First tattoo, amazing experience. The studio is is warm and welcoming, the staff is so kind, they must hear a million stories a day, but still make you feel special. Billy did mine and he is truly an artist! It’s more beautiful than I could have imagined, I’m so grateful to Billy, I’ll follow him anywhere!

Ill follow Tara wherever she goes, but Im so glad she found a home at Marlowe Ink! The studio vibes are immaculate. Everyone Ive spoken with is so friendly and welcoming. Its a 10/10 experience every time I go. Genuinely cannot say enough great things about this place. Its the best.

This place is amazing, my mom was getting a very elaborate piece done by Anya and I decided to get my first tattoo at the shop. My tattoo artist was Jen Root. she was super sweet and made sure that all my questions were answered, gave me a stress ball when it hurt and her room was super cute and welcoming. she let me know ! could take breaks whenever I wanted to. The tattoo was exactly what I wanted, and she made sure that we stayed right in my budget. would definitely come here again!

Got my second tattoo here with Ken, the place was really nice. Somewhat goofy vibes (which I like, helped me relax), and Ken was really professional and kind. Overall, my tattoo took a little under 3½ hours.

I recently got tattooed by Jen. She is the sweetest person I have ever met and she was super professional. The tattoo shop has a great atmosphere that makes you feel very comfortable. I loved my experience at marlowe ink!

I’ve been a client of Marlowe for about 4 years now, having originally been one of Hayden’s clients, and most recently working with Jen Root after Hayden moved. Every time I’ve walked through the doors I’ve felt comfortable, safe, and taken care of from start to finish. In my experience, this is a rare feeling that I’ve NEVER had in any other tattoo shop(I’ve been to many!) Artists are professional, clean and friendly - not to mention super talented! Jen finished my half sleeve recently and let me just say, she is the color QUEEN! I am obsessed with the colors and shading and I’m pretty sure that because of her care and artistry, I will be wanting to continue the sleeve down further:) Also, shout out to the amazing Tishy, who coordinates the front desk like a boss and is so sweet and accommodating. They are a literal rockstar. I recommend anyone who asks to this place! Thank you guys, you rock!

Was tattooed by Anya.in the first photo. Picture is of a completely healed piece after 2 years (motorcycle and tent). the color and lines have held up so incredibly well. Probably the least painful tattoo Ive received and also the fastest. Anyas studio is the coziest and most welcoming environment you could possibly get tattooed in. her professionalism and attention to detail guarantees you will leave with a new favorite work of art.Anya is in high demand so patience might required to get on her books but not more than a few months out. I promise its well worth the wait.Ive also been tattooed by the owner, James Marlowe (roses & skull) about 1 year healed. James is an interesting fellow with a huge heart and a an awesome vision and the skills to match.I cant wait to get tattooed again by either artist.

I’ve got 13 large, full color pieces and I’ve visited a dozen or so shops to get them. Marlowe in Fairfax is clean and inviting. I was tattooed by Cody Abell and I can’t say enough good things about the entire experience. Aside from Cody nailing the drawing, application, shading, and color of my piece, his professional manner is second to none. Client comfort, communication, and active engagement go really far with me and he was among the best I’ve met. The room I was in was full of music and discussion of terrible films like Top Gun and Days of Thunder. The music was great and not deafening. Overall this was among my top 3 (the other 2 being Elm Street in Dallas and Globe Electric in DC). Highly recommend working with Cody. I know I will be again.

Had my first ever tattoo (at age 44!) done by Tara Shinn after discovering her on Instagram. Tara was a delight to work with -- she took my idea and reference photos of my dogs and made something absolutely beautiful. The studio was bright and clean and everyone I met was friendly. The whole process was easy and I look forward to having Tara add my other dogs in the future!

Its always a great experience. Ive had tattoos from two of the artists here Over the course of a few years. The artists consistently produce wonderful work, And the location is only gotten larger more expansive and better with each visit. Its clear to me that the team here values delivering a wonderful experience for every person whos present. Every team member seems valued happy and invested in the quality of their work.

I went to Marlowe Ink to get my 2nd tattoo. It had been 14 years since my first and I was a little unsure. I researched and found Marlowe Ink and one of the resident artists Anya. She was great. We met for a consultation went what I was looking for and I booked my appointment. When I showed up the day of I Anya had 3 different sizes to choose from. We talked about which one would work best and then we got started.I loved the results! Anya did a great job and my wife and I are talking about going there for some more work.Also, the shop was incredible clean and the staff was great. Prices are reasonable from what Ive seen around the DMV area. Maybe a littler higher than other shops but you are paying for quality artists who take time to talk to their clients so the results are perfect.

I cant say enough about Marlowe Ink but would like to personally thank Ken who did the most beautiful tattoo sleeve for my adult son; both memorializing his one dog and honoring his current dog. I knew of Marlowe ink from living in this area and knowing the previous operations manager. Ken came highly recommended and now I understand why. His attention to detail is incredible. He went over EVERY detail on the zoom call, answered all the questions we had and made both of us feel like he truly cared about this special project. He is clearly a perfectionist which is what you want in an artist. He is neat, clean, and frankly felt like a friend. He spent hours with my son (who was a bit nervous) and not only calmed his fears but just listened and cared. Though I never considered getting a tattoo myself...I just may have to after this experience. Thank you for hiring individuals like Ken who truly enjoy and are good at what they do. I have already given his name to several friends. Good work Marlowe Ink, you exceeded our expectations.

I had my tattoo done here (September 2023).Marlowe Ink has been the best place I have ever dealt with for tattoos. Every person I met made everything so much better and comfortable.Ken Rexroat did such an incredible job with a tattoo that has such significance and has sensitive matter to me that it makes me want to cry. Ken took the original design and just truly made it an incredible design. I dont have enough enough good words to say.

I’ve only been tattooed by Tara and Connie so far but I love everyone here, especially Tishy who sends me personalized reminders to not miss my appointments. I look so much cooler than before I walked in here the first time. 😎

All around great experience. So professional right away in their management and scheduling for consultations, as well as the actual booking. Ken was my artist and was great to work with. He explained everything on our consult, things I hadn’t even thought of. On the day of the appointment, Ken was a super fun guy to be around and chat with while we prepped to begin and during. It was a very relaxed space with definite mindfulness of Covid precautions. My tattoo was pretty small, but I’m so in love with it. I would highly recommend if you’re looking for script or for elaborate artwork.

Tara is my go-to artist anymore, probably one of the best on the east coast. She can take your vague ideas and concepts and turn them into something not only true to your idea, but better than you can imagine. She is friendly, personable, and professional and overall just a joy to work with. Marlowe itself is a professional and well run operation, getting an appointment and organizing the actual tattooing was a breeze. The place has a friendly atmosphere and you can tell everyone there has a passion for what they do. Cant recommend this place enough.

Found my dream artist here! Hayden is amazing and I love her 🥰 shes done 90% of my tats and Ill always come back. The shop is clean and no matter who you see its always a pleasant experience.

Ive been going to Marlowe for quite a long time for touch ups and full tattoos, specifically with Anya (but I know Ill get some work done by other artists as well eventually), and its the best tattoo shop Ive ever had the pleasure of visiting. Literally every aspect of each time Ive visited or contacted the shop (including social media interaction) has been exactly what I would hope from and expect from a reputable shop. You get what you pay for, and then some. Its fantastic, and my tattoos from my times at Marlowe Ink always get the most compliments too. Shoutout to the whole team for being top notch humans.🖤

James is the best. This shop does amazing work very sterile and safety compliant. Ive been a client for over 20 years. All the artists are top notch and are mostly appointment only. Contact the shop to make an appointment and leave your entourage at home. Just the person getting tattooed is allowed in the shop. Look him up on IG for artwork photos

What an excellent experience! Jen White (Alexandria location) is awesome! She listens intently, makes professional suggestions and is an outstanding artist. I had a half sleeve done elsewhere and I was really disappointed with the end result. Jen evaluated the work and came up with a perfect finish that really brought the sleeve together. Not only is she a great artist but she has a fun demeanor and a real concern for her customers. I will definitely be back for more!

I have a number of tattoos from Marlowe Ink and particularly from the artist Anya Gladun. Absolutely some of the best work you will ever see. I will continue to get more until my body runs out of real estate. The shop itself is terrific and Kim at the front helm is a most wonderful human being. Just ask any animal she’s come in contact with. The entire experience there is unmatched because it is an assemblage of unique and terrific people. It’s the perfect place.

Came to Marlowe Ink for a tattoo coverage. I had the opportunity to meet with Kim and Anya to cover an existing tattoo that I was not happy with; They went beyond my expectations to make sure my tattoo was covered and the end results were amazing. I love Marlowe’s Ink, they have such friendly, caring, and down to earth staff, from the front desk to the artists, to the managers. I’ll be coming back for sure! I just had an appointment with Anya. Not only is she an amazing artist and was very flexible with what I wanted, she was also very professional and incredibly fast. She was able to start and finish my piece in about 2.5 hours. And it looks amazing! Their studio is small but is jam packed with fantastic art. Id highly recommend Marlowe Ink and hope to return in a year or two... once I forget the pain! Anya, thanks again for your artwork :]

Man Marlowe Ink is my second home! Im there about every 3 weeks. My artist is Jackson. Hes super talented and a dope personality along with it. But everybody there is really cool and down to earth! The last tattoo shop I ever visit

Jen is the most amazing talented creative tattoo artists I have ever met! She has done 3 of my master peices and my last peice was a half sleeve! I get soooooo many compliments on my tats and I trust her. Cant wait to get another half sleeve done by Jen. If you are looking for a artist that takes pride in her work look no further than Jen.

I got a tattoo of a shark done by Misty a couple days ago, and Im very happy with how it turned out. Ive already gotten a ton of compliments on it. It hurt like hell but the end result was definitely worth it. Misty didnt talk to me at all for the 2 hours it took to tattoo, but I was completely okay with that because Im not much of a talker and dont like small talk. I would for sure recommend her as long as youre fine with not getting babied through the experience. Ill probably come to her again when Im ready for my next tattoo!

Jen is a fantastic artist that takes incredible pride in her work. I’ve been seeing Jen for my tattoo needs for more than five years. There are multiple reasons I keep coming back, some of the reasons include:1. Extremely easy to work with-such as presenting an idea and getting your tattoo idea started.2. Talented-I know from working with other artists, before Jen of course, that other artists can be very “narrow” in what they can do. Jen has a very broad ability to tattoo across multiple areas of styles she can work with. Examples include, but not limited to, traditional, realism, neo traditional and blackwork.3. Quality-You will get an extremely fantastic quality tattoo with the best quality ink.If you’re reading reviews of artists then you’re probably looking for an artist to work with. This is one of the best and you can’t go wrong!

Hayden is freaking awesome. I was sooo relaxed, I actually started yawning. My cover up tattoo is stunning. The prices are reasonable, the background music was chill and the overall experience and vibe was way cool.

Got a half sleeve done last year by Jackson. Awesome price, tattoo has held up perfectly, line work and details are like the photos I brought him. He even stayed late to get it done because my work schedule was crazy. Only place Ill go in the DMV

Went there for the first time today. It was super clean smelling which was great. Got my tattoo done by Phil. Everyone there was very nice and the atmosphere was amazing. I will definitely make this my home shop.

When me and my husband arrived at Marlowe Ink everyone treated us great. I brought a picture in and Danny was going to tattoo it on me. We were in the waiting room patiently waiting to get the sketch done, admiring some of the work on the walls. There were photos everywhere so my husband stepped into the hall and immediately got chewed out. You are not to leave the waiting room to see any of the pictures in the hall or anywhere else. Okay, that was fine.--But the lady at the desk could have been much nicer about it. Then Danny was done and we were going to the back room to get tattooed! All of a sudden they yell at my husband because the only people allowed to be in the room is the artist and the person getting the tattoo. I did not want to get this done alone. It was my birthday and my husband is getting deployed to Afghanistan in a couple weeks so I wanted to spend the experience with him. They didnt care about any of that. They said someone at one time stole some tattoo equipment so now no one can have company back there. So I told Danny I guess I will go somewhere else to get it done. Im not going to get it done alone. I politely asked for my drawing back and he said absolutely not! and crumpled it up and threw it in the trash. I couldnt be more disgusted with this place. We ended up going to Patriots and couldnt have been happier with their service or quality of tattoo! My husband actually ended up getting one too that night! Highly recommend Logan and Kat from Patriots!

These guys are absolutely excellent! I was in DC on business and noticed that I had lost my jewelry somewhere along my running route. I called around to see if I could find a replacement anywhere, and even though they were officially closed, one of the guys was nice enough to stick around and sell me a barbell. You cant teach class like that.

This is my favorite tattoo parlor in the area. The minimum price is fairly standard for the area. The artist I typically see is Danny but all of them are friendly and very talented.

This place and all the artist are amazing. They do appointments only so this might not be for everyone that is looking to get in same day, but the wait is worth it.
