best tattoo shops I’ve had the pleasure of going to. With a variety of tattooers all versed in different styles the work that comes out is impressive. I’ve gone to Josh for all the work I’ve gotten there and I’m always over the moon with his creativity and attention to detail. It’s great as a client when the tattooer is flexible with ideas and is making sure the process is as comfortable as it can be. Always impressed with the professionalism and the pricing for the quality of work I will continue to go to GITM for the remainder of my tattoos.

Ive been getting tatooed by Josh at this shop off and on for years. Bold black ink for a lifetime.Steadiest hand Ive been under and he has always been willing to use his expertise to make a tattoo look the best that it can from the intialial design until the final wipe.The shop itself is clean and pleasent to be in with an array of awesome art to look at while you wait. The artists and assistants genuinely seem happy to be there.If youre on the fence go in and check the portfolios, and over the hum of the coils you will see what I saw my first visit. Talented professionals safety providing a fantastic service for a fair price.

Got a tattoo from brian hemming a little over a year ago (or two? idk who has sense of time anymore) and the process was super smooth, and he knocked my idea out of the park! i booked the appointment online and gave him an idea of what i wanted with some reference images. before our appointment, he texted me a couple of sketches to get my thoughts which was super appreciated. he also worked within my budget! super friendly, and also the entire space was very relaxed and welcoming. my tattoo still looks great, and i’m looking forward to my next project!!! thank you again!

I have nothing but good things to say about this shop. I have had 5 tattoos done with Michelle and I cant say enough good things, she is professional, funny and she was awesome with all my ideas! Ghost in the Machine is an incredible shop, and Brian Hemming is a true tattoo legend. Brian did my torso tattoo and I’ve spoken to other tattoo artists that recognize his work, complement me on it, and then go on to say he’s an inspiration to their work.Beyond being a master tattoo artist, Brian is also just a fun guy to talk to. Whether it’s sci-fi movies, D&D, or just life in general, conversation flows easy with him and that adds a ton to the already welcoming atmosphere of GitM.Highly recommend you get tattooed by Brian at GitM.

This place is a gem and I really enjoyed my appointment here with Josh! The space is lovely; good music, cool decor, and incense, plus it was very clean. Josh was kind and communicative, making sure I was comfortable and checking in often during the 3 hour session! I love the design he created for me; he incorporated everything I wanted in a very well-composed and balanced piece. I was very satisfied at how quickly, yet accurately, he worked. His line work is very clean and beautiful, and the different line weights add great dimension to the tattoo. We decided to make a second appointment for the shading, and he made it super easy to schedule that appointment as well. I found the price to be very reasonable too. I will definitely be coming back here in the future for more tattoos!

Love this shop! All the artists are so friendly and everything is clean and handled very professionally. I’ve always had a good experience. Michelle is a great artist and always makes me feel super comfortable, never rushes any decision making, and makes the whole experience enjoyable!

I was tattooed by Michelle Dugan, and I could not have been happier with the experience, start to finish. She was warm, friendly, supportive of my ideas, and had an incredible sense of aesthetic and art. Her work on me was an excellent blend of my vague descriptions and her expert skill. She was efficient, but thorough, checking her own work frequently, and was very attentive to my pain level and comfort. I was thrilled with the result, and with her skill and “bedside manner” throughout the entire process. I hope to be tattooed by her again.

The shop is clean, friendly, professional and full of some of the most talented artists I’ve seen in Boston. The decor is gorgeously eclectic and the area in Brighton is an adorable hive of hustle and bustle. Looking in any direction will give you something interesting to see or do; highly recommend.

GITM is my go-to tattoo shop in the Boston area and has been for years. Both artists I’ve been tattooed by (Michelle Dugan and Josh McAlear) are amazing and have been nothing but super professional, patient and helpful with my crazy ideas and concerns, and I’ve always left with something better than I had imagined. The other artists in the shop all seem to churn out super high quality work every day too. I’ll probably eventually get tattooed by all of them as well 😎

This place may be good but they are horrible in getting new appointment. If you are an existing client the Artist will respond, however if you a new client looking to schedule an appointment you email goes MIA. I have email Michelle Dugan, Sam Berg and 2 other Artist and never got a response to any of the emails that was sent. When you call, you can not get an appointment. They just inform you to just email the Artist and do not help you out.Poor New Customer Service

Josh was so great! he really took care of you and wanted your input every step of the way. the shop can get a little cold, so bring a jacket, and appointments are booked out a little far but in my opinion its worth the wait. they gave awesome tips about after care and were very professional. i would go to them again!

Bill Byers does absolutely amazing black and grey as well as color realism and portraiture. I had no intention of getting a full sleeve but after I got my fathers portrait on my fore arm, I knew I had found a truly exceptional artist and continued to give him free reign over my entire sleeve. It was the best decision ever and I came out with a much better sleeve then I could have ever imagined. People comment on my sleeve in amazement on a frequent basis.Bill is also super nice and a pleasure to work with as are all the people who work at this exceptionally rad shop.Cheers

Just got my first tattoo here by Michelle and couldnt ask for a better experience and environment. Everyone here is very talented and welcoming. Plus the shop itself is a very cool place to spend time in.

Was here last week to get work done by Brian Hemming. Ive been going to him for over a year now and am always blown away by his work. The shop is spotless and has lots of great flash and artwork. Easy to get to location in Oak Square with lots of free street parking. Will be back soon to get more work done.

Finally bit the bullet and received my first tattoo from Erik. He made me feel comfortable and asked questions to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. The entire shop has such a cool vibe and was extremely clean. Now I can’t wait for my second one!

I got a tattoo from Daniel Bythewood here and it was a phenomenal experience from the moment I walked in for a consultation. This was my first tattoo, a relatively small bird on the inside of my bicep, and for a first timer I couldnt have received better instructions or care. Its the little things they do, apart from the art which speaks for itself, that culminate into a 5/5 experience. Highly recommend.

Just got done having work done by Erick the shop owner. Had an amazing experience I would definitely recommend using this shop. It had everything you want in a shop. Michelle did an amazing job with two of my tattoos! They were my first ones and she was very patient, helpful and kind with both of them!

I called to get an appointment for just a simple black outline of my dog. The person on the phone said they would probably be able to fit me in but he had to ask the artist and he would call me back. He laughed at me and really sounded like he wasn’t taking me seriously. Over an hour went by so I called just to check in and the person over the phone laughed at me again and said he will call when he asks. I then never got a call back.😢 Bummed because I lost the chance to call another place because I was waiting on them.

PLACE IS A SCAM! If I could give this place no stars I would! The owner Erik charges $80 for a down payment. I gave Erik my money. Come to find out that the drawing he did looked nothing like the photo I showed him. He also told me that my favorite part of the photo would not work. BEST PART IS that I am a USMC Veteran, and still currently still in active duty. We all know we don’t get paid a lot and Erik wouldn’t even give me half my money back
