Acme Tattoo and Piercing

Had a great experience with my 2nd ear lobe piercings yesterday. Staff were welcoming and efficient. They approved and sanitized the earrings Id brought - (although you can buy there if you prefer). The piercings are well placed and have been totally pain free. The whole process was hygienic and professional. This would be a good place for kids first piercings because of the effort they go to to ensure clients feel comfortable. Thanks so much, you guys are the best!

Very clean and friendly. I got my first piercings here, done by Ariel, and I was very happy with them. I love all the art everywhere along the walls. A few days later there have been no problems with my piercings whatsoever. Highly recommend this shop 👌🏻.

Gotten my nose and navel pierced here. Both times the area was disinfected very well beforehand. Followed the aftercare instructions and have never gotten an infection.Riess is my piercer and she was very kind and took great care during the piercing process. She was happy to answer any questions I had and took her time to make sure I got what I wanted with my piercing placement and the jewelry. Definitely recommend her!! 🩷

My daughter had her nose pierced here on Saturday. We asked which jewelry they pierced with they told us a L ring. When she woke up the next day her nose was swollen with the ring inside the hole. We called they said that she should return because it was pierced with the wrong jewelry. When we return to have them fix it they tried to make us pay more money jewelry saying that they should have not used that jewelry. This was my first and last time using this place.

I stopped in real quick to get my nose ring changed out, as I was going to need one easily removable for surgery. I was in and out in about 10 minutes and was able to get the perfect nose ring for me. Definitely a great spot for good service.

Never had anything but positive experiences here!! I had Wes give me a shaded orca tattoo back in 2022 and just today Mike gave me a fantastic fine line trolly car. Everyone is extremely knowledgeable and friendly! Absolutely would recommend to anyone wanted to get a tattoo!!

DONT TRUST THEIR METALS. They charged $75 for a fake bar. I got my eyebrow pierced last summer and have had consistent inflammation/reactions to it even though they said it was stainless steel. Last week I replaced the bar with a real steel bar and it has completely healed. They told me to treat it with bactene 2x a day, but that stung and didnt work. The piercer also tried to coerce me into being his Instagram piercing model in exchange for free piercings. Overpriced, sketchy place.

This place was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint! Chris took excellent care of my daughter and had the best bedside manner. He explained everything and totally put her at ease as this was her first piercing. Also everyone who I interacted with there, either on the phone or in person was always so nice! Great place!

Riess and Carlee literally just saved my life. My conch is so angry at me and so swollen, my bar was too short and impossible to get out. They were so gentle and caring with helping me remove it, replaced it with a longer bar and were so unbelievably patient and helpful towards me. I was literally in tears from the pain — probably some of the worst pain I’ve been in — they were so sweet. I wish I could pick up this piercing shop and these two ladies and drop it in Durango… thank you so much ❤️❤️

I have been to Acme in the past for a couple tattoos as well as a cartilage piercing with an apprentice. I wanted to post a review today for the outstanding service I had today. I took my little sister to get her nose pierced and got one of my piercings reopened. Chris did such an amazing job putting her at ease. He took a look at my old piercing and was able to open it up with out piercing it again. Very happy with our experience and will be returning again in the future!

We have been for two piercings for our daughter (the first one didnt work out). The staff are friendly, professional, and very kind. Piercings are quite pricey, but you can be assured of the quality.

Watch out for their pricing. I’m very happy with the tattoo I got here but they are definitely trying to upcharge, I assume the heavy college population lets them get away with this. When I politely pushed back on the quoted price, they had some attitude I called the bluff. Use your good sense and you’ll be fine.

I got a 3rd earlobe piercing, a friend got a forward helix, and brought my mom and her friend for helixes as well. Reese was so patient and professional with us! Would trust her with any piercing- no pain for any of us!

After reading lots of reviews, I choose Acme for ear piercing. My daughter (12) and I both got 2nd ear lobes done by Riess. She was kind and it was easy! Thanks for making it a great experience.

I got a cartilage and re-pierced a second piercing that had closed. the top of my ear is slightly “collapsed” or folded over, so I thought I wouldn’t have been able to get a cartilage piercing. But Chris (who was great btw) was able to easily work around it and gave me some options that I chose from and it looks great. I also learned a lot about piercings/earrings and he recommended bodyartforms.com which has tons of earrings and other jewelry!

Chris is the absolute best piercer in the area, theres a reason everyone recommends Acme. Hes quick, reasonably priced, has a great personality, and all of my piercings from him so far have healed beautifully. I wont go anywhere else from now on.

Got a walk-in piercing at acme and their piercer Chris was able to take me right away. He was so lovely and warm while prepping me! He advised me on placement and then let me play around with where I wanted it — then he walked me through after care, and that was it! The staff were all very nice, great 80’s rock music, fun atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back (and especially to Chris!) for my next one! :)

I got my nose pierced at this place and lemme tell u it is prolly the BEST spot to get it done. great atmosphere, the guy who did it was super chill and nice, and the environment was clean/sterile. i got a double nostril and they healed up great. will be going back!

Scott did an amazing job converting a photo of my daughters beloved dog, who recently passed away, into an amazing facsimile tattoo. The detail-work and artistry were absolutely incredible. She will always cherish this.

I just adore Riess! So far, she has pierced my helix, mid-helix, second lobe, and conch. Literally none of them hurt and they heal like a dream- we’ve used 14k gold as initial jewelry for all of them and her technique is quick and easy. I plan to get a few more piercings in the near future and I wouldn’t consider going anywhere else.

Just to preface, I live over 2 hours away. I visited someone in Charlottesville and stopped here on my way back home to get my industrial re-pierced, and my partner wanted her nose pierced. They told us they were fully booked for the day, but a very nice body piercer (I forgot her name, sorry!) walked by and told us she could fit us in, despite the shop being fully booked! I couldn’t have asked for a better first experience due to living so far away. It shows how much they care about their clients. She was friendly, quick, and personable. I’ll definitely be recommending this shop to friends.

The staff at acme are amazing. Chris has done all of my piercings and he’s an amazing piercer. The sweet girl at the counter is always friendly, helpful, and wonderful. They have been able to see me on short notice. The appointments are quick and he talks you through everything as he’s doing it. I’ve have 16 piercings done there and every time it’s an amazing process, they’re done well, the jewelry is great quality, and the piercings heal great. I recommend all my friends go here 10/10 the best shop

I havent had my ears pierced in 40 years! Chris was professional, entertaining, fast and made me comfortable.I got 5 piercings, I love them and Ill definitely go back!

Husband and I came in for a walk-in tattoo. Regarding my tattoo, The design is what I asked for buy I feel that the tattoo quality was a huge disappointment. The work was rushed and I’m a few weeks into my healing and the lines are blown out and blurring together so much. The linework is incredibly sloppy and lacking quality. The artist rushed through it and it shows. The artist spent 40-45mins on my tattoo and charged me $150, but spent one and a half hours on my husband’s tattoo and also charged him $150. At the front of the shop it says shop minimum is $100 so why was mine the same price as a bigger more complicated piece that you spent double the time on? My husband’s tattoo clearly has better linework and attention to detail than mine. Most likely because my husband picked the guy’s flash and he wanted to make sure he made his own art look good. I don’t need my artist to have an ego but rather give all tattoos equal amount of effort and quality. I will not be returning here even to get work by another artist.

I’ve had four cartilage piercings done here and all have healed or are in the process of healing very well. I like their buy one get one half off deal where you get two piercings for 90$ jewelry included. I’ll be coming back!

I got two new lobe piercings and a helix, and Riess was so fantastic! She was super professional, speedy and efficient but also had the best bedside manner. I felt super at ease. She was also great about answering all my questions since it was my first cartilage piercing. I would absolutely recommend seeing her if you need a piercing. Definitely bring cash though!

Riess is an absolutely amazing piercer! I went in to get snakebites done but the anxiety caught up to me and i only got one done and she was so helpful and calming the whole time! The piercing booth i went into was also gorgeous. Im definitely going back to get all my other piercings done!

Got a walk in appointment and was made so uncomfortable by the artist. i was never told his name but he charged more than he should for one line and was condescending and rude the whole time. he refused to let anyone sit next to me or let me take out my phone to pass the time. would not recommend anyone going here, especially if they’re female-presenting. my male-presenting coworker had no problems but my female-presenting coworker and i both got botched jobs

Awesome shop. Got my septum done in less than ten minutes. Chris was really nice and knowledgeable! He eased my mom’s anxieties and answered all our questions. I’ve had my septum for almost two years in November and I’ve never had any issues with it. Easiest piercing I’ve EVER gotten, and the least painful. Will definitely go back if I ever decide to get something else! Shop is clean and well kept. Super professional too. Highly recommend them!

I came here to get another lobe piercing 6 weeks ago and am rather disappointed by the experience. My ear was never sanitized before it was pierced and it definitely felt like my piercer was rushing to be done as fast as humanly possible. The piercing also hurt for several weeks which is not normal for the location. Ive healed several piercings before from other parlors without any issues but after 6 weeks this piercing has a large irritation bump. I honestly didnt know lobe piercings could even develop them! In the future, Id go to Richmond for my piercings.

Very clean and friendly! Got my first below the neck piercing at Acme within an hour. Filled out some paperwork and the girl who pierced me was super delicate, knowledgeable, and professional. Had the best experience, made me feel that much better. Looks great - grabbed their wound solution and my friend and I were good to go. Def recommend!

Ive been going to Acme tattoo and piercing for almost 20 years. Some artists/piercers have come and gone so I cant speak much on the new ones. I can say I have always had a great experience there. In general, they are a VERY clean parlor. Greg Viar is my usual artist but all of their artists are very talented. Yes, their prices may be a little higher than others but I know that the work is worth it and, as mentioned above, theyre very clean and sanitary.

Riess is a 10/10 piercer! We did a double nostril and added an ear lobe. She was so kind and patient as we played around with placement. I couldn’t recommend her more!! Please go see her for all your piercing needs.

Got two piercings at another place a few years ago and the guy did them crooked. After a week I went to Riess and worked with her to get them fixed. They healed beautifully and were exactly what I wanted!!Then I came here a few weeks ago to get my 2nd holes and nose done by Riess specifically. She was fabulous and discussed placement with me in regards to healing and the jewelry I wanted. And my piercings have all healed wonderfully!!

I got my nose and ears pierced here, and everything went very well. The girl who pierced me was very nice and was quick to get the painful parts over with fast. She definitely seemed like she knew what she was doing, and I am very happy with the final product.

Mark is a great tattoo artist. He was helpful in picking design & placement, and wasnt heavy-handed like some are. He was nice and easy to talk to. The time went by fast. My tattoo is healed and looks nice. I will be back!

When we arrived we were welcomed by a very pleasant young lady, we were then greeted by a gentleman by the name of Chris, who was going to be piercings my sister and me....he invited our mom to come back also...Chris was very kind and made us all feel very comfortable. Tried to go for a tattoo after a backpacking trip. Simple line of the trail we did. They tried to rip us for $100 a tat, 3/4 in radius on the leg. Honestly, be better yall.

Ive had a septum done by Chris and a tattoo by Mark. Everyone is the shop is so friendly and easy to talk to! I came in today and the shop was PACKED but all the staff were calm and extremely helpful! These guys and gals ROCK.

I cannot say enough good things about this place! The guys are always kind, relatable, & make you feel comfortable! Chris has done almost all of my piercings (except the ones I got when I was VERY young) & they are all perfect! He is hilarious & always makes you feel relaxed! Wes is a tattoo genius who took a terribly hard tribal tattoo cover up & made it beautiful! He also did some delicate tattoo work for a family member that turned out amazing! I got my daith pierced yesterday evening by (I think her name is) Debbie. She did a fantastic job! I’ve had all sorts of different piercings done in the past and she was easily the best piercer I’ve experienced. I seriously didn’t even know she had even pierced me until it was over it was that painless. I imagine daith piercings are usually somewhat painful, so I was floored by how painless she made it. 10/10 very professional, kind, and patient. I will be requesting her again!

Had THE BEST piercing experience i have yet to have at acme of charlottesville. Ive had many piercings done but this place was by far the friendliest, cleanest, most professional place i have been too. we were in and out in less than a half hour, i got a nose piercing by Wes and it was so quick and only pinched for a short second. WAY less painful then the first time i got it done by a crappy place i will never return to. for sure coming back next month to get my tattoo here, his artwork is awesome.

My friend and I both got pierced here by Chris today- we both agreed it was our best experience ever with getting pierced! (I got a tragus and she got a daith) He was so lovely and made us both feel very comfortable, he went above and beyond to get us the piercings the way we wanted them. He’ll be my only piercer from now on.

Chris was a doll helping me get stubborn jewelry back into my septum here. Also antsy to come back for a nice tattoo at some point. This place is awesome. Leave them good tips when you go!

Great experience getting piercings here! they use a needle, not a gun, as your piercings heal much better. the piercers are so nice, professional, and patient. I’ve gotten 2 lobe piercings and 4 cartilage piercings done here.

The employees here are the BEST. I had guages stuck in my ears that I couldnt get out. Chris took maybe 10 minutes to get them out, clean the wound, and set me up with a new pair that WONT get stuck in my ears. Some of the nicest people in the world work here. Thats why I continue to come back. ❤️

Acme is amazing for piercings, Chris and Reiss are huge sweethearts and have done about 13 different piercings for me!! The only issue I have is that they have a very small selection of jewelry, and most of it is externally threaded and stainless steel. They do offer to order higher quality jewelry if you ask though, so its not really a problem!

Chris is the guy for you if you are looking for a pain-free piercing experience in Charlottesville. My experience at ACME was chill and quick due to friendly and experienced staff members. I highly recommend this place! A walk-in was welcomed :D

Chris pierced my daughters nose and he did a wonderful job. I only wish he had pierced her ears (we went to a mall shop and the healing time was awful) any other ear piercings she wishes to get down the road I will take her to Chris. I recommend him and anyone in Charlottesville who desires a clean and professional piercer. Im glad I took a chance and brought her to Acme.

Got my nose pierced here last week anr they did an amazing job and the price was fair. Nose ring is healing nicely. Thank you for taking me as a walk in when the shop up the street wouldnt even do a nose piercing because of covid.

I called to see if they do ear piercing for kids and was impressed by the customer service over the phone. I took my daughter in for her 7th birthday and she ended up panicking and not getting the piercings. Chris was gracious and kind. He talked to my daughter and told me to come back anytime. Even after we left and were standing on the sidewalk, another employee came out and gave my kids a piece of candy. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience - Unless you count my daughter actually getting her ears pierced!

Went here to get my piercings done andI ended up getting Chris to do my piercings, hes a super funny guy. I would definitely recommend this place over any other piercer in Charlottesville. Ive also had friends that have gotten tattoos done here and the work looks super solid.

Went to get a cartilage piercing, Chris was amazing! If youre thinking about getting a piercing, go and see him! Barely hurt at all and was over before I could blink.Last time I got a piercing (second hole in my lobe) I had it done in a mall with a piercing gun. I didnt have a great reaction, got super pale and kind of light headed. I told Chris and he explained that it was a psychological reaction, and talked me through everything before doing my cartilage piercing. He made what could have been another bad ear piercing experience into a really good one.PS, Chris was so quick and steady, my cartilage piercing hurt way less then my lobe.

Rude staff at front desk. They speak to you in a condescending way. The artist that was going to do my tattoo didn’t even introduce himself and acted like he didn’t want to be there. Ive gotten two tattoos and two piercings here and the last 4 years and acme never disappoints. Super friendly clientele and reasonably priced!

Staff member at front desk was rude and seemed inconvenienced, used inappropriate language, and spoke poorly about other shops and their skills and reputation. He also did some unusual things with his piercings that were upsetting to the people with me. Was very turned off by first impression and went elsewhere. Found out that a lot of the things I was told by the front desk guy were not true.

I had my ears pierced here (normal piercing). Very quick and painless and clean.

First they told me I could come in and I didn’t need an appointment. I came in, and they said there wouldn’t be any availability until next week. Then this Wes guy told me that I could come in the next day at 1 and he would do it for me. Next day, I’m there at 12:45 (he told me to come early) and I wait for half an hour (the shop was closed for some reason???) and then the owner(?) finally opens up the shop and texts Wes to see if he’s coming. Then I get a “yeahhh he’s not showing up.” Thanks. Very unprofessional. Go somewhere else if you want a more professional atmosphere where they actually take their jobs seriously 👍

I stopped in to see about getting a tattoo on Tuesday, was told to email what I wanted and would get a call back to schedule. I sent my email right away and never received a call back to schedule.
